Music Notes…

Clam Festival Show Before the weekend gets too far away from us, just wanted to congratulate you all on an incredible show yesterday! The clam festival show can be a mixed bag due to the various pitfalls, such as an exhausted and sweaty chorus and a weird outdoor stage. However, you all did a fantastic job - some of the best singing we've done in quite a while!!! A few individuals/groups to thank before I sign off here: Fred Moore and Jim Curtis for preparing the chorus for my anticipated absence. A huge portion of the great singing is on your shoulders - thanks!! Roger Buck and Mike Soper for staying behind and running our business in the booth while we performed. Since I've missed most of this weekend, I'll let others comment on the tireless and incredible work our members did to make this a profitable weekend. However, we're here because we love to sing, and Roger and Mike gave that up this weekend so we could keep running smoothly, so a huge shout-out to them!!!

Our quartets for representing the chapter so well during the show! And an individual recognition to Jim Fortin for stepping into PCS and doing an awesome job! -Chris

Wrap-up Re Clam Festival I am so proud of our chapter! You all did a fantastic job working the Clam Festival booth and doing any job that needed to get done. Many of you had never done this before, and none of the new people were scared away by the frenzy and long hours of tedious work. A special thank you to those of you who brought family members to help as well! All together we were well-staffed all weekend. Clam Festival is our single largest source of income, for things we love to do like buy music and tracks, pay for contests, share funds for quartets to have successful endeavors, and many other things that support our vibrant BHS chapter. We have had successful Clam Festival years before, but this year our gross income was TWICE that of our best in the past. It was teamwork at its best. We will be tallying expenses over the next few weeks, and there will be a report of our net. I plan to send a similar note to our brothers and sisters in harmony, the Nor'easters Chorus and Royal River Chorus. Without them we would not have been close to keeping up with demand. So rest your weary bones and pamper yourself this week. I know I will! ~ Mike

Thanks to all who helped and sang yesterday in our first Clam Festival show since 2019! It was well-attended and based on audience feedback, and how it felt on stage it was a solid performance! Special thank you to Fred and Jim who were prepared to step in to direct but our fearless director was able to rally and both direct and perform! And... thanks you Port City Sound, Common Bond, and Mach 4 for representing our quartets so well! George p.s. the new stage configuration was really nice in that nobody had their heads in the tent this time!

Special thanks to Mike Soper, who had to navigate through a huge number of new, previously unknown and daunting challenges to put it all together. ~Fred

It's been said already and will be again but this wouldn't have happened without a heroic effort from Mike. Attending meetings, working around shifting suppliers, scrounging for

refrigerators. You all know he was there non-stop over the weekend, which is crazy enough, but there was, and continues to be behind-the-scenes effort that makes things happen!
