EPHERA NERA The artist DIVA has created for FONTINI the EPHERA NERA, an organic creation which is a hybrid between bas-relief and lighting elements, almost a mutation of art-work into a lamp. Inspired by the sinuosity of Ephera, the unknown plant, EPHERA NERA is an acrylic painted luminous silhouette, decorated with Flat Backs Swarovski elements – in jet and jet hematite black-, built on a backlit aluminum board (180 cm x 80 cm). LLASS was founded in 1985 and is based in Silla, Valencia. The brand is known particularly for its bedrooms and dining furniture, as well as its pioneering innovative finishes that become soon trend setters. The use of best raw materials, the modern manufacturing processes associated to a respect for handcraft and tradition have led to a diversify production that covers all the spectrum of the classic style, from the classic-contemporary to the traditional. Spanish furniture foreign trade. 2012 report According to ESTACOM statistics, in 2012, Spanish furniture exports amounted to 1,389 million Euros, which represents an encouraging growth of +3.4%, if compared to last year’s results.

On the import side, figures indicate that at the end of 2012 Spain’s furniture imports decreased sharply by 14.0%, amounting to 1,951.7 million Euros. Import and export figures revealed that the deficit of the Spanish furniture trade balance amounts to 562 million Euros, while the import/export coverage ratio makes up 71.2%.

Over the 2012, encouraging results have been registered both in some African and Latin American emerging markets. Among African markets, Morocco ranks now 6th on the list of Spain’s main clients just behind 5 EU countries. Better performances have been registered in Equatorial Guinea (+17.7%) and Angola (+90.7%). Spain’s furniture exports have picked up also in some Latin American countries, such a as Venezuela (+179.1%), the Dominican Republic (+25.6%), Brazil (+99.1%) and Mexico (+7.7%), due to the growth of the real estate and hospitality sectors in these markets. Five countries of the MENA region –Morocco, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey and Qatar- appear among the top 25 major buyers of Spain’s furniture. Last year, exports to Saudi Arabia and UAE, in particular, increased by +32.4% and 17.6% respectively and better results have been registered for the first two months of 2013: Saudi Arabia + 102.4%, Turkey + 37.1%, UAE + 36.4% and Kuwait + 453.2%. Having increased its purchases by +37.9%, Russia confirms itself as a promising market for Spanish furnishing products, ranking now 7th among top importers from Spain. The presence in different markets and the growth in emerging ones are a strong evidence of the thriving international vocation of the Spanish furniture industry.

High-end, Spanish furnishing brand SOHER has recently completed work on the interior redesigned of the entire government offices of HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, governor of the cities of Jeddah and Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The company was commissioned to supply many custom-made pieces specifically designed for private offices, sitting rooms, reception and meeting rooms, in combination with pieces of the Belle Époque collection.
