SSWM REAL LOVE CELEBRATIONS

SALLY & DIANE PROPOSAL - 15 November 2017

Sally Cant and Diane More met through online dating initially followed by a rendezvous in a local café. It was a 20 minute window of oppor tunity that allowed them to initially meet. They had been talking for a for tnight before they met, as Sally travels a lot with her work. They were ver y attracted to each other and have since developed a beautiful, loving, suppor tive relationship. Di had suggested to Sal that if same sex marriage was ever passed she would propose to her. Sally, not thinking the law would change anytime soon, did not really take that comment seriously. On that auspicious day they were apar t when the news came through on 15 November at 10:00am. Sal sent Di a text wanting to meet for lunch so they could be together on this significant day. They were both feeling ver y emotional about the YES vote being successful. They didn’t realise how relieved they were until the news came through. After lunch Sal went to get her hair done and returned with a huge bunch of flowers for Di. They watched the stor y of the sur vey unfold on the news together, holding hands. They then went out into their haven – their vegie garden – and Di couldn’t let the significance of the day pass without proposing to Sal: “Sally will you marr y me?” Sally was quite shocked and surprised, but immediately said “Yes”. There were lots of tears, hugs and pure joy! They then let their respective children know by sending them a small impromptu film clip. After hearing from their children, close friends were notified next. Then facebook and instagram friends. Sally is a highly respected and long-time Celebrant, marrying thousands of couples over 24 years (and is the owner of a Celebrant training company) so her Instagram and Facebook pages went mad. Sal and Di have been overwhelmed with the love and suppor t of family and friends about their future marriage: “Although ver y annoyed and upset that it went to a vote – we felt incredibly suppor ted by our fellow Australians when the announcement was made. It helped validate our relationship and made us feel accepted and more confident about revealing how we felt about each other without fear of recrimination.”
