The Ozone then penetrates the blood, lymph and fat. By allowing Ozone in, and toxins out, via the sweating process that is induced, Transdermal Ozone Therapy is one of the most powerful methods of detoxifying and oxygenating the body in existence. This accounts for the effect that heat stress has in killing cancer. Both heat stress and Ozone kill cancer so this treatment offers the best

for only $25 a treatment. The benefits of Ozone Transdermal Therapy is miraculous. Transdermal Ozone, also known as Hyperthermic Ozone and Transcutaneous Ozone Therapy, is a method in which Ozone is introduced into the body via the skin while sitting in a hot steam cabinet. As the pores of the skin open as a result of being surrounded by the warm steam, Ozone enters the body transdermally (i.e. via the skin).

could this happen to me? I eat 90% organic. I consume no sugar. I have an active life style. I am doing everything right. Of course, 50 years of smoking cigars might have a great deal to do with it. Yes, I quit 15 years ago, but the damage had already been done. The slow build up of symptoms didn’t alert me to my situation until I had achieved a stage four squamous cell carcinoma at the base of my tongue. The tumor was so aggressive it grew out of the side of my throat.

zone therapy is becoming widely recognized as one of the most effective treatments for many conditions, ranging from infection to poor circulation to gastrointestinal disorders. Unique to Tampa Bay, LifeWorks Wellness Center offers several different forms of ozone therapy, and is experiencing considerable success using it to treat patients with chronic illness. LifeWorks’ co-founder and Medical Director, Dr. David Minkoff explains, “In medical use, ozone is made by passing pure oxygen through an electric coil which gives it three atoms, instead of two, making it O3. It is the addition of the third oxygen atom that makes ozone “supercharged” oxygen, and gives it all of its remarkable medical properties.” For the month of March, LifeWorks is offering new patients an exclusive discount of $50 off a consultation with Dr. Minkoff, to be cleared to begin ozone therapy.

THE TRUE

SPIRIT

OF MARTIAL ARTS

O

ne man lay flat on his back with his eyes staring blankly. Kneeling around him were other men with very worried faces. Not far away was another man doing some sort of silly victory dance. His elation changed to frightened concern when he realized the man on his back might be dying. I was watching the news. This was the end of an MMA (mixed martial arts) fight. Thankfully, the man did not die. The extent of his injuries was left in question. As I reflected sadly on the images I had just seen, I despaired at what has become 12 may 2013 • Tampa Bay Wellness

of Martial Arts in recent years. I vaguely heard the news anchor mention the need for regulation of what he called a “vicious sport”. For some reason the “vicious sport” comment brought to mind images of feudal Japan. I imagined fathers and sons fighting for their lives and the welfare of their families. I chuckled ruefully at the thought of a man in such circumstances engaging is some comical victory gyrations. Not likely. Victory would mean survival, and even that would bring emotional scars and grief. Further, I imagine surviving such an

experience would leave you praying you would never have to repeat it. I have good reason for that image. This is the story I hear from my military friends who have survived vicious and bloody combat in which beloved friends have been maimed or killed. Though some of them went in with an immature belief that life and death warfare might resemble an adrenaline pumping real life version of a video game, most of them came out very changed. I consider myself very lucky to have discovered the true spirit of martial arts at a very young age. When I was eight www.tampabaywellness.com

coverstory years old the world of martial arts was pretty obscure. My teachers always made it clear that the true spirit of martial arts transcends the mere physical and is primarily a quest for mastery of one’s self as opposed to an obsession with brutal domination over others. Though it is true that in good martial arts training one learns to master their own body while developing skills that could damage another, training of the mind and a molding of the spirit are at the core of this classically transformational endeavor. Sadly, it would seem that the currently popular image of the martial arts is one of “ground and pound” vicious brutality. I recently heard a veteran practitioner describe the phenomenon as a “decline to 10 percent technique and 90 percent brawl.” The incomplete approach to what has recently become popularized as martial arts was apparent to me in a recent conversation with an acquaintance who is studying in a ring and cage-fighting program. When I explained to him that our program, in addition to training students to be effectively aggressive, provides options for being sneaky, evasive, and deceptively defensive, he was a bit confused. His reply, “wow, we are just taught to dominate, dominate, dominate.” These expanded strategies did not resonate with his bigger, stronger, faster approach. When I asked him why he chose to study with his current group he said, “Well, that’s what I thought martial arts was. I had no idea what you’re describing even existed, let alone that I could actually study it.” I am happy to report that this man is now an active student. Clearly bigger, stronger, faster is just not an option for a lot of people. It is just not a practical approach to self-defense, or to life in general. Believing you can just beat everything that gets in your way into submission will most certainly end in disaster. Most of us are familiar with the adage, “To a man with only a hammer everything looks like a nail.” In the work place, and in other social situations, we have all at one time or another had to suffer at the hands of someone who believed that bullying and crude overpowering were the way to achieve their goal. The Shadow Warriors or Ninja were www.tampabaywellness.com

no strangers to this brand of abuse. The legendary Ninja of Japan developed a unique approach to self-protection out of the sheer pressure to survive and protect their families and communities. Historically, in their formative years, the Ninja were hunted down and persecuted. Those who sought to wipe them out were far better equipped than they were. These oppressors had more wealth, greater resources, government support, and the best armor and weaponry money could buy. In other words, one could say they

were bigger, stronger and faster. They were superior in nearly every respect. The odds were not even. It was anything but a fair fight. In order to survive deadly attacks in which their assailants had the upper hand, the Ninja had to learn to be sneaky, creative, and unconventional; they had to devise ways of using everything an attacker considered to be their strengths against them. The system they devised over hundreds of years stands firmly on the foundation of the four natural elements: earth, water, fire and wind. Moreover, these four strategies apply to all facets of managing life and to selfprotection on all levels: physical, verbal, mental, and emotional. Very briefly, the four strategies are as follows: Earth – stabilize, take control, hold your ground and inflict structural damage if necessary. Water – strategically defensive, avoid immediate danger and craft a counter attack or escape. Fire – strategically aggressive, preempt an attack or wholly consume the danger like fire. Wind – be circular and evasive, become like a ghost, or be devastating like a hurricane or tornado. This elemental model takes into account the natural inclination for each of us to identify more strongly with certain of the elements, and less so

