Kingdom Of Hawaii Plans Revival In 2024 By Eric T. Richter In 1795, King Kamehameha the Great united all four major Hawaiian Islands and formed a sovereign state called the Kingdom of Hawaii. Over time, the rest of the minor islands in Hawaii joined voluntarily, with two major families forming the rulers, the House of Kamehameha and the House of Kalakaua. Winning recognition from the major European powers, eventually the United States friendship began and the U.S. emerged as Kingdom of Hawaii’s chief trading partner. Under the Monroe Doctrine, the U.S. defended the Kingdom of Hawaii from intervention by other foreign powers, including Britain and Japan. The friendly relationship began to erode when a constitution favorable to the United States and limiting the monarchy’s power was hoisted on King Kalakaua in 1887. In 1891, Queen Lili’uokalani tried to change the new constitution but failed and eventually was overthrown in 1893 by an independent multi-national group of foreign nationals called the Committee of Safety, who advocated the annexation of the Kingdom of Hawaii to the United States. The land was then annexed by the United States in 1898, under the protest of Queen Lili’uokalani, who was held prisoner in Iolani Palace in Honolulu. The Kingdom of Hawaii (occupying the same lands) never recognized the newly formed Territory of Hawaii under U.S. control. The United States ignored petitions signed by local residents in protest. Fast forward to 1993, the Apology Resolution, passed into U.S. public law and signed by President Clinton, acknowledged that the “ overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii occurred with the active participation of agents and citizens of the United States and further acknowledges that the Native Hawaiian people never directly relinquished to the United States their claims to their inherent sovereignty as a people over their national lands, either through the Kingdom of Hawaii or through a plebiscite or referendum.” Back up three years to 1990, and Akahi Nui was working as a construction worker on Maui, smoking three packs of cigarettes a day and drinking beer in his time off. Out of the blue he received what felt like a divine revelation. The Voice said, “You must reclaim the islands!” Mystified, he did not have a clue or understand what this meant.. Through a series of serendipitous events, he discovered that his grandmother was Elizabeth Halimano,sister to Queen Lili’uokalani (last monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii) and also served as the governor of Maui back in the day. So, Akahi Nui learned he was a direct descendent and of royal blood of the Akahi lineage.

The soon-to-be King Akahi Nui met the Queen before the royal ties were revealed, throwing cigarettes to her and her friends in the park out of his car window in his former life. With divine guidance and a lot of hard work, the Two revived the Kingdom. They held a coronation ceremony at Iolani Palace in Honolulu in 1998 with none other than the Dalai Lama and dignitaries from around the world in attendance. After a long and arduous journey, His Royal Majesty and Her Royal Majesty survived the indignities of multiple arrests and beatings by the State of Hawaii and statewide law enforcement, only to be released without charges each time from incarceration, with apologies. What about the Kingdom of Hawaii now? Many sovereignty groups are vying for recognition as Kingdom of Hawaii offshoots. But His and Her Majesties’ Kingdom appears to be the strongest, with ties reestablished internationally with many nations from before the overthrow. After a period of relative dormancy, the Kingdom of Hawaii trust is now reinvigorating itself and attracting a new group of people to assume leadership positions. Who is my True Self? Who Am I? It is important to check within from time to time, because it seems we all go through stages in life where who we are takes on new roles, and a new Identity. Well-known author Wayne Dyer, I believe, got it right when he created the movie “Ambition To Meaning” which detailed his personal transformation from a successful career, making money and doing things, to in his later years, cherishing and finding meaning in his relationship with God. Personally, I thought I was “all that” when I wrote an essay on finding the Triune Nature of God within. The essay detailed spiritual practices to nourish God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and our personal Christ Nature’s presence within us. Then I searched online for what others thought about this Trinity I observed about God’s nature in us, as us. I got a mighty chuckle when I realized that Catholics baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It’s a Sacrament, and a divine blessing of the Trinity’s presence within us. Dealing With Issues Of Not Being Enough By Rhonda J. Felix Many of you know that I am a major advocate for foster children. As a Godsend, Grace Bible Church has created a non-profit organization with 501c3 tax status called “For the Family.” Under For the Family I can create and facilitate groups to help foster children deal with their issues with grief and more. When they are removed by the State of Hawaii from their homes for their protection, children suffer a variety of losses, not just their family of origin, but also their friends, favorite books and toys, and pretty much life as they have known it. Interestingly enough, as I work with