Closing The Last Plantation... In Our Minds By Mark Sheehan “Resistance is Fertile.” - Andrea Brower It’s been said that the early missionaries to Hawaii came to do good and stayed to do well. They set the pattern for later arrivals who brought capital and schemes for wringing profits out of the islands. Seldom did they take time to understand the culture they were replacing. Stealth, deception and military force, along with an alien system of ownership, were just tools of the new tradecraft used to usurp the functional, eco-aware and sustainable agricultural system. The profit motive made it easy to calculate progress. Evidencing a literary trajectory that faithfully mirrors what has happened in the world of dirt and hands, water and seeds, western and native scholars have chronicled the tragic, longterm consequences of the western contact and conquest. Noel Kent’s book, Hawaii: Islands under the Influence, looks at the impacts of colonial and military forces. Lilikala Kame’Eleihiwa’s book, Native Land and Foreign Desires: Pehea La E Pono Ai? How Shall We Live in Harmony?, tells the story from a Hawaiian point of view. It shows how western imperialists imposed the idea of land tenure, disrupting a system that integrated spiritual, political and cultural elements and ultimately destroyed an entire society. Kauai activist Andrea Brower’s Ph.D. thesis entitled Hawai’i: GMO Ground Zero - Seeds of Occupation, Seeds of Possibility, picks up where Dr. Kame’Eleihiwa leaves off. An ethnographic study, her work reveals the callous, high-handed tactics of industrial agrochemical operations and the environmental damage seed companies caused on Kauai in the late 1990s, all the while privatizing profits and socializing costs.
Professor Brower’s thesis is that Monsanto et al. are just the latest and worst in the line of imperial actors who have expropriated Hawaii for their own heinous reasons. Christian indoctrination and a capitalist/colonial system of industrial agriculture destroyed the real Hawaii and poisoned paradise. Unfortunately, that model became what we knew and limited our ability to think clearly about the wiser and saner system it replaced. Even before Syngenta and Monsanto came calling, sugar farmers planted seeds of deception as the islands accepted the inevitable. And so a kingdom was lost, along with a way of life. But not forever. Exposure of the damage wrought by the latest rape of the land has fostered a resistance to the abuse of lands and water, that hasn’t been seen in decades. The costs of becoming this sugar-coated fortress go beyond toxic pesticides and unsustainable planting of GMO crops. What started with marches and demonstrations against pesticide drift, has spread to other issues including the desecration of mountain tops. The economy first generated by military invasion and then fed by the rape of the land, also spawned tourism and overdevelopment. Oahu traffic is now as thick as a Los Angeles freeway and has one of the highest urban densities in the world. Brower reminds us that the “capitalist state”

walks hand-in-hand with development to assist in the plan to pave paradise. Former Governor Neil Abercrombie once crowed, “seed companies don’t have to come to government seeking support; we’re going to them.” If there is a bright side in all of this, it is that change is coming. In Brower’s view, the seeds of occupation planted long ago ultimately resulted not only in useless, contaminating crops, but in what she terms the “seeds of possibility.” Islanders have begun to challenge both destructive land practices and political corruption. What Brower’s academic insights mean to those of us who live here is that we need no longer follow the plantation model and accept rule by financial elites. Resistance, in fact, liberates our imaginations, enabling us to envision more equitable and just ways of conducting our lives. We have been brainwashed by corporate leaders and their political lackeys, but now the Hawaiian revival along with the uprising across the islands is changing how we perceive what is possible. We don’t need to accept capitalism as the default economic model, nor allow foreign entities to destroy our environment and lives for their profits. Waking up to the fact that our natural environment is the greatest asset we have, means seeing the wisdom of sustainable and natural agriculture, development limits, and ethical representation. We’ve reached the limits of our growth. We now need a carrying capacity study, and we need to stop coddling corporations. The Power Of Love
