6th Annual Global Crowdfunding Convention to Educate Entrepreneurs on Raising Capital, Sponsored by Microsoft PRSS RLEASE LAS VEGAS, June 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For over half a decade the Global Crowdfunding Convention (GCC) has been the cornerstone of education for people struggling to raise capital to come and learn from crowdfunding industry leaders and rockstars in reward, equity, real estate and donation-based crowdfunding. The crowdfunding industry has grown quickly. In 2012, crowdfunding raised $1.7 billion in capital – but last year, total capital raised using crowdfunding reached over $60 billion! This represents a seismic shift in the way that startups, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and even real estate can now be funded. Crowdfunding is a crucial funding method for new and established businesses, for those who might not have access to, nor the requirements for other forms of financing. Crowdfunding isn't randomly asking for money. It entails building a well-thought-out crowdfunding campaign, based on a sound strategy and solid execution while inviting the crowd to be a part of your journey and share in your success. Boasting its sixth year, the Las Vegas flagship event will once again showcase more than 70 experts and sponsors. Joining Microsoft is Johnson & Johnson's platform Caring Crowd to name just a few and the leaders who have helped grow all sectors of the industry. Learn From Industry Experts And Keynote Speakers! With a proper ecosystem of crowdfunding technology, education and training, startups and growing enterprises can increase their ability to raise the capital they need, scale up and compete in today's world. To that end, (GCC) is committed to bringing proven crowdfunding education from world-class experts to a diverse audience. We are starting that journey with a sponsorship and partnership with our premier sponsor Microsoft and one of our keynote speakers Fernando Hernandez Director of Supplier Diversity at Microsoft to help expand crowdfunding education to the world of diversity and Inclusion.

"We look forward to continuing to work together now and long into the future," said Ruth E. Hedges, CEO and Founder of the Global Crowdfunding Convention -GCC at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, on October 23rd & 24th, 2017. "Our commitment to diversity will also raise awareness across the entire diversity and crowdfunding industry and will provide a path for underrepresented entrepreneurs to succeed and create their piece of the American dream." Attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the world of crowdfunding, and be able to use this knowledge to further their own campaigns and ensure that their projects have the best chance of success. But it's not all work – there will be plenty of play, and excitement! Investors can see Startups pitch their ideas live from the Crowdfunding Marketplace Expo and on the main stage. The audience can play "Who Wants To Raise A Million Dollars" have a drink and hors d'oeuvres at "Crowdfundie Awards" and London Club after party, and so much more -there is plenty to do at the 6th Annual GCC! About GCC: Oct 23rd & 24th, 2017 was established in 2012. Thousands have attended from more the 22 countries, more than 300 experts have spoken and sponsored this flagship event focused on entrepreneurs using the power of crowdfunding to bring their unique visions and products to life. Over the intervening years, the GCC has grown to become the premier destination for crowdfunding professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry experts. Media contact: Ruth E. TEA TALKS

"I’m actually a coffee drinker who was introduced to specialty teas about 9 years ago. The more I learned about tea, the more interesting and flavorful each cup became. I enjoy sharing my teas and learning as much as I can in order to help others discover the potential of tea. I love doing tea-tastings in people’s homes and work places, and watching their faces as they begin to discover all that tea has to offer."

Louise's favorite tea activity is going to assisted living residences in the valley and having afternoon tea, while doing tea-leaf readings, telling tea stories, and sharing the residents’ tea stories, too.

Allows LCTC to help the community, from the inside out! We work with small non-profits as well as for-profit businesses that support and promote community projects. Our support comes in the form of donating tea for fund raising events, as well as items for raffles and silent auctions.

Tea Talks are designed for larger groups and are completed in about an hour. Here we tailor the subject of the talk to your groups’ specific needs or requests. We can discuss such subjects as health and tea, what exactly is tea, or cooking with tea. Afterwards, we bring the tea for people to enjoy.

The more people know about this diverse drink, the more they enjoy their cuppa’. OPERATING HOURS Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm PST

For more information about this program, please contact us at 702.643.2828

“THERE ARE NO SMALL PARTS, ONLY SMALL ACTORS.” In Our Changing Economy, Entrepreneurs Need Clearer Paths to Small Businesses By Ruth Veloria, Executive Dean for the School of Business at University of Phoenix As a business school dean, I don’t normally offer business insight with reflections on theater, but this quote from Constantin Stanislavski is an exception. Believe it or not, it gets to the heart of one of the most fundamental truths in the business world: small businesses play an enormous role in driving innovation and keeping the engine of our economy churning. Consider their role nationally. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, small businesses currently employ almost 60 million members of the nation’s private workforce. In fact, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and small businesses create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. Small businesses also play a critical role on a local scale. Here in Nevada, more than 229,000 small businesses operate across the state’s largest industries, including aerospace and defense, mining, and tourism and recreation.1

