Thank You Once Again… for joining us at One Magical Weekend to help us kick off Pride Month at Walt Disney World® Resorts! What began in 1991 as a small group of friends who spoke in an online chatroom and decided to meet face to face, wearing red shirts at the Magic Kingdom® in Orlando on the first Saturday in June, has now grown to become one of the largest LGBT events in the world. This June will mark 28 years since that happened and the weekend has grown to become an international sensation where thousands upon thousands of LGBTQIA+ travelers from around the world descend on Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resorts and the surrounding area for four days of Pride Month events. One Magical Weekend is proud to mark our 10th year at Walt Disney World® Resorts. With your support, we will be here for a long, long time during THE FIRST WEEKEND OF JUNE each year to welcome LGBTQIA+ travelers from around the world here to celebrate with PRIDE. “Red Shirt” Pride Days include Disney’s Animal Kingdom® on Thursday, Disney’s Hollywood Studios® on Friday, Magic Kingdom® on Saturday, and Epcot® on Sunday. Of course, One Magical Weekend’s 8 events include Riptide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark, RED vol. 3: #STRUT at Disney Spring’s House of Blues, 3 WE Party Pool Parties at the B Resort & Spa, and 3 Cadabra After Hour parties at Old Town. This year – for the first time – experience Miss Adventure Falls, the latest addition to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark’s amazing waterslides, splash down Crush ‘N’ Gusher all night until 2 a.m., and dance the days away at the B Resort & Spa with Europe’s hottest pool party themes: Carnaval, PINK, and Sandia!
Sixteen Amazing International DJs * Eight World-Class Events * One Magical Weekend One Magical Weekend begins with Friday’s WE Party: Carnaval Pool Party at the Official OMW Hotel – the B Resort & Spa on Disney property with DJs Erik Armiliato and Louis T. Friday Night includes the iconic Riptide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark with International DJs GRIND and Toy Armada. Late Night? Catch the buses from the B Resort & Spa and enter into the magical spell of Cadabra After Hours with the amazing DJ Alyson Calagna! Start your Saturday in a PINK mood at WE Party: PINK Pool Party. Dance and party to the sounds of DJs Edil Hernandez and Tommy Love. As the 28-year tradition warrants, don’t miss the Main Event at Disney Springs House of Blues – RED vol. 3: #STRUT. Wear your RED with Pride and get ready for a “heel” of a ride with International DJs Ivan Gomez and Nacho Chapado. Saturday late night Cadabra After Hours – be mystified by DJs Alex Acosta and AJ Reddy until 8 a.m. in the morning! Sunday’s line-up? WE Party: Sandia Pool Party with DJs JB Burgos, Ben Baker, and Guy Scheiman – from 12 noon until 10 pm! These masters will bring their Magic all day long. Cadabra After Hours begins at midnight with DJs Alex Ramos then with PAULO’s magical OMW finale until 6 a.m! None of this happens without you! Girls in Wonderland, Tidal Wave Party, Parliament House and One Magical Weekend Commit to Keeping Orlando’s LGBT+ June Tradition Alive You may have heard recently that one entity of a 28-year Orlando June tradition will move its events to new date and location in 2019. What began in 1991 as a small group of friends who spoke in an online chatroom and decided to meet face to face, wearing red shirts at the Magic Kingdom® in Orlando on the first Saturday in June, has now grown to become one of the largest LGBT events in the world. This June will mark 28 years since that happened and the weekend has grown to become an international sensation where thousands upon thousands of LGBTQIA+ travelers from around the world descend on Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resorts and the surrounding area for four days of Pride Month events including Girls in Wonderland, Tidal Wave Party, PI @ Phouse, and One Magical Weekend. “Let’s be clear, a private company that started seven years after the initial gathering does not own the tradition, nor does anyone else, but we are committed to what started in 1991 and our dates are NOT changing!” said representatives from Girls in Wonderland and One Magical Weekend, “There are reasons that this date has held fast over the years and the date is the date. We will always kick off LGBT Pride Month the first weekend of June at Walt Disney World® Resorts!” “Parliament House believes that June is the right date” said owner Don Granastein “We will work with Girls in Wonderland, Tidal Wave Events and One Magical Weekend to continue Orlando’s best weekend ever in LGBT Pride month.” “Tidal Wave is committed to continue bringing our guests a venue filled with diversity, love, harmony, and fun” said Danny Gallegos of Tidal Wave, “We welcome everyone, take pride in a judgment free venue, and look forward to this year and beyond.” Many things have changed in the LGBT community since 1991 and one of the main things is terminology, we have gone from Queer to Homosexual to Gay/Lesbian to GLBT to LGBT to LGBTQIA and so on. Since the name originally associated with the first weekend in June events are no longer inclusive enough, Girls in Wonderland, Tidal Wave Party, Parliament House, and One Magical Weekend are asking for the communities help in deciding, together, what the new weekend name should be.
