Our purpose with “Dixie and the Zombie rebellion Zombie” was not just to make another film in the “Daddy I’m a zombie” saga, but to take a step forward in quality terms. We have a strong storyline, full of action and fantasy which juxtaposes the zombie world with the world of the living. For this second film we have created new worlds and new characters. However, we have also made use of the material generated in the previous film, allowing us to take on an ambitious script with limited resources. Through this saga, we hope to build a large team of Basque animation professionals, continuing the work first begun 4 years ago. Over this time we have invested in technical and artistic R&D, which we have applied in each production; this has allowed us to improve continuously with each new project. We believe that the technical and artistic level achieved with this film marks a major step forward for Basque animation and will help position us once again at the forefront of the animation industry in Spain.
“Dixie eta Matxinada zonbia” filmaren helburua ez da “Aita Zonbia naiz” filmarekin hasitako sagaren beste pelikula bat egitea izan, baizik eta kalitatezko saltu bat ematea. Hau dena posible egiteko, akzio eta fantasiaz beteriko istorio bat dugu esku artean, hilkorren eta zonbien arteko gatazka abiapuntu duena. Bigarren film honentzako mundu berriak, pertsonaia berriak eta eszenografia berriak eraiki ditugu, baina horrez gai,n aurreko filman sortutako guztiaz baliatu gara baliabide mugatuekin anbizio handiko gidoi bat aurrera eramateko. Saga honi esker, Euskadiko animaziozko profesionalen lan talde bikain bat sendotu nahiko genuke, horretarako orain lau urte hasitako lanari jarraitasun bat ematea ezinbestekoa da. Tarte honetan I+G an inbertitu dugu, bai lan talde teknikoan, bai artistikoan eta hobekuntzak produkzio bakoitzean ezarri ditugu, egunez egun proiektu berriak hobetzeko asmoz. SYNOPSIS SINOPSIA October 1983. Basque refugees Joxean Lasa and Joxi Zabala go missing in Bayonne. Twelve years later, the bodies, murdered and buried in quiclime are found and repatriated in a climate of great tension. The inquiry begins and Iñigo, the lawyer, with his young assistant, Fede, investigate the inner circle of Civil Guard Colonel Rodríguez Galindo. On the long and laborious path to prove their allegations, they will have to confront the dirty tricks of a group that clings to power at any cost, overcome their own disputes and even put their own lives at risk. 1983ko urria. “Lasa and Zabala” is an audiovisual project dealing with one of the most controversial –and high-profile incidents– in the so-called “Basque conflict”, tragically protagonised in recent decades by Basque society and the rest of Spain. The events provide sufficient material to produce a fictionalised version of the story, in much the same way as has happened in British and Irish cinema, in a way that allows it to live on as part of the country’s history and narrative. Now, with the cessation of violence in the Basque Country, a new political and social scenario has emerged and it is possible to approach this story in a way that is respectful to those involved, their friends and next of kin and also to the actual historical circumstances. In cinematographic and fictional terms, we plan to tell it the story as a crime thriller, given that it contains a large number of elements that clearly belong to the crime and detective genre. We also want to avoid depicting the characters in polarised terms of “good and bad”, which would make the story less effective. Instead, we prefer to show them in all their subtle shades of shadow and light, bringing greater complexity to the events. Insofar as our budget allows, any scenes of demonstrations and police charges will have to be rigorously credible and have sufficient visual muscle to ensure that viewers feel the full tension and emotion of the story; again, the closest example comes from British cinema and Paul Greengrass’s “Bloody Sunday”, for its power and visual strength.

