The SALONE INTERNAZIONALE DEL MOBILE, held every April, remains the world’s most important design fair. It leads the way in furniture design, both from Italy and abroad, showcasing the innovations that will soon be shaping interiors across the globe. With an increasing presence, which is second only after Italy, Spain has been completing and enriching the Salone’s offer since 1996 with its diverse array of furnishing products, design items and styles. This year, the group of Spanish companies, which has made a contingent of 53 firms -the second largest after the host country-, has covered a surface of more than 6,400 sqm in the three style sectors –Classic, xLux, Design-, and in the Workplace3.0, which has run alongside. Rich in style and products, the offer has been more attractive than ever, including the most sophisticated haute décor and appealing traditional furniture, inspiring and stylish proposals for indoors and outdoors, innovative design items –fruit of the collaboration with internationally renowned designers-, lounge and contract products, new cutting-edge furniture for contemporary workspaces and public spaces. All products reflect the passionate and emotional approach of the Spanish furnishing and design industry that aims at meeting different tastes, needs, trends and even, why not, cultures. BOKÜ sofa. The sofa lies over a rigid wooden tatami that is supported by a metallic cubic structure. The wooden structure is provided with slots that allow the natural oxygenation of seat cushions. Inspired to Japanese culture and ceremonies, BOKÜ is a sofa for sharing moments with family and friends or to relax and, why not, sleep. The fabric chosen for this model is a straw fabric with natural pigments that recalls the original material of tatamis.
GOA chair. It’s a charming rocking chair that consists of a very simple mechanism: two lacquered metal rings that support a comfortable upholstered shell. Play with colours to adapt it to your taste or the surrounding space.

ASTORIA sofa & armchairs. Inspired by the mid-century designs, ASTORIA is a seating programme that features a refined timeless aesthetic made of soft lines and charming decorative elements, such as the deep-buttoned backrest and the classic-inspired legs, a reminiscence of those of the 17th century. It also relaunches the former corner sofa with armrests on both sides and is complemented by three different models of armchairs. The armchairs are also offered upholstered with new vintage leather by Mariano Farrugia with spectacular colours. Metal legs are also available for a more vibrant look.

AMALFI sofa. Visual balance and a clean lined design are the main features of the AMALFI sofa, whose structure rests over thin metal legs, finished chrome or moka. It has been manufactured with a special combination of foams and Legerfil Fiber that ensures great comfort as well as perfect recovery and total resistance. The AMALFI programme offers many modular possibilities and plenty of fabrics and leathers for a very personal look.
MURANO sofa. MURANO is an innovative model that combines the comfort of a relax sofa with a contemporary and trendy design. Maximum comfort in ensured by the electronic motion control mechanism and by the multi-position headrests with anti-fold effect. For its design the firm has paid a lot of attention to details, such as the contrasting thread stitching that is available in a choice of colours. The variety of sizes and modules offers great versatility while the wide range of fabrics and leathers makes it possible to adapt MURANO to different environments.

LAUREL & HARDY modular programme for living & dining rooms. It includes a wide choice of wall units, bookcases and low sideboards that gives a contemporary, stylish flair to spaces. Finishes include the natural montana oak veneers – or the options in fumé oak and the American walnut – that can be combined with refined lacquers available in different tones, glossy or matt.
LIFE bedroom collection. The LIFE bedroom catalogue has been extended with new models that stand out for their geometric volumes and dynamic lines. Furniture is finished in natural veneers (montana oak, fumé oak and a choice of beautiful American walnut veneers) that can also be combined with lacquers in different colours. To give a personal, distinctive touch, headboards are supplied wooden or upholstered with impressive textures and mouldings. EUROPA wardrobe collection. It’s an elegant, versatile collection of contemporary wardrobes and dressing rooms specifically designed to fit the space and storage needs of users. Available with integrated handles or with refined metal handles, wardrobes come in a variety of styles and sizes to create your own personal design. Finishes include the natural oak and cherry and precious lacquer colours, such as the trendy Grafito Champån, Matt White or the refined open pore Arena, among many others. Mirror doors are also available. The collection includes also a series of functional and beautiful fitted walk-in closets that help you create impeccable, organized dressing areas.
VALENTINA bedroom collection. The last creation of MONRABAL CHIRIVELLA features contemporary, clean lines and a lot of attention to detail. All the furniture is veneered in natural oak and cherry wood or lacquered in warm tones.

