Covid Policy Reminder
"The Downeasters Chorus takes the health of our members very seriously. Members and guests are welcome to come to our meetings, as long as you are feeling well. We generally follow CDC guidelines. We require that you can produce evidence of at least the first two Covid vaccines if asked. Plus, do not visit us for at least 10 days after a flu-like illness or if you tested positive for Covid, and wait 5 days if you believe you have been in contact with someone who is ill or tested positive for Covid. If in doubt, please take a Covid test the day you plan to come."
Apologies for the delay on this - been a long week... This will be less of a recap email and mostly just a heads up on next week.
Reminder: be the person everyone wants to sing with: work on your music every day/week, fix the few targeted items we discuss during rehearsal, bring your music and a pencil, and come ready to grow and develop each week!
For next week, we'll bring back Hallelujah and Softly, and we'll spend some time with Bare Necessities, Blue Skies, and Caroline. Heads up: How High the Moon will be back the rehearsal after Memorial Day - BE PREPARED to work that song please! See you Monday!
-Chris

I came upon this in my travels on YouTube, it may not be Barbershop, but they are a very famous quartet! And while we are here, from The Music Man, below…

Live at Royal Hall, London, England - 8 March 1963
"Till There Was You" is a song written by Meredith Willson for his 1957 musical play
The Music Man, and which also appeared in the 1962 movie version. The song is sung by librarian Marian Paroo (Barbara Cook on Broadway, Shirley Jones in the film) to Professor Harold Hill (portrayed by Robert Preston) toward the end of Act Two. It became a hit for Anita Bryant in 1959, reaching #30 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and spending two weeks at #14 on Cash Box. "Till There Was You" was later covered by the English rock band the Beatles in 1963.