I was surprised that none of our writers chose “Unleashing The Power Of Love” as the theme of their article this time. I suppose that means I am the chosen one! Actually, it’s pertinent and timely. The phrase “love conquers all” – with which we all are familiar – is attributed first to the ancient Roman poet Virgil of the Augustan period, predating the birth of Jesus When we look to love as the solution, we are on the right track. Love can benefit any situation or conflict. When we react with fear, threats and violence, we only dig ourselves into deeper holes, inflaming the situation and dragging ourselves into a state of resentment, hate and unforgiveness. It’s not always easy to take the high road, the path of love. And it’s not always clear what it looks like to come from a place of love. Lately we’ve been encouraged by political activists to “resist.” Why not send love and positive visualizations and prayers for a successful resolution, instead? Yes, activism is good – just remember to stay high-minded in messages on the signs you carry, and in the letters you write to your representatives. Perhaps we can “resist not evil,” as Jesus said, and make the path of non-resistance our strongest weapon. When we allow and choose love, trust in its power to benefit any situation, send it and then let it go, we can stay centered and balanced in our own light and wholeness. - Eric T. Richter, publisher

Tapping Into The Potential Of Your Unbridled Power
By Liah Howard While some people discover their purpose at a very young age, others uncover it later in life. Unfortunately, far too many drift aimlessly and never quite find their purpose. The universe always gives us signs indicating which direction to go in to develop our potential, but we must heed them. A recent discussion at a dinner with friends reminded me that life is too short to not live in the fullness of your powerful potential. As part of the after-dinner conversation, I asked one fellow named Joe how his work was going. He shared that his financial planning business was extremely lucrative and that he was considering retiring in the next year or two. He then said with a bit of sadness that he had always wanted to write a book but never has. As a psychic, I can’t help but to read between the lines and see and hear the unspoken truths. At that moment, I saw over Joe’s left shoulder a spirit guide waiting to connect with him. Next, in my mind’s eye I saw Joe holding a book he had written; on the front cover was an exciting picture of space. “Have you ever considered writing a science fiction novel?” I w asked. Joe lifted his head and looked at me in disbelief. “I can’t believe you just said that. When I was young that was my favorite thing to read.” Shaking his head, he went on to say, “I have been attempting to write an autobiography for years and it is going very, very slowly.” “Perhaps you are meant to express who you are through the creative writing process instead of through documenting all the details of your life,” I said. Joe’s energy field shifted significantly, as though a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders. His face looked lighter and happier. He then went on to share that, although he knew from a young age that writing was a gift he had, he simply couldn’t access it easily. He had an astrology reading when he was 20 that aligned his writing skills with planetary influences. But even with this gift, he said writing felt like work and was hard. We chatted for a bit and I found out that his family background includes a number of political and historical dignitaries and non-fiction writers. That is when I understood his block to writing. He was writing the autobiography to fulfill an old family unspoken expectation, rather than to enhance his life and bring delight. This took all the fun and creativity out of the writing. The book had become a duty rather than a joy, and he felt like a failure. His wife leaned in a little closer to join the conversation. She noticed her husband lighting up with gladness as we discussed the possibility of him writing for pleasure, rather than completing the autobiography that he felt compelled to write. She smiled and supported him in this new and exciting novel-writing endeavor. Moving in a new direction takes courage and you have to trust yourself. Joe is lucky that he has someone who supports the change. I left feeling hopeful that by opening to his writing gift and calling on his writing guide to help him, Joe will bring forth a novel that feeds his soul and inspires humanity. Transforming Our Primal Forces By Alan Clements The future of civilization is linked to our ability to overcome the forces of ignorance, both internal and external. Despite the fact that we are handicapped by biological constraints – brains hardwired to prompt irrationality, rage and violence – we must challenge our most primitive urges. Genetically (and psychically) passed on to us through ancestry, these reptilian ‘upsurges’ are effectively obsolete. It is crucial that we do all we can to limit their eruption within the psyche and their spillover into the world. We must learn the wisdom of transforming these primal forces, and hope that in time we overcome and outgrow these traits so that they can gradually disappear from the collective gene pool and leave the template of consciousness altogether. Of course, deprogramming the mind of hostility and irrationality, and reconfiguring it toward kindness and tolerance, is an ancient ideal. Today, such ambitions are no longer confined to spiritual, philosophical and psychological circles. Our most recent history has shown us how just a few people with hostile fantasies can rain hell down on the multitude. The need to identify the forces giving rise to every form of human and environmental degradation has never been greater. Look at it this way. Each of us is essentially a gorgeous mystery with a wild heart and a lofty purpose. But within each of us, without exception, the psyche harbors a segment of the world’s psychosis – an inner theater of repressed symbols injected with primordial hatreds, enervating