with others. Even with a basic level of understanding most students can easily identify themselves, (and others,) as, for example, a “windy person” or an “earthy person.” Training is then designed to maximize an individual’s natural strengths and minimize their inherent weaknesses. No profile or element is considered to be the best or superior. It is what it is, as they say. However, there are appropriate and inappropriate times to apply these energies. Being aggressive when you should step back, or being grounded and stubborn when you should yield or compromise can result in disaster. The goal is to develop the skill and flexibility to be appropriate in the current situation. The student can eventually master all four, increasing the ability to choose and grow ever more effective in managing challenges of any kind. Resourcefulness has always been a trademark of the Ninja as well. Learning to make effective use of one’s environment in threatening circumstances is also an intelligent component to real selfprotection skills and strategies. In the spirit of tradition and practicality programs at Quest Martial Arts include training in improvised weapons of opportunity. Some examples include pens and pencils, keys, credit cards, cell phones and purses, to name a few. A sport approach to martial arts has no need of 14 may 2013 • Tampa Bay Wellness

these considerations. Without a doubt t he world of cage a nd ring fighting contests is teaming with dedicated and impressive athletes. The endurance and unbridled enthusiasm of youth are re p e ate d ly on d i spl ay. For those who enjoy the spectacle of two humans daring each other to do the most damage to one another, the longer and more d e v a s t at i n g t he spectacle the better. This is the nature of sport fighting. If such a fight were over in .03 seconds the fans, and most certainly the promoters, would be very disappointed. That kind of efficiency would not play well as entertainment. On the other hand, if you found yourself facing a serious threat to yourself or a loved one, ending things in .03 seconds can determine the difference between success and devastation. This is why there are rules and weight classes in sport fighting. The streets offer no such luxuries. Self-defense is not, nor does it resemble, a cage fight. Training for a

contest requires you to be an athlete and involves a radically different approach from self-defense training. Because there are no rules or weight classes when someone is trying to rob, rape, or kill you, you must train to be smarter not tougher. This principle is what the authentic Ninja Martial Arts we teach at Quest Martial Arts is based upon. You need not be an athlete to be skilled. Though, in the spirit of self-protection and good health each class includes biomechanical realignment and functional strength training using your own body weight, and students are free to progress at their own rate. In a case of self-defense it is most likely you will not be bigger, stronger and faster than your attacker. We train our students to be smarter: to be clever, trickier and more scientific, with maximum effectiveness if need be. The Ninja have always been known for these legendary skills. At Quest Martial Arts the true spirit of Martial Arts defines the very fabric of our culture. A clear sense of fellowship, encouragement and support, healthy and sensible practice, acknowledging personal challenges and pushing past them, mind science training, meditation and reflection; these are all part of our approach to making a better person and

www.tampabaywellness.com

coverstory building a better life. In my own life, it is this spirit that guided me toward my many accomplishments, including two Masters degrees (Business Administration and Transpersonal Counseling) and current pursuit of a PhD. I am blessed to be in a position to introduce others to this path and encourage them as they learn to take control of and craft their own life’s journey. The modernized version of t he authentic Ninja martial arts we offer at Quest Martial Arts is often referred to as “the thinking persons martial art.” The intelligent approach based on physics, human physiolog y and psycholog y creates a system that results in the practitioner getting better as they get

older. Training to fine tune skills based on subtleties of timing, distancing, balance control and body positioning continues naturally and easily as one ages. On the other hand, I have yet to meet an adult that tells me they are getting younger, stronger and faster. In any case, regardless of the method one chooses, the true spirit of Martial Arts implores us to take on the ultimate challenge of mastering ourselves lest we end up www.tampabaywellness.com

left with not much for our efforts but a withering sense of our ever fading glory days…and, as Bruce Springsteen so poetically pointed out, a lot of boring stories. From a physical perspective the true spirit of Martial Arts has never been about gratuitous violence. Many of my colleagues around the globe share my despondence over the current interpretation of what Martial Arts is and has to offer to so many. In this veteran Martial Arts Master’s opinion the last thing our world needs now is to glorify and celebrate gratuitous violence. The true spirit of Martial Arts has always taught that violence is the mode of last resort. Whenever there is violent threat to life and limb, in the end no one really wins. I keep above my desk a beautiful painting of a Japanese warrior kneeling in earnest prayer as he prepares for battle. It is a compelling reminder that we must remember that we train to choose peace from a position of power; and, that mastery of the self is the most noble, rewarding, and productive battle to wage. EASY-TO-DIGEST FOODS for UPSET TUMMIES:

D

o you have a “touchy” digestive system? Many people struggle with digestive problems. This could include anything from an occasional mild stomach upset, stomach flu, or food poisoning, to morning sickness, frequent attacks of gall bladder, gastritis, colitis or irritable bowel. Or even the side-effects of chemotherapy treatment. Chronically uncomfortable digestion, such as nausea, heartburn, reflux, cramping, bloating, gas, constipation or diarrhea can be more than just uncomfortable; poor digestion is associated with other health complications, including malnutrition, dysbiosis, unhealthy weight gain or loss, weakness, and headaches. Acupuncture to strengthen the digestive function is very helpful for these conditions, as are Chinese herbs tailored for the specific condition. And, for individualized dietary recommendations, it is best to see an acupuncturist trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) nutrition. In the meantime, however, this article will outline a few dietary suggestions that will help most people feel better. We will start with the most easily digested foods first, and progress to the more difficult. Remember, these are generalizations. Everyone is a little different, so you may find that a few of the foods in some of the earlier categories need to be set aside until you are feeling stronger, or that you are okay with eating some of the latter category foods sooner. And always heed any food allergies that you have. STEP 1: CLEAR FLUIDS Nausea and/or diarrhea can make you not want to eat at all, but it is essential to remain hydrated with plenty of clear fluids. Warm or room temperature liquids are preferable since cold fluids can cause or worsen cramping. One of the best clear fluids is coconut water: the liquid from the inside of the coconut, (not to be confused with coconut milk, which is a thick, white liquid made from the coconut meat). All natural coconut water is typically tolerated better than plain water and has an