these children, I recognize all the issues of not being enough are the same issues confronting adults who have not had the opportunity to heal some of their own childhood trauma. (Foster children do not have the cornerstone for trauma and grief.) The goal is for all people experiencing trauma to learn they are “wanted and enough” and to know that their lives have a purpose, and that they matter. We work with children aged 7 through 12. While the children are in group, their resource caregivers (adoptive parent, legal guardian or any other adult that is involved in their daily lives) are invited to attend a separate, simultaneous group that supports the adults in understanding and supporting behaviors that these children exhibit because they feel like they are not good enough. Along with working with foster children, I have reignited my former role and am re-embracing teaching the healing work of Louise L. Hay, espoused in her book, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life. As of now, I am the middle of my first group and will be hosting one this coming spring, with exact time, place and dates announced soon. As Louise Hay said, “The thoughts we choose to think are the tools we use to paint the canvas of our lives.” For the Family will be hosting a support group for foster children and their caregivers starting January 5, 2024, at Grace Bible Church. The most exciting product line under development, Kingdom Treats, will market chocolates and sweets with the “Kingdom Treats” label and distributed through convenience stores and supermarkets throughout Hawaii. All will bear the “Kingdom Treats” brand and carry the message that the Kingdom of Hawaii is alive and well. With the slogan, “A Taste of Aloha In Every Bite!” they will be a sure hit with tourists and locals alike, who would love to support the Kingdom. Loftier goals include revival of the Hawaiian currency, the reconstruction of the Kamehameha 1 Palace in Lahaina, opening Kingdom of Hawaii gift shops, free music and food social events, a monthly publication and partnering with a national gaming company to open the King David Kalakaua Casino on Oahu, with a low-cost buffet, free hula shows and gambling. Finding Hope And Meaning
By Paulo O’Brien As I grow older, anxieties about aging are worsened by overwhelming global problems like the threats to democracy and what’s called “eco-anxiety.” The fear that human life is extinguishing itself – through shortsighted greed, addiction to magical thinking, and choosing short-term convenience over long-term survival – is hard to shake. Since I personally can do little to mitigate planetary problems, I am left with a dilemma: what can I do to balance right action with a bit of happiness and peace of mind? How can I inject hope and a greater sense of meaning into the remainder of my lifetime? One thing I have come up with is to take refuge in my belief in reincarnation. That’s right, reincarnation – a concept embedded in religious and philosophical traditions, which postulates that one’s soul, after death, returns in another form (until we ‘graduate’ from this reform school). The cycle of birth, death, and rebirth then continues until we attain a high level of understanding or ‘enlightenment.’ While specifics around reincarnation theory differ slightly among cultures, a core principle is consistent. Existence does not end with death, which is just a transition. Letting go of the fear that death marks some kind of last judgment day (often after a lifetime of judging and being judged) is a cause for hope, no matter how imperfect we will still be when we let go of this lifetime. If one accepts that death is a portal, rather than a final ending, fear of the unknown diminishes. This perspective can bring comfort to those nearing the end of their lives or grieving the loss of loved ones. They find solace in the idea that they will be reunited and also that they will get a chance to be reborn in order to fulfill their highest destiny. Reincarnation also supports a sense of meaning and purpose in the sense that life is a series of learning experiences that never end. This view
encourages us to embrace life’s challenges as lessons to be learned, promoting resilience and adaptability and the accumulation of good karma through ethical living. Mistakes or setbacks are seen not as failures, but as opportunities for growth and the accumulation of merit in this lifetime or the next Many traditions that uphold the concept of reincarnation embrace this law of karma, where actions in one’s current life influence future lives. This belief instills a sense of responsibility and pro-social behavior. People are more likely to engage in good deeds and avoid negative actions, by anticipating the consequences they will inevitably have to face – in this lifetime or the next. This belief renders all our decisions, even small ones, more meaningful. Furthermore, a quest for enlightenment (liberation from the cycle of rebirth) can motivate individuals to invest in self-improvement. This might manifest as spiritual practices, meditation, education, or personal reflection. Such endeavors not only enhance individual wellbeing but positively influence one’s community. Past life regression therapy, though controversial, has helped some individuals address unresolved issues and traumas. Whether the experiences recalled are genuine past lives or symbolic narratives, many have found healing and closure through this treatment. In conclusion, the underlying principles of a belief in reincarnation offer strong benefits that can enhance personal wellbeing and promote a more harmonious community. By encouraging ethical living, fostering connections, and emphasizing continual growth, belief in reincarnation can offer hope while serving as a profound tool for individual and collective transformation. “So Hum”
