Be aware that drinking alcohol in the street is illegal, and you can be fined from 30€ – 1500€ according to the severity of the disturbance. Please keep quiet between 22:00 and 8:00. Your neighbours will appreciate this, as they are not on holiday. Lower your voices as soon as you enter the building as sound carries up the stairs, and some people may also have the window open. his summer, Desigual invites its customers to sail along Barcelona’s coastline on an authentic pirate ship, the “Jolly Rogers”. It is the third year that the iconic international fashion brand, created in Barcelona in 1984, offers its customers the unique experience of privileged views of the city which inspires them daily. The “Jolly Rogers”, with its special Desigual touch, sets sail from Barcelona Naval Tours, on Moll de Drassanes, next to the Columbus statue and the entrance to the bridge that provides access to the Maremagnum Shopping Centre. Passengers can enjoy the city’s skyline between Barcelona’s Port Vell and Fòrum with a route that passes the Desigual headquarters (next to the W Hotel) as it sails past Barceloneta, the Golden Fish sculpture by Frank Gehry in

Port Olímpic, and other landmarks along the coastline. Tickets can be obtained with a minimum purchases of 89€ at Desigual stores located in Barcelona and on the coast. To enjoy the cruise, shoppers need to become “Amigos of Desigual” at www.desigual.com or at the stores when making the purchase. Seven journeys are scheduled daily until late October. They range from 55 to 75 minutes of sailing time, depending on each person’s preference. Tours are currently being filled to capacity and are highly recommended. WATER PARKS Temperatures continue to soar, and one of the most pleasant places to be right now is in the water. Those of you looking for some extra fun can check out these internationally renowned water parks, with slides and rapids for kids of all ages to enjoy. Many of Barcelona’s municipal sports centres have an outdoor pool, and non-members can pay a daily entrance fee. There are also a couple of larger pools away from the centre where you have more space to stretch out and catch a tan in between dips.

Offering a fun day out for the whole family, this aqua complex has a wave pool, rapids, water games and a pirate-themed maze, among the 22 aquatic attractions and three huge swimming pools. The large park, picnic and barbecue area also gives you the option to relax and refuel throughout the day. Only a half an hour train ride from Barcelona, this activity day out will be a highlight of your summer.
A seaside theme park complete with restaurants, roller coasters and waterslides, PortAventura presents an entire world of fun at your fingertips. The PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park, with over 34,000m2 of water-based attractions, offers a vast array of themed beaches, enticing slides and rapids, wave pools and paradise parks. Whatever the age, this water-world is fun, entertaining and energetic.

Its incredible vantage point on the mountain of Montjuïc offers spectacular panoramic views of the city. This old water-tower-turned-swimming-pool is situated within a delightful park. The water is shallow, which is ideal for kids, and it's the perfect place for a family picnic after the kids enjoy playing on its sandy “beach.”
The biggest pool in Barcelona, this huge lake offers an oasis of serenity for the locals of Nou Barris. It also has one of the largest lawn areas in town, where you can relax, read, sunbathe, play and have a picnic. Bring your frisbee!

NOVA MAR BELLA BEACH Catch some rays on one of Barcelona's most relaxing beaches, further away from the centre. Its sand slopes gently into the water, and there is more space to swing those beach bats. The elegant Bambú chiringuito, with its white decor and lounge beds, plays Balearic beats. Sunrise is especially magical, stay up all night or set your alarm.

TOSSA DE MAR This pretty town on the Costa Brava is just over 100km north of Barcelona, and a perfect destination for a day trip – or even better, a weekend away. Tossa has it all – long golden beaches, secluded rocky coves, a wealth of history to explore, and great restaurants. DISCOVER TOSSA DE MAR One of the most important Roman villas was the Casa Ametllers, at Avinguda del Pelegrí, 5. Its thermal baths, mosaics, fountain and majestic rooms will transport you to another era. BEACHES The natural landscape of the Costa Brava is breathtaking. Platja Gran stretches in front of the town, and the smaller Platja d’Es Colodar is ideal for those seeking more seclusion. Take a short drive or longer stroll up the coast and you'll find plenty of picture-perfect gems such as Cala Bona and Cala Pola, rocky coves with azure waters framed by dark green pine trees.
MUNICIPAL MUSEUM Enjoy a blast of culture at Spain's first contemporary art gallery, which opened in 1935. Tossa was a haven for avant-garde artists and intellectuals, including Marc Chagall and André Masson.
RESTAURANTS Fresh fish is definitely a local speciality, and if choosing tapas make sure you try the fish options such as calamari and sardines. The street of Carrer Portal has several good restaurants, including traditional fisherman style cuisine at Can Comas, (Portal, 22), and Can Carlus, (Portal, 20), and local Mediterranean specialties at Can Pini, (Portal, 12).

ver a million people are expected join the fun that descends on the Gràcia neighbourhood from the 15th-21st August, for one of Barcelona's biggest and most colourful annual events. More than 20 streets and squares are transformed into magical outdoor venues for 600+ different performances and activities, with a mind-boggling agenda that includes Catalan traditions, plenty of live music and spectacular street art. Children can enjoy workshops, puppet shows and interactive entertainment. The community element remains strong; vermouth tastings attract an older crowd, who also set up tables for their own meals in the street, and dance sultry boleros and rumbas until late into the night. The first impression when stepping into the streets can only be astonishment at the care, attention and creativity that is lovingly poured into its many decorations. Artwork abounds with huge papier-mâché models and recycled materials that take on a new lease of life as
robots, jellyfish and hedgehogs, and balconies fill with flowers. As the evening unfolds it’s all about the music, with many live bands and DJs. The busiest stages in previous years have been in Plaça Revolució, Plaça del Sol, and Plaça de la Virreina, with acts ranging from Catalan indie rock to 8 piece Latino ensembles and DJs playing rumba, rockabilly and reggae to an up-for-it crowd. Traditional events are definitely not to be missed. The unmistakably pagan correfoc - “fire-run” - is a highlight, with diables, or devils dancing through the streets brandishing fireworks that spin around a long pole, showering sparks in all directions. Human castles reach up to the skies in Plaça Rius i Taulet. Some of the most impressive towers created to date have been eight and even nine storeys high. The 25th edition of the Ripollet Rock Festival is just a short bus ride away from Barcelona, on August 24th. EIXAMPLE Home of Modernism The first thing you'll notice is this district's distinctive grid structure with roads that cross in diamond-shaped blocks. The Eixample was built between 1850-1910 and is renowned for its many Modernist buildings created by different architects.
