Emma Burleigh Artist of the Month Emma is passionate about the vibrant, glowing and unpredictable qualities of watercolour. She’s interested in everyday life, the inner life and the layers of life in between. She’s currently working on a series of paintings exploring ‘the light within’, as well as painting her ‘autobiofictional’ graphic novel. Her artwork features in the Hamilton House shop as well as other venues in the city. Behavioural Happiness Tues 1st Nov, 6-8pm, £90 (Three week course) In this 3 week course & group workshop, Chloe Foy brings 2 years of research in behavioural science from the London School of Economics and techniques from the coaching world into practice. Through ‘Decide, Design and Do’ you’ll use an evidence-based approach and the power of accountability, to re-design your life in ways which influence your unconscious mind and help change not just how you think, but what you do.

Storytelling Sunday: Unlock My Cage Sun 6th Nov, 7-8.30pm, £8.50/ Conc £6.50 One of the UK’s top storytellers, Michael Harvey (pictured) performs a captivating Breton tale of crossdressing, a huge hairy man, and a plot that twists and turns like a vine ascending a towering oak… Part of CoResist’s monthly Storytelling Sundays. 4


Learn Cartooning Thurs 10th Nov, 7.15-9pm, £75 In a series of fun exploratory classes, you’ll learn very practical techniques for writing and creating your own unique cartoon. We’ll explore why good jokes are hard to remember, why the primate mind craves the gap between the unexpected and expected – why it thrives on crossing that gap – and how a cartoon can provide that explosive eureka moment.

Beyond the icebergs. All the way to the edge… Matt Grinter, one of the region’s busiest young directors, has worked with fine-artist-turned-writer Hugh McCann on this beautiful yet darkly surreal, madcap romp across the globe that will leave you breathless - but with a smile on your face!

Dark Tales of Hans C. Andersen Tues 29th Nov, 8-9.20pm, £10/ Conc £8 A young girl chops off her feet to rid herself of possessed shoes. A man’s shadow frees itself to stalk its former owner. The tales of Hans Christian Andersen are dangerous, disturbing and impossible to define. Adapted by Toby Hulse, and brought to the stage by Cheers Drive Theatre in a thrilling and theatrical mix of storytelling, physical performance, music and dance, this exploration of the darker side of the fairy tale world is not to be missed. 6

The Life and Times of Imayla 2nd -13th Nov, FREE, Working out of Hamilton House, Imayla offers learning opportunities for young people and families combining creative arts and environmental activities. This exhibition will celebrate their ‘Wildly Different’ programme over the past 3 years and launch their successful continuation with ‘Even More Wildly Different’! There will be workshops throughout the exhibition- mandala making, printing, mobiles, lantern making and more for all ages tand a chance to consider what nature means to you. There will be a celebration night on Thursday 10th November, from 4-8pm in the gallery space.

The Original Spinners 14th- 21st Nov, FREE, An exhibition celebrating the work of The Original Spinners CIC, a community arts organisation who create performances, run workshops and events based around play for all ages and all communities. Including some of the beautiful images taken by photographers who have documented our work, alongside costume and props from our performance work. There will be an opening night on Tuesday 15th November at 6.30PM, as well a playful dance workshop for all ages set to a beautiful soundtrack on Saturday 19th November 11-12.30pm. 7