Francisco Tenamaztle, leader of the native american rebellion known as the Mixton War has been captured and will soon be moved to Spain, where he will probably be sentenced to death. Convinced by Fray Valerio, Painalli, a respected tameme indian, must escort Doña Elisa, a spanish noblewoman to the coast. Elisa has information which will save Tenamaztle and may condemn the corrupt officials of the New world. But whenviolent ensign Díaz and his group of mercenaries are sent to stop them, Painalli and Elisa must overcome their diferences if the want to have a chance to bring justice to the new world. The sixteenth century is a very dak period in Mexican history, filled with beautiful and often brutal images which offer the perfect material to be captured in a film. This opportinity offers a great range of visual and creative opportunities which lead, through a solid manner, towards the director’s final design. I am going to allow this “medieval thriller” to be dictated by colors, illumination, behavioral models, narration and a sense of chaos in order to exalt its misticism. taking into account the subject’s fineness and the subteltly of the message, it is necessary for a new visual language to be concived, with attitude and personality, which will define The Load. The different perspectives and points of view will also play a very important role in The Load. I will use the Historical Fiction Genre to guide me trough its fixed actions. For example: using overhead shots to make the audience unconfortable, constant movement of both the cameras and the characters in front of them, elegant wirephoto and, sometimes, damages which shall be found on strategic scenes to sugest intruders. All of this done with the aim of creating a feeling that our characters are not only being pursued, but are under a microscope, observed by many and bursting in their personal space and their peace. all of it to strenghten the audience’s feeling of pursuit and urgency. the visual esthetic will be taken care to the utmost detail through precise shots, classic compositions and fluid movements to help the audience concentrate in the intense drama which is being presented in front of them, without using any tricks or camera effects. All of this will be stablished from the very first scenes in the prison and the church, and will be mantained through the entire film.

SYNOPSIS SINOPSIA Zambrano is a young criminal with notable sporting aptitudes. He arrives with the only hope of joining the legendary prison American football team, know as The Dogs os Santa Martha, he never imagined that his sporting aspirations over time would involve him in a crimen organization, because The Dogs are also know as the 4th company the death squadron inside the penitentiary in the service of the Administration. Although they enjoy privileges and control the jail, prisions are barely school of crimen, because Santa Martha is the University and now they must graduate. The story takes place in López Portillo´s presidency and El Negro is the capital city´s police commissioner and under his command, corruption and crime have no limits. So the 4th company deceives the city with car thefts, banck robberies and other crimes under the auspices of the authorities. In this story, we follow the evolution of a great team; in sport, in crimen and in their relationships. Zambrano loses his innocence in a process as intense as the one in which he gambles and cannot ever be recovered. We see the jail very early on; during childhood, during youth... It was impossible to reman indifferent to that experience. Those familiar with prison say that once inside, you Discovery who you are or find out you are nothing. However, for most prisoners, the reality is different and is reduce to mere survival. “La 4ª Compañía” is a true story, in which unprecedented conditions converge that result in a story Rich in narrative and plot. But above all it tells of the struggle for survival in a very dangerous prision; a battle that, for genetations, millions of human Bering have lost hopelessly, with no justice, with no understanding. Reflections os the subject are welcome; for us the Basic element is related to dehumanitation that prevails in our times, both inside and outsider prision: “to release the World from evil, a systematic evil has been created...” Behind “La 4ª Comañía”, there is maticulous research that allowed us to reconsturct the story silenced by force. Whit issures such as freedom, power, friendship, cime, royalty and resentment, the scrip is a profound and original stoty that runs along three main lines: person life, the sporting excellence of a marginazed team and the increase in organizad crime. Zambrano (a young sportman and criminal) provides the viewpoint to a narration full of characters that out be captured in a drama os constant tension between the brightest abd darkest corners of the soul: an expedotion of the human condition.

POSSESSED is my masterpiece as director of animated films. It is where I apply everything I learned in recent years making short films. From the most traditional animation techniques, step by step, to the most complex 3D integration techniques, and yet every day we discover new things. Because even stop motion has more than a century behind, it continues evolving in the digital age. All references to the humor and horror films are treated with the utmost detail to create a context and fresh and different characters. Although it is a remake, it does not parody situations of other films. I present it as a tribute to the great classics of horror, but in this case it is directly related to “The Exorcist” and “The Prophecy”. It is completely a new film; anything like this has never been done before. It is like Berlanga directed an episode of “Coyote and the Road Runner.”
POS ESO nire lan gorena da animaziozko zine zuzendaria naizen aldetik, bertan azken urteotan film laburrak eginez ikasi dudan guztia jarri dut, pausuz pausu egiten den animazio tradizionalaren teknikak eta 3D eta efektu bereziak integratzen dituztenak. Stopmotion deritzon animazioak bere bizkarrean mende bat baino gehiago duen arren, garai digital honetan eboluzionatzen jarraitzen du eta egunero gauza berriak aurkitzen ditugu. In 2009 I worked on a story about the negative influence of unleashed ambition on love and affection within the context of the Spanish economic crisis. Hence, when the “Auken report” was published, I closely followed the reaction of Spanish media to the devastating evidences of urban planning corruption pointed out by the team of the Danish parliamentarian. However, to my surprise this report hardly found any repercussion in the media or in politics in Spain. I immediately noticed that a clamorous silence led by hidden interests tragically echoed the recent burst of the housing bubble in Spain. This actually spurred me to chose that background for the characters of “Once upon a crisis”.

