or many of us, whether we grew up along Florida’s coast or if we are transplants, the very idea of what is happening in the gulf is heart wrenching. When I first heard about it, I was literally paralyzed with fear about the potential outcome. Almost 90 days later, that fear has turned to anger and dismay. So when one of my dear friends, Lora Hogan, suggested we do something about it I jumped at the chance. To my amazement, in less than a week she managed to band together some of bay area’s finest yoga and fitness instructors ready to channel their anger and fear into action. Her vision was simple. Unite St. Petersburg and Tampa’s yogis in an effort to raise money to help with the clean up effort in a day-long celebratory event. Metal-Free White Dental Implants At Last!!

P

Dr. Jonathan J. Bromboz

atients who are missing teeth or have to have a tooth or teeth taken out wonder what is the best option to replace teeth. Dental implants are the best option because you don’t have to reduce the teeth on either side of the missing tooth in order to place a dental bridge. However dental implants have traditionally been made from the metal, titanium. Although it is the LEAST reactive metal, per Hulda Clark, in Cure for All Cancers, one should avoid metals in the mouth and body. Holistic patients of course would prefer dental implants, but don’t want the metal. Dr. Bromboz of Clearwater is thrilled to announce the availability now of metal-free dental implants. For years non-metal dental implants have been used to replace missing teeth successfully in Europe; but only recently have they been made available in the U.S. Dr. Bromboz is excited to be able to use this truly, bio-compatible Zirconia material for dental implants, at last, for his holistic patients. Zirconia is so strong it has already been used for hundreds of thousands of hip implants.

Even the instruments and the crown placed on top of the implant are made from the same high performance ceramic as that from which the implant is made. This guarantees that you never come into contact with metal in all stages of the work. There is also an added advantage to the nonmetal implants in that they are more pleasing aesthetically. Dr. Bromboz is proud to announce holistic Metal-Free Dental Implants are now available. He knows many patients have been eagerly awaiting their availability for years. Here’s to your health. Dr. Jonathan J. Bromboz practices Holistic & Cosmetic Dentistry in Clearwater, Florida. nner Healings is celebrating their 11th year in Brandon, FL, and owner Billie Odor celebrates 18 years as a Colon Hydro Therapist & Health Coach. Billie’s focus is to assist you while you are becoming familiar with the digestive process. Understanding how your health begins in your colon is a key factor to longevity. You will accomplish this through re-education about food, enzymes, supplements, parasites and colon hydro therapy. They have two rooms in Brandon dedicated to colon hydro therapy using the “LIBBE” equipment. Only on an open system while having a colonic can you allow your body to answer its natural desire to push. During the colonic you tighten the sphincter muscle, hold, feel the cramp, give a little push, and then you relax. Repeat. This is a Kegel exercise also. A little known secret about Inner Healings,

you are bringing your colon to the colon gym. Billie controls the equipment, you control your Kegels. Simple, clean, safe, private. Congratulations to Billie and Inner Healings.

Deserie Valloreo HERBALIST

Herbalism is a traditional medicinal or folk medicine practice based on the use of plants and plant extracts. Herbalism is also known as botanical medicine, medical herbalism, herbal medicine, herbology, and phytotherapy.