These owners understand the important role their businesses play, and know that running a small business is no minor feat. Successful small businesses require grit, determination and an unfailing entrepreneurial spirit. We must do all we can to support current small business owners, and help grow and prepare the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Higher education institutions should work to fill those knowledge gaps with business education and experience, helping prepare individuals to turn an idea into a marketable and viable product, business or organization. At University of Phoenix® School of Business, we create an environment for our students that allows them to test ideas, take risks and grow. Outside of the traditional classroom, we have pioneered other ways to help foster small business owners and employees at every step of their career. The RedFlint experience center, located in downtown Las Vegas, offers entrepreneurs and

startups unique access to tools and resources to add to their skillsets, explore cutting-edge technologies and enhance their business models. Through workshops, panel discussions and technology exhibitions, RedFlint encourages a creative space for small businesses to grow. Higher education and business leaders have a responsibility to help encourage individuals to support their own ideas with research, address knowledge gaps, lay out a growth strategy, network and learn from other successful entrepreneurs. For centuries, entrepreneurs have proven their worth not only to our economies, but to our daily lives. We must create spaces that foster their spirits and ideas, which will benefit us all in the long run. University of Phoenix (602) 557-8646 phoenix.edu

NETWORKING PAST THE EMAIL GATEKEEPER

BY RONNIE ROLL

There was a time where wooing a receptionist at the front door of an office was the goal of every person wishing to set an appointment with a prospect. Today, that secretary no longer exists in many offices. Instead, many prospects work from home or work in secure building complexes where access to decision makers is highly restricted. While it means buying fewer bouquets of flowers and cookies, it means mechanical and electronic gatekeepers that seem like iron-clad doors. “Send an email,” you say. But email has gone the way of physical mail, where it is often not opened, let alone read. It can be automatically dumped into Spam boxes, for instance, never even to be seen. Rules can be written to restrict mail from outside addresses not recognized. So, email is no longer the best way to reach your prospects, even though you would never know it by the number of automated email programs available. They, in fact, have become the reason why email no longer works. So what does work? I suggest you try an old-fashioned way. Because clients receive so few pieces of physical mail these days, a postcard in the mailbox forces the prospect to read the message before tossing the card out. Whether they call or not depends on the strength of your message, but the message is delivered nonetheless. I also am a strong believer in the telephone. Even if your prospect does not answer their telephone every time it rings, a warm friendly voice in a message is a welcome respite. Be creative in your messages! I have been known to leave a joke, minus the punchline, on my voice messages. I can’t tell you how many times people call back because they couldn’t stand not hearing the punchline! Find whatever works for you – that thing that makes you memorable, and use it! http://www.ronnieroll.com/ Author's Bio: As a professional business strategist and coach, I am committed to helping budding entrepreneurs go from "I have an idea" to their grand opening and beyond. That includes making strategic decisions, writing business plans, finding financing, sales & marketing initiatives, to expansion and growth management strategies.

Back to Basics 101: How to Follow Up With a Networking Contact By Cynthia Spirlin, J.D.

Okay, you carved out time to go to a breakfast meeting or happy hour mixer . You actually went to a mixer or networking event (instead of just thinking about it), mingled like an pro, and even came away with some business cards from people.

5) Read or Listen to Audiobooks or Podcasts Turn your car into a classroom between appointments and make your networking efforts more productive.

Now what?

BOOK RECOMMENDATION:

Here are some tips for making your next move successful.

The Little Black Book of Connections: 6.5 Assets for Networking Your Way to Rich Relationships Written by: Jeffrey Gitomer Narrated by: Jeffrey Gitomer Length: 3 hrs and 49 mins Unabridged Audiobook Release Date:07-07-09 Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio

1) Take the initiative. Ninety-seven percent of people who ask for my card never do anything with it. So if you want to push the relationship forward, YOU have to take the action. If you've decided someone you met at a mixer is at the top of your priority list for follow up, then you need to take responsibility for initiating contact. 2) Think about how you could be of assistance to them. Networking has become so synonymous with helping oneself to the career goodies that it's been forgotten that the best networking relationships are characterized by mutual benefit. 3) Sample Follow-up Email Template "Dear Jerry, I enjoyed meeting you at yesterday's breakfast meeting and talking with you about ________________________________. "Since our conversation, I visited your website. I am very impressed by the work your company is doing, and I would enjoy talking with you about it further. I think you may be interested in several clients we work with in Ireland. The attached white paper describes one of our highly successful projects. "I will phone or email you next week to ask you about scheduling a meeting." Best wishes, 4) Make an appointment to follow-up, then follow-up.