Nire harridurarako, ordea, txosten horrek ez zuen eragin mediatiko ezta politikorik izan ia Espainian. Une horretan konturatu nintzen isiltasun interesatu hori, berriki eztanda egindako burbuila inmobiliarioaren ohiartzuna zela. Niretzat, “Sapos y Culebras”eko protagonistek ibiliko ziren eremuaren pizgarria.

One of the main reasons to make this film is, without doubt, make justice with the girls who suffered in her flesh the injustice of a time and which, in many cases, had to leave their children with awareness or not. Being almost teenagers, they did not have more options that to accept what their families and environment force them to do. There has always been, is and will be people willing to take advantage of the weakest.

SYNOPSIS SINOPSIA The protagonists of this documentary are people whose history and inheritance still lives on today. They fought for a “better world”, but other more powerful actors emerged to design a made-to-measure “free world” in which there was no place for those comrades, some of whom who had given their lives fi ghting against fascism while others had been pursued, rounded up and expelled. Sixty years later, we travel to one of the few places of that exile where the memory of those last witnesses is still alive. There we learn the real reasons and the details of that cruel outrage and the involvement by certain countries in their negotiation and organisation. In one of my many dives in the twentieth century history somebody suddenly spoke to me about an event that took place in 1950 in France: the French government expelled from France to 400 people without any judicial process. I find that half are Spanish Republicans, there is a Basque among them. I start to get outraged. I go ahead: they are exiles who after participating in the Spanish Civil War joined the resistance against fascism and risking their lives, liberated much of southern France. Now I am filled of emotions. After winning in World War II, they continue the fight against fascism and try to kill Franco through the Aran Valley. As they fail, they keep fighting and risking their lives to destroy the last bastion of fascism in Europe. But paradoxically their fight against Franco begins to bother because Spain now it’s interesting to USA even for a fascist dictatorship. In France, the comrades go from being cheered and admired by the population to be considered as dangerous by the government: from heroes to terrorists. Perplexity is what crushes me. I hasten to pack when I discover that one of those heroes, with their 95 years old, still live in the same place where he was deported. During intense days, with a mixture of all previous emotions, I’m at his home in Corsica listening from his mouth the Comrades narration.

Eguraldi mapa ere kontsultatzen du goizero, bere herrian izango den klimaz arduratuta. Piera burkideak bere memoriak kontatzen dizkigun bitartean dagoen sosegu bisuala etengabe moztuko dute artxibategiko dokumentu eta irudiek. SYNOPSIS SINOPSIA Fernando Larrain Errazuriz is a descendant of Baztan, and the origin of his family in Chile is 1733. In Chile this family has had four presidents of the republic, cardinals, congressmen ... It’s an “aristocratic” family. The main paradox: on the one hand, the difference of the Basque origin of the family of the protagonist and his current status in Chile; on the other hand, the loss of the original surname of the protagonist in the original villages and in the province. Fernando Errazuriz, who has learned Basque perfectly in Chile, doesn’t know if he is going to find the traces of his family in Baztan. Txilen familia honetako kide asko goikargudunak izan dira: errepublikako lau presidente, kardinalak, kongresistak... Familia “aristokratikoa” da. This documentary called La sangre tira will make us reflect on migration and the attitude of the people toward it. But also on the way we treat migrants, our attitude toward people coming from another world, our inner, our own values. Thereby, La sangre tira film’s goal is to rescue our origins in order to think about our idiosyncrasy, partly generated by a cultural inheritance that is a result of our migratory mixture. We aim to arouse the interest of the public in their family past and the unanswered questions each family has. We wish to promote tolerance and respect between us, by recognizing our differences and identities. This documentary, bringing the two opposite worlds closer by the universal phenomenon of migration, puts them in contact and connects them, and it’s a privileged witness of one of them. But it doesn’t take sides for any –it shows events as they take place and relate the experiences of the protagonist and his reactions in the face of them. Each reality he finds on his way is one more step to get to know a country that he feels very close and very distant at the same time, as it’s the result of migration, miscegenation, mix of races and cultures.