Please tell us what you do as an herbalist and explain your personal mission. Some herbalists grow herbs and have knowledge of cultivating and harvesting herbs. I am a clinical herbalist. People come to me when they want to resolve their health concerns naturally. I assess their situation and provide recommendations to help them alleviate symptoms and correct imbalances that are causing their health issues. I also teach people how to make their own herbal medicine and skincare items. How long have you been an herbalist? Why did you get into herbalism? I’ve always had an interest in nature and helping people. As a child, I helped my grandfather tend to his gardens in NJ. He had a one acre vegetable garden, a ½ acre herb garden and many fruit and nut trees. It was a magical place. It is funny how you pick up so much knowledge as a child; stuff that you do not realize until years later. I got into herbalism to teach people how they can use herbs to feel better and live healthier lives. It is very fulfilling. What types of things do you help people with? I spend a great deal of time out in the community giving lectures and at farmer’s markets. Doing this has helped me gain insight into the most common health issues like pain, digestive problems, and insomnia. What type of clients do you serve? It really varies. Women, Men, people of all ages. The one thing they have in common is they are looking for alternatives from mainstream healthcare. Can you give us some examples of different herbs and what they are used for? A few examples of herbs that you can find in your own backyard (in Florida) include Elderberry, Plantain, and Saw Palmetto. Elderberry grows wild in Florida and has been used for years for upper respiratory infections. Plantain also grows wild in Florida and is used both internally and externally. Internally for soothing bronchial passages and sore throat and externally to heal skin and soothe skin irritations including bug bites. Saw Palmetto is known mostly for supporting the prostate as well as helping to normalize hormones. Would it be difficult for the average person to create some kind of herbal toolbox for themselves? What would/should they put in it? Deciding what to put in your own herbal toolbox is the toughest part of creating one. I advise people to base this decision on their personal needs. For example, a family with young children will have different needs than a mature adult living alone. However, there are some staples that cross all genres. Common types of items to include in an herbal toolbox would include a disinfectant, a natural anti-biotic, digestive aids, and pain relievers. Herbs that fall into these categories can be used to create an infusion or decoction (a strong herbal tea), a tincture (liquid extract) or a salve (balm or ointment). These are the types of things I teach people how to www.tampabaywellness.com

make in my workshops. When people realize how simple it is to create their own remedies, they feel so empowered. How accessible are herbs to the average person? I mean, can anyone just go outside and find something to help with a headache or cough? Herbs are more accessible than most other types of medicine because you CAN walk outside and find them. However, it is important that you know for sure that the plant you found outside is the plant you desire. If the herb you seek isn’t in your yard, you will likely find something helpful in your spice cabinet. For example, the herb Thyme is great for sore throats. You can make a tea with it to fight infection and soothe inflammation. If you had to narrow your herbal supply down to five herbs, what would they be and why? Is there one herb that you consider absolutely indispensable and why? Garlic is the herb that I would find indispensable because it is beneficial in so many ways. Due to its anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties, it can be used to prevent illness and help the body to eliminate infection. I love Thyme and Rosemary for their medicinal uses, but also because they grow great in my garden and are so easily accessible to everyone. Echinacea is a little tougher to grow here, but is a favorite for its immuneboosting properties. Tea Tree essential oil is something I use externally almost every day. I dab it on pimples and put it in my shampoo to control dandruff. How do you feel about the standardization of herbal products and how does this affect the herbalist and the consumer?

Elderberry

P lantain

I believe that the best way to consume herbs (and food for that matter) is in a form that is closest to its natural state. When an herb is “standardized” it is transformed into something different. I liken this to prescription drugs because the process of standardization isolates specific components of a plant like prescription drugs do. When you consume an herb in its whole form, it is taken into the body the way nature intended and your body knows what to do with it. Taking it further, I believe tasting the herb provides even greater benefit because it triggers appropriate messages to the brain and digestive system as to what is entering the body.

Saw Palmetto

Deserie Valloreo:

HERBALIST

Due to market demand, over harvesting and habitat destruction there is a serious shortage of medicinal plants. Many plants such as American Ginseng, Black Cohosh and Slippery Elm, to name just a few, are on the endangered list. What is being done to counteract this problem?

ing them at local farmer’s markets. The products ended up being more popular than my workshops!

There is a great organization called United Plant Savers whose mission it is to, “protect native medicinal plants of the United States and Canada and their native habitat while ensuring an abundant renewable supply of medicinal plants for generations to come.” This organization was initiated by one of my mentors and heroes, Rosemary Gladstar. Many people refer to her as the “godmother of herbalism” in the United States. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet her at an herbal conference this past June.

