April 2015 Recap

AmaXing Challenge The sisters of Alpha Xi Delta here at UW-La Crosse had a successful Autism Awareness Month! On April 11th, 2015, we hosted our biggest fundraiser of the year, our 5th Annual AmaXing Challenge: Step It Up 5K! We were proud to have hosted more than 70 participants and raise over $3,500 for Autism Speaks. A special thank you all of our friends, family, and alumnae (pictured bottom right) that came into town to participate. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Initiation Initiation night is always an exciting time for the Delta Alpha Chapter. We initiated our Pictured (left-right): Newly initiated sisters new member class of ten sisters and had a Claire Goldbin, great time reconnecting with alumnae that Bridget Bellissimo, and Jules Cruz stopped in to help us celebrate this special night.

Bake It Up Blue In an effort to raise even more awareness for Autism on campus, we held our first ever Bake It Up Blue Bake Sale! Sisters sold blue cupcakes, rice krispie treats, and puzzle piece cookies. It was a great way to start conversations about Autism with other students and brighten up someone’s day with a sweet treat!

Striking Out Autism

Our sisters were happy to continue our partnership with the UW-L baseball team and host our second Striking Out Autism game! Facts about Autism were displayed on the big screen throughout the game and sisters got to promote awareness when volunteering at the field’s service booth.

Inspiring Women’s Spa Day Each year, sisters recognize the inspirational women in their lives and show their appreciation by inviting them to attend our Inspiring Women’s Spa Day. This year sisters and their guests got to rejuvenate by making facial scrubs, painting nails, and sharing why their chosen guest inspires them. A special thank you to all who attended!

Board Game Social Sisters got to mingle with more members of the UW-L Greek community during our board game social with the gentlemen of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Everyone had a blast going back in time, remembering some of their favorite childhood and classic board games!

Greek Awards Banquet

Every spring, the Order of Omega organizes a Greek Awards Banquet in order to recognize chapters and individuals doing outstanding work within the Greek community. Sister Allison Steyer (pictured left) received recognition for having the highest GPA in our chapter, Erin Wysocki (pictured right) was named Ms. Sandman for her never-ceasing hard work, and Abigail Gnewikow (unable to be pictured) was named Madame Greek for her dedication to spreading Greek unity. Alpha Xi Delta was also awarded Greek Week points for the fall by donating the most canned goods at the banquet, winning the “Soup-er Award (pictured middle).

Thank You! Without your love and support, we would not have had such a successful semester recruiting new sisters, raising awareness for Autism, and growing in sisterhood. We cannot thank our parents, family, alumnae, and advisors enough for their continued dedication to helping us better ourselves and our chapter. We look forward to the coming semesters and thank you for coming along with us on this journey!
