Hello and welcome to Ladymade! We are committed to showcasing the work of creative women. When it comes to summer, one of the easiest and most fun ways to support your local woman-in-biz is to purchase products from her! Thus, our first ever Summer Shopping Guide. Shopping online isn’t always fun: you want to try, or smell, or sip, or just visit with a human being while you shop! While we haven’t figured out a way for you to do all of that virtually, we have engineered a central location where you’ll find all of your favorite local makers—and we’ve elevated the shopping experience to mimic real-life purchasing as much as we can. On that note, here’s my suggested way to this guide: • Browse the pages of the guide as you would any print catalog, going back and forth as you like. • If you see a brand or product that appeals to you, learn more by staying on that page and reading the “fine” print. • When you’re ready to buy, click one of the available links on that page to be taken to the maker’s site, where you’ll purchase directly from her. • Don’t forget to take note of the special offers, where listed, offered only to catalog readers!! As you know, in-person shopping is either canceled or severely limited, and will be so for the foreseeable future due to Covid-19 restrictions. For those in retail who typically see the most profits during the tourist season or while selling at in-person summer festivals, the change to sell mostly online is a massive challenge. We’re humbled and grateful to play a small part in making sure the local economy flourishes and our favorite makers, artists, and business owners stay profitable. Grace Hager Grace Hager's still life paintings pair collected, secondhand objects and textiles with natural subjects. Her focus on color and pattern highlights the attractive motifs and designs found in nature. Her subjects include houseplants, flowers, pottery, and other daily objects that deserve to be observed and preserved. Grace earned her BFA in Painting with a Minor in Art History from the Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine, and continues to make art inspired by a connection to nature in her current home of shoreline Connecticut.

Alex has been exclusively constructing and custom designing hoops for 3 years. She also creates and teaches at The Glass Source and teaches several Yoga classes around the state of Connecticut.
Allie Bruch is an interior designer, stylist, wallpaper hanger, artist, and landscape guru. She brings a creative eye and unique design flair (with a San Francisco twist!) to New England’s homes and landscapes. She takes inspiration from the objects all around us, shapes in nature and art, and her own home and family.
Amira is an artist who wants to use her creativity in an equitable manner and fashion to help others. She uses art to expand the notion of narrative art with conceptual concepts.

Amy is your local artist. The simple, whimsical style of her watercolor drawings capture the beauty of the everyday, including landmarks, pets, houses, beloved objects, fruits & vegetables. She works in her Wallingford studio, where she loves to make time-lapse videos of her process.
Anna Ramirez is a creative and enthusiastic play workshop builder and leader. She wears silly tee shirts and has pink/blue hair. For the past 6 years she has brought entrepreneurial grit and childlike wonder to manifest her dreams of bringing cultural change and transformation through creative play and artmaking.
Avé is a Connecticut-based artist who loves happy colors and quirky themes. She’s inspired by nerdy pop culture and emotions, and hopes her fun loving spirit shines through each piece she creates.

Ayesha has been making jewelry since she received a set of glass beads for her 9th birthday. She has a degree in sculpture, and founded Ayesha Safa Jewelry in 2016. She is inspired by geometry and mathematics, Islamic design, and her experiences growing third generation Muslim in rural Tennessee.
Briah believes art making connects women to the great divine, energizing and empowering them to shine their light on the world. An artist and art therapist, she invites women, and herself, into a creative community to channel the divine and illuminate life through heart and hand.
Carolyn is a Fused Glass artist who creates jewelry that reflects peace, balance, and harmony. She takes inspiration for her collections from the light, colors, and reflections of nature, from the CT shoreline to French impressionist art.

Cheryl is an apothecary artisan whose line of small batch, handcrafted botanical products was born out of her love of plant magic, the power of Mother Nature, and Grandma’s “secret recipe” box. She opened A Little Shoppe of Wellness + Plant Magic in 2019.
Chris co-created Great Strides LLC in 2003 to improve the lives of special needs children and their families. Chris’s choice of Naturopathic Medicine and Holistic Wellness started her on a path of service and she is grateful to help as many people as she can.