After getting my Deserie and Rosemary Gladstar certification as a clinical herbalist, I began offering individual consultations to help people with specific health concerns. Currently, I am putting together a series of natural health workbooks and videos. My mission is to empower people to take control of their health naturally. I believe the workbooks and videos will be another effective way to achieve this.

Tell us about your company, HerbalWise. HerbalWise was formed two years ago with the idea of teaching hands-on workshops for people to learn how to make their own natural remedies. To get the word out about my workshops, I created therapeutic herbal tea blends and tinctures and started market-

HerbalWise products and services are offered through the offices of alternative health practitioners in the community. These typically include acupuncturists, massage therapy centers, chiropractors, and medi-spas. Currently, I teach the majority of workshops at Acupuncture and Herbal Therapies in downtown St Petersburg and take

appointments for consultations at Gulfport Natural Health Center in Gulfport. I also do educational talks and herbal “tea parties” at various offices in Pinellas, Hillsborough and Manatee counties. I have an online storefront, HerbalWise.us.com, where people can register for a workshop, book a consultation, or buy one of my herbal teas or tinctures. What makes your business unique and sets you apart from your competition? I put my heart and soul into my work as an herbalist. It is my life. I genuinely want to help people learn natural ways to feel better. I treat each person the way I would want to be treated. This allows people to trust me and believe in the care that I give them. When people believe they will get better, it is my opinion that they have an advantage over those who are uncertain about getting better. Another thing that sets me apart is that I utilize Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostics to identify and address underlying imbalances rather than just treating symptoms. My goal is to help my clients resolve their health concerns for good, not just give them something to temporarily mask their problem.

Is there anything you wish people knew about your business that they probably don't know? I really enjoy getting out into the community and connecting with people. It brings me great joy to share my knowledge at community events, health fairs, senior centers, professional associations or any group of people interested in learning more about natural ways to improve their health. Where do you see herbal medicine in twenty years? Medicine originated with plants. The old quote from Hippocrates rings true today and will ring true in 20 years “Let our food be our medicine and our medicine be our food.” If there are no more plants, there will be no more people. I get the sense that over the next 5 years many people will return back to the roots (pardon the pun) of medicine. It seems that people are fed up with mainstream healthcare or just can’t afford it. Contrary to this, anyone can grow and use herbs. I am here to help teach them how. --Deserie is a member of the American Herbalist Guild, Herb Research Foundation, Florida Herb Society and the Florida Native Plant Society. What is Wellness? Wellness / good health has traditionally been viewed as freedom from disease; thus, if you were not sick, you were considered healthy. This perspective is changing. While everyone agrees that the absence of illness is one part of being healthy, it doesn't indicate whether you are in a state of well-being. Wellness, as a state of health, is closely associated with your lifestyle. Each person has a responsibility to provide for such health essentials as good nutrition, proper weight control, exercise, and controlling of risk factors such as smoking, alcohol and drug abuse. These things all play a role in wellness. Wellness research shows that Americans who take care of themselves and manage their lifestyles are healthier, more productive, have fewer absences from work, and make fewer demands for medical services. An article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association indicated that, in one study, the "wellness" approach resulted in a 17 percent decline in total medical visits and a 35 percent decline in medical visits for minor illness. The subjects involved participated in a year-long self-care education program.

