Lou Haskell joins Tioga Downs Race Office Tioga Downs is proud to announce that Lou Haskell will be joining the race office as Assistant Race Secretary during the 2011 race season. Haskell was born and raised in Saratoga Springs, New York and grew up in the business of horse racing since he was a toddler. He purchased his first horse at the age of seventeen and has been an active owner in the harness racing business his entire life. Haskell graduated from SUNY Plattsburg with a degree in Marketing and up until four years ago had been a self-employed entrepreneur his entire life. Lou graduated from the USTA judges school at the top of his class just a few years ago, and for the past two years has served as an Associate Judge in Kentucky at The Red Mile. "I made a decision a few years back that I really wanted to pursue a career on the management side of harness racing and now I am getting that opportunity. I am excited to be joining the team at Tioga to work

with some of the younger guys in the industry and to work for a company that cares about the future of harness racing" said Lou Haskell. "We are fortunate to have a guy like Lou joining us at Tioga Downs this year. He will certainly be an asset to our race office and all of us are looking forward to working with him" said Jason M. Castellucci’s 13th Annual Dinner February 11, 2011 Town of Owego Supervisor, Donald Castellucci Jr., will host his 13th Annual Rigatoni and Meatball Dinner at the Owego Elks Club. The event begins with a social half hour, featuring the talents of Dennis and Rosemary Chapdelaine. Comments and

Apalachin Lions Club Scholarships 2011 The Apalachin Lions Club 24th Annual Scholarship program will award $3000 in scholarships to deserving students from the class of 2011 who live in the 13732, 13760 and 18830 zip codes. This covers Apalachin, Campville, NY and Little Meadows, PA. The scholarships are awarded to students who have made outstanding contributions in service to their community and school. Distribution of scholarships will be as follows: Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to students who attend Owego Free Academy and Vestal High School and one $500 scholar-

ship to a student attending Montrose Junior-Senior High School. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who attends either of the following schools: Seton Catholic Central High School, Broome Tioga BOCES, Ross Corners Christian Academy, and Home Schooling (LEAH). The distribution of scholarships is based on the relative numbers of students from Apalachin, Campville and Little Meadows attending each of the schools.
