Covid Policy Reminder
"The Downeasters Chorus takes the health of our members very seriously. Members and guests are welcome to come to our meetings, as long as you are feeling well. We generally follow CDC guidelines. We require that you can produce evidence of at least the first two Covid vaccines if asked. Plus, do not visit us for at least 10 days after a flu-like illness or if you tested positive for Covid, and wait 5 days if you believe you have been in contact with someone who is ill or tested positive for Covid. If in doubt, please take a Covid test the day you plan to come."
Can you tell we have a busy month coming up? Lots of events, the energy is really high in rehearsal... More and more fun every week!
In the performing chorus, we talked about Irish Blessing, Nevertheless, and Bare Necessities, and we remembered a huge number of talking points from last week! This is better and better, because it's the only way we'll get better as a chorus! That said, we also discussed Hello Mary Lou... again... Please fix those rhythm spots on "forever more" in the first verse and "so Hello" in the chorus - let's prove to ourselves that we can conquer little mistakes like those!
In the competition chorus, we ran the set twice. We also talked about week over week homework: rewatch the videos and start performing in front of a mirror. The goal of this competition chorus is growth and retention - working at home by watching the videos and doing other individual exercises is the only way to make that happen!
Next week, please feel free to invite friends and family as we celebrate the return of contest season and, one week later, the return of our annual show. Additionally, former member and Music judge Cay Outerbridge will join us and spend an extended time with the competition chorus, as well as a chunk of time with the performing chorus. COMPETITION CHORUS: PLEASE BE READY TO START AT 6PM SHARP!!! Performing chorus, thanks in advance for your patience as we work the competition songs with Cay for a slightly longer session.
Songs for the performing chorus: Nevertheless, Blue Skies, and Irish Blessing
See you all Thursday for the Sea Dogs game!
-ChrisYarmouth Music Boosters Event
Music Medics,
Last Friday night a few of us supported the Yarmouth Music Boosters event, Yarmouth's Got Talent (YGT). It was all about scholarships to kids K-12, and there were two shows yesterday afternoon and evening at the High School. We donated $500 to their program, and four of us volunteered to scan tickets at the door. It was a packed house (they sold out both shows in 2 minutes online!). I estimate they raised $10k - $15k, and YOU (our Downeasters!) were part of that success. Many cute and innovative acts; kindergarteners on piano and violin, martial arts, dance, rock groups, soloists, and more. Some photos attached. We got some billing via logo (see the stage backdrop), the program, and Glenn's son Aric gave all the sponsors a shout-out as MC.
A special thank you to Brian B, David B, and Scott K for their time and dedication. But also to all of our members for the fundraising we do that enables us to support local outreach like this. We will do more of this for others, and continue to spread the good word about Barbershop.
Mike