16 may 2013 • Tampa Bay Wellness

ideal ratio of electrolytes, minerals with a small amount of natural sugars to keep you optimally hydrated and lightly fueled. Other good fluids to sip include clear broths and warm teas: for nausea choose ginger, peppermint or chamomile; for cramping pain choose chamomile, peppermint, or fennel. STEP 2: CONGEE and MASHED & STEWED FRUITS Congee: Congee is the foremost of the easy-todigest foods in Oriental medicine, used for all types of imbalanced digestion. It is a great food to start with after you’ve been unable to eat. In addition to being easy on the system, it is said to “nourish the Digestive Qi (energy).” Congee is a thin porridge that is often used as breakfast in parts of China. There are many recipes available online, but I will give you the basic formula here: I recommend using brown rice, millet, quinoa or buckwheat, as these are gluten-free, and usually easy-to-digest. Use 1 part whole grain to 5 parts water. Cook on low for several hours. I usually cook this in a crock pot overnight on the “low” setting. Small amounts of various fruits, vegetables, or spices may be added, depending on your individual TCM diagnosis. Examples include ginger, cardamom, raisins, chopped carrots and apples, which add a touch of flavor and texture to the congee, but are well-cooked for easy digestion. Or your acupuncturist may prefer that you use vegetables such as zucchini, celery, water chestnuts. Either way, go easy on the added ingredients, because the blandness of the congee is what makes it gentle on the digestion and nourishing for the Digestive Qi. You can also put cooked congee through a blender to feed to infants and toddlers with “tummy problems”. Again, ask your acupuncturist for specific herbs, spices, fruits or veggies to add to your child’s congee for his or her condition. Mashed & Stewed Fruits:

Another good option at this stage is a little bit of mashed banana, blended papaya, or a pudding made from the two together. Both are very easy to digest. Banana is better if you are having diarrhea. Papaya, since it contains some natural digestive enzymes, can be helpful for constipation. Applesauce (preferably unsweetened) is another great option. You can add a pinch or two of dried ginger to any of these fruits, to further assist their ease of digestion. You can also try some stewed fruits, such as pears, prunes and figs, particularly if you have constipation. STEP 3: OTHER WHOLE-FOOD STARCHES & FRESH FRUITS When your system can handle more solid foods, try some plain baked potato or sweet potato (remove the skin initially if you need to), winter squash (such as butternut squash, acorn squash or pumpkin), cooked summer squash (zucchini or yellow squash), and cooked root vegetables (such as carrots, beets, daikon radish). You can also have plain whole grains such as rice, quinoa, millet and buckwheat. If you are not gluten sensitive, you can add oatmeal (the old-fashioned kind, not the instant), or whole grain toast. In fact, all cooked starches should be well tolerated at this point, except for dry beans. Avoid butter, oil or sauces for now, and no spicy foods. Once you can easily digest the plain, cooked starches, you should also be able to digest most fresh fruits, though citrus and tomato may still be a challenge. Eat your fresh fruit at room temperature, instead of chilled, for better digestion. STEP 4: COOKED VEGETABLES & GREEN SMOOTHIES: Cooked Vegetables: As your digestive system continues to strengthen, you can eat a variety of cooked vegetables, but initially avoid the cruciferous ones (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts). Avoid using too much oil or butter to cook www.tampabaywellness.com

your vegetables. Steaming or roasting them is better than frying. You can also sauté them in broth. Go very easy on the flavorings, spices or sauces, at least at first, until you feel your digestion can handle them. For protein, you may eat a small amount of plain, cooked whole beans (not refried beans) with your cooked vegetables. If you eat meat, this is where you can start to add small amounts of organic roasted chicken or wildcaught, small species fish. Be sure to cook both of them very well, to kill parasites and bacteria. Use animal protein more as a meal accent, and not as a large part of the meal. Green Smoothies: You can also start adding some raw, green, leafy vegetables to fruit smoothies. This way, you receive the benefit of the green leafy vegetable, but it is blended for easier digestion. Green smoothies are a wonderful way to intake green leafies, while only tasting fruit. Start with spinach or leaf lettuce, since they have very little of their own taste. There are many green smoothie recipes available online, but you can take this simple recipe and improvise: Add 1 cup of spinach to 1 banana, 1.5 cups of berries, and 1 cup of water or coconut water and a few pinches of dried ginger or cardamom. Blend until smooth and enjoy. Avoid adding ice, dairy or sweeteners. STEP 5: RAW VEGETABLES, FATS & PROTEINS: Raw Vegetables: At this stage, you can to add in raw vegetables and salads. Of the raw vegetables, those which are fruits (tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers, zucchini and yellow squash) are the easiest to digest, while the cruciferous (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc) are the most difficult, and you may need to only eat

them cooked. Iceburg lettuce is difficult to digest, and has the least nutrients of all leafy greens, so use romaine, leaf lettuce or spinach for salads. You might find that the darker leafy greens, such as kale, swiss chard, or collards need to be cooked for you to digest them well. Fats & Proteins: Of the fats and proteins, avocado is the easiest to handle, and a few olives are fine for most people. Both coconut and peanuts can be a problem for those with gall bladder congestion. Other nuts and seeds in small quantities are fine for some, but those with diverticulitis will likely need to avoid them. If you eat animal-based foods, organic chicken and wild-caught, small species fish, as well as organic egg whites may be eaten in small amounts. Vegetable oils, butter/margarine, fatty meats, and dairy products should be eaten sparingly if at all. These foods are very heavy and put a lot of burden on the Digestive Qi. FOODS TO AVOID Besides those fats and proteins listed above, other foods to avoid with poor digestion are wheat (including white flour and whole wheat), sugars, artificial sweeteners, greasy foods, highly processed foods, and chemical additives. Some people with reflux or heartburn may also need to avoid spicy foods. The most highly allergenic foods are dairy, corn, wheat/gluten, peanut, and soy. FOOD COMBINING Some people find that proper food combining makes all the difference for their digestion. Food combining is based on the chemistry of digestion: starchy foods require alkalinity to digest, whereas proteins and fats require acidity. And fruits are best eaten

without any other type of food because they digest much faster. The premise is that when you combine foods which require opposite types of digestive environments, then the chemical reactions neutralize each other, causing digestive stagnation, fermentation & putrefaction. This can lead to digestive distress, poor nutrient absorption, overgrowth of bacteria/ yeast, lowered immunity, fatigue, pain and other illness. There are many sources for learning about food combining, but to make it simple: Don’t eat starches with fats or proteins; Nonstarchy vegetables can be eaten with EITHER starches OR proteins/fats, but not both; Eat fruit alone; Allow 40 minutes after eating fruit, 3 hours after eating a starchy meal, and 4 hours after eating a protein/fat meal before eating a different type of meal. IN CONCLUSION: When your Digestive Qi is strong, your digestion is smooth and effortless, you have vibrant energy, and your whole body functions better. Try these suggestions. But, if you find your digestive problems are persisting, I encourage you to seek an acupuncturist trained in nutrition to help with your individual condition.

