WHAT'S YOUR NETWORKING STYLE? Part Two By Ronnie Roll
This is Part Two of a series to help you recognize your natural networking style and perhaps explore a few others.
The BumbleBee – Unlike the hummingbird who's built for speed, the bumblebee's gifts lie elsewhere. A bumblebee moves more slowly from flower to flower, thus spending more time with each potential source of pollen. The bumblebee also has developed a very unique way of working with flowers that may be more reserved in releasing their essence. The bumblebee has designed a way of opening up those flowers by vibrating in a very special way that even honeybees can't duplicate. As a result, the bumblebee flies away with some of the most succulent pollen. The bumblebee networker takes more time getting to know a prospect. This networker takes time to learn about the prospect's other interests and lets the prospect talk more than the bumblebee does. Perhaps there are questions that are used to determine if the prospect needs or wants the bumblebee's offerings, but the prospect feels like the bumblebee networker cares about them because of the amount of time invested and the questions asked. Thus they are willing to open up more during a conversation, exposing potential pockets of pollen the bumblebee networker may be seeking. The downside to this method of networking is the obvious amount of time required to determine if a person is an actual prospect. In a large crowd when the goal is to reach as many people as possible with your message, this may not be the style to use. The upside is that this style is capable of building longer-term relationships, begins to establish trust, and opens doors to other avenues which might have gone uncovered. 2012, I began my own “S/hero’s Journey”. Prior to that I’d dabbled in finding my purpose for years. By the date that I actually began, I was so frustrated that I couldn’t tell whether I was coming or going. It was then that I realized that I was actually standing still. I wasn’t moving at all. It was then that I panicked and decided that I needed to do whatever was necessary to change the conditions of my life. The ocean is my place of immediate calm. So much so that in June 2010, I prayed “Why do I need to go to the ocean in order to function?” As melodramatic as this may sound; I “heard”. . .because it is there (the ocean) that you “overcome challenging emotions attitudes and negativity”. I was excited because in that answer, was the word ocean: O-vercome; Challenging; E-motions; A-ttitudes; and N-egativity. Aha! Here was my purpose. I was to coach others on The O.C.E.A.N. Method. Practicing yoga; meditating and tapping/EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique); I believed that my purpose was to coach others via The O.C.E.A.N. Method based on my practice.
However, before I could coach anyone else; I had to test it on myself. Little did I know that the “test” would become my life. My handwritten notes on my beta testing of The O.C.E.A.N. Method would evolve into “Emotional Physical Therapy” the concept. Emotional Physical Therapy the concept would become “Emotional Physical Therapy: 120 Days to Infinity” workbook (Amazon ISBN-13: 9781492703136/ ISBN-10: 1492703133). Emotional Physical Therapy has led me to dig deeper; go farther and to commit to fully living from my heart space. A day in the life of a bankruptcy Attorney Several years ago, I worked in a Bankruptcy law firms following the real estate crisis. It is a very somber experience and Augusta describers it with great sensitivity below: Today, I sat across from a gentleman in his sixties. Let’s call him Bill. He came in for a free consultation regarding filing a petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. He had the saddest blue eyes and fine gray hairs and you could just tell he was anxious… and perhaps depressed. As I sat across from him, hJe pelted me with one question after another about his particular situation and I listened intently and took notes. However, I could see he was struggling with his decision.

asked him, “Why do you think you need to file for bankruptcy?” He paused a moment, then lifted his sad blues eyes to look up at me. Voice breaking he said, “I just can’t take it anymore. I’ve tried to do the right thing but nobody will work with me. I look into my future and I don’t see how this could get any better. I will be 66 next month and I sacrificed for this country. I am not asking for a handout, I just need a break
Can I start over?” Then his voice broke down completely and I had to give him a moment. "As a bankruptcy attorney, who spends most of her time with Chapter 7 liquidation clients, I see this often. My clients generally comprise of hard working men and women who want to totally do the right thing" They’ve worked hard their entire lives and in their golden years, sickness, or death, or a catastrophic event robs them of their hard earned money. Or they have small children or massive student loans. Or they got hit with the economic recession. Or they tried to send their adult kids off to college. Whatever the situation, the reason they come into my office is the same: they need a fresh start. A do-over. And I love helping them. I told Bill I enjoyed helping my clients. "I fell in love with America from a very young age and knew I always wanted to live here. At the first opportunity I packed my bags and came over. However, as I got older, I realized that this beautiful

land of opportunity was filled with so many traps that could send you to the poor house. Some of us make bad choices. Some of us are victims of the system. And we just need a fresh start. A chance to make everything right and implement the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Sure, there are folks who abuse the system, but for the most part, I as a bankruptcy attorney work with honest-togoodness hardworking men and women who life sometimes gives a raw deal.