wounds, and undiscovered powers. The ‘great unconscious’ has been known by many names: darkness, the devil, evil, stupidity. Some call it Donald Trump. Others call it the war-fear-greed machine. Carl Jung called it “the human shadow” – those emotional traits that we despise, disown and repress, and that live buried in the darkness of our subconscious minds, safe from our judgments. As Maui County’s primary safety net for hunger relief, Maui Food Bank has continuously and consistently expanded food banking services for the residents of Maui County for 20 years. Doreen Virtue Shares About Her New Life And Journey With Jesus On Maui Source TV Show
By Lisa Jones On my first assignment as the new co-host for Maui Source TV, we interviewed famed mystic and author Doreen Virtue at her Big Island ranch. She shared she has been “born again” and is now distancing herself from some of her extensive published works not directly associated with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and Angels. Making Change Your Friend
By Paul O’Brien We live in a time of accelerating change and uncertainty, which can feel chaotic and threatening. Animals, including us humans, have an instinctive tendency to automatically react to sudden changes as threats. Throughout most of humanity’s existence, life-threatening dangers were prominent and a hair-trigger reactivity served to protect us in a world that included saber-toothed predators. We humans haven’t changed much biologically in the last hundred thousand years. Our nervous systems are still wired to fight, flee, or freeze at a moment’s notice. When triggered by fear or anxiety, we often react as though we are face-to-face with real danger even if there is none. This may be an automatic way of operating, but it is not the only way. We can learn to intervene with a beam of conscious awareness and interrupt automatic reactions. We can train our tricky brains to go beyond fight-or-flight. The situations we face nowadays rarely, if ever, involve lifeor-death stakes or require splitsecond decisions. In the absence of life-threatening danger, we are free to become more creative and develop potentials that go beyond ensuring survival. Rather than feeling threatened, we can come to regard change as a friendly force. “Change is my friend,” is a visionary belief that I promote in the Belief Engineering chapter of the book, Great Decisions, Perfect Timing. People who see change as a positive force are more optimistic and can enjoy the up-and-down flux of life. In order to embrace change, we need to develop a more fluid relationship to time. People who fear change essentially want time to stand still. Their subconscious wish is for the illusory safety of a fixed and stable universe. The mechanical division of time into hours, minutes, and seconds – brought about by the recent invention of clocks – clogs the spontaneous flow of life energy. In order to fully relax, visionaries find ways to free their minds from the domination of linear time. They understand the value of “time outs” to intentionally loosen such domination by society’s over-controlling mechanical approach. This is good, but in actuality, there is nothing to escape, because if we take our eyes off the clock, our experience of time can have a natural plasticity. When we enjoy life, time seems to fly. When we are resistant to circumstances, it seems to crawl. As so many great teachers have shown, the secret of joyful living is to maintain awareness of what is happening in the one time that is real – the present moment – and forget about future and past. To improve our strategic thinking and decision-making, we need to let go of trying to control things long enough to give our intuition a chance to turn on and tune in. Visionary decision-makers know that life is always in flux. The ultimate solution to “time management” is to develop a lifestyle where we are able to transcend the measuring and parceling of time, and strengthen an intuitive sense of timing. Good timing, a fundamental component of strategic decisions, is the secret of surfing unpredictable waves of change without losing your balance. When we come to regard change as a friendly force, the success brought about by an improving sense of timing will provide encouragement to cultivate intuitive intelligence all the more … and life becomes a fascinating adventure rather than a defensive hunkering down. We introverts are a quiet bunch, often made to feel like we don’t fit in because we aren’t boisterous or overly outgoing. Unlike extroverts who gain energy from being around others, introverts feel drained when they are around people for too long. Knowing that, introverts should honor their personal limits and not push themselves beyond their comfort zone when possible. Below are six tips for self-care: If you know you have a stressful event coming up, remember that stress depletes you. Arrange to have a lot of