on’t get us wrong. We love l o v e LOVE the CC game here at SF, but let’s face it… sometimes the choices can get a little…. similar. We all have our faves, and we love pretty much everyone who creates, but when someone really different comes on the scene it’s definitely a cause célèbre. And in like a breath of haute couture Sims CC air comes Artsims. We have been watching this creator for a while now, and we’re pleased to find he is as charming as he is talented. Let’s get right to it. Thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us. Please tell us a bit about yourself. Thanks for having me! My simming “stage name” is artsims and I’m a fashion, technology and arts lover. Other than that, I’m just a normal student who’s 17 and lives

in Germany. When I started my page, it was my goal to take FASHION and GAMING TECHNOLOGY and make it into an experience for the whole Sims community around the world. I focus on haute couture, and converting real life high fashion designer pieces into pixels. What inspired you to start creating for the Sims? What keeps you going? Thinking about it, I would say that it started back then when I was just around 7 years old. My best friend, who was at the same time my neighbor, used to have The Sims. I used to go to her house almost every day so we could play The Sims together. After a few years, The Sims 2 came out and made me instantly fall in love. I started creating my own custom content, started to make music videos and became a part of the community. After being on hiatus for almost three years, I discovered The Sims 3 last year and got back to my roots. That’s how the birth of ARTSIMS slowly took place. I have to say I was ASTOUNDED as literally while chatting with me over a very short time you created 2 pieces of your amazing Collection Premier set. How long does it generally take you to perfect a design? First of all, I am so happy to have been chosen for this magazine. Creating the capsule premiere collection was
so much fun, and I’m really looking forward to the designs hitting the magazine and the download pages soon! It usually doesn’t take me very long to create something because I always plan ahead on what to create next. Finding the perfect outfits to create isn’t actually hard when you know many designer names. Many peopl say that I’m a “robotic machine because I create so fast! But it often easy to forget that there actually a young human – with exceptional aspiration – behind t pixels and the art, the fashion a the blog. I use The Sims to live out m hobby and to practice what I want do later in life - being a stylist.
Where do you draw your inspiration and what tools do you use? My inspiration comes from a lot of places. It’s no secret that Lady Gaga and the fashion community are some of my biggest influences. I got myself a copy of

Vogue, I believe, like five years ago. Looking through the pages, I fell in love with a design by Marc Jacobs. Two weeks later, I saw my favorite idol, Gaga, wearing that exact dress at a press conference here in Germany, and I was so hyped, I started creating that dress for The Sims 2. To create my pieces, I use Milkshape. I don’t like to call it a “3D program to create 3D stuff”. I see myself as the artist, and I see Milkshape as my own canvas. It just takes a few vertexes to create something that was five minutes ago just in your head. And that is what amazes me and drives me to create more and more. It’s like building your own sculptures, without moving a lot! *laughs* Other than that, I’m not different than any other talented community members. Looking at people like m1ssduo, jewels’n’sims or momosims gives me a lot of strength and inspiration too. Simming is only fun when there are people with you that support you and help you.

But what’s better is to make them pose in those designs in your own studio and make them look fierce and fashionable! Of course there are many crazy designs that are almost impossible to move it, hence the differently jointed vertexes, so some of those designs are just custom made for photoshoots and special poses - and are impossible to play with! But I also have a lot of basic outfits, accessories or shoes that every Sim female can wear paired with an accessory jacket or scarf. There’s no limit on ARTSIMS!

Would you say your creations are more for everyday play or the visual photo-shoot scenario? My creations are veeery versatile and flexible. There are many “creative” designs that you can

What advice do you have for aspiring creators? The first advice I would give is to find your source. Find your belief and your inspiration. Because that will never leave you and will hold you up when you
own Sim, own house... even a whole town if you want to! For me, it is one of the best games that could have been created, and I want to thank EA for that. I’m kind of curious because more and more I see creators vowing that they will not create for Sims 4. What are your plans for the new world of the Sims? Well, I have to say that we may be judging too fast. I think The Sims 4 will have, just like the predecessors, many possibilities. I will definitely get myself the game to test it out. It will, of course, take a little time to see the first few good custom downloads. But I’m going to strongly believe that it will be a whole new amazing experience. Even if I am sliiiightly not satisfied at how the hairstyles look! *laughs*
feel like giving up. The Sims community CAN be cruel, and I experienced it. Try to find friends here. Here are SO many nice people that share the same interests as you, and it’s more fun to create and play together than alone! Try to find your style and originality, because Simmers love to see uniqueness! Just never try to be someone else just to be liked and accepted by other Simmers. Be honest to yourself and have fun! It’s a game with no limit! Now I have to ask, do you have time to actually play the Sims these days? What do you enjoy most about the game? Of course! It doesn’t happen as often as back then when I wasn’t a creator, but occasionally I do play! My current Sim is Stefani Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga. Simple townie with the life goal to be a rock star while wearing her meat dress already. Let’s see if that works out! There are so many things that I enjoy about the Sims. First of all, it’s amazing how many possibilities there are! You can create your
As a Sims creator and lover of the game, what would you like to see more of in the Sims and the Sims Community as whole? There’s not much to wish for actually. I really love how everyone is so tight with each other, just like in high school! Of course there can be negativity, but all in all, the positive people always win by overshadowing everything negative. I, myself, think I will be for a long time around here, and watch the evolution of everything - of the game, and of us. We grow every day, just like our creativity and the game itself. So we all keep the spirit up together.

