Introducing the New GEN-XR and PNP-70!
GEN-XR
PNP-70
The GEN-XR is our easiest to install reduced steering system. The GEN-XR allows for 0-100%, and anywhere in between, reduction to the steering. The steering effort can easily be adjusted on the fly by the dealer and locked in. The GEN-XR is a plug n play installation on the Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica only needing 3 wires to be soldered (ignition and CAN).
The Plug N Play 70 offers 70 functions for the Pacifica with a simple box that plugs into the OBD-II. The functions are controlled via a tablet. An option is available for Toyota but is not fully plug n play and thus requires tapping a few wires.

going to throw off the shackles of conformity and boldly venture into new and uncharted column territory. Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead! Because there is something more exciting than conference to discuss—and that’s the new QAP audit process. In the Jul–Sep 2018 edition of this magazine, Chuck Hardy devoted a significant amount of space to describing the new audit process. In late December of 2018, I’m proud to report that the NMEDA executive board approved a new contract that will transform the new audit process from concept to reality, starting this year. The contract we executed is with TI RADCO. As you may have read in the weekly Short Circuit email, RADCO was acquired by a company

AROUND THE INDUSTRY VMI Acquires Revability In December 2018, VMI signed a definitive agreement to acquire Revability, a division of specialty vehicle manufacturer REV Group, Inc. Revability designs and manufactures wheelchair accessible vehicles for commercial and personal use, giving VMI a more diversified product line to offer the mobility industry. New BraunAbility Product - Turny® Evo Seat BraunAbility announced in January that it was expanding its product offering to include an additional mobility transportation solution, the BraunAbility® Turny® Evo seat. The rotating seat lift creates an easier and safer way to get in and out of tall vehicles. MobilityWorks Receives Financial Investment to Support Expansion Strategy In September 2018, MobilityWorks announced that it has partnered with Flexpoint Ford, a Chicago-based private equity firm, with Flexpoint making a significant equity investment in the Company. Following the investment by Flexpoint Ford, MobilityWorks will continue to operate as an independent company led by its current management team, who will retain a significant ownership stake. The new partnership will accelerate MobilityWorks’ vision of “Accessibility for All” with additional capital for the Company’s ongoing expansion strategy.

I recently celebrated two years of employment with NMEDA. One thing I have gathered in that time is that these last few years have brought more significant and rapid change than the industry had seen in the previous decade or more. In one sense, as the “new” guy, this is all I’ve known of the auto mobility industry; it is normal to me. But in another sense, as I’ve visited with so many dealers, manufacturers and partners, I’ve learned that this disruption is anything but “normal,” at least historically. And I’ve come to understand just how disturbing and even unnerving these rapid changes have been to many of our members. I can’t stop these changes—no one can. There are market forces at work here, for better or worse, significantly stronger than any trade association.

be discussing two matters which I think are of existential importance to our industry: What is a dealer? What is a manufacturer? • As acquisitions and consolidations contribute to the blurring of the lines between dealer and manufacturer, I believe our association has to redefine our membership. I’ve visited with several board members and other association leaders about these concepts, and I’ve yet to find anyone who believes the status quo is adequate; in other words, we have to evolve. So the question becomes, what next? What are we going to actually do? In a healthy association, the board governs, and the executive & staff manage. The NEXT GENERATION Electronic Left Foot Accelerator
Technology Des igned to Help
The NEXT GENERATION of left foot accelerators has arrived. This paradigm shift in SAFETY now requires the driver to activate the left pedal prior to each use. In addition, a separate key is required to transfer function to the left accelerator pedal. There is no need to remove the device or engage a lockout system. The system always defaults to the right side accelerator pedal. This safety feature is important when other family members need to drive or when the vehicle is being moved by someone else such as a valet or service technician. Veigel has specifically designed the Electronic Left Foot Accelerator (ELFA) for safe frequent driver change with the upmost ease. We use only OEM proven circuits and accelerator pedals to ensure the highest quality and reliability of the entire system. If your mobility equipment dealer is concerned about installing left foot accelerators due to insurance or liability concerns, the Veigel ELFA may be the solution.

Let’s start with the Rule of 7. Essentially, the Rule of 7 is a marketing principle that states: prospects need to come across an offer at least 7 times before they really notice it and start to take

CHATTING WITH THE CEOs
By Katie McDonald
BraunAbility’s Staci Kroon & VMI’s Mark Shaughnessy discuss the state of the auto mobility industry.
The auto mobility industry is very unique. Part auto industry, part technology industry, part healthcare industry.... It’s no wonder that it experiences many changes at an often rapid pace. As we kick off 2019, it seems like a great time to check in with a few of the newest industry leaders to learn more about their experiences and hear their thoughts and predictions on some of the most intriguing topics facing the industry today. pumping along and getting things done at some perceived “normal” pace. The bottom line is NMEDA decisions are made by committees, and committees are made up of you, our members. Why am I saying this? Because we often are asked why NMEDA did this, or why NMEDA decided on that, and the truth is, all decisions are made by our members, through committees. I have not been with NMEDA as long as many of you, but I have seen that often our committees are made up of the same people. This is not a bad thing as most of our committee veterans understand the process, are passionate about helping NMEDA,
working life of over 30 years until I joined NMEDA. My first impression? How can you actually get anything done convening for only one hour, and meeting once a quarter or even monthly? If you look at a committee meeting monthly, that is a whopping 12 hours of time out of the year to get things done. Are you kidding me? When I worked in manufacturing, we had meetings, not committees, and we had meetings on top of meetings each week until whatever it is that needed to get done was done. So this slower pace of meeting once a month or quarter was new and foreign to me, but I adjusted. The key to successful committees, and a successful association, is understanding the roles of those involved. It is the committee’s job to oversee and govern the activities of