Umezurtzak (The Orphans) opens with an act of terrorism in the 1980s and closes with two young people falling in love in the early years of the 21st century. The time that goes by between one human action and the other decisively contributes to explaining certain series of causes and consequences. The film aims to say that behind the violence that some people inflict on others in the name of such-and-such an ideological construct there is a pain – among the victims – that can take a lifetime to heal. However sometimes, as is the case in this story, this possibility, however random and complicated it may seem, is just around the corner. The only thing that is really important in situations like this is to ensure that this very possibility doesn’t fade away. The story is the staging of an act of long-delayed mutual recognition between a former murderer who has never been able to forget what happened and his victim’s daughter. Both face a tireless struggle to move on despite themselves. Separately they are not going to be able to do this, and together their efforts are doomed to failure. In Bilbao, two youngsters who have nothing to do with the passions of their elders look at the world in a different way and aim to try and stay together even though nobody is going to make it easy for them. Umezurtzak is a story in two periods: a time of fear and of silence; years that have now gone on for too long, and a time that they need to start to live as soon as possible, full of hope rather than bitterness.

SYNOPSIS SINOPSIA Gabriel is a young prosecutor whose ordered life is thrown into chaos when he receives a call from the Canary Islands, telling him that there has been a mass suicide involving members of a cult. His younger sister, Cordelia, was one of the cult followers. Gabriel hasn’t seen Cordelia for years. Something happened between them that pushed them apart and sent their lives along very different paths. Gabriel decides to travel immediately to the island to find out what happened and to help the police with their investigations. SYNOPSIS SINOPSIA Basque Country, 11th century. A group of basque sailors are going to the norht sea. A storm carries the boat to a place that is unknown to them: the Norwegian fjords. They are harassed by one of the most savage Viking clans of northern Europe, who chase after them to hunt them down and capture them as slaves. Making their way through enemy Viking clans, slave markets, boats that are warriors’ tombs and remains of pagan cultures, the seamen must cross the fjords in search of a way of returning to their own land. In the city of Bruges, Heiko meets one of the seekers of the rings keepers who tells him that his friend Ozoillo has a Gift. However one day Birdy –incapable of overcoming his addiction– went missing from school and never came back. And in 2012, Basquefilms is looking back on these landmarks in “Pelota II”, a documentary that shows the tensions that have arisen from the profound transformation in the world of pelota, and the place in which it is played, the Basque Country. Organised by the House of Peace and Human Rights and Donostia Kultura, its objective is to promote the debate and the reflection and to raise the audience awareness about the violation of the human rights in all the world through the universal language of cinema. So, the Festival aspires to inform and to form the citizens through a program as attractive as possible.
The Official Selection presents a selection of the most recent and unseen feature films made worldwide in the last year, all in competition for the Golden Shell and for the rest of the Official awards. In addition, The New Directors competition exhibits first works made by filmmakers across the world, and Horizontes Latinos shows the best Latin American feature films. The programme includes the usual sections, as well as new proposals: Zabaltegi, the most varied, surprising and appealing films of the year; Pearls, the best feature films of the year acclaimed by the critic and/or winners of international festival awards; Culinary Zinema; Savage Cinema; Zinemira; Made in Spain… The Festival also includes retrospectives in the programme.
Organised by Donostia Kultura, the Horror and Fantasy Film Festival took its fi rst steps in 1990. Horror movies, sci-fi , animation, short films, classics from all over the world… alternate with shows, exhibitions, concerts, comic-book encounters, edition of books… The Old Town becomes during some days in a big horror party.