THE CANNABIS STARTUP ACCELERATOR & FUND WRITTEN BY STAFF WRITER

Gateway is a full immersion business accelerator and seed investment program born out of Silicon Valley and located in the capital of cannabis advocacy and innovation. OAKLAND, CA Our management team has deep startup knowledge and an extensive entrepreneur and capital network in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are leveraging the lessons learned and capital earned in Silicon Valley to grow the potential of the cannabis industry by creating a new breed of cannabis-related companies. Twice a year Gateway admits and invests $50k each in up to 10 cannabis startups. The startups move to Oakland, the cannabis capital of the US, for at least 4 months. During this time, they will experience intense coaching and mentoring to take their companies to the next level. Each batch will work towards a Demo Day where the startups will present their companies to a carefully selected invite-only investor audience. After graduation, companies enter the Gateway alumni network and continue their journey with the support of an amazing community of entrepreneurs and mentors. We believe that the criminalization of cannabis is one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th century. We've only scratched the surface when it comes to the benefits of cannabis and believe there to be great potential for this industry and its impact on society. Until cannabis is as ubiquitous as the internet, we have much work to do. Join us in our mission to make the cannabis industry mainstream. Does your company have what it takes to pave the way?

WHAT IS BITCOIN

MINING? By Verner Dixon, Jr. How Bitcoin Mining Works You have probably wondered where do bitcoins come from? With paper money (fiat currency), a government decides when to print and distribute it. Bitcoin doesn't have a central government. With Bitcoin, miners use special software to solve math problems and are issued a certain number of bitcoins in exchange (reward). Mining is the mechanism used to introduce bitcoins into the system. This both serves the purpose of disseminating new coins in a decentralized manner as well as motivating people to provide security for the system through mining. Mining is also the process of adding transaction data to Bitcoin's public ledger of past transactions. Each set of transactions that are processed is called a block. The block is secured by the Bitcoin miners and builds on top of each other forming a chain. This ledger of past transactions is called the blockchain. The blockchain serves to confirm transactions to the rest of the network as having taken place. Bitcoin nodes use the blockchain to distinguish legitimate Bitcoin transactions from attempts to re-spend coins that have already been spent elsewhere. Why mine? Block rewards provide the majority of incentives for miners. Miners are paid transaction fees as well as a subsidy of newly created coins. The amount of new bitcoin released with each mined block is called the block reward. At Bitcoin's launch, each new block awarded the miner with 50 bitcoins, and this amount halves every four years: Currently each block includes 12.5 new bitcoins. This smaller block reward will result in a total release of bitcoin that approaches 21 million (BTC), which is the total to be capped. Mining Hardware Graphics cards (mining chips), or graphics processing units (GPUs), are more effective at mining than CPUs and as Bitcoin gained popularity, GPUs became dominant. Eventually, hardware known as an ASIC (which stands for Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) was designed specifically for mining Bitcoin. Is mining secure? The primary purpose of mining is to allow Bitcoin nodes to reach a secure, tamper-resistant consensus. Bitcoin miners help keep the Bitcoin network secure by approving transactions. Mining is an important and integral part of Bitcoin that ensures fairness while keeping the Bitcoin network stable, safe and secure. In summary Bitcoin mining is the means that brings new bitcoin into circulation and anyone can become a Bitcoin miner. But, Bitcoin mining has become more specialized, so that it is now done by dedicated professionals with specialized hardware, cheap electricity and often big data centers. In order, for the rest of us to get involved we need to join a mining pool, that some of these companies operate. The Opportunity That Changes Lives

By Grant Anderson

An experience in life traditionally reserved for multimillionaires nearing the age of retirement. Sound like something you would have liked to have participated in as early as college? That’s exactly what UNLV’s Rebel Venture Fund (RVF) offers its students. A student-run organization that allows students to invest $25,000-$50,000 in startups almost anywhere in the world on behalf of the University. The price of admission? Hard work. That’s all the RVF asks of its members. Any major is allowed to apply for membership to this incredible opportunity. Not only does this experience allow students to see the inner workings of multi-million dollar deals that celebrities such as Mark Cuban invest in, but it also allows students screen hundreds of duds as well. Beyond the lessons in finance, law, intellectual property, engineering, marketing, and more, it provides a stark understanding of the hard work and careful planning required to succeed in life. It’s almost impossible to look anywhere else for such an intimate view into the lives of entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs who put the livelihoods of their families on the line to condense their dreams into a self-built reality. The difference between a passionate worldbeater and a con-filled story-teller becomes instantly apparent.