Gather your food and HUNT down your workouts!

L

adies and gentleman, boys and girls - we love your questions, and we get them all day long. “What do you eat, when do you eat, what amounts do you eat, what do you eat prior to training, during training, after training……”. “What do you train on certain days, how do you do this, that, or the other, how do you build abs, how do you build legs, what about your butt, how do you get that……..” You get the idea. Over time, we will be providing you with intelligent information to assist you with all of your questions. In this article, we offer very simple, highly effective starting points. Enjoy!

Lift Two: Single Arm Dumbbell Shoulder Press

Hunt and Gather your Food. Sort-of.

Traditional Hunter-gatherer societies obtained most, or all food from wild plants and animals, collecting eggs, nuts, fruits, and seafood. Of course nowadays we cannot obtain exactly the same food our ancestors did (and, thankfully for most of us, we don’t have to hunt it either). Yet, we can follow a few guidelines to get as close as possible:

Lift One: Dumbbell Front Squat.

1. If you eat a lot of processed food (crackers, gluten-free snacks and cookies, cereals, microwave dinners, pastries, muffins, chips, etc), stop. Your health, and waist-line won’t improve until you eliminate these types of foods.

Lift Two: Single Arm Dumbbell Shoulder Press

cup of coffee and go. During the workout, sipping on an amino acid blend will be highly beneficial.

2. For your proteins, choose sources like eggs, fish, meats (grass-fed when possible), vegetable and whey based protein powders.

2. If you are fairly lean and muscular, you can ‘afford’ a higher carb intake in this meal. Think proteins, a bit of fat, and perhaps a sweet potato on the side. We like to keep the carbs gluten free.

3. For your fats, stick to fish oil, olive oil, coconut oil, ghee, grass-fed butter, and occasionally, nuts and seeds. Include raw cheese, and fermented foods in your diet. 4. Vegetable and fruit carbohydrates are best. In the cross-fit world, the saying “lots of veggies, little fruit, minimal starch and no sugar’ prevails. Stick to this. Tinker with your “Intra-Workout” Nutrition. By this, we mean “play around with what you eat/ drink before, during, and after your workout, to suit your body and your goals”. Of course you hear a ton of general statements, such as “Carb up before all workouts”, or, “if you eat fat, you’ll just get fat!” There are many ridiculous and oftentimes 20 may 2013 • Tampa Bay Wellness

During Training: Lift Three: Band Pull Up.

Using a band

makes the pull up doable for any beginner!

harmful statements out there, so here are some safe and effective guiding principles:

Pre-training: 1. If you have a significant amount of fat to lose, your pre-training meal should be higher in protein and healthy fats, with veggies in the mix. If you are going to be working out really early in the morning, you may benefit from a fasted session. Just grab a

Both camps (lean, muscular, and “with fat to lose”) can benefit from supplement combinations including Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs), Creatine, and Glutamine. At the very least, a BCAA formulation should be used (we use Beverly International Glutamine Select as one). BCAAs are commonly used to improve exercise recovery, increase protein synthesis and muscle hypertrophy, and to increase energy levels. Creatine has been shown in numerous studies to increase exercise capacity and exercise performance. Interestingly, creatine may also reduce the rate of muscle wast-

www.tampabaywellness.com

ing from musculoskeletal injuries, while improving strength in patients with brain and/or spinal cord injuries.

After Training: 1. For our “with fat to lose camp” - as soon as you put down your last weight, sip on a high quality protein shake, with a mix of either Greens Powder, or actual vegetables blended in. Believe it or not, a shake blended ahead of time with spinach and carrots in the mix isn’t as vile as it sounds. The motto for this crowd is “include some protein in each meal, and make sure vegetables are your dominant carb source”. This includes the postworkout shake. 2. For our lean mean machines - you can afford a higher hit of carbs AND protein as soon as your last set is complete. Consider a mix including protein powder, and a carbohydrate blend. A good resource to customize these specialty mixes is www.truenutrition.com. Research has consistently shown that a post-workout blend of carbs and protein limits post-exercise muscle damage, while promoting protein accretion (the growth of new proteins, which is very important for building lean muscle tissue). HUNT your workouts. Choose your strength movements wisely, then train like you mean it, every time! Most of you have probably heard that ‘whole

www.tampabaywellness.com

body weight training’, i.e., movements such as the squat, lunge, press and pull, are highly beneficial for fat loss. This is correct. You will get much more ‘bang for your buck’ metabolically when you perform workouts dominated by these movements. Additionally, these lifts are very useful for building strong bones - critical to all stages of life. Many people worry that the squat is ‘bad for the lower back’ - well, performed poorly, most lifts are bad for the lower back! Sitting all day is bad for the back! Squatting is necessary for life. Next time someone tells you to avoid the squat, ask him or her how they plan on getting on and off the toilet without the ability to squat. Bottom line - learn to squat correctly, and train it consistently. You can structure your workouts around these lifts, then, towards the end, incorporate some of your favorite moves (bicep curls, abdominal training, etc). We’ve included pictures of the dumbbell front squat, single arm dumbbell shoulder press, and band pull up. Now, you can begin incorporating them into your weight routine. Please work with a certified strength and conditioning coach (CSCS), a personal trainer, and/or a cross fit level one coach to learn these lifts. They are very safe, but it’s always nice to have formal instruction. Once inside your gym, warm-up appropriately both physically and mentally. You are there to

train, and accomplish your goals. Focus! As Anthony Robbins says, “The path to success is to take massive, determined action.” Turn this mindset on at the beginning of each and every workout. References:

Aloe Vera’s Magic “Drink it all,” he says. “Seriously—I can’t,” I moan. “No you must,” he says as if my life depended on it.

