W

ith winter fading away and spring just around

the corner, you may find yourself struggling to put a spring in your step. Whether it is because of a class, new sibling, or a fight with your best friend, these circumstances do not have to define you. The months of spring are not only for flowers blooming or birds chirping, it also is typically know for a rebirth of all kinds.

live your life Always remember you are in control of how you react to each new situation. You can choose to be upset or take action and decide to view it as an opportunity for inner growth. Take the examples below and read on to see how a “lemon” situation can be turned into lemonade and what is more refreshing than that on a spring day!

Math not your favorite or chemistry confusing? Don’t be afraid to ask for help, at the school or ask your parents to help you find a tutor locally. You might be surprised that learning all subjects can be fun.

Adding a family member is always an adjustment but view your new role as role model for your new brother or sister. As they grow up, they will look up to you, so don’t you want to set a good example?

live your life Also ask your parents how you can help whether by babysitting or driving to the store to get more diapers. It might even lead to an increase in your allowance!

Use this fight to really ask what is wrong with your friend. Maybe they had a bad day or maybe it is something bigger like a sick grandparent. Whatever the reason, be honest and say you have noticed she is not her usual self. Your friend will appreciate the concern and in the end you both will become closer friends.

Another important aspect of the season, mentioned above, is the re-birth of various things in nature. You can take a cue from Mother Nature and let your inner beauty shine. Some ways of doing this are listed below.

live your life

Nature is beautiful to people because it is not made up. Try the same concept by wearing muted color lip gloss or eye shadow without glitter.

Nature is also beautiful because of its many colors. You can be just as stunning by adding a pop of color to your wardrobe. Whether that is a fun color belt or pair of sneakers, wow everyone around you. The above are a few ideas to start the season right. Whether you trying a new hobby or helping the new kid in school, you can take a step in the right direction. Spring is times for growth so why not try to grow into the best version of you possible?

Classic Meets Color By Nicole Chapman

S

pring fashion is in bloom with bright, cheery hues and

bold prints. The runways were filled with classic designs, reimagined and updated with a fresh, colorful spin for spring. This season’s look is sophisticated and chic, but playful. To pull it off, you’ve got to embrace color! Take spring’s essential trends from runway to real world by finding the colors that work for you and pairing them with the neutral basics already in your closet.

Get your hands on these four key spring pieces and get started mixing pops of color with classic style:

fashion

Colored Skinny Jean; Delia’s $44.50

Spring fashion always calls for whimsical floral prints, but this year, we’re seeing these nature-inspired patterns on structured blazers. This look takes you from fall to spring with ease, making it a great transition piece for your wardrobe. Your floral blazer will break the mold with skinny jeans, a white blouse, pumps, and a statement necklace for a night out. Or, try throwing it over a tank top with shorts for an easy, chic look to wear on a sunny afternoon date.

Floral Blazer; Urban Outfitters $79.00

fashion

Ruffled Cap Sleeve Dress; Forever 21 $19.80

Spring is all about the LBD. The little BRIGHT dress, that is. This casual, colorful cutie is the perfect, go-anywhere choice for effortless style this spring. Choose a color that looks great with your skin tone. For warm skin tones, look for a dress in forest green, mustard yellow, or coral. For cool skin tones, opt for a dress in teal, blue, or purple. Whatever the color, make sure it’s bright. Pair your dress with boho brown sandals for running errands or a day at the beach. Or dress up your LBD with patent nude pumps. Instaglam.

If you add one bright garment to your collection this season, make it tangerine, the it-color for spring. Look for a crop top in this bright orange hue and pair it with white jeans and tan wedge sandals for a breezy look that goes anywhere. Or try two spring trends in one with a tangerine LBD. Bright orange can be a hard color to wear, but it can really work for anyone if done right. If tangerine’s not really your thing, choose an accessory instead of an outfit. A preppy tangerine bag pairs well with jeans and a tee!

arch is the time of spring-and

we all know what that means. It’s the time of pool parties, working on tans, going to the beach, and staying out late to enjoy the longer sunshine hours. It’s spring break time, and all of the cold and white starts to melt away.

Spring can also herald a call to action, a call to arms. Now that the winter months have said bye-bye, you can finally be able to work more toward those resolutions and goals that you set for yourself a few months ago.

