Music Notes…

Rehearsal Recap 04-11-2022 Once more, thank you to all who participated so vigorously throughout the prior contest weekend! You made wonderful music as a chorus, and your chapter quartets greatly appreciate the support and applause we heard on Friday and Saturday nights! As for the recap of last night, there's not much to say from the musical perspective. A lot of voices were tired after such a long weekend, so we kept it short and simple and went out to celebrate at Pat's afterward! One big change was announced though, and it pertains to the

"music on the risers" policy. Going forward, I am asking everyone to bring their music to the risers every week. This is because I am encouraging everyone to take notes regarding the musical items we discuss each rehearsal. It is a lot easier to notate these items in the moment, rather than to try and remember them later. So, my request is that everyone brings their sheet music and two pencils to each rehearsal. Why two? Well one for you of course and the other for the guy next to you who forgets his! As a note, this does NOT change the off-paper policy. When we say a song needs to be 'offpaper', it means that we need you to be able to sing the entire song without the aid of your sheet music. By allowing it on the risers, we want it there as a means to take notes only and not to be used to "get through the song." If you cannot sing the entire song "off-paper", I ask you to have a seat while we work that song to ensure we get the most out of our rehearsal time. Otherwise, next week we will be reintroducing a couple of our lesser-sung songs: Hallelujah and Softly As I Leave You. We will also spend some time on What a Wonderful World and Irish Lullaby, and you will likely see rep runs of Blue Skies, Cop on the Beat, and Nevertheless. See you Monday! -Chris