downtime the following day to give yourself a chance to recharge. Enter blocks of time for rest and relaxation on your calendar, as you would with any other appointment. Don’t feel badly when you can’t keep the same kind of busy-but-fun schedule that extroverts can. Their nervous systems thrive on that constant activity. Don’t feel guilty for wanting and choosing solitude. It’s okay to turn down an invitation to go out just so you can sit on the couch and read a book. Start practicing meditation and yoga if you aren’t already – these are great ways to quiet the mind. We tend to overthink and get stuck in our own head, and these practices can counteract that. Instill firm boundaries and start getting comfortable saying no. Your time is precious. Use it to do things that nourish you, and let go of doing things out of obligation or guilt. When you feel yourself getting overwhelmed in a crowded situation, imagine you have a protective white light around you keeping you safe. Healing Through Watsu
By Brenda Martin We all know how powerful water is as an element. It can carve out a path in rocks to form tiny babbling brooks or deep valleys as large as the Grand Canyon! Have you ever considered what power water may have to heal you? Our magnificent bodies are formed in water. We float in our mothers’ bodies until it is time for us to breathe air on our own. I believe we carry the memory of that sensation of floating. The first thing many of us do when we get into a body of water, is to lie on our back to float. I believe a Watsu session taps in to that cellular memory. It brings us back to that original sensation of feeling totally free to just be. A Watsu session creates an opportunity where we can just let go and release tension of the mind, body and spirit into the water. As a certified Watsu practitioner, I have had the privilege of floating many people in my pool. My greatest joy is in watching the transformation that takes place in their bodies and on their faces as the tension is given over to the water. It is truly an honor. It has opened my heart in ways only a session can truly convey. Use The Goldilocks Principle
By Cathleen McCandless There’s a growing body of scientific evidence by cellular biologists, physicists and environmental psychologists that proves what feng shui has known for over 5,000 years -- that your environment deeply affects the quality of your life. Feng shui is an ancient environmental system that helps you identify features in your living and working spaces that contribute to your wellbeing or to your detriment. Feng shui is not a belief system, a religion or a form of ‘luck.’ Feng shui is simply the study of the environment and how it affects people. You can easily implement basic feng shui principles in your home or business by using what I call the ‘Goldilocks principle.’ Goldilocks knew anything that was too hot, too cold, too hard, too soft, too anything, just wasn’t right. You can use the Goldilocks principle in any room of your home that you don’t particularly like. Simply describe the room by finishing this sentence: “This room is too ______.” The opposite of the word you used to fill in the blank tells you what needs to be addressed and changed. For example, if you think a room is too dark, then this tells you that you need to adjust the décor of the room to bring in more light. Adding light-colored furnishings and paint, mirrors, and brighter light fixtures will all make the room feel lighter. If you think a room is too cluttered, it’s time to organize it. Too small? Choose furniture that fits the scale of the room; and so on. Once you experience the power of feng shui in your home, you’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll feel in your space and, as a result, in your life. Unleashing The Power Of Hypnosis By Barbara Ensign At a very young age I became fearful of needles due to a family doctor who thought it was funny to let go of the needle while giving me or my siblings a shot, letting the needle hang while in our arms. For over 50 years I carried that fear within me. Power Of Deep Tissue Massage
By John Gelert, LMT With most types of massage, such as Swedish, the therapist uses the hands for light, quick, repetitive, relaxing strokes. Deep tissue massage, however, is known for slower and more powerful strokes; the therapist uses the forearms, elbows, fists or knuckles to penetrate through surface muscles to relax tension in deeper muscles. Hot stones or massage sticks can help. While massage therapists cannot claim to cure medical conditions, deep tissue massage has numerous health benefits. Deep tissue massage is beneficial for those who experience stress, anxiety and tension. It dilates blood vessels, lowers limbic system activity, and regulates the autonomic nervous system. Also, it releases oxytocin and serotonin to boost mood and relaxation. For athletes, deep tissue sports massage improves athletic recovery and performance by delaying muscle soreness and fatigue, and preventing and treating injuries. Also, it breaks up newly formed scar tissue following injuries to make recovery easier with less stiffness. Deep tissue massage treats chronic back pain much more effectively