Since lifestyle has been found to be the single most important factor determining your pattern of general health, it is important that you be educated to "take charge" of your daily life and to set healthy lifestyle goals. The choices you make have a dominant influence on your health ad wellness. The secret is not in medical care, but consistent self- care. While traditional medicine concentrates on alleviating or curing disease, the wellness approach encourages you to take personal responsibility for your well-being. Wellness is not the mere absence of disease. It is a proactive, preventive approach designed to achieve optimum levels of health, social and emotional functioning. Wellness can also be defined as an active process through which you become aware of and make choices toward a more successful existence. A wellness-oriented lifestyle encourages you to adopt habits and behaviors that promote better health and an improved quality of life. It also involves the recognition that you have physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs, with each dimension being necessary for optimal levels of functioning. Wellness is a positive approach to living - an approach that emphasizes the whole person. It is the integration of the body, mind, and spirit; and the appreciation that everything you do, think, feel, and believe has an impact on your state of health. The Body

T

he purpose of lymph drainage is to cleanse and regenerate the tissues and organs of the body. Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is very gentle patterned therapeutic massage used to increase lymph fluid movement. By increasing the lymph flow the body is able to eliminate excess fluid and improve the overall function of the cellular system. When the lymph system and lymph nodes are damaged through disease or surgery it is sometimes possible to re pattern the the lymph flow to active nodes and restore balance to the system.

Examining

Lymphatic Drainage?

What is the Lymphatic System? The lymphatic system is a complex network of vessels, nodes and ducts to move tissue waste, fluid, and hormones throughout the body. It is responsible for moving toxins and viruses away from healt hy cells and carrying germ-fighting materials to cells. Lymph fluid moves up the body through the lymphatic system and it does not have its own pumping mechanism. The lymphatic system relies on the action of external forces to create a lymphatic pump to move the fluid up the body. Lymphatic drainage is intended to help the body produce a free-flowing lymphatic system. What Does the Lymphatic System Do? The lymphatic system aids the immune system in destroying pathogens and filtering waste so that the lymph can be safely returned to the circulatory system. It removes excess fluid, waste, debris, dead blood cells, pathogens, cancer cells, and toxins from these cells and the tissue spaces between them. The lymphatic system also works with the circulatory system to deliver nutrients, oxygen, and hormones from the blood to the cells. Lymph is collected from the interstitial spaces into the lymph capillaries. It then travels through the lymphatic and lymph nodes, into the right or left lymphatic duct and finally back into the blood stream. How is Lymphatic Drainage Done? The therapist uses light, rhythmical, spiral-like movements to accelerate the movement of lymphatic fluids in the body. Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses mild strokes toward the heart. Lymphatic Drainage massage uses no massage oils or lotions. This technique will open the one way valves and lightly stretch the walls of the lymph vessels to create a pumping action and promote lymph drainage. Lymphatic drainage boosts the immune system as well as helps the body ward off illness. the treatment can facilitate general feelings of health and vitality. It can also have a positive physical effect, improving the appearance of the skin and reducing puffiness. 18 SEPTEMBER 2010 • Tampa Bay Wellness

ne of the greatest tragedies of our health care system is that hundreds of thousands of people will die this year from often preventable diseases such as stroke, heart attack, and cancer. Diet and exercise are no longer the soul means of hoping to prevent disease. We live in a time of rapidly emerging medical advances that offer us the

20 SEPTEMBER 2010 • Tampa Bay Wellness

opportunity to virtually look inside the human body to see what may be brewing. We could prevent many crippling and fatal diseases if our healthcare system would catch up to technology. Many life-saving preventative screenings are not paid for by insurance and most diseases won’t be treated until they have progressed far enough to