A

loe Vera the calming gelatinous plant is so threatening on the outside with her spiny-toothed leaves, though inside she’s so soothing and cool. Her leaves form a rosette and despite her spiky overcoat, she is quite long-legged and majestic. She reminds me of the Hindu Goddess Kali-Ma with her many arms—she has a rough exterior and can weed out troubles of your world in a fatal sweep, and yet her interior reveals a loving heart, being a patron Mother Goddess to women. She calls us to claim our inner power. I typically used her for that occasional kitchen burn like most of you. As a kid, I quickly learned she could be used for bacterial infections like staph. She healed me when antibiotics failed and always surpassed any anti-bacterial ointments. She grows wild in Florida which must suit her watery element. Living in Florida now for nine years, I’ve grown to merge with its elements, culture and heritage. One day Mother Aloe Vera saved me. It was a sticky Tampa afternoon, and I stumbled upon a shack in the historic Cuban district of Ybor City. I had just taught yoga and was feeling positive about my healthy path and was searching further down my road. I was about to be taught more. Cephas was his name and aloe smoothies were his game. At sixty-five, he was as fit as any twenty-year-old I’ve seen in our tropical city. He was from Jamaica and he spo’-ka like dis. His Calypso-typed cadence had me very enthralled in his words, and boy, did that man speak. He never held back from telling me things like, “You’re fat because your small inTEStines aren’da working.” He also mentioned, “Put da aloe on dose wrinkles and dey’ll go away.” A woman of 42 has to be brave and bold to hear those truths without self-judgment. I noticed his giant aloe plant placed perfectly in front of his building. I wondered if he knew the power of protection she possessed. Cephas said, “Drink aloe smoothies four

times a week and you’ll drop da weight.” Then he proceeded to talk to me about my inner mucus with much detail and vigor. It was an icky conversation that led me to ask about my glands. I had been diagnosed prior with adrenal fatigue which was affecting my ovaries and thyroid. I was a sweet, hot mess, but I had learned to accept my transitioning inner goddess and let myself gently unfold. He then says, “Use da birth control sister. Many women in deir 40’s and 50’s, dey come and tell me deir pregnant.” “Okay, okay, I’m sold. Hook me up with an Aloe Vera smoothie.” He proceeds to make a giant Aloe Vera smoothie out of the elephant eared aloe plant. He pours me a cup. “DRINK,” he says forcefully. I taste it. “Ewwww,” I grimace. “You’ll get used to it”, he says. “The more mucus you have, the harder to take. “ “Okay,” I drink more. “NO, slam it down!” he cadences. Done! Now he pours more from the pitcher. In the meantime, I’m about to hurl and the earth is spinning. “Drink it all,” he says. “Seriously—I can’t,” I moan. “No you must,” he says as if my life depended on it. So I somehow get another cup down and let him pour one more to finish my order. I start to sneak off to my car with the full cup in my hand. “You better drink dat,” he bellows. “It’s okay if you throw up in the bushes.” It’s been about a year since that day I met Mother Aloe Vera in a whole new light. Ruled by Venus, she taught me to love myself. As part of my weekly ritual I make my own aloe smoothies now. It is interesting how like heals like. As I carefully slice open the giant, sharp leaf this oozing snot begins to seep out. It heals the soggy part of me—that I’ve neglected too long. I light a seagreen candle to connect to Mother

Aloe Vera’s serener side. As I drink Her down, I imagine all the mucky energy inside me is washing away. Any harm I’ve done to my body, any energy attachments, any residue I’ve picked up from others is now being pushed down, down, down, moving the darker energies that don’t serve me. They can’t pass the gelatinous fudge that continues to move, further into my small intestine that is now a winding journey. She spends some deliberate time here cleansing, healing, and repairing the damage of the past. Mother Aloe Vera finally leaves my system the good old-fashioned way, and I am blessed with renewal. I then take the wide ends of the leaf that I have cut off to get to her heart. I slice these and proceed to bless my entire body with her calming essence as I rub her insides all over my skin. I pay special attention to those areas that look more weathered from aging, pregnancies and environmental stressors. Okay, yeah, I mean wrinkles, sags, bags, scars and stretch marks. I have loved the effects of Mother Aloe Vera so much that I’m trying to find ways to make a face gel out of Her. I find the elephant eared aloe easily in my store in Florida, but if you find nothing in your area consider visiting Cephas’ Hot Shop website and ordering from him. The bottled aloe is helpful, but not full of the wonderful digestive enzymes of the live leaf. I hope to start an Aloe revolution. Please join me! Rev. LET IT GO

S

ometimes we have to let go of people. I believe that people are inherently good. That we are all doing the best with what we have. Abraham Lincoln once said “Don’t criticize them, they are just what we would be under similar circumstances.” So letting go of others is not declaration that you believe you are better, or that they do not have something to give. It is the sober conclusion of your heart’s understanding that you are the average of the company you keep. I believe that people are good, I also believe people can be toxic, and that they must go. Always reminding ourselves that we could be that toxic person to someone else. In pruning our lives some people, some branches, may be bigger. A harder snip, a heavier loss. We don’t have to wait for people to suck the life out of us before we can let them go. Trust yourself. “There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this -- when people can walk away from you.... LET THEM WALK. I don’t want you to 24 may 2013 • Tampa Bay Wellness

try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean...hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you...LET THEM WALK. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.” - Unknown We have to let go of experiences. Our range of experiences as people is so varied and vast, and some of your experiences surpass my ability to empathize. But what ever it is, whatever happened, whatever relationship ended, whatever job you lost, whatever violence you experienced, whatever cruel things you’ve been told, we all have one thing in common. To relive it over and over is crippling. In the mission work that I have done I have met people who smile as if they aren’t starving, who skip on glass and laugh from their hips. If asked about their life they would tell me, but it is not their M.O. I mention this because I have had the privilege of spending time with people who,

in the life experience department, could have you crying in seconds. I’ve seen with my own eyes that those who do not feel sorry for themselves free up their minds to think about other things, like how they can use what they already have. Without fail, whether it be a CEO or a villager, if you get caught up in your bad experiences you are speaking a crippled language to an able bodied world. To turn the tide, to change your life, to build a hut or a company it begins with your attitude. Whatever happened let it go. We have to let go of pain. This is a tough one. There is a disease of the nervous system that very few people have that causes the body not to experience pain. I saw a documentary about a little girl who had this disease and was amazed to see that without pain her life was a total mess. She didn’t know when she was touching a stove, she couldn’t be near anything sharp and playing with other children was a minefield of dangers. The families’ entire life was based www.tampabaywellness.com