than therapeutic massage, using a combination of lengthening and crossfiber strokes. Other benefits are that it reduces arthritis symptoms including joint pain, stiffness, and limited range of motion; lowers high blood pressure; and reduces cortisol and heart rate. In addition, deep tissue massage therapy can improve carpal tunnel, constipation, depression, frozen shoulder, headaches, bursitis, insomnia, IT band syndrome, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, scoliosis, shin splints, and TMJ syndrome. A trained deep tissue massage therapist can apply the right pressure and move slowly with the flow, to not cause any pain. Deep tissue massage should not hurt. You may feel a ‘good pain’ – an equal amount of pain and pleasure – but only while the tension is releasing. A good deep tissue massage feels deeply relaxing. By Michelle DeStefano, C.Ht. “What determines the frequency and number of hypnosis sessions needed to resolve a problem?” - CL Jones, W.V. The answer to this varies. I will answer from my point of view, drawing on my 20 years of experience helping people resolve problems. One thing to consider is the length of time a person has been dealing with a problem or habit. The longer it has been there, the more attention it will require to resolve it. Another important question to ask is, what is the underlying problem that needs resolution? For instance, if someone wants to stop smoking, one session can produce this result 30% of the time. However, if this person smokes due to stress, and we stop the smoking without resolving the stress, then in order to manage the stress they will most likely begin smoking again soon after the session (within a year) or pick up another unhealthy habit such as overeating. Unless we resolve the core issue of stress, their coping with it will be like the “Whac-A-Mole” game -- where one unhealthy habit is ‘addressed,’ only to be followed by another unhealthy habit popping up in order to cope with the stress that never was resolved. With that in mind, resolving the root cause of an unhealthy habit or resolving an issue, can take three to nine sessions; usually, three. Consistency of sessions is important, so once per week for the first three sessions is recommended to keep the momentum of healing going. After that, sessions can be spaced out depending on the individual and how they are responding. Of course, this is a general answer and each individual’s needs will vary.

Healing Your Core Issues By Douglas J. Price, D.C. It is important that we maintain a healthy emotional core. Toxic emotional core issues arising from unanticipated traumas we have experienced, can cause us to feel powerless and cut us off from being able to access our inner wisdom, love and power. When unexpected traumatic events – which get stored in the psyche – resurface, it can and will derail us. For example, we may be hung up on making mistakes because of those we have made in the past, which can cause self-doubt and prevent us from trusting our own wisdom. Many times this will result in a stiff neck and/or headache. Another example is if someone cheated on us or betrayed us in some way in a love relationship, and we recorded this experience in our psyche as a shock, this can make us so cautious in the next relationship that we prefer to be fearful of that relationship rather than to open ourselves up to being loved. This scenario can cause heart palpitations, and also lead to high blood pressure and high cholesterol. As a final example, we may suddenly feel too tired in the face of a potential new relationship because we may think we have “gambled on the wrong horse” and do not like what came out of the “horse’s mouth.” This may result in the adrenals getting overly taxed, causing knee or spinal pain because our adrenals support our ligaments of major joints. Becoming A Whole, United Self
By Sara Schroepfer The term selfish is used to describe a person who is out for themselves. What I wonder is, how did the word self, followed by the suffix ish, come to mean something bad? Why is it that tending to the self carries a negative connotation? From a shamanic perspective, there are four aspects of the self to tend to: the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual that we journey through to fully unleash the power of Self. Working with the medicine wheel to represent the four selves, we start our journey in the south, which represents the physical self. Here, we tend to day-to-day and literal details of life. We shed our past in the south and stories that once defined us. In the west, we honor the emotional aspect of our self and catch a glimpse of our destiny. In the direction of the setting sun, we begin to let our old self die so that we can experience rebirth. Like a hummingbird, in the north we drink the sweet nectar of life. Deeply Surrendering
