WORLD AIDS MUSEUM: The World AIDS Museum idea grew out of the Fort Lauderdale based group, Pozitive Attitudes, a topic driven support group for people infected or affected by HIV. Around 2007, the facilitator of this group, Steve Stagon, started creating historical HIV/AIDS exhibits as topics for discussion. Eventually, Steve began to display these exhibits at the Pride Center of South Florida as well as at Blanche Ely High School. As HIV/ AIDS exhibits by other artists had also been displayed at the Pride Center, and other members of the Pozitive Attitudes group also showed interest, the idea of a museum took hold and on September 20, 2011, the World AIDS Museum was incorporated as a non-profit organization. Their mission today is to increase awareness and decrease the stigma of HIV/AIDS by documenting, remembering, educating, enlightening and empowering. 1201 NE 26th Street #111

BONNET HOUSE MUSEUM & GARDENS: By the time early settler Hugh Taylor Birch purchased the Bonnet House site in 1895, the grounds had already witnessed 4,000 years of Florida history. Bonnet House’s modern history began when Birch gave the Bonnet House property as a wedding gift to his daughter Helen and her husband, Chicago artist Frederic Clay Bartlett in 1919. Upon Helen’s death, Frederic’s visits to Bonnet House became sporadic until 1931 when he married Evelyn Fortune Lilly. Together they embellished Bonnet House with the decorative elements that delight visitors to this day. Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic places in 1984 and declared a historic landmark by the City of Fort Lauderdale in 2002. 900 North Birch Road Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 Phone: 954-563-5393 HISTORIC STRANAHAN HOUSE & MUSEUM: Stranahan House is the home of Fort Lauderdale pioneers Frank and Ivy Stranahan. More than a decade ago, the City of Hollywood was dubbed a “City of the Future” because its diversity most resembled what experts predicted all of America would look like in 2025. Hollywood was proud of this distinction back then and continues to celebrate and embrace its reputation as a diverse and welcoming community. Hollywood has long been known as a place where people of all backgrounds and beliefs feel comfortable, a place that offers easy access to the best of South Florida while still preserving the hometown charm that sets it apart. With more than 6 miles of blue wave beaches, a historic oceanfront Broadwalk, and an eclectic downtown with one-of-a-kind restaurants, shops and art galleries, Hollywood truly has something for everyone. As a member of the GFLGLCC, Hollywood is committed to supporting entrepreneurship and to helping ensure business and economic opportunities for the LGBT and the LGBT-friendly community. Hollywood and its Community Redevelopment Agency recognize that small businesses are the foundation for strong communities and the City is proud to partner with the GFLGLCC to promote the success and growth of business enterprises that share the values of inclusivity and equality of opportunity for all. Hollywood was founded by in the 1920s by a visionary leader who sought to create a dream city by the sea that would be a welcoming place for all. Today’s Hollywood still seeks to be a dream destination for visitors, residents and businesses. Let us know how we can partner with you to help you achieve success in Florida’s Hollywood. Sincerely,

Josh Levy Mayor of Hollywood