on keeping her bandaged or protected. She does heal, but hurts herself so often that she is always nursing an injury. If you think about our emotional lives, and if we are really honest with ourselves, the same thing is likely to happen. Without the pain we would stay with people who are bad for us, we wouldn’t leave jobs, we would camp out in our destructive friendships. We wouldn’t savor the warmth of comfort, because we wouldn’t know any different. We would be cut, and burnt and wandering through our lives. The pain, the ugly crying in the fetal position, or that numb staring at the wall kind of pain is what propels us back to ourselves. Sure we still get bruised, sometimes even broken, but we heal and try not to do it again armed with pain to remind us. That’s where pain becomes our friend, that little girl doesn’t have pain to remind her why she shouldn’t do things again. Watching that documentary I felt grateful that I experience pain, not only do I know when I am touching a stove but a simple paper cut and my body hollers out. I’m not saying pain is okay, and it can do a real number on us. After we learn as children what hurts us physically the majority of our pain comes from our decision-making. We have more control than we’d like to admit in how much pain we experience. So how do we let it go? I only know one thing for sure about pain and that is that it demands to be experienced. You have to let it in before you can let it go. We have to let go of our opinions. We have put way too high a price on our opinions. Remember when you were younger and thought you knew something for sure, and now you want to pat that sweet kid on the head and tell them their

crazy. People’s opinions make the world an interesting place to live; it lends balance to our society and governments. But when you latch on too tightly too an opinion the natural result is to alienate yourself from the world. You start to think of things in an “us” verses “them” mentality, you exist in a state of separation. This is most dramatically demonstrated in with those who have zealous religious or political beliefs. But it’s true on every level. Maybe blue’s your favorite color today, but don’t waste your time swearing that you’ll always feel that way. Live in a state of excitement about how you might change, and evolve. Believe in things, but don’t be chained to them.

over, we’re always manufacturing the next life and death experience in our mind. We are living in a state of fear, running from an invisible predator. Fear sounds like one of the biggest things to “let go” of, but its actually one of the easiest. Because once you realize that it’s not even real, then you understand that what your letting go of is an illusion, a lie you’ve believed. So let go of fear, it’s the weakest of all our vices. We have to let go of unworthiness. So if fear is really insecurity, then what is insecurity? Insecurities root system in Continued on Page 28

We have to go of fear. Wanna know the best kept secret in the world? Fear is fake. It doesn’t exist; it’s one of the greatest hoaxes of life. Fear is insecurities scariest costume. How many times has something that you were afraid of ended up being as bad as you thought? I learned in a documentary on National Geographic that humans are the only animals in existence that still experience the release of stress hormones in non-life threatening environments. The zebra grazes, and once it spots the lion it gets a surge of adrenaline and runs for its life. But once it has escaped and is safe again it resumes grazing, the stress hormones go down and it returns to its biology as usual until the next life or death moment. Humans on the other hand can release the same stress hormones in 5 o’clock traffic as we would if our life was threatened. The modern day human’s body exists in a sustained state of fight or flight. We forgot that the danger is over and that we can be okay again. Why? Because we believe the danger is never

Yet, much about our modern American culture works against the soul nourishment of a child that can only come from time spent with family: the economic demands on families requiring both parents to work, the high numbers of families led by struggling single parents, the work ethic in our country that has created the two-week vacation model, (compared to four or five weeks vacation granted in even the first year of work in other industrial countries), the disintegration of the extended family leaving children little opportunity to form relationships with grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins who live scattered across the continent. Add to this the time that children (and adults) spend in front of screens instead of in relationship with family members or friends and I say that a child’s relationships today stand a good chance of being impoverished. I am not suggesting that single parents or two-career families are unable to offer the nourishment of love and relationship to children. I am simply saying that, given modern day conditions, parents must work consciously to ensure that children have time, precious time, with significant human beings in their lives. Soul nourishment thrives in the small details of our lives: a nightly story read, a walk around the neighborhood with the cell phone turned off, a sit down meal with conversation, old fashioned board games played together, meals prepared together, work around the house done together, songs sung in the car, grandparents’ stories

told of the old days. To support and make a place for these relational activities there is need for a quiet house (without the ever-present sounds of radio and television) that invites talk, daydreams, imaginary play, ponderings and just being together. Since children spend such a great amount of time in school, it is also important that love and relationships are experienced there but vast school systems driven by high stakes testing have, in many ways, lost a quality of relationship that once existed. Recess (long abolished in public schools) used to be a prime time for children to develop relationships. With the mounting pressures of the No Child Left Behind policies, teachers struggle even to find the time they once had to enjoy such rewarding experiences as reading books to their children. Children at younger and younger ages are experiencing stress and burn-out. If our civilization is to withstand the rigors of today’s modern economic-based, technological life, it is human relationships and love that will carry us through the eye of the needle. Let us at least begin by bringing human consciousness to the art of parenting and teaching so that children do not suffer for lack of the nourishment that can only come through love and relationship.

Continued from page 25 your life is the belief that you are unworthy. I have heard it said that there is a big difference between believing you deserve to be happy and knowing that you are worthy. We want to believe this. There is no miracle cream or special tribal dance that can give you this understanding. But my one tip is this. Just because you don’t think something doesn’t mean you can’t believe it. Your life’s experience, your mind, your circumstances, your comfortable litany of excuses may be fighting you on this but those are just things you are thinking. Purely thought. Choose to believe anyway. The fact that you are worthy is not rocket science; it is the simplest and most profound truth of your existence. Oprah said it best in her final episode “You are worthy, because you are born.” We have to let go of hope to make room for knowing. Hope is beautiful, don’t get me wrong. But I think hope is often misused. Hope should be a childlike sensation, a wistful feeling about the things outside our understanding. Not the dressed up version of desperation. We cannot hope for things, we must know… in your bones know, that your desires are already yours. Hope is noun, knowing is a verb. Let go of hoping that life will be a certain way, instead know that it is what you say it is. Because knowing expresses that you understand the rule of the universe that states that what we think we feel, what we feel we believe, and what we believe becomes our experience. We have to let go of blame. Here’s the thing about blame, it’s often justified. People hurt each other in tiny and horrific ways everyday. If there is a heap of blame you’ve been carrying around then you probably have a good reason. I know that some people have had some incredibly traumatic experiences, and many of us just have a long list of mildly traumatic experiences but there’s only one thing to say about that…“shit happens”. Excuse my language, and I don’t mean to sound un-sympathetic, but we just can’t change that stuff now. Now you are no longer the victim of the household you lived in, or what you’ve been told. You decide who you are. In the areas you can take responsibility take it and grow. In the areas that it was not your fault, know that it sucks, and the fact that it happened will never be ok. But the only thing worse than the experience would be to lose your life to it. Possibly my favorite quote in the world is by Anais Nin who said “And the day came when the risk to remain in a tight bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Blame hurts you more than the other person. Forgiveness does not say that it is okay; it declares that you will be okay. So let go of the fame you’ve given the experience, let go of the shame you may be carrying, and let go of the blame your quietly hurling. When you let go of the fame, shame, and blame the rest of us will be here ready and waiting to meet you. Let go of the story. Our stories are fascinating projections of what we think the rest of the world wants us to look like. We think our stories are about what we want, but really we’ve shaped what we want around the world’s rules. The way water takes the shape of its container. We see the grand vision play out with our Barbie dolls or watching our parents interact. We subconsciously draft an inexplainably detailed story of “the way my life should look”. Part of growing up is the process of watching our story get deconstructed one chapter at a time. Sometimes small re-writes, other times whole chapters are ripped out. The first step is being able to recognize it 28 may 2013 • Tampa Bay Wellness