By Rhonda Felix I am always interested to see how the dictionary defines the words we so often use. The word unleash is one we seem to use to reference some kind of change. Collins English Dictionary defines unleash in two ways. The first is, “to release from or as if from a leash.” This first definition refers to taking an animal off a leash. It might also be appropriate in reference to a person freeing themselves from a situation that allowed them to move only within a certain parameter – such as a job, relationship or place of residence. The second definition – “to free from restraint or control”– speaks to me even more. I understand this to be the unleashing that comes from that deep place within us once we have given up, surrendered. This experience of surrender – to feel the winds of change move through our body and our Soul – is very potent. I have felt this wind at times when I have reached the place of deep surrender and asked for help. When we ask, help is always given. And it is given in ways much greater than anything we could have ever imagined. The trick is that we must be willing to give up the concept that we know what this ‘help’ will look like. We can limit the form of this ‘help’ by putting a box of knowing around it. I love the power that comes when I am able to let go, unleash new ideas, and unleash the heart’s desire that has been buried under old belief systems. Choose Joy Over Pain
By Joe Swartz, MD Pain is in the eye of the beholder. We have a choice as to how we experience pain. If we choose to believe that the pain is a punishment from God for our sin, then we will experience pain in that context. But, if we choose to believe that the pain is a blessing from God and that it is a teacher, then we will have a completely different experience of the pain. When we cannot change what is on the plate before us, our only option is to choose the attitude with which we meet what’s on our plate (what is). If we can just allow it to be without pushing away the experience, therein lies the miracle of its healing. When we have chronic pain on the plate in front of us, we are not going to be happy because we do not like what is. We have a grievance against the pain. But the harder we push against the experience, the more powerful it becomes. When we can allow what is (and we don’t have any choice about what is, because it already is), we can go into the experience and find the miracle behind the grievance. A Course in Miracles promises us that there is a miracle behind every grievance. In the end, we find the miracle by surrendering the grievance to the now. The grievance obstructs the miracle that is present. So, the miracle is hidden in the experience of the pain. Surrender your grievance, and you will find the miracle. Choose the joy of God, rather than pain.

As an adjunct professor of business with a specialty in online marketing, part of my job is to stay current with the latest research and technologies. When I work with heart-centered businesses, I try to implement these strategies to the extent that it is reasonable and ‘doable’ within their budget and abilities. The Healing Power Of Sound By Heather Salmon “First there was the word” (John 1:1). In the Hindu tradition it is also believed that all of creation is sound, and that if we attune to the creative spirit we would hear the root sound of creation -- the sound of “Aum” or “Om.” Sound, in and of itself, has an inherent transformative power. Bringing Scalar Healing To The People Of Hawaii
By Tom Paladino Scalar energy is the fundamental life force found everywhere in the world, space and universe. It originates from the sun and stars. Chi, prana, OM, mana, life force, pyramid energy or zero-point energy are synonymous terms for scalar energy. I began research with scalar energy during my undergraduate years. Inspired by various scientists, especially Nikola Tesla (a genius who invented alternating current), I was curious to learn more about the existence of an energy that was not of the electromagnetic spectrum. I pursued a course of independent study in order to better understand and subsequently harness scalar energy, as this emerging science is not taught at the university level. One of my scientific predecessors was T. Galen Hieronymus, a resident of Georgia and one of the few scalar energy researchers in the United States in the last century. I read Galen’s notes and used his instruments after his death. Some of Galen’s inventions, according to a 1977 magazine article, were “quasielectronic instruments that could (a) analyze the component elements of an ore sample without spectroscopic, chemical or other orthodox methods, and, most surprising of all, (b) influence (even kill) living organisms, even from vast distances, with no scientifically understandable mechanism at the other end.” I theorized that all energy in the universe initiates as scalar energy; and that the sun of our solar system and the stars of the universe are the points of origin, “the storehouses,” for scalar energy. I further theorized that scalar energy is instructive energy, as the entire universe is instructed by this Divine Essence. Subsequently, all spiritual, cognitive, emotional and physical action in the universe is initiated and maintained by scalar energy instructions. Scalar energy provides order in the universe. Based on these theories and the work of scientists who came before me, I was able to develop scalar energy instruments capable of harnessing and transmitting instructive energy to heal human subjects remotely.