Bakearen eta Giza Eskubideen Etxeak eta Donostia Kulturak antolaturik, bere helburu nagusia, lengoaia unibertsalaren bitartez, eztabaida, hausnarketa eta ikusleen sentikortasuna bultzatzea da, munduan zehar urratzen diren giza eskubideen inguruan. Beraz, zinemaldi honek, ahalik eta egitarau erakargarrienaren bitartez, herritarrak informatu eta hezitzen saiatzen da.
Sail Ofizialak urteko ekoizpen zinematografiko berrienen eta argitaratu gabekoen aukeraketa eskainiko du. Film horiek Urrezko Maskorra lortzeko lehiatuko dira, baita gainerako Sari ofizialak eskuratzeko ere. Horrekin batera, Zuzendari Berriak lehiaketak nazioarteko zinemagileen lehen lanak eskainiko ditu, eta Horizontes Latinos sailak berriz, Latinoamerikako film onenak. Programan ohiko sailak eta eskaintza berriak ere izango dira: Zabaltegi, film sorta ugari, harrigarri eta erakargarriekin; Perlak, kritikak goraipatutako eta nazioarteko zinema jaialdietan saritutako lanekin; Culinary Zinema; Savage Cinema; Zinemira; Made in Spain… Gainera, atzera begirakoek osatuko dute programa.
Donostia Kulturak antolatuta, Fantasiazko eta Beldurrezko Zinemaren Asteak 1990ean hasi zuen bere ibilbidea. Beldurrezko, zientzia fikziozko, animaziozko zinea, film laburrak, eta mundu osoko klasikoak aurkituko dituzue antzerki, erakusketa, kontzertu, eta komiki eta liburu argitalpen bezalako jarduladien artean. Hiriaren alde zaharra ikararen jai batean bihurtzen da egun hauetan zehar. Culinary Zinema; Savage Cinema; Made in Spain... The 38th San Sebastian International Diving Film Festival, will be celebrate the 3th to the 7 th of November of 2014. As every year we will do a selection of the best diving films and also we will try to invite the best directors and cameramen. For the next edition we will have several features to improve it.
Zinegoak, the Bilbao International GayLesbian-Trans Film Festival was launched in 2004. The aim is to bring to a Bilbao audience (and a wider Basque one) a type of cinema that is independent, social and vindicatory that is entirely absent from the Basque commercial circuit. Its end: denounce the violation of Human Rights on the LGTB community all over the globe, show the sexual and affective diversity and become a meeting point throughout high-quality films. Since a very modest start, it has become one the most important festival in the European scene, with more than 9 venues, more than 80 films and proyections in a docen towns in Euskadi.
Originally born in 1994 as a film exhibition by the hand of a group of Fantasy films lovers, and currently organized by the Department of Culture and Education of Bilbao Town Council, Bilbao Fantasy Film Festival FANT is dedicated to films of this genre with the idea of making available, as much to fans as the general public (particularly the youngest film goers) releases that do not reach our screens through conventional channels of distribution and exhibition, as well as offering retrospectives of classic horror, mystery and science fiction films.
Donostiako 38 garren itsaspeko nazioarteko zine zikloa, 2014 ko Maiatzaren 3tik 7 ra ospatuko da. Urtero bezela, egitaraua itsaspeko pelikularik onenekin egingo da eta baita ere, kamararik eta zuzendaririk onenei gonbidatzen saiatuko gara. Hurrengo ediziorako berrikuntza batzuk eskainiko ditugu hobekuntza filosofiarekin jarraitzeko.
Zinegoak 2004ean jaio zen, bilboko eta euskadiko ikuslegoari zinema independientea, soziala, eta aldarrikatzailea eskaintzeko asmoz, erakusketa komertzialaren zirkuituan ez delako aurkitzen horrelakorik. Helburua: mundu osoko LGTB biztanleriaren giza eskubideen bortxaketa salatu, sexu-afektibitate aniztasuna erakutsi eta kalitatezko zinearen bitartez bilgune bilakatu. Hasiera umila izan zuen baina gaur egun Europear panoramako GLTB zinemaldirik garrantzitsuenetariko bat da, 9 sederekin Bilbon, 80 lan baino gehiagorekin eta dozena bat baino gehiagoko euskal udalerriko proiekzioekin.
Bilboko Zinemaldi Fantastikoa (FANT) erakustaldi bezala jaio zen 1994ean zale batzuen eskutik eta gaur egun Bilboko Udaleko Kultura Sailak antolatutzen du. Bere asmoa, bide arruntetatik heltzen ez ziren pelikulen estreinaldiak ikusleen, batez ere gazteen, eskura jartzea eta baita beldur, misterio, edota zientzia fikziozko klasikoen atzera begirakoak egitea zen.