as a story, an innocent projection, a sketch. That alone is freeing. Then realize that the story is like a blue print of your brain. That if you look close at each expectation you had for yourself you can see the reality of your sub-conscious thoughts very clearly. Things you didn’t even realize you were taught about the world until you realize what you expected of it. Taking that knowledge to the next step is to laugh. Laugh at yourself, laugh with the innocent author inside you that was just doing the best they could with the input they received. Give a mental hug to the little boy who thought he’d be making more money, or the little girl who though for sure she’d have kids by now. Now you know that the blue print had many flaws and that you get to draw a new one. I’m not encouraging you to write a new story you can then get attached to. What I am saying is that we only get as much as we believe we deserve. So keep expecting greatness from your life, just put down your pen and use an etch-a-sketch, using both hands to create and erase as you go. When I think about letting go I think of the word shed. I love the word shed, it implies a natural falling away. The body just knowing, without judgment, what needs to go. There is no what if ’s or maybe’s or fear of regret. But a moment-by-moment release of what no longer sustains the vibrancy we deserve. Snakes, for instance, shed this impossibly perfect shell of themselves. They do don’t miss it, they don’t mourn it, to the snake the process is not optional. But the person, our curse and greatest opportunity is that our shedding is a choice. We can wear the same skin for as long we like, even once it is dead, we have to choose to let it go. And so because the word shed implies a natural process I think we tend to peel more than shed. We notice an irritation, something that no longer fits. We pick at the edge. And when we’re ready, often long after its time, we make the choice to pull. And thought-by-thought, decision-by-decision, we reveal our next form. And no matter how long, or awkward, or lonely, or fumbling the transition, and no matter where it leaves us or how it war-torn we look we are always, always, always more beautiful for that work.

AGING – IT’S ALL IN YOUR MIND! Here is an affirmation I created to get me through one of the most challenging times in my life:

D

“Today brings wonderful and unique experiences and opportunities that will never happen again.....BE THERE!”

id you know that your perceptions create your reality? I see it practically every day in my hypnotherapy practice. How a person “frames” getting older, or anything else, projects into their environment and into the very cells of their body. When someone comes to me, I listen to how they “young”. A positive attitude toward life not describe their life, their “self ”, and their only affects your emotions, it affects your perceptions about their past and future. skin, internal organs, immune system, and The unconscious mind acts out whatever each and every cell of your body. In my private practice I find that as soon as someone begins to change the The cellular receptors adapt to the habit of focusing on the negative prospects environment of their surroundings, and that of aging into a new habit of focusing on includes the energy vibration of thought. and expecting new, positive and exciting If the majority of thoughts are those of experiences and opportunities associated “sadness”, the cells will develop more of the with the next phase of their life, they receptors designed to recognize “sadness”, immediately get a new sense of optimism, and fewer of those they aren’t utilizing. their energy increases, their minor aches This is why someone will eventually seem and pains become less evident, and they unable to experience happiness, even when actually start to look & feel younger. It is it seems to be right in front of them. simply a matter of “re-training” the mind by changing the focus of attention, and Back to staying young. Many years hypnosis and NLP facilitate this change ago, I noticed that youth is an attitude. A great philosopher once said, “We always move in the direction of our most dominant thought”. Ask yourself, “What do I think about most of the day?” If the answer is “something I don’t want”, then be careful. Your unconscious mind thinks that is your goal and has no choice except to act on creating it. When you catch yourself thinking or focusing on what you don’t want, interrupt that thought and “reframe” it to what you do want. (Hint: It will probably be the opposite of what you were just thinking!) I hope these insights will assist those of you who are in search of ways to improve the quality and quantity of your lives. With just a little effort and practice, you can develop new habits of thinking and behaving that can help you to stay young in attitude and appearance, and active and optimistic about life. So pay attention to your thoughts and create a long, happy and healthy life for yourself. Spiritual Spring Cleaning De–Cluttering from the Inside Out

A

hh, cleaning the closet. Don’t you anyway, and you’re digging through the just love it? But it’s not one of piles of stuff on the shelves or in boxes or baskets on the floor. those jobs that you can love if Suddenly, there you are, raking out the you’re planning on doing it. I mean, who ever gets up in the morning and is thrilled closet, clothes are flying everywhere, a pile about saying, “Today I’m going clean the to give away, a pile that needs mending closet! Yippee!”?? or washing. And then there’s the stuff to In my experience, it’s one of those jobs try on because you’re a different size now, you can only love when it happens spon- one way or the other, or you want to be, taneously. You know, like you just went in or fear you’re going to be, so what do you there for one thing. Maybe you didn’t find bring out next? Your piles of fat clothes or it right away, so you started moving things skinny clothes or your in-between clothes? around a bit, where the heck did I put that - because you’re in the midst of moving up

or down the scale. And then there’s all the other stuff that’s in there. Stored things, books and papers, a huge pile of stuff to chuck in the bin. And then there are all those odd bits of weird stuff that you know you might need or want someday but they just never found homes. You know, those things you frown at, stare at, carry around the house for a while, hunting for places for them to live, muttering, “What the heck am I supposed to do with THIS?” before discovering that you’ve still not got an answer for