By Sara Schroepfer The journey into one’s Self is complex and rewarding. Life takes us through trials and tribulations, expansion and contraction, to a place beyond limitation. Diving deep into my spiritual path in my 20s, I stumbled into an urban ashram where Swami Jaidev Bharati was the spiritual director. Instantly he became my greatest teacher. In a lecture, he asked us to close our eyes and ask ourselves, Who Am I? I thought, I am a daughter, girlfriend, boss, friend, yogini. I stepped in and out of these roles daily, depending on the situation. But is that who I was? Or was I something more… or less? I played with, I am joy, peace, Santosha (Sanskrit for serenity). This felt closer. We then shared with the person next to us. What I shared was, “I am…” and then nothing! No thing. In my being, I saw only vastness: the void and the connection. “I just am,” I said.Swami Jaidev shared the Sanskrit mantra, So Hum, which translates as, I am that; that I am. We identify with roles we step into, but those roles are not who we are. Shedding our identity and form strips us to the core of who we are, where we find our essence. In the present, there is no identity. We are infinite beings in a finite physical body, over-identifying with a stage in life. If this were suddenly stripped away, would you know who you were? Would it be a role? Or is it about who you are being in the moment? We find out who we are when we stop trying to define it, when we let go of our constructions and see ourselves exactly as we are, as we always have been, and who we will always be: infinite beings connected in an energetic matrix of light and love. Various Roles Led Me To Who I Truly Am By Lydee Ritchie, LMFT, LLC The winter season brings a powerful time for endings and beginnings. Who was I? At various times, I was a professional singer, journalist, publicist and drug counselor. Who am I today? My roles include a marriage and family therapist, author, yoga teacher, sound healer, crystal energy practitioner and a mother to many returning teachers. But who am I really? Who Am I Really?
By Bruce Robert Travis How is it possible to find our true self if we don’t really know who we truly are? It’s not possible! And, what would be considered our true self? Since we are not our physical bodies or our minds, what’s left to identify with as our “true self”? We have a few clues. Genesis 1:27 tells us we are created in the image and likeness of God, and in Matthew 10:34-36 Jesus clarifies that verse by quoting Psalm 82:6. “Is it not written in your law, ‘I have said you are “Gods” we are all children of the Most High.’” The goal of the soul, while on earth in a flesh body, is to remember who we are. Our lower “self” is of the earth and lost in matter. Our higher “self” is God-like and made up of Love which is light and always knows the way. So, God is Love and Love is pure consciousness. That is who I AM. If I am created in the “image and likeness” of God then I AM that which God is, which is Love. I AM Love. I AM nothing but that. Jesus said: “I am the way and the truth and the light” (John 14:6). Jesus is saying: “I AM Love.” “Self” is defined as: “A person’s essential being that distinguishes them from others.” My “essential being,” which is my true “self,” is Love. That is who I AM...Really! Until we know and understand this, we will always be the “other.” Until humanity understands this there will never be unity. There will always be division. Finding Your True Self

In this world, finding your true self can be difficult with so many projections and expectations put upon you by others The saying, “Know thyself,” reverberates through the ages, since the time of ancient Greece and Egypt. Religion can greatly affect how you know yourself, not just from being “born a sinner” but also the notion that you must be good. That alone could lead to delusion and ultimately set you up for an unanticipated dramatic shock, one of the triggers in the German New Medicine method I utilize and teach. Founder of Analytical Psychology, Carl Jung, stated that “I don’t want to be good, I want to be whole.” Being bad (or a sinner) could make up what most of us believe about our true selves. It’s like baking a cake when you have the metaphorical good ingredients and the bad ingredients. Sometimes we must use bad ingredients such as baking soda, or the cake “won’t rise to the occasion.” Believing this way, we could compensate our inherent “badness” with performing acts of good. This is true with humans: when experiencing a biological shock that shakes us to our core, we can be blinded by our awareness on a soul level. This unresolved conflict can lead us down different paths. When unconsciously triggered by the environment (people, place and/ or thing), we are reminded of the original situation that traumatized us. A normal conscious person observing this can see what a deluded person can’t see. A truly conscious person has the ability to allow the unconscious to be conscious, and also has the ability to see the light and darkness within.