NOVOCUADRO reinvents decorative art. The Spanish firm has made a name for itself in the interior decoration market for its everevolving collections of original contemporary artworks created mainly by Spanish artists. The firm offers an exciting range of artworks that draws on different styles and themes in order to provide the market with unique wall art and the professionals of the interior design industry with all the backup they need. Techniques include oils, acrylics or watercolours, but the NOVOCUADRO’s catalogue offers also a rich choice of mixed works on canvas and wooden tables, engravings, lithographs, etc. Subjects are varied as well, ranging from abstract and figurative to landscape, cityscape and the street art.

The 13cm high feet, which are available in wood or metal, add visual lightness and make it appear as a simple sofa. DORIAN sofa-bed. Just a simple movement and the beautiful DORIAN sofa turns into a practical yet refined bed. The structure has been carefully studied to make the most of it: the high backrest features a diamond-shaped seam that enhances the beauty of the piece and makes it possible its double use as a headboard. Both sides are provided with USB port for lamps and devices. The generous arms are equipped with trays and can serve as bedside tables.

All the furniture is made of MDF high density boards, solid ash wood and chipboards surfaced in first quality ash wood. Pieces come lacquered with 4 coats over base and finished with 4 more coats. NANAME coat stand. Kodai Iwamoto. Inspired by the cut of bamboo, it represents the very moment when bamboo is being sliced with a sword and slips down into pieces. It features an aluminium column and steel base.
FOORK table. Victor Carrasco. Set of tables specifically designed to be combined creating different configurations in offices when extreme versatility is required. The round table top is a new addition that provides even more functionality. New separators made of steel sheet are also available.

This stackable, folding table features a structure made of high strength aluminium with a super light top board. POWER CONNECTOR. FITNICE® is a registered trademark from the Spanish company VERTISOL specialized in floor and wall coverings. Elegant and visually interesting, it offers three product lines: Fitnice Floor, Fitnice Wall and Fitnice Rugs. These products are visually different in the pattern of fabrics and colour combinations; however, they are technically very similar: the backing is 100% PVC and wear layer consists of flat woven polyester fibres coated in durable vinyl.
Polyscreen® collection. The most resistant Polyscreen® models are part of the Polyscreen collection and are ideal for external blinds thanks to the tough polyester, the same type of spinning that is used to make a wide range of products, from textile architecture structures to automobile safety belts. The fabrics in the collection can also be used as awnings, with no need for glass, maintaining natural ventilation and a view of the outside.

Final figures for 2016 indicate that Spain’s exports of furniture have increased by +11.1% over the previous year’s figures, amounting to 2,064 million euros at the end of the year. Rich in styles and ranges and with a unique emotional approach, Furniture from Spain has consolidated its presence in four EU countries: France, Portugal, Germany and the United Kingdom, which rank 1st to 4th among Spain’s major markets and concentrate almost 50.3% of total exports.

According to the most recent World Furniture Outlook 2017, released by CSIL (Centre for Industrial studies, Milan, Italy, March 2017), the major furniture importing countries are the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and France. Spain’s exports have increased in all major markets revealing Spain’s firms ability to maintain competitiveness in terms of quality/price ratio and to diversify their markets. Amounting to 85 million of euros, exports of Spanish products to Italy (+23.3%), the host country of the Salone, have registered encouraging increases for three years in a row, after years of negative results. The cisalpine country is now the 6th biggest partner of Spain with a market share of 4.1% over the total. Significant increases have also been registered in exports to America: the U.S.A. earned the 5th position in the ranking with imports of Spanish furniture growing by +18.4% to 98.2 million euros, while the Mexican market ranks now 9th, registering a slight increase (+0.8%) and totaling 60.6 million euros.
