FIND OUT WHAT’S ON

whatsonreading.com 2024, eh? It feels like it’s not really a proper year, doesn’t it? Like we’re living in some far-off future! But I can tell you the future is looking very bright! There’s lots coming up as we kick off the year, from all corners of our cultural community. You like live music? The likes of Readifolk, Club Velocity and Purley’s Village Concerts have been planning ahead, bringing you some truly wonderful acts from the local and national scenes. Comedy is looking pretty good this year too, with top local promoters including Stand & Deliver Comedy Club and Laughter Craft Comedy continuing to bring stand-up stars to some unpredictable and intimate venues around Reading. And there’s lots of Reading’s own history to celebrate, with The Centre For Heritage & Family History, Terry’s Reading Walkabouts and The History of Reading Society offering up walks, talks and workshops to explore local landmarks, Reading’s role in world wars, and deep dives into areas like Woodley and Tilehurst! And, of course, for those of you who might be looking for a new hobby or learn a new skill in the new year, there’s plenty of classes, workshops and activities for all ages, from instrument lessons and drama classes for kids and teens from The Rock Academy or Stageability to creative courses for adults at New Directions College and much more besides! And that’s just some of the stuff we know of as we write this! Even more spring events will have sprung up all over the site – and all over town – by the time you read this. And if you know of something happening in Reading that isn’t on the site, give the organisers a nudge and send them our way! Enjoy! Damien Passmore Web Editor – What’s On Reading