It’s All Between Our Ears

My Deep Rejuvenation
By Maurgana Stiastny Om Swastiastu, that means “May God’s blessings be upon you!” In November, I visited a beautiful ayurvedic clinic in Bali for a 21-day Pancha Karma Retreat at a center called Amrtasiddhi. A beautiful setting, the people are outstanding, attending to your every need. As a practitioner of Chinese medicine, I consider ayurveda to be the Father of Medicine and I know how powerful it is. It was an amazing gift to dip my toe into Pancha Karma, a regimen of ayurvedic treatments. These natural modalities have stood the test of time, and act in harmony with nature and our body’s natural rhythms. It is said that doing a 21-day Pancha Karma will add 10 years to your life. The process is interesting. You start with a very limited diet of soups, a traditional dish called kitcharee, and ginger tea. Then every day you increase the amount of medicated ghee that you drink. The ghee penetrates your body. It has antiinflammatory properties, collecting toxins in the seven tissue layers of the body. On Day 7 you purge and clean it out. With that, the rejuvenation process starts, with several different treatments. Enemas with medicated oil and special body treatments, also with medicated oils, ensue. There is Abiyanga massage (ayurvedic massage). In Shirodara, warm oils are poured onto your forehead to calm the mind. On Day 19 of a deep cleanse and rejuvenation process, I experienced Podikizhi, a hot herbal poultice which is dabbed and pressed into your body. Pizhichil is a fantastic hot oil treatment performed on a wooden table where warm oils are poured onto your entire body and massaged into your joints. As a bonus, the food is great! Ways To Find Your True Self By Lalénya L. Vann For me, the spiritual goal of each lifetime is “re-finding” my authentic self, and then speaking my truth. Great concept! How do we get there? My personal preference is experiential practices that access my soul’s wishes, and provide guidance, solutions and answers. These experiential practices include dreamwork, trance journeys with drumming, and breath work. Our dreams provide a personal oracle for us every night. We can ask specific questions, or ask for guidance, healing, and solutions for daily challenges. Learning to understand the language and symbols of your dreams is easier when you regularly journal your dreams. Discussing them with others is enlightening and helpful. Trance journeys with sound induction, such as drumming or rattling at 200 beats per minute, are also known as “shamanic-type” drum journeys and trances. For these “Waking Dream” journeys, you are given a guided meditation to do your own journey during the drumming. In “Ecstatic Trance Postures Journeys”, you are shown an ancient posture from an artifact, cave painting, or sculpture. You then sit, stand, or lie in the posture during the drumming. The ancient posture is the portal for each person’s individual experience. Both are done as a ceremony, invoking the benevolent spirits for assistance. Afterwards, journeys are shared with the group. All the postures are healing, some offer divination, metamorphosis, or spirit journeys. The benefits of trance journeys include guidance for your personal path, receiving health and healing information, understanding daily challenges and receiving helpful solutions. God Dwells Within You
By Swami Khecaranatha God dwells within you as yourself. The purpose of life is to discover that truth. We can do this by raising our consciousness beyond the misunderstanding that we’re separate from God. If we’re clear about what we want in life and continually focus on that transformation, we can achieve it. My teacher Rudi succinctly expressed this when he said, “The equation for spirituality is depth over time.” Kuṇḍalinī Sādhana is a nondual Tantric practice focused on merging individual consciousness with Divine Consciousness. The terms Śiva and Śakti describe the structure of life. Śiva’s Consciousness is the foundation of all existence, while the universe is the manifestation of Śakti’s power to create. Underlying this idea is the fundamental understanding that all of life is simply One Thing, beyond all duality. It is our birthright to experience this reality, but to live in that state of awareness, we must work to transform our consciousness. We are mirrors of our Divine Source. God’s will and power have brought us into existence. Embedded within us is the God-given ability to be conscious, to use our will, and to act. Our will and power are not different than God’s, meaning we have the capacity to create the life we choose. Life is Consciousness pulsating into form, with form subsiding back into That. Consciousness itself never changes in this process. The same vibrancy and consciousness are always there, giving us the power to choose to undergo a miraculous transformation and to tune into the Self. Mind And Body Are One!
