Welcome from Deputy Director Parks, Recreation & Culture Tara Fotsch

Welcome to your 2022 Winter/Spring Guide! With the holiday season upon us and a brand-new year around the corner, Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture has something for everyone in the family. Whether you’re interested in getting fit, staying fit, or keeping the kids busy we are sure you will find something fun and enriching.

We have had a busy year in our service area with the passing of the Open Space and Trails tax initiative (Thank You Voters), the early pay-off of the Community Recreation Center mortgage which effectively lowered the sales tax rate in our community, creation of the Windsor Arts Commission and completion of two new community art pieces. Additionally, we hosted over 100 special events in our parks system, we served over 20,000 meals to seniors in our community, 2,300 swim lesson participants, improvements at the Archery Range, creation of a community Volunteer program, completion of the 17th Street Trail which leads to the Ditch #2 Trail and so much more!

As we head into the new year, we have many exciting projects that we can’t wait to celebrate with you! The opening of Harmony Ridge Neighborhood Park in early Summer, playground renovations at Boardwalk and Covenant Parks that will occur next Spring along with the construction of the Historic Halfway Designation and Dickey Farm House park site. These are just a few of the exciting new developments along with the many new programs and activities that you will find in this guide.

On behalf of all the staff in our Parks, Recreation & Culture Department, I welcome you to participate in one of our many recreational opportunities. Wherever this season takes you, I hope our Parks, Recreation & Culture system enriches your adventures and supports the wellness of your family.

Parks, Recreation & Culture staff are jumping for joy!

Windsor’s Town Board voted to pay off the Community Recreation Center expansion project 12 years earlier than initially projected. Ultimately, this is saving residents $1.5 million in interest payments.