You can think of this as similar to a radio broadcast with my instruments as the broadcaster, and your body as the receiver. The difference is that the energy transmitted is not electromagnetic, and is therefore immeasurable by traditional science. My instruments provide a remote, fast, harmless and painless treatment process that has successfully healed patients with HIV/AIDS, Ebola, herpes, hepatitis, Lyme disease, and over 400,000 pathogens that cause disease. They administer the scalar energy reverse-phase angle harmonic of a pathogen, thereby causing that agent of infection to disassemble or fall apart. Bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoan, can all be disassembled, representing a cure for thousands of diseases. Once the causative agent of a pathogen disease has been eliminated, the symptoms associated with that infection decrease or disappear altogether. Lab experiments were conducted in 2015 that served to prove that my scalar energy pathogen cleanse disassembles and subsequently destroys micro-organisms at a distance by way of a photograph. An independent, out-of-state laboratory submitted magnified photographs of various species of living protozoan to me to be treated by way of the scalar energy instrument. Four experiments were conducted in which various species of Paramecium, Volvox, Amoeba, Euglena and Stentor were treated with scalar energy, resulting in these protozoa being disassembled and subsequently destroyed. The Influence Of Karma
By Rich Ralston Karma refers to the spiritual principle of cause and effect, where an individual’s intent and actions (cause) influence that individual’s future (effect). In other words, what you do affects you and others. For instance, the act of taking from someone else an object that does not belong to you can have serious consequences if done with greed or ill intent. Keep in mind that every object has its own energy field associated with it. As an example, rose quartz energy stabilizes the heart chakra and can be used for healing. This is the normal intent of the stone. However, when a person obtains this stone by stealing it, over time the selfish intent of the thief will reverse the original intent of the stone. The act of stealing overrides the stone’s healing properties. This is karma. I am always amazed when people steal jewelry and think that it will bring them good luck or attract others to them. Another way of creating negative karma is by using up other people’s time and energy to tell them all your problems, and then expecting them to solve your problems. You are responsible for your own actions. By not taking responsibility for your own actions, you become an energy vampire to other people. If you need advice from others, then simply ask for it and take it. On the flip side, if you are naturally prone to helping others, you might consider learning to set boundaries as to what you will do. Otherwise, you can become a victim of an energy vampire. Make a habit of cultivating a neutral and compassionate mind as you encounter your human experience, and you will discover an incredible power that has always been yours. Tiny Homes Gaining Momentum
By Bruce Douglas Good news! Tiny homes on wheels are legal in Maui County, with some limitations. Maui Councilwoman Elle Cochran’s office is working on legislation to remove some of the limitations by adding a special definition for “tiny homes on wheels” to the zoning code, to allow for more density of these homes in certain areas. She needs our support. Here is an update from Elle’s office on current tiny house rules in Maui County. 1. Tiny homes on wheels (not a foundation) do not need a building permit if they are not hooked up to any county infrastructure (water, sewer, electric). If it is an independently functioning unit with composting toilet, solar, etc., a building permit is not required. 2. Tiny houses on wheels do count as dwelling units though, and are subject to zoning restrictions. That means you can park a tiny home in the yard of a private property if the property legally allows for an ohana unit. You can ask for exemptions to zoning regulations if you want to have a small cluster of tiny houses on wheels, by applying for a conditional use permit or by using Hawaii State Statute 46-15: The Experimental and Demonstration Housing Law. Furthermore, the Building Department will not require a building permit if the tiny home is a legally registered trailer with current safety tag, distinguishing it as a vehicle. The Plumbing Department will allow you to connect water via garden hose, but not to a sewer or septic system without permit. The Electrical Department will allow temporary extension cords to charge your batteries, but will not allow permanent extension cords. Align Your Goals With Values
By Mary Albitz When your intentions are being fulfilled, how do you feel? When I accomplish my goals that are fueled by my intentions, I feel extremely happy and fulfilled. But how do you know when you have accomplished your goals? You may feel fulfilled even though you haven’t accomplished your goals, but I surmise that you would feel an even greater level of satisfaction if you did accomplish your goals. As a business coach, I coach with spirit and I am a stickler for SMART goals. I love SMART goals because it is crystal clear when they are accomplished. There is a key difference in how I define SMART goals, compared to how you may have heard elsewhere. Here is my version of SMART goals: S = Specific; M = Measurable; A = Aligned with my values; R = Realistic; T = Timebound. Many of us have learned that the “A” represents Actionable or Achievable. I propose that the “A” stands for “Aligned with my values.” This is an important piece of the goal puzzle. Are your goals aligned with your values? Can you think of a time when they weren’t -- perhaps when a goal felt more like someone else’s goal than your own? How often have you accomplished a goal that was not aligned with your values, and how did you feel accomplishing such a goal? Last year I accomplished all of my goals except for one – getting to a certain body weight by the end of the year.