The RVF provides the greatest rewards to those who pursue them. Beyond the due-diligence of an investment recommendation, the personal networking and knowledge that can be gained by participating as an active member is second-to-none. Students who have recognized this unique position have been rewarded with careers that span from investment offices all the way up to positions in the White House. If standard classes and a degree scribbled on some paper is all that someone seeks, then the RVF is not for them. Not Harvard, nor even MIT offer a hands-on experience such as this to its elite students. To those who seek to dominate and own every aspect of their life, join now or get left behind! http://www.rebelventurefund.com/

Business Tax Tips

Quick Overview of the LLC Entity Type as a Solopreneur By Shan-Nel D. Simmons, EA of Nel’s Tax Help, LLC As the only owner of your business, if your business is an LLC the net income will be taxed on your personal return. An LLC is treated as a disregarded entity by default for tax purposes; and on your 1040 return, your transactions will be typically reported on either a schedule C or a schedule C-EZ. You also can choose to be taxed as a C corporation or as an S corporation by making an election with both the IRS and your applicable state and local tax authorities to do so. The net income of your LLC will be subject to income taxes and self-employment taxes. In some states, to keep your LLC status in good standing, you will have an annual report to file with an annual filing fee to pay. In addition to these taxes, there are standard taxes one must consider when operating their business such as payroll taxes if you have employees, sales and use tax, and, in some states, personal property taxes to name a few. By operating your business as an LLC, the following are the pros and cons of this business entity type to keep in mind: PROS · No separate tax return to complete and file · No double taxation on profits for income tax purposes · Easy to operate and dissolve CONS · Entire profit is assessed self-employment taxes · Failure to comply with state statutory requirements can result in losing LLC status · LLC laws vary broadly from state to state INeed help deciding if an LLC fits your business? How To Protect You And Your Family From Identity Theft By Mack Jackson Jr. PART 2 - Continued from Issue #8 June 19th Add a little bit of body text2. Keep photocopies and records of your credit cards and other accounts in a safe place. This will make it easier to contact your account providers, and cancel your accounts quickly, should your cards be stolen. This goes for Internet providers, banks, and other passwords, too. 3. Never give your Social Security number to someone without knowing the recipient. If asked for your Social Security number, always ask the question why. And if they don’t need it, don’t feel obligated to provide it. Ask if there is some other information you can give them in lieu of this important personal information. 4. Change your mail habits. The safest way to safeguard your mail is to use a locked box. Consider renting a post office box, and drop bills into an official U.S. locked mailbox instead of leaving them in a non-secured personal mailbox in front of your house. Don’t place sensitive outgoing mail into an open bin at school or work. 5. Safeguard your banking information. When you order new checks, have them delivered to the bank instead of to your home or office. The bank will hold them until you personally pick them up. You should also consider paying your bills online. This can often be done through either your own bank’s website, or through your creditor’s website. Many companies will also send electronic bills directly to your email account. 6. Shred. One of the most foolproof ways to guard against dumpster divers is to shred your documents. Before you throw personal data away, put it through a shredder. There are many inexpensive personal shredders available through discount, department, and office stores these days. A cross-cut shredder, sometimes called a diamond shredder for the shapes it cuts the paper into, is safer than a shredder which merely cuts paper into strips – but any shredding is better than none. These shredders are inexpensive and worth the money. You should shred: Credit card receipts Credit card applications Expired credit cards Account statements Loan applications Court records Anything containing your Social Security number Anything containing any personal information Consider purchasing a scanner, scan all documents and save them on your computer system before you shred them. When in doubt – scan, save, then shred the original!

PURDY COACHING

HOW HAPPY ARE YOU? BY NICOLEA PURDY, M.S.

Happiness has measured life satisfaction since the dawn of time, unfortuanetly many still are not as happy as they could be. According to UNLV Simmons OneVIew, 39% of residents in the Las Vegas Valley area report above average or serverly high levels of isolation and lifedissatisfaction. As a life coach in the valley, it is more common to witness everyday life and work problems inhibiiting local residents from optimal happiness, than tragedies such as job loss, death of a loved one, or diagnosis of an illness. In the event of any of these unforseen tragedies occuring, a certified counselor would be more appropriate, however, the specialty of a Life Coach is to accomplish goals and bring lasting happiness. So what exactly is happiness? Methods to obtaining happiness are different for everyone, but remains the constant factor is following a passion. Passion is an innate emotion that intrinsically motivates individuals to accomplish a desired outcome. So in short, passion is what takes the edge off of life by bringing personal fullfillment. Many people are passationate about their careers, hobbies, and organizations. You name it, and there’s a fan club somewhere In the world. Seeking and uniting with these members of your passion automatically elimminates isolation, which is half the battle and the number one symptom of depression and life-dissatisfaction.

While passion brings about true happiness, it does not guarentee financial security, so just don’t quit your day job to pursue your passion full time without planning. This is when contacting a Life Coach would be of great benefit. If you find yourself looking to escape the hustle of the 9 to 5, or wishing to spend more time doing what you love, a trained life coach assist in turning your dreams into a reality.
