CALL TO WORSHIP
Luke McDonald
Katie Entrekin & Katie Milam
We ask the congregation to join us in reading the bolded text.
Lord, make us instruments of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, may we offer love;
Where there is division, may we work for unity;
Where there is error, may we stand for truth;
Where there is injury, may we offer pardon;
Where there is doubt, may we demonstrate faith;
Where there is despair, may we point to hope;
Where there is darkness, may we usher in the light;
And where there is sadness, may we discover a comforting joy.
May we unite our voices in faith, unity and love as we worship this morning.
Amen.

SPDL YOUTH ARE THE LIGHT
From up in Marietta and down to Decatur, our SPdL Youth group reaches beyond the Buckhead community. These 6th–12th graders are talented in athletics, arts and academics, and we encourage our entire church family to support and encourage our students as they share God's love during class and after school.

WE'RE "PEOPLE PEOPLE"
FOR GUESTS WE HAVEN'T MET YET
Welcome to church! Make yourself at home here! Settle in for a transformative and joyful hour of worship. We'd love to be helpful in your faith journey. There's a green card in the pew rack—I'm New Here. Use it to share as much information as you like and drop it in the offering plate. We understand that some people are hesitant to fill out church cards. It's true—a member of our pastoral staff will reach out, but you won't be flooded with calls, emails or requests. Engagement with us will be at your own pace; we just want to know who you are and how we can pray for you.
FOR GUESTS WE KNOW & CHURCH MEMBERS
Welcome back to church! Your presence is part of what makes Sundays at Second-Ponce so wonderful. If you're a guest who's ready to take the next step or a church member who wants to deepen your involvement, fill out the red pew card—I'm a Regular—and drop it in the offering plate. Let us know how we can help.
MORE GOOD STUFF
EVERYONE IS AN "INSIDER" AT SPDL
We're pulling back the curtain on some experiences and words you'll encounter today.
• Church in Conference: Once per quarter (January, April, July and October), our church family gathers after worship for a casual lunch and conversation around important church business like budget information and ministry updates.
• Doxology: The Doxology is a short hymn of praise. We use it as transition music when children leave the Sanctuary for Kids Worship; however, today is an exception.
• FriYAY: Often, our Kids' Club meets on a Friday evening to have fun as a group and give parents a night out. We call it FriYAY because everyone is excited to participate!
• Invocation: The first prayer of the service invoking the spirit of God to be with us as we worship.
• SPdL: An abbreviation for Second-Ponce de Leon. We pronounce it "Spee-duhl."
• SPdLU: An acronym for Second-Ponce de Leon University, our Wednesday evening time of adult discipleship.
• The Inclusive Psalter: A translation of the Psalms, compiled by Young Peoples’ Theology, that maintains tradition, eliminates exclusion and welcomes a wide liturgical audience.

DOXOLOGY (HYMN NO. 706)
Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow
Youth groups across all churches act as revolving doors where children move up and seniors move out. In spite of this, SPdL students remain connected because of our emphasis on two lifelong commitments: 1. Closeness with each other along the faithful journey to follow the footsteps of Jesus, and 2. Eagerness to learn more about God’s Word and the world God created. In Matthew 5:14, Jesus says to His disciples, You are the light of the world. May this Scripture be both an encouraging affirmation and a call to action for guiding this next generation of Christ followers.

CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP
We love to see children at Second-Ponce, and we have a Kids’ Club area just for them! It's one floor up from the Sanctuary, and our greeters will be happy to show you the way. In the Kids' Club, there’s a nursery and Kids Worship for babies–5th grade. You may take your children to the Kids' Club before the service or, if you prefer, they can stay with you in the Sanctuary for the entire hour or until the Doxology (when kids leave with children's ministry leaders). After worship, pick them up in the Kids’ Club.
HOW TO JOIN
OLD 100TH
Children will remain in worship with us today. We believe it is important for our kids to watch their older friends and siblings lead in worship.
RUTH B. WILLIAMSby her family.
Second-Ponce enthusiastically welcomes you to make a commitment to Christ and our community of faith. At any time during the Hymn of Response, simply walk to the front of the Sanctuary where a member of our ministry team will greet you with warmth and joy. If you're uncomfortable being "in the spotlight," but still want to join–that's ok! Speak with one of our ministers after worship and they'll walk you through an alternate plan.
