It was great to again see so many faces ready to work and build on our craft! As a recap, the big takeaway from last rehearsal was rhythm. When a song has a consistent rhythm and, in fact, uses that rhythm as its most important musical feature, we MUST treat it as sacred. Thus, that is the item that deserves the most care during song preparation, both in rehearsal and individually. Now, there are a number of different ways to internalize rhythm,

from hundreds of reps along with the learning tracks to moving with the rhythm to snapping your fingers. So your homework for the week is this: how do we make that happen so we don't have to address it again next week? And that was the other big theme of last rehearsal: building habits and trends. Every week we spend most of the rehearsal going over the items we discussed the prior week. So, what can we do about that? Here's three suggestions, though you're free to find your own methods: rehearse at home every day on the topics we discussed, bring your music every week and take notes, and record yourself singing in rehearsal. Each of these has ways it can benefit both you and the people around you! But most of all, ask yourself a simple question: do you WANT to do the same things every week, or do you want to do something different, perhaps more engaging and musically satisfying? And if your answer was the latter, then what can YOU do to assist in making better rehearsals every week?

Finally, we introduced the songs that will be the 2023 Competition Chorus songs: I Have Dreamed and Good Luck Charm. I'll post the links below to videos of the two songs, and the charts and tracks will be available within a week or so. We'll release more details about the audition process within the coming weeks, but essentially, as of right now, plan on singing both songs in a quartet in your audition. We'll update you all with the specific criteria we're looking for in a future email / Forhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzetDk6a3Z8https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GP1B4jee620meeting.nextweek,we'llworkonmostofouractiverep

One final heads-up: plan for Xmas music starting next month! More to come later... Thanks everyone, see you all Monday! -Chris ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Requests for Upcoming Shows

~ ~ ~ ~ Song

One quick request - at least 2 people asked me about singing a specific song on a specific show, as well as mentioning something in the intro for that song based on someone who will be at the show or someone in the community that the audience knows. If you were one of

since we have a show the following Saturday. So, for next week, plan on the entire clam festival set list with the potential to add a few more songs beyond that.