The International Unseen Film Festival ‘Social Films’ from Bilbao transforms the screens into mirrors reflecting human stories of thirty countries. A wide variety of evidences gathered in works of fiction, documentary and animation that invite to reflect on Human Rights, Gender Equality, interculturality, sustainable development... HQ AlhóndigaBilbao and Golem Cinemas as central venues and other 17 between Bilbao, Barakaldo, Erandio, Portugalete, Mungia, Iurreta, Elorrio, Leioa and Getxo, noting that 8 are Public Secondary Schools and Vocational Education Schools. The Festival has achieved again gender parity in its participation. This year again, the INVISIBLE EXPRESS, aimed at students of the Basque Country University (UPV / EHU).
Founded in 1959 and currently organized by Bilbao Town Hall’s department of culture, Bilbao International Documentary and Short Film Festival (Zinebi) recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) as an international competition of the highest quality has as its fundamental objectives to bring to the people of Bilbao the most recent world production of short films and documentaries, paying special attention to the Basque, Latin America and Spanish sphere, as well as to promote the Basque audiovisual industry and Bilbao as an ideal space for filming all kind of audiovisual projects through the Bilbao Film Commission (BiFiC ).
CORTADA is a short fi lm festival that started in 1997 that takes place in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Sponsored by the Campus of Alava in the Basque Country University (UPV / EHU), is a national contest that rewards works of fi ction, animation and documentary, not forgetting the local proposals GUREAK grouped in sections (short Basques) and HEMENGOAK (Short Alava). Two new sections are Unilabur (students from universities in Spain) and Ehulabur (UPV/EHU students).
Bilboko “Film Sozialak” Ikusezin Zinema Jaialdiak zinemen pantailak ispiluak bihurtzen ditu 30 herrietako giza istorioak islatuz. Giza Eskubideen, Genero parekotasunaren, Kulturartekotasunaren eta Garapen iraunkorraren gainean, hausnartzera gonbidatzen dutenetako aniztasun handia duten fikzioa, dokumentala eta bizitasuna lanetan jasotako lekukotasunek. Egoitza zentrala Bilboko Alhondigan eta Golem Zinemetan izan du, guztira 17 egoitza izanez: Bilbo, Barakaldo, Erandio, Portugalete, Mungia, Iurreta, Leioa, Getxo eta Elorriorekin batera. Hauetako 8 BHI eta GLHBI institutuak direla nabarmenduz. Jaialdiak gizon eta emakumeen arteko kopuru berdintsua lortu du partaidetzan. Aurten ere UPV/EHUko ikasleentzako “INVISIBLE EXPRESS” dago.

Filme Ekoizleen Elkarteen Federazio Internazionalak onartu duen bezala, kategoria goreneko lehiaketa maila duen zinemaldi honek, alde batetik, film laburren eta dokumentalen (bereziki euskal, espainiar eta latinoamerikar arlokoak) mundu mailako ekoizpen berriena aurkeztu nahi du, eta bestetik, Euskal Herriko ikus-entzunezko industria bultzatu nahi du, Bilbao Film Commissionen (BiFIC) bitartez gure hiria errodatzeko espazio ezinhobetzat aurkeztuz edozein motako proiekturako.
CORTADA 1997 urtean hasitako Vitoria- Gasteizko film laburren jaialdia da. UPV/EHUko Arabako Campuseko babesarekin antolatuta. Film labur nazionalentzako zuzenduta dago jaialdia. Animazio, Dokumental eta fikziozko lanak onartuta daude, hemengo lanak ahaztu Gabe: GUREAK (Euskal filmak) eta HEMENGOAK (Arabakoak).