ome things are just meant to be. The happy synergy of Ms_Blue’s fashions and their star model Nova is a perfect example. Nova’s perfect features and range of looks make her a natural. But it almost didn’t happen. The lovely Naomi Jamieson gives SF all the dish in our first edition of MUSE. LOOK at you Ms. Nova! It’s such a pleasure to meet you. I have to say that many models are… not so impressive in person but honey, you are gorgeous! Thank you! I’m really happy to be here. I’m so excited to be featured in your magazine. We’ve been following you for a while now, though. Tell us about youself? I have a feeling you may regret this. *laughs* I don’t think I’m all that interesting actually. I was born in Bridgeport. My mom is a teacher so… good grades or else. Happy childhood. Minimal drama. *laughs* My father disappeared when I was two. I suppose that was dramatic, but my mother never talked about it.
How did you come to be called “Nova?” Was it because you were so… explosive? *Laughs* Not exactly. Maybe as a toddler. My mother always called me Nova. She got it from my father. He had Native American ancestors and in Hopi it means “chases butterfly.” Now I know everyone comes to Starlight Shores hoping to be discovered, but that’s not your story is it? Not even a little bit. I started late for a model. Generally your shelf life is pretty short in this business. Most of us start very young. I was fresh out of Uni, looking for work and visiting my mom when I literally bumped into a talent scout. Literally? Oh yes. Groceries and job applications everywhere. And as he helped me pick everything up he just kept… staring at me. Oh my… Do I detect a touch of romance to your story?

Not at all. He was in his 30’s… which at the age of 21 seemed ancient. *laughs* When he told me he was an agent, I did think it was a line. But he was very serious. So you studied to be an engineer. Didn’t you find modeling a bit… light? Completely the contrary. For the first time I felt like… I was in my element. It was like a tiger being released from a cage. I had never felt so… fierce… or so confident. I felt like a WOMAN. Even Nova made sense. As in energy. I love how I can be a chameleon in my work. I love the challenge. You definitely break the rules. Many models try to find a signature “look,” but you’re almost a different person with every job. And I LOVE that. It would be so boring being

the same face with every shoot. If I’d observed all the rules, I’d never have got anywhere.

You seem you have a natural smolder. What inspires you when you’re posing? Who are you when you’re in front of that camera? I always go with the moment. I’m… me. The most “me” I ever am. I think sexuality is only attractive when it’s natural and spontaneous. And what comes next for you Nova? Well, I’m 27. That’s kind of up there for modeling. I did meet a certain someone on my latest job for SF. So who knows? Maybe it’s time to settle down… just a bit.

So Mark, please explain to us all in the sims community exactly what is Sims World TV? MARK STONE: Well Dylan, Sims World TV is an online TV channel that will stream only Sims related content 24/7. Our goal is to showcase the best works of machinima and simatography the community has to offer, along with additional Sims content that Simmers love and want to see.

How did you develop this awesome idea? MARK STONE: I have to say it’s been a long time coming; this idea has been in the planning stages for two years now. And as a huge machinima fan, I was recently inspired to bring it to life after rave responses from a
few professionals in the Sims community such as Minraed, AsiaShaMecca and others who also helped put the finishing touches on building my production team. So with that, I decided the time is now. The Sims community has so much to offer; it’s the greatest gaming community there is, and it bears some of the most amazing talents on earth. And we feel it’s time for the world to take a glance at some of that talent... 24/7!! Lol!

traddling the outskirts of Greenacres, Rabbit Ridge overlooks grassy meadows and flowering summer gardens. Ivy Mansard, famed author of the Stan of Clean Gables children’s novels, retreats to Rabbit Ridge, her childhood home, every summer to put pen to paper and recall fond memories of her youth. The bricks, stones, wattle and daub used to build this Tudor style home date back centuries when the dwelling was first constructed. Cobblestone paths meander among blooming bushes, herb gardens, and topiaries. Picnic on grilled beef skewers, fresh picked fruit, and peach nectar in the shade of the canvas umbrella or outdoor pavilion.

In the afternoon, Ivy invites friends and family into the parlor to nibble on warm pastries and peppermint tea. Lampshades of stained glass and colorful print fabrics cast the room in a rainbow of hues as the late setting sun dips over the horizon. Beneath the winding staircase hangs a painted portrait of Ivy’s mother in her youth, and angled just so in the corner by the bookcase is a treasured antique grandfather clock, aptly named given it once belonged to her grandfather’s grandfather.

