Delta Alpha Alumnae Newsletter

Recruitment Update By Amanda Grischow This year, fall recruitment has gone really well! We held three events, including a leadership night, a philanthropy night, and a sisterhood night. The Delta Alpha chapter also participated in a combined Panhellenic night with Alpha Phi. All of these events had a great turnout. During the first event, Ashley Konkel talked about various leadership opportunities that Alpha Xi Delta can offer to members. The second event was philanthropy night. At this event Angie Fersch gave a presentation on Autism Speaks, the events our chapter attends, and the efforts that we put fourth to raise money for our cause. At the third and final event, Jenna Smith shared what sisterhood means to us. She gave a presentation that gave the girls an inside look at the friendships and fun times that come out of being an Alpha Xi. Thirty potential new members attended these events, and seventy potential new members attended the Panhellenic night where a general presentation was given about what it means to be a sorority woman. We have had the opportunity to meet a lot of great girls throughout the past few weeks, and will be giving out seventeen bids!

At 2:00pm we will have a chapter meeting, which is available for all alumnae to attend.

Alumnae Aunt Program Being a member of Alpha Xi Delta is something that lasts a lifetime. The Delta Alpha Chapter is introducing the Alumnae Aunts Program to establish better bonds between our Initiated Members and our Alumnae. We are looking for alumnae who are interested in volunteering to become a part of this program. This program will allow you to be matched with a member based on similar interests and or career paths. You and a member will become pals through email to keep in touch and get to know one another. This is a minor commitment that gives you the chance to meet and mentor a young woman who is going through the college experience. If interested, please contact Ashley Konkel at AXiDdeltaalpha@gmail.com to find out more.

Day at the Game

Philanthropy Update

By Ashley Konkel This past weekend we were able to kick back and watch some UW-L Football with Delta Sigma Phi. It was great hanging out with the guys and tailgating before the game. We cooked some hotdogs, played some slam can Frisbee, and just had a great time.

By Angie Fersch Walk Now is taking place on October 12th, 2013 at the Mall of America. Our chapter can’t wait to participate in this. So far we have 15 girls in attendance to go and hopefully more after bid day! This same weekend we are also going to have fall retreat and stay in a hotel near the Mall of America. Our goal for the walk is to raise $500 and we have almost met our goal. We would love to see some of you attend and participate with us. Join our team through the link or donate to help our teams cause! Last year Walk Now had 3,000 people and we can’t wait to make the walk and even bigger event this year to help support Autism Speaks.

What’s Happening in UWL Greek Life? By Ashley Konkel UWL Greek Life was given the opportunity to facilitate Grocery Bingo Night for the New Student Orientation Center. We were so grateful for this opportunity to get to know the new students of UW-L and hang out with fellow Greeks. It was a huge success and we got over 90 names of people who are interested in learning more about Greek Life here at UW-L. This year, we also held an event called ‘Meet the Greeks’ where students could learn more about Greek Life along with snagging a tasty treat. The ice cream social was the perfect way to draw people in to find more out about the fabulous benefits of becoming Greek!

Eagle Guide – Freshmen Orientation By Ashley Konkel Five sisters had the opportunity to be involved in organizing the New Student Orientation program for freshmen and transfer students. These sisters were called Eagle Guides in which their job was to help the new students of UW-L get acquainted with campus and become involved in the organizations that this campus has to Pictured above is Kenzi Johnson, Callie Devens, offer.