show symptoms. Even more unfortunate is that many of these “predators” show no outward signs, attacking unexpectedly, death being the first and only symptom for many people living with an otherwise silent killer. Medical experts agree that most heart attacks, strokes, and vascular diseases can be treated with amazing success and even prevented entirely when detected early. Experts also agree that early cancer detection offers patients a much higher survival rate requiring less aggressive types of treatment. Some wellness centers and doctors’ offices are expanding their services to offer vital preventative screenings using Diagnostic Medical Sonography (also called ultrasound); the same highly reliable equipment used in major hospitals. Ultrasound is the imaging modality of choice because it is painless, non-invasive, extremely reliable, affordable, and emits absolutely no ionizing radiation, making it 100% safe with no harmful side-effects. Ultrasound is a highly sophisticated imaging technique based on a very simple idea of using rebounding sound waves to look inside the body and create detailed images of major organs and blood vessels. Ultrasound has become so advanced that it can easily be used to tell the difference between a benign fluid-filled cyst and a possibly cancerous tumor, or the degree of plaque in the arteries. It can even detect aneurisms before they erupt. Centers that offer preventative screenings do not require a referral or prescription and try to make them affordable. Be wary though, not all screening facilities are created equally. Plenty of “fly-bynight” and gypsy-type businesses exist. They may be cheaper but so may be the quality of your screening and individual attention. Some even boast how “fast” their screenings are – this is not an advantage. The equipment used for your screening is also very important! Old and outdated as well as “mobile” equipment does not yield as clear or precise results, leading to false alarm or missing important detail that render the whole idea of preventive screening useless. Be sure to choose a professional, caring facility that will take their time to give you a thorough evaluation. Ultrasound can be nearly 100% accurate, but only when performed by skilled sonographer using quality equipment and read by a board certified radiologist.

www.tampabaywellness.com

Types of preventative screenings available include the following areas of possible disease: Stroke, Heart Attack, and Aneurysm The vascular screening creates images of the arteries in the neck, abdomen, and legs to detect early signs of peripheral artery disease and assess the degree of plaque accumulation. Color Doppler blood flow analysis is also used to assess the velocity of blood flow within the arteries and identify atherosclerosis, hypertension, narrowing, blockages, and aneurysm.

Cancer This series of exams evaluates major internal organs, female and male organs, and thyroid glands for masses, cysts, or growths that could be cancerous. Any visual abnormalities, infection, swelling, fluid collections, calcification (gallstones & kidney stones), enlargement or degeneration such as liver disease, are also documented.

Breast Disease and Women’s Wellness As an adjunct for Breast Cancer Screening, breast Sonography is especially useful for women with fibrocystic breasts, dense breasts, and implants since there is no compression and can “see” through dense breast tissue with no ionizing radiation to the breast tissue. When coupled with another imaging technique such as Medical Thermal Imaging (Thermography) patients have nearly 100% accuracy.

Prostate Disease, Testicular Cancer, and Men’s Wellness This screening includes imaging the testicles and prostate for detection of cancer or other diseases. Ultrasound can also be used as a tool in determining the cause of erectile dysfunction and to assist with a treatment plan. You no longer have to wait until a disease process has progressed so far that we begin to experience symptoms and our health becomes compromised. Since ultrasound screenings usually start at around $50 and don’t require a doctor referral, you have the power to be in control of your own body, your health, and your future. I recommend that every person take a couple hours out of their year to have a preventative screening – you can’t afford not to.

Yoga Poses

Ardha Matsyasana Half Lord of the Fishes Pose

Sit on the floor with your legs straight out in front of you. Bend your knees, put your feet on the floor, slide your left foot under your right leg to the outside of your right hip as you lay the folded left leg on the floor. Step the right foot over the left leg and place it down on the floor outside your left hip. Exhale and twist toward the inside of the right thigh. Press the right hand against the floor just behind your right buttock, and wrap your left upper arm around the outside of your right thigh near the knee. Pull your front torso and inner right thigh snugly together. Lean the upper torso back slightly, bring the shoulder blades together, exhale and continue to lengthen the tailbone into the floor. Stay for 30 seconds to 1 minute or longer, then release with an exhalation. BENEFITS: Stimulates the liver and kidneys; stretches the shoulders, hips, and neck. This pose energizes

the spine and stimulates digestion. It relieves menstrual discomfort, fatigue, sciatica, and backache. This pose is good for infertility and is said to awaken Kundalini energy. Kundalini is considered to be an interaction of energy centers that allow for the awakened flow of conscious awareness. Gwen Hanner Jai Dee Yoga www.jaideeyoga.com

