CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP

HYMN NO. 407 My Faith Looks Up to Thee OLIVET

WELCOME, INVOCATION & THE LORD'S PRAYER Rev. Allie Osborne

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

A LITANY FOR WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY Abigail Reams & Carolina Sargent

Leader 1: In the midst of uncertain times, it is right and good to remind ourselves not just of what could be, but of what will be.

People: We worship the God who created time, and Whose promises stand firm forever.

Leader 2: The Scriptures tell us that God’s eternal Kingdom will contain “a great multitude that no one can count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages.” (Revelation 7:9).

People: We worship the God who created every nation, tribe, people and language out of love. And so God’s promise of grace is offered to all.

Leader 1: Following His death and resurrection, which we remember and celebrate through the practice of communion, and in His final words to us on Earth, Jesus commissioned us to “go and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19).

People: We worship the God Who calls us from the sidelines and invites us into the work of the Kingdom. One of God’s blessings is the opportunity to join in the fulfilling of God’s promises.

Leader 2: As we break the bread and drink from the cup today, remind us O Lord that we do not do so in isolation. We are part of a universal and diverse Church that crosses every line the world uses to divide us.

All: We worship the God who prepares for us a great heavenly banquet where one day we will all feast together. May our faith in God’s promises inspire us to build bridges in our community, our country and across the world. Amen.

POSTLUDE Prelude and Fugue, BWV 553 Bach Verleen Baerg, organ

Welcome to worship at Second-Ponce! We hope you find this hour to be joyful and transformative. Our church has something for everyone, and not just on Sundays. During the week, we have special dinners, small groups and Bible studies. Wednesday evenings, we share Fellowship Supper followed by adult discipleship and ageappropriate activities for children and teens. We hope you'll join us! And now that you know a little about us, help us get to know you better by completing the blue or green card located in the pew rack and hand it to a minister or drop it in the offering plate.

HOW TO JOIN

Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where a member of our ministry team will greet you with warmth and joy. If you're uncomfortable being "in the spotlight," but still want to join–that's ok! Speak with of one our ministers after worship and they'll walk you through an alternate plan.

ADDITIONAL SUNDAY INFORMATION

CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP

We love to see children at Second-Ponce, and we have a Kids’ Club area just for them! It's one floor up from the Sanctuary, and our greeters will be happy to show you the way. In the Kids' Club, there’s a nursery and Kids Worship for babies–5th grade. You may take your children to the Kids' Club before the service or, if you prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for the entire hour or until the Doxology (when kids leave with children's ministry leaders). After worship, pick them up in the Kids’ Club.

SHARING PRAYER REQUESTS

At Second-Ponce, you have a church family who welcomes the opportunity to join you in prayer. Let us know your prayer needs by filling out a request card located on the back of the pew rack. You can drop it in the offering plate or give it to a member of the Second-Ponce ministerial staff after worship.

GIVING AN OFFERING

SHARING THEIR GIVING STORY

Julie and Chan Snipes, members of Second-Ponce for 14 years, are active in the Bridge Builders Sunday School class. Their sons, Carson and Casey, are active in the youth group and enjoy playing baseball and football. Julie has led recreation during Vacation Bible School, taught in children's Sunday School and served on the Stewardship Development Committee. Chan is Chair of our Deacons and the Leadership Council. The family enjoys time together, church, the outdoors and sports.

Your financial support of Second-Ponce allows us to carry out the mission God has for our church. There are giving cards in the pew racks that utilize a QR code for making gifts online. You may also drop your offering in the offering plate.

October 1–7 Week 1 Focus: Giving is Faith www.spdl.org/october

We give knowing God can multiply what we have and impact the world for God’s purpose. Faithful giving includes doing so systematically, generously, cheerfully and expectantly.

• Read: John 6:1–13

• Consider: How have you trusted God in the past to provide for your needs? How could you trust God in the future? What act of bold faith could you do, related to your giving, that God could bless and multiply?

• Act: Take intentional rest as an act of faith– knowing God has everything else handled. • Listen: Find our specially curated playlist on Spotify and at www.spdl.org/october.