Why not spend some of that trapped up energy working for the common good? You don’t have to have a ton of money, or have to travel far, to find work that always needs to be done. A lot of people choose this time for “spring cleaning,” and for good reason. But “spring cleaning” doesn’t have to be as boring and mundane as cleaning out closets and dusting. Positive changes can be made right around the area you live and play. No dust bunnies involved.

Now is the perfect time to organize a community project that can be fun and influentialand you don’t have to tackle huge problems in order to feel good about yourself and what you can contribute. Since everyone is starting to get out of their houses, why not coordinate with your neighbors to meet up on a weekend with you and get started on something beneficial?

how you are interacting with your planet, and nature. Why not use the changing of the seasons to initiate change in your life?

You may know her as DiamondsandHeels14 but Cassandra is more than just a pretty face on YouTube. Miss Moxie sits down for an exclusive interview with the genuinely beautiful Cassandra Bankson.

Miss Moxie: As a famous YouTube Make Up Guru, how would you define beauty?

MM: Which do you think is more important inner or outer beauty and can you have on without the other?

Cassandra Bankson: I feel beauty can't be defined. there are no "Rules" to beauty. Every person is gorgeous for a different reason, and beauty can exist, and be created in so many ways. I do however think a common trait of all beauty is Confidence. Confidence radiates alongside beauty- they are like lips and lipgloss- one makes the other so much better!

CB: You can most certainly have one without the other. Inner beauty is far more important than external beauty, because without inner beauty, outer beauty can't exist!!! Inner beauty is what allows you to be HAPPY, to communicate, be kind, and to love others. Without it, outer beauty wouldn't be beautifulmerely a frown and pessimistic attitude with good hair that nobody 17 will want to be around……….

let alone pay attention to! Inner beauty is what MAKES outer beauty exist. MM: In your now famous video about covering up acne, you reveal some insecurities about your own skin, how do you overcome those insecurities?

CB: Those insecurities have taken me years to conquer. At first, I simply ran away, and hid from my problems. I switched schools so that I didn't have to be around kids my age who would pick on me. I graduated early, and researched makeup to cover my acne. Running away, and hiding form the problems. It wasn't until a very important person I'm my life- my boyfriend sat me down and explained exactly what was beautiful about me. Not once did he mention anything cosmetic. When I realized I felt beautiful around him without any makeup, I realized it was possible for anyone to feel this amazing though confidence. It was nerve-racking and gut-wrenching to post that video,

but I thought if it helped just one person, it would be worth all the hate I got. I never could have imagined such a positive response! MM: What advice would you give to young women out there with similar insecurities to the ones you revealed in your video? CB: The best way to overcome it, is to attack the problem head on. Don't hide from it! Embrace it. Let those who you trust know what you're going through, and look to them for ideas, tips, tricks, and emotional support. Take the problems into your own hounds, and research a solution!

That's what Diamondsandheels14 is aboutKNOWING our problems, and learning why they happen, and ways to fix them. List the things you LOVE about yourself, and dwell on those... do something special for yourself every day, even if it something as simple as a bubble bath, or buying yourself a few beautiful flowers! MM: You seem to have a lot of confidence and poise in your videos, what’s your secret? CB: Personally, I wake up every morning and thank God for everything I have. I try not to think about the things I don’t have. I thank him for the opportunity I have, my family, my friends, and everything he has blessed each and every one of us with. When you go through something depressing or traumatic (like being severely teased for your height and having acne) and then being in an amazing place where you feel so accepted by everyone, and working to improve those

imperfections, you can't help but rejoice. Realize what you DO have, and you won't be able to help it . MM: Do you think having a good character makes a young woman beautiful? A good character makes every young woman, grown woman, boy and man beautiful. It’s again about inner beautywithout the inside the outside won't work! MM: What social issues are you passionate about and have you had many opportunities to give back through your work? CB: I'm very passionate about helping others, and through my life I'm so thankful I have had the opportunity to do that with my career now, and through organizations in the past. I belonged to a wonderful youth group at Church where we had amazing opportunities- Feeding the homeless, 19