Urdhva Dhanurasana Upward-facing Bow Pose / Wheel / Back-bend Lie on your back with knees bent and feet placed on the floor a few inches from the buttocks. Bend your elbows and place your palms on the floor beside your ears, fingers pointing toward your shoulders. On the exhale, lift the torso and place the crown of the head on the earth for support. Inhale, and then exhale as you press into your hands and feet and lift your torso and head. Straighten your arms, pull up your thighs, and arch your back. Lift the sternum, press through the legs, and create a long arc of energy from the toes to the fingers. Keep the eyes, jaw, and forehead soft and relaxed. As you create space in the front and back of the body, appreciate the open field of compassion in the heart center, the Anahata Chakra.

This posture strengthens the back and opens the shoulder joints. It also provides a strong massage for the kidneys and adrenal glands. Val Spies, E-RYT500 The Louts Room/Lotus Pond Studios www.yogalotusroom.com

Let's look at the value of digestive enzymes to the body, and their relationship with an organic, raw lifestyle, digestion, and your daily energy level. Digestive enzymes are the tools that the body uses to turn food into nourishment. When you consume a meal of cooked food the body examines the contents of the stomach, then the pancreas goes to work producing the proper enzymes to digest that food. This process is called "tagging" the enzymes, and is an approximation process. In other words, the pancreas can't always correctly tag enzymes for the foods you've eaten, and takes it's best guess. A common example of this is to see undigested corn in your stool - it's hard for the body to properly tag enzymes to digest cooked corn, thus, it passes though the body without being utilized. When we eat raw fruits, grains, nuts and vegetables, however, the properly-tagged digestive enzymes already exist in those foods. Raw apples have apple-tagged enzymes, raw coconut has coconut-tagged enzymes, and corn has the properly-tagged enzyme for the body to digest it, and thus get the most from the nutrition it contains. So when we consume our foods raw our bodies get maximum benefit because of proper digestion. That alone is reason enough to eat lots of raw foods. But it gets better... That desire you feel for a nap after a big meal is caused by the blood going to the pancreas to produce the needed digestive enzymes. When you've already got the enzymes in there, as part of the food you just ate, the pancreas gets "time off." That's why raw fooders seem to have so much more energy. Eating a 100% raw vegan diet saves the body eigt hours of work a day - that's a lot of energy saved. But it gets even better... Over time, the pancreas loses the ability to produce digestive enzymes. That's why we begin to have digestion problems as we get older. Taking that load off the pancreas thus improves our digestion. So, for older people, when we eat more raw food we have fewer stomach and intestinal problems. And, yes, there's something even better... As we discussed last time, the body never takes time off. When we remove one responsibility from it, like working eight hours a day to digest food, it finds something else to do. In this case, it can now devote itself to cell rejuvenation and healing with the conserved energy. This is the reason raw fooders, even when they begin later in life, start to not only feel younger, but to look younger. I've even seen white hair revert to it's darker color over time - something I thought was irreversible. I know that I certainly feel better, have more energy, and am more mentally alert than I was 20 years ago. "OK, Dr. Jim, I'm sold on the raw vegan lifestyle." Ah, but you only think you're sold. Right now you're motivated, so grab some organic fruit for your next snack, not something that comes in a plastic package. Yours in Great Natural Health, Jim Carey

The Practice of Discipline
 By: Brian Tracy

D

iscipline yourself to do what you know you need to do to be the very best in your field. Perhaps the best definition of self discipline is this: "Self discipline is the ability to make yourself do what you should do when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not."

It is easy to do something when you feel like it. It's when you don't feel like it and you force yourself to do it anyway that you move your life and career onto the fast track.

What decisions do you need to make today in order to start moving toward the top of your field? Whatever it is, either to get in or get out, make a decision today and then get started. This single act alone can change the whole direction of your life.

