And so the fourth annual Gay8 Festival is upon us and what an amazing ride it has been! First and foremost, thank you for your support and encouragement. We hope you have a fantastic time today in what has become the country’s largest Hispanic/Latino LGBTQ event. The original idea for the festival was to connect people, ideas and cultures that usually don’t intersect - what we call civic engagement. It was based on the concept that when people share an experience, a place and time; pre-existing barriers
and erroneous notions come crashing down and what you’re left with is unencumbered human contact which generally leads to positive interactions (a hell of a good time!) Gay8 is whatever you make it and whatever you derive from it. Our job today is to host and welcome you and then get out of the way. We will simply let you all appreciate the enchanting surroundings of Little Havana and let the positive human interactions flourish so we can all celebrate together with our family, friends and community.
