Hi and Welcome Back! Ladymade is excited to once again bring you a Shopping Guide full of Small Batch Makers, Artisans, and Service Professionals across Connecticut — all of whom are female. We put these guides together in order to support our vibrant community of creative ladies. As I write this, Covid-19 cases are escalating at an alarming rate, and severe restrictions are being put back into place (or enacted on an individual level, in some cases!). This means the holiday shopping season is greatly compromised for makers & entrepreneurs who would usually bring their wares to in-person holiday markets & fairs. I beg of you: do not resort to buying all of your holiday gifts on Amazon or Target. com! While these big box stores serve a purpose, we must also keep vigilant about supporting our local ladymakers — even more so now, when the future is uncertain. Heck, even the present is uncertain at times! Conscious shopping takes a little more planning. Small batch makers sometimes need more time to get an order together, and custom orders naturally take longer. Let me tell you — the wait is worth it! Buying an experience for loved ones is also an alternative to capitalist gift-giving — and we have lots of options for you to choose from in this guide. When I buy from a small batch maker who’s local to my community, town, or state, I receive so much JOY. And that joy is doubled when I watch the recipient open up her package because I know that I’ve just positively touched the lives of two womxn, all through one act. Supporting one womxn IS supporting all womxn. Finally, I must say a word about supporting Black, Brown, and Indigenous makers. Small business owners who are WOC are in higher danger of losing their businesses, due to years of inequity and systemic racism in our country. Because of this, I have committed to buying from two BIPOC for every one white womxn I support. And I invite you to join me in that practice! As always, Ladymade is humbled and grateful to play our part in making sure the local economy flourishes and our favorite makers, artists, and business owners stay profitable. Annya (Annie) grew up in Jamaica with grandparents who first introduced her to herbs & oils. As a remedy for a rash on her daughter’s skin, she began blending essential oils and natural butters. Avé is a Connecticut-based artist who loves happy colors and quirky themes. She’s inspired by nerdy pop culture and emotions, and hopes her fun loving spirit shines through each piece she creates.
Ayesha has been making jewelry since she received a set of glass beads for her 9th birthday. She has a degree in sculpture, and founded Ayesha Safa Jewelry in 2016. She is inspired by geometry and mathematics, Islamic design, and her experiences growing third generation Muslim in rural Tennessee.

Crystal is a graphic designer / dog lover / coffee drinker born and raised in good ol' Connecticut. She lives in Newington with her husband Matt and pitbull Destiny.
Diane teaches yoga, provides nutritional counseling, and tutors Spanish. She holds a PhD in Holistic Nutrition and a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Her memoir was published in November 2018 by She Writes Press. In July 2019, she was named Westport, CT’s first Poet Laureate.
Ella's life transitions have shaped who she is today, and have instilled in her a passion for creating a sense of community for others. In 2019, she launched Tiny Forest and Nest Studio, to allow women to come together in a safe place where they learn, grow, and connect with each other.

Verdilune is the culmination of Heather’s 25 years of jewelry creation. Her hand stamped jewelry bridges innocence & nostalgia by incorporating childhood memories, folk tales, and a fascination with what lies on the other side.