 Seven Steps to Success
There is a powerful seven step formula that you can use to set and achieve your goals for the rest of your life. Every single successful person uses this formula or some variation of this formula to achieve vastly more than the average person. And so can you. Here it is:

Step number one, Decide What You Want
- Decide exactly what it is you want in each part of your life. Become a "meaningful specific" rather than a "wandering generality." Second, Write it Down -
Write it down, clearly and in detail. Always think on paper. A goal that is not in writing is not a goal at all. It is merely a wish and it has no energy behind it.

Third, Set A Deadline -
Set a deadline for your goal. A deadline acts as a "forcing system" in your subconscious mind. It motivates you to do the things necessary to make your goal come true. If it is a big enough goal, set sub-deadlines as well. Don't leave this to chance.

 Fourth, Make A List
- Make a list of everything that you can think of that you are going to have to do to achieve your goal. When you think of new tasks and activities, write them on your list until your list is complete.

 Fifth, Organize Your List -
Organize your list into a plan. Decide what you will have to do first and what you will have to do second. Decide what is more important and what is less important. And then write out your plan on paper, the same way you would develop a blueprint to build your dream house.

 Sixth, Take Action -
The sixth step is for you to take action on your plan. Do something. Do anything. But get busy. Get going.

Do something every single day that moves you in the direction of your most important goal at the moment. Develop the discipline of doing something 365 days each year that is moving you forward. You will be absolutely astonished at how much you accomplish when you utilize this formula in your life every single day.

 Seventh, Action Exercises
- Here are two things you can do to put these ideas into action immediately.

First, decide exactly what you want, write it down with a deadline, make a plan and take action - on at least one goal - today!

Second, determine the price you will have to pay to achieve this goal and then get busy paying that price - whatever it is. Speleotherapy An ancient method of natural healing comes to Tampa.

T

housands of years have passed since the first miners found their respiratory ailments healing after spending time in salt mines. Roman and medieval miners most likely did not understand why they were healing. It was not until 1843 in the small Polish town of Wieliczka that a physician named Dr. Feliks Boczkowski began recording the healing effects of salt mines, specifically, the healing effects of what is now called Speleotherapy. Speleotherapy is a natural therapy where an individual commits to a microclimactic environment for a period of time where the air has a certain saturation

level of salt, or more specifically sodium chloride. The temperature and humidity of the environment are static and/or controlled. The microscopic particles of sodium chloride in the air penetrate deep into the lungs and sinuses, drawing excess fluid out, killing bacteria and improving overall lung function. Speleotherapy is best known in Eastern Europe, where salt caves are plentiful and their benefits have been well established, but it has now been introduced to the U.S.A. right here in Tampa Bay. Breathing Clear, Inc. has imported tons of Ukranian salt blocks and created Speleotherapy rooms in upscale South

Tampa. The company has created microenvironments that surpass the conditions found in the original salt mines. The temperature and humidity are tightly controlled. The purity of the air is unsurpassed through the use of Hepa filtration. And the lighting and comfort seating all contribute to a healthy, meditative experience. “We are excited to bring the first salt rooms offering Speleotherapy exclusively in the United States to Tampa,” said Amir Glogau, president of Breathing Clear. “Thousands of people who have been looking for natural, drug free relief from symptoms that cause breathing difficulties can enjoy the benefits of an authentic speleochamber experience minutes from home.” Breathing Clear’s Ukranian salt blocks contain the highest concentration of sodium chloride in the world. These salt particles also convert positive ions into negative ions, which help strengthen the body’s immune system. Conditions that may benefit from Speleotherapy • • • • • • • • •

Asthma Allergies Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) Seasonal allergies Bronchitis Sinusitis Rhinitis Chronic ear infections Cystic fibrosis

Over the course of many years Speleotherapy has shown itself to be a true natural healer. Now the U.S.A. has the opportunity to share in its benefits. Breathing Clear is offering introductory specials to Tampa Bay residents. Please consult your doctor before beginning any new therapy.