www.tampabaywellness.com

that, and you put it in the closet - “for now.” Perhaps this will be the time you find homes for some of it and if you do, you’re ever so pleased with yourself. But in the meantime, there you are, hurling things into piles, running for the bin bags, hauling stuff out to the rubbish, or bagging it up for the charity shop. And oh, it feels so great to get rid of all those unwanted items. Every single one of them holds energy, and that energy is negative and builds up in your house, which then adversely affects you, even if you aren’t particularly aware of it. Some of us feel it more than others. Being a psychic and medium, I am extremely sensitive to the energy in my environment and a lot of ‘dead energy’ that comes with unused or unwanted items can really weigh me down and make me feel unwell. Okay, so there you are cleaning and sorting and chucking stuff. Now you’re really in the zone! You’re a person possessed! You’ve tackled that closet and got rid of the energy associated with old, unwanted, unnecessary belongings and you feel so much better already, you move on to the rest of the room, or perhaps other closets, drawers, shelves and storage spaces. And doesn’t it feel fantastic? Yes! You’re probably even singing or humming, maybe you’ve cranked up some tunes. You might even be dancing around (but don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone I saw you singing into that deodorant can). Amazing, isn’t it? You were dragging your sorry behind all over the house half an hour ago, and suddenly you’re wired for sound and have no idea where all this energy came from! But who cares? It feels great and you’re making progress so whatever else you were doing when you got sidetracked with closet cleaning will just have to wait! After all, you’ve been meaning to do this for...how long? When you get these sudden bursts of energy that have you tearing apart your house, de-cluttering and reorganizing, they are usually brought about by a de-cluttering and a reorganizing in you. Our environments reflect what’s going on inside us. If there is chaos and disorganization on the outside, you can bet it’s the same on the inside. A sterile, frighteningly neat and tidy home reflects a need for order and control that stems from fear and anxiety that are felt on the inside. Every once in a while, we need a good de-cluttering in our homes, and certainly inside ourselves, too. Every once in a while, it’s good to go through what we need, what we don’t, what’s important to us, what should stay, what must go - whether we’re talking about the stuff in our houses, or the beliefs, desires, what we want - or don’t want – in ourselves. A little personal re-evaluation from time to time is a great thing to experience, and when we find ourselves in the throes of it, whether by circumstance or by choice, we will often find us suddenly compelled to go through the closets and cupboards as we make our homes reflect our inner selves. Sometimes, de-cluttering the closets is the signal that we’re ready to clean house on the inside, too, or that changes have been going on somewhere in there, whether we’ve been particularly aware of them or not. I absolutely love cleaning out the cupboards and raking out all kinds of stuff I no longer need or want - whether in my home or in myself. I love getting rid of negative energy, cleansing my home and my aura regularly by being sure I’m not holding onto anything www.tampabaywellness.com

I don’t want or need. I like to take stock of what I have and what I need - who I am and who I’m not. What to change and what to keep, whether in my house, or in myself. It’s the only way I can keep my world (both inner and outer) functioning at maximum capacity like a well-oiled machine. Hmmmm....I don’t know about you, but I feel a cleaning spree coming on... Better haul out the bin bags!

During the early years of growing up, we build layers of imbalances and blockages of this vital Chi/Energy. This imbalance/blockage stops or limits our normal frequency to our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical levels of our well being. We literaly “get out of tune or sync” with our own natural and normal frequency. horoscopes ARIES TENDERNESS…this may be a stretch at times but the key over April is to demonstrate a wee bit more of caring and consciousness. Life is not a race. Slow down a bit and work towards elevating a more encompassing and gracious view on those who touch your life. Seek more to objectify rather than gratify.

April - 2013

By Imsara

TAURUS AWARENESS…There are habits you have been enabling that have now plainly run their course. Engage in some honest reflection and change what you need to. Sometimes we do not realize when we are enabling ourselves to lead a less than stellar life!

VIRGO

FULFILLMENT…music to your ears I know! Lasting nourishment first comes from an appreciation of whom you essentially are. To keep your fire bright take the time to really stop, look and count the ways and benefits, the joys and flowers you have within your life. Notice any habits or ways of being in your life that truly hold no nourishment for you.

CHALLENGE…and it may be about time. In a benevolent sense this has the potential to birth your dreams more into your reality. Face whatever presents itself and continue to make the deep shifts and changes you have been making. If you haven’t then it is time to dance with life a bit deeper!

SAGITTARIUS

CAPRICORN

HEALING…AAAH yes…a great concept but have you utilized it lately? Time to pause and regroup asking yourself the deeper questions and committing to moving forward after a time of rejuvenation and catharsis. Your future can emerge only as you take steps to heal your own patterns that interrupt your best life!

P OT E N T I A L … g e n e r a l l y, potential is music to your ears as you seen to deeper levels of expression in your life. You can benefit by pausing and asking one or two VIP’s within your life their opinion relative to areas that may still be untapped. Think heart and begin to evaluate the ways you can amplify your expression of it!

GEMINI SUSTENANCE…is not just what you eat. It is important to nourish your life by paying attention to the choices you make while living it. Greet every day like it is a mini-new life and take the time to organize ways and means you can streamline and simplify tasks as well as pleasures. A time of healing is opening up.

LIBRA WHOLENESS…how nice. You may be pushing others or feel pushed yourself to be different than the way you are. Strive to be straightforward with others. Given honest consult when asked. Release any kind of blame or any kind of behaviour or comments that may have felt insensitive. There are many better days ahead!

AQUARIUS GUIDANCE…cosmic signals are more available to you as the time quickens to bring more and deeper transformation to your life. Pay attention and realize the key is in your outlook. Loosen the screws, open the windows and give heed to what you hear. Your future is dependent on new ways of seeing.

CANCER EXPANSIVENESS…in the sense that more awakening awaits you. To do this effectively time needs to be taken to feel out places within your life in which you have grown stagnant and bored. There is also a need to recognize that your belief system needs further renovation and review!

SCORPIO DESIRE…Deepen a sense of spontaneity and enjoyment in the world at large. Intensity is the norm for you and things may seem a bit more intense lately but it is time to make choices that alleviate that a bit. Seek refreshment and rejuvenation in nature. Plan a quick getaway soon and maybe a longer one over the summer—just for you!

PISCES RELEASE… Yes, it is time to clear out more of remaining chaos or clutter and align yourself, your environment and those who support you in ways that can harmonize more with your sense of purpose and living. Release any of the more needy aspects of your life, including those that you may paint with altruistic motives. This may sound strange but it is time to ground just a bit more!