Floral patterns and sheer curtains keep the master bedroom sunny and alive. “I had the most fun decorating the children’s rooms,” Ivy recalls. “My son, Max, loves anything that moves, from racecars to helicopters, from pirate ships to space rockets.” Ivy’s daughter, Julia, inherited her mother’s artful imagination, and her bed is tucked beneath a custom-built house perfect for hours of play and makebelieve with stuffed animals and dolls.

For our readers who may not know you, tell us a bit about yourself. Hi, my family calls me Aloleng. I first started playing The Sims with The Sims 1, then tried building in The Sims 2 (but never tried uploading then), then tried my best with The Sims 3. What are your favorite aspects of the game? First, I love the fact that you can play with your Sim’s
appearance and how they’ll live. It’s like playing “Barbie” in a different way. I love how versatile you are as a builder and the diversity of styles represented in your portfolio. Do you have a background in architecture, art, or design, or is this all just a hobby? No, I don’t have any background in architecture or some sort. It all started as a hobby. What is your favorite style of architecture and design? Every house design I can think of. Modern, traditional, Victorian, cottage or country style. Anything goes. What made you want to start sharing your builds with the world? My husband encouraged me to upload. Well, the first upload wasn’t that good. LOL! What is your favorite aspect of building a home? The architecture, landscaping, interior design, or just playing the house when it’s finally done? What are your greatest challenges when building a home? Actually everything. I love deciding how I make the architecture and how the landscape will go with it. The most important part in my building for me is the interior. I want a house that is easy

When did you first begin playing The Sims series, and what are your favorite aspects of the game?
Does the Sim Ant count? What is not to love about The Sims series. I was interested in and amazed at the animation and Sim interaction. Just look at those faces they pull. Does anyone besides myself refer to you as the “queen of lighting”? You have certainly developed a niche in Sims illumination. What drew you to this particular aspect of the game? Is that an interest you have in real life as well? Ha! “Queen of lighting”, that puts a huge smile on my face.

My interest with lighting began before The Sims series. I made an animation of the starlight in the night sky. It took longer than a year to produce. It was a semi accurate version of stars in the summer night sky including the colors and fading clouds, moving around a rising and setting moon. Something like you currently see in The Sims 3 night sky. I began studying light and its affects on people, the earth, and the sky. The most interesting to me lately is “light pollution�. As you know from playing The Sims series, just as in real life, light affects everyone and everything.
Where do you draw inspiration for your work? Are there particular furniture and lighting designers in real life to whom you look? Everything in the game and the items I make are inspired by real life Art. It is the mood of a design in furniture or lighting art that I try to simulate.
Give me some insight into how you create your objects. What tools do you use, and how long does it take you to create particular pieces? I use The Sims Resource Workshop, Photoshop, MilkShape 3D and chocolate for creating. How long it takes me to create something really depends on the object I am producing. For a single lamp I would guess that it takes me about a day and one ounce of chocolate.

I can only imagine that most of your time with the game is spent creating content for it. Do you get much time to play the game as well?

ôtes d’Ambonnay is a French medieval world composed of three main islands which takes its inspiration from the hills of northeastern France. Discovered by pirates in the early 1400s, the common people eventually overcame the criminal element and formed their own government and evicted these lawless ones and miscreants to the northernmost island of the Badlands where they could live as they wish, without causing so much disturbance among those of a less unruly, volatile nature. To this very day, descendants of these rebels continue to thrive there. There are several distinct communities to be found on Côtes d’Ambonnay. The docks at Sarlat and the downtown area of Sarlat, which can be thought of as the center of the world, the main town--most of the world’s business is conducted here. The village, known by the name, Armagnac, is a rustic place where the peasants and some from the middle class make their home. The most northern island, the Badlands, tends to remain as the home of the rebels but boasts of its famous castle, some lovely parks and the world’s cemetery. Beauharnais, the center island, is a special place to visit, with or without the family. It hosts the Whyte Knight, an exclusive lounge, a lovely spa and the Enchanted Forest. There is a rumor going around that a very large parcel of land is available for sale but no one has yet been able to come up with the funds to purchase it.

The Academy area to the west (or left) of downtown Sarlat is mostly rural but has equestrian training facilities and a mountain lake for fishing most of the year. A tiny fishing village can be found to the far east. The fish cleaning station is the heart of this small community, and someone has converted an old ship run aground to a diner for the locals. The food isn’t bad. Other homes and empty lots are scattered here and there around the world. Côtes d’Ambonnay makes use of all Expansion Packs, except for Into the Future. There are a few objects from Showtime that are not essential. There are also a few items used from some Stuff Packs, but these items are not essential. The world takes advantage of a good amount of store content including content from Riverview, Barnacle Bay, Hidden Springs, Sunlit Tides, Monte Vista, Dragon Valley, and Midnight Hollow. The Keep Me Clean Outdoor Shower from Serenity Retreat, now available separately from the Sims Store, is used extensively in our world. The world includes no third party custom content, but the creators recommend two items, a working clock and small clock tower roof made by Cyclonesue.