raising money to purchase goats for farms, and different missions in places like Africa, Mexico and India. These have been some of the most rewarding and life changing experiences of my life, that I will always be grateful for and I’m eager to do again. MM: What has it been like receiving so much support through your YouTube videos? CB: The support though YouTube has been just as amazing. Growing up without many friends, and being teased because of my acne turned into a loving "YouTube Family"...I’m still so confused about how it's all happened! As awful as my experience with acne has been, without it this amazing online beauty world couldn't have existed for me the way it does. My viewers aren't my 'fans' my 'followers' or my 'subscribers'- they're my friends... and that's what’s so amazing about it! I can't show my skin or share my medical problems with people every day, but for some reason I feel so open sharing with my friends online! Its crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. MM: How would you describe your experience of being on GMA? CB: GMA was amazing- I hadn't been to NYC since a child, and the city and environment was AMAZING!

I was treated very professionally, and the staff was so welcoming! While going live it was almost surreal, dreamlike... Robin spoke to me as a friend, and I didn’t feel nervous or jittery at all, I simply answered her questions, and was so happy to share what I knew. One of the most amazing parts was meeting Andrea Bocelli after the show. Since I was born, his music is what my father would listen to- at least once a month, and every holiday and family gettogether. 20

I so badly wished my father was with me that day to meet him, I suppose he didn't tag along for his own reasons. Perhaps in the future... but nonetheless it was an amazing experience, and I was completely awestruck. MM: How can readers follow your story and keep in touch? Readers, Viewers and Followers are my friends... and I would always love to have and help more! On YouTube, you can reach me through Diamondsandheels14 (www.youtube.com/diamondsa ndheels14)

and if you have questions, feel free to post a comment or send a message. If you tweet me on Twitter (Sincerelycass11) I almost always reply, and because everyone has a Facebook, I'd love to connect as well. (Diamondsandheels14, and Cassandra Bankson on Facebook.) I really appreciate the opportunity to be here for Miss Moxie, and I hope you learned something from the post, or from any of my YouTube videos! I'd love to hear your thoughts, and of course talk with you all soon... see you in the next post or video!! :)

beauty

Hot shades, head-turning designs and color-

blocking are just around the bend. And no, we aren’t talking about what’s on the runway. This spring “fashion” will be about much more than what shoes you’re wearing or what bag you’re carrying. The fun part of this trend is that you can change up the colors and designs at any moment, without breaking the bank. In fact, this spring your nails will be your most fashionable accessory. Want a manicure that’s hands downs spot on for spring? Here are some of the best colors and trends to try.

beauty Be Bright Coral, tangerine and yellow are this go-to colors for just about every accessory this spring, and nails are no exception. Seen on many a runway, coral exudes a playful sand and surf tone but can also be dressed up for a night out while yellow can be bold but in subtle way. Orange ya glad, we clued you in?

Go Green Pistachio isn’t just for ice cream and nuts any longer. This spring, the light green shade is making a splash and taking over where the light grey trend of winter left off. Pick a light green with creamy undertones for everyday wear or one with a shimmer for a night out.

beauty Metallic-ah! Whether you’re a fan of gold or silver, you can’t go wrong with a metallic manicure. Whether opaque, ombre /graduated or full on shimmering color, a metallic look will match any outfit and work for any occasion. Want to get playful? Switch up the gold or silver tones on every other finger.

Paint a Picture Nail art has become a huge trend and it’s only getting bigger and better in spring. Whether you do it at home or pay at a salon, having words written, faces drawn or scenes recreated on your nails is a great way to express yourself and the things you love. And if it’s good enough for Zooey Deschanel, it’s good enough for us.

beauty Spring fashion is all about being bold and your nails shouldn’t miss out on the fun. Why not take a tried and true look and turn it on its?

Instead of the same old boring French manicure, try a darker shade on the top of the nail (try a dark purple) and a lighter (white or cream shade) on the bottom of the nail.

Go Nude Before you jump to conclusions, we don’t mean to go for the standard clear coat manicure. No. For this look, we are going back to the ‘80s when the light pink-beige (nude) tone ruled the world. Back again, with a beautiful vengeance, this color is sophisticated and subtle but with a flirty hint. It also doesn’t hurt that it literally matches every outfit you own. If none of these trends tickle your fancy, try a shade of blue, glitter polishes or pastels instead of your ‘ol standby. This spring paint the town red but paint your nails any (and every) other shade.