Danielle is a visual artist inspired by Japanese Brush Painting, the use of subtle lines, creating different values with link, and experimenting with different papers and wet mediums. She continues to develop her own style and practice.
Grace is a still life painter living and working in Branford, Connecticut. In 2015, she completed her BFA in Painting with a Minor in Art History at the Maine College of Art in Portland. Her interests in color, perception, and observational drawing permeate her still life paintings.
Verdilune is the culmination of Heather’s 25 years of jewelry creation. Her hand stamped jewelry bridges innocence & nostalgia by incorporating childhood memories, folk tales, and a fascination with what lies on the other side.

Inspired by nature and the world around her, Heather creates unique jewelry out of hand selected stones, minerals, and other natural materials. A professional designer and merchandiser, this "Crunchy Diva" uses a combination of raw materials and reclaimed objects to ensure one-of-a-kind designs.
Jean Marie believes that to create is truly a blessing and that the ability to take an idea from the mind and then express it in an art form is simply magical. Being able to share that art and have others find joy, solace, or pleasure in it is priceless.
With a background in art education and a love of nature, Jessica started Treefort Naturals Soap Co. in 2012 with a mission to create beautiful, natural soap and skincare products. She and her family live in Colchester, CT and enjoy spending time outdoors together.

Joan, a research administrator by day, is a self-taught watercolor artist using paint to work her way through life’s hills and valleys. She lives in New Haven, CT with her husband, two kids, and two dogs.
Julie is an Energetic & Botanical Alchemist. As the founder/creator of BiolumenEssence, she connects people to the heart and soul of nature while depending on their awareness and experience of their own innate luminosity.
Karina is training to be an Art Therapist and works at a photography studio, all while running her art business! Her focus is portraiture (both humans & animals!), but she loves film, memory photography, tattoo-design, and more. Being able to create meaning for someone means the world to her.

Katy studied Textile Design at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Fashion Institute of Technology in NY. She also studied batik and serigraphy at Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. Her work is continually inspired by the history of decorative art and the value of creating by hand.
Kellie lives in eastern Connecticut with husband Zack, 2YO son Bennett, and two beagles: Ginny & Brutus. Kellie has been making handmade cards as long as she can remember. Watching someone she loves open a card she made brings her immense joy.
Kerri teaches high school art part-time in addition to creating pottery in her home studio. Her love of drawing is added into each piece of pottery with hand carved designs. She hopes that her pottery allows you to connect to your special place in nature.

Lakisher Hurst is an avid crocheter who sees the world through yarn-tinted spectacles. She started Sassy Black Yarns in her kitchen with a simple desire to hand dye beautiful color alternatives with sassy names. Her bold, fresh choices give more options to bring that next project to life.
Lisa Nichols is a photographer of food, people and products. A Vermont native, Connecticut transplant and avid traveler, photography is her passion wherever she goes. Lisa runs a food industry & product photography business called Bread & Beast Photographer. When not shooting, she binge watches Drag Race and snuggles with her cats.
Lori and Jeniene are co-owners of Whispers from Lady Olga, a spinoff of the well-known Lady Olga’s in Hamden. Known for their pleasant and unique shopping experience, Whispers has been in business for 14 years and Lady Olga’s over 30 years.

Lydia guides people through life’s transitions, helping them land on their feet and feel embodied. A licensed counselor and board certified art therapist, Lydia combines breathwork, intuitive coaching, and movement to help her clients feel alive, capable, and excited about their lives.
Megan is an author, photographer, and creator who uses her creative work to make spaces of sisterhood for women to come home to their full selves without apology. Her favorite thing is seeing women come together in community; you can also find her with her nose in a book, or her hands in the garden.
Michaela has been interested in the natural world from birth and has been creating art from childhood.She co-owns OG Gardens, a business that designs and builds organic, custom vegetable gardens; propagates many cultivars of plants; and sells unique arrangements and plants for inside and outside the home.

Sami Jo believes women deserve better, cleaner, cruelty-free beauty. She believes in the healing, calming, and beautifying power of nature; using real plant essences, extracts, herbs, and oils—nothing synthetic and nothing produced by animals; and taking care of our planet, our animals, and ourselves.
Sydney is a maker and digital pattern designer residing in New Haven. She believes the practical items we use everyday should reflect our personal style and interest. Her favorite work is creating custom cover designs for the various planners and notebooks she makes.
After traveling the world as a fashion model, working for Vogue, Marie Claire and Harper's Bazaar, Tracy opened her first store, Tracy B. Boutique in NHV in 2006. She opened The Lovet Shop in Downtown Milford in 2013 and has served as Pres. of the Downtown Milford Business Association since 2014.