By Dr. Andy How do you feel, when you experience your true self? For me, I sense a stillness. There is a warmth that radiates, a sense of my inner being filled with deep gratitude and compassion for all life. I want to share when I feel my cup is so full with joy and abundance. How do you feel when not expressing your true self? For me, I am tense, judging, rushing, distrustful, and thinking about my own needs, what is not completed or may “go wrong.” It fascinates me to notice how variable our state of being can be even within a single day. How we feel, what we are radiating, the amount of thought, these are always changing so much. It’s a beautiful part of the dynamic experience that makes us human! As we collectively remember the truth that mind and body are one, we can easily sense the relationship between stuck stress, our spinal health, and the quality of our lives. When I don’t feel right in my body, I can’t think or act right, and I don’t like it much at all. On the other hand, when we have freedom and ease in the spine, we function normally and feel amazing! If we experience things like congestion, headaches, low energy, digestive issues, bodily pains, vertigo, etc. this is a sign of “stuckness” in our spine and nervous system, often the upper neck. It’s our body’s way of asking for care and attention. See What You Can Feel
By Kristine Kozuki What color is your aura? Aura photography allows us to see what our eyes cannot. People have a common misconception that our aura or energy field is one color and that it doesn’t change, when in fact it changes and evolves as our energy evolves. We are a thousand different people in a thousand different situations. We are growing and changing moment to moment according to what we are experiencing and how we choose to process that energy. There is comfort in knowing how much power we really have over our own energy. Using this technology allows science to help make sense of spirituality. Aura photography was invented in 1939 by Semyon Davidovich Kirlian. Developed as a Polaroid-style photograph, it is able to capture your aura, or the energetic color/essence of your life force energy in a photograph. Aura photography has since upgraded to a digital experience where we can even see how the aura changes in real time. This digital technology uses a biofeedback program that picks up on the bio-electric energy coming from our left hand. When a client is prompted to think of a “sad” moment, the aura turns dark and muddy. When prompted to think of a “happy” moment, their aura instantly brightens and radiates. We direct and tell our energy what to do and it in turn, it listens. Aura photography has been used as a means for people to “tell them who they are” but in actuality it’s there for you to experience and learn about your essence in the present moment. Trust Yourself
By Lisa M. Gunshore The Kalachakra for World Peace, a thousand steps leading to a single journey. I cannot express in words the profound experience I underwent working as a volunteer in Washington D.C. alongside His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It is a journey that has filled my heart with incredible pearls of wisdom from a highly respected teacher and Guru, and one that has opened my eyes to the importance of living a compassionate life. His Holiness has spoken of compassion and selflessness, of religious tradition and moral principle, and the importance of holding true to one's own faith. He has warned against getting caught up in too many rituals without understanding their true meaning and reminded us that with compassion there can be solitude, that modern life celebrates distraction. Yet amidst the teachings, I saw how quickly we forget the words of our teacher. We have witnessed the distraction and impatience of the crowds, the frustration and irritation of some volunteers operating from their ego. The energy built into a sudden burst in the middle of an afternoon thunderstorm, as the mob spiraled out of control over a spiritual symbol meant to aid their process of ascension. It is a reminder that one cannot have selflessness without selfcenteredness, no love without hate, no moral principle without immoral principles. His Holiness has shown us that individuals with strong moral principles lead happy and successful lives of honesty and respect. They also find genuine human friendships, which is an asset in today's world. Amidst the chaos of the mob, there were glimpses of light as people shared their books and ritual materials with others. During this event, I witnessed a group of disciplined and focused lamas create a sand mandala. They spent many days placing tiny grains of sand to form a beautiful creation. On the final day, His Holiness swiped his hand across the mandala, dissolving this work of art. That moment has stayed with me all these years later, especially when I struggle to let go of something I love. I remember the mandala dissolving and can surrender with trust. As Osho said, "Don’t waste your life for that which is going to be taken away. Trust life. If you trust, only then can you drop your knowledge, only then can you put your mind aside. And with trust, something immense opens. Then this life is no longer ordinary life, it becomes full of God, overflowing." Lisa M.
