The Great Awakening By Mark Sheehan

The other is as though everything is a miracle.” - Albert Einstein Is there a spiritual revolution underway? From one perspective, you could say that it has been happening for thousands of years. While there have been great civilizations in the distant past, written history records the teachings of the great sages and avatars, the founders of our existing world cultures. There is no question that the founders of the major religions transformed their worlds. Yet in the past three decades, interest and activity in the spiritual domain has exploded. Just as the digital world has led to an exponential increase of information and access to knowledge, there has been a dramatic increase in systems and technologies for clarification of consciousness and expansion of awareness. What’s behind all of this? One explanation is that the entire multiverse is conscious energy, all pulsing in an incalculable vast web of information transfer. Consider that the ten trillion cells in your body all work together to perform the thousands of functions that you perform daily. What miracle keeps it all in sync? Then think of the 100 billion stars in our galaxy and the solar systems that surround them. If you can, then consider the billions of galaxies.
Might there be a plan to it all? In those solar systems, imagine conscious life forms further along in their development than our little backward planet. Despite the wisdom of so many avatars and saints, here we are still lying, killing, warring and destroying the planet that sustains us! A b out 25 years ago, say at the time of Harmonic Convergence, the spiritual revolution shifted into high gear and accelerated year by year to the point where it is now operating at light speed. It’s not just the ‘spiritual’ folks who are waking up; the whole planet is rising to a higher vibrational level, hopefully in time to turn this earth around. One explanation for this phenomenon is that there is a tidal wave of light-encoded energy emanating from the center of our galaxy to enhance our awareness. Our operating systems are getting upgrades. These massive pulsations of cosmic radiation carry codes of energy to help us transition to a peaceful world and a more sustainable way of living that is in harmony with nature. Despite the boost from beyond, we ourselves need to make the most of the incoming energies
to overcome the tyranny of the fear that has ruled the planet for centuries. The constant input of this cosmic energy will activate greater levels of emotional sensitivity, psychic awareness and inner strength. As you become more perceptive, you will grow out of old patterns of fear, regret, revenge and envy. Better yet, you will imagine clearer outcomes and make more conscious choices. People who are ruled by fear are interpreting these powerful forces as chaos and, to be sure, there are huge changes happening. At the same time these incoming codes allow you to rise above existing limiting beliefs. As your greater awareness becomes the new constant, you grow more balanced and generate a more positive field around you that connects with the spreading web of awareness. It was Lenny Bruce who remarked, “everyday people are straying from the church and going back to God.” This year, millions overcame the fear factor and made better decisions, despite religious advice. The election results show that millions of people refused to be brainwashed by the billionaires who wanted to take us back to the 1950s. Despite 24/7 propaganda from the ‘news’ channels, people voted for a broad slate of liberal reforms and against the regressive platform of the ultra-conservatives. It is time to focus your imagination, get clear about your intentions, and sharpen your awareness to take action. Expect superior outcomes. Understand that you are being rewired for higher functioning. It’s all good – you can do no wrong and there’s nothing to worry about – but buckle up and brace for the changes while managing your new awareness and powers. Much has been written about the end of the Mayan calendar and along with it, some say, the end of the world as we know it on December 21, 2012. But an argument could be made that this revolution, accompanied by the predicted uplifting of humanity, has been a long time coming, in various stages. Anyone who lived through the 1960s knew what a mind-bending decade that was, with a youth rebellion, the popularization of Eastern religions and explosion of New Age philosophies. The journey from there to now has been a long and winding road in the evolution of consciousness. What will the world look like on December 22? Probably it will be much the same as now. But maybe, just maybe, we’ll feel a change that God has become an inner Wellspring instead of a distant Authoritarian, and we’ll start seeing and sensing the Divine within everything and every situation. Maybe it’s just the tipping point where we all will truly experience our oneness with each other, and celebrate our brotherhood and sisterhood. Just maybe!

Dr. Wayne W. Dyer Fearlessly Embraces Love By Eric T. Richter
Prolific author and seminar leader Dr. Wayne W. Dyer recently finished a lecture tour around the world and landed home on Maui in mid-October. With a new book out and a brand new workshop scheduled for January, he exhibits no signs of slowing down. At 72, Wayne has become deeply embraced by his God nature, and is primed to share his newest inner discoveries with the world. He graciously allowed Maui Vision Magazine to interview him in person recently in his Ka'anapali home. Full of energy and vibrancy, he shows little sign of the leukemia he was diagnosed with over two years ago. After initially following his doctors’ advice and getting sicker, in April 2011 Dr. Dyer received long distance healing from Brazilian healer John of God. Photographs of Wayne were sent to John of God, who then performed the healing. Because Wayne was on Maui at the time, special herbs and blessed water were sent to Maui via international overnight delivery service. The healing, which initially left him bedridden for a week or two, had seemingly miraculous results. Following the removal of his “sutures” by the invisible “entities” sent by John of God, Wayne was overcome by the vibration of love. He emerged with a newfound mission to be of service, and an overwhelming loving nature he’d never before experienced in such an expanded way. One day he spent many hours giving away $50 bills to homeless people, and he continues to help many people he encounters in his daily life. “All illness,” Wayne says, “is precluded by our energy bodies, and is the body’s way of responding to psychological traumas.” In his case, he says the cause is perhaps failed relationships from the past. “Our body always knows what it is doing.” These days he is not overly identified with his body; in fact, he doesn’t even test for leukemia to check if it is still present or completely gone. Instead, he gauges his health by how he feels. Wayne says, “Who we are is not just these bodies at all….there is something much grander
than this physical form. That is really what never changes. Ultimately, it all returns back to its invisible Source. Who we are is this invisible presence occupying these physical bodies. God is something that is deep within each and every one of us.” Following his John of God experience, Wayne says his consciousness was filled with a sense of fearlessness. He feels he is being prepared for his ascension. He is also losing his sense of linear time, believing everything is happening at once – past, present and future. Therefore, the predictions of massive changes accompanying the end of the Mayan calendar in mid-December hold little charge for him. Regarding dietary recommendations, Wayne says what you eat is not as important as what you believe about what you eat. Banish The Darkness In Your Heart With Love
By Liah Howard Sometimes we may feel that all that has illuminated our lives goes dim, and that we are alone in the dark. This can happen in difficult circumstances, like the death of a loved one, loss of a job, or onset of health issues. Or it can come from internal issues, like feelings of failure, shame, or grief. This cloud of depression and confusion may leave us feeling cut off from our connection to our inner light and to God. The spiritual revolution is remembering that our inner light is always shining, and that God dwells there in our hearts. God and our inner light do not abandon us; we abandon them. We can find our way back to God and the light within if we are willing to be honest with ourselves and ask for help. Recently, life dealt me a tough blow and I found myself reeling off center and far from my heart, disconnected from my inner light and God. I felt incredibly small, vulnerable, and confused. I cried daily for three weeks, mixed with angry outbursts at the injustices of life and feeling upset with God and my situation. My regular centering practices of meditation and prayer didn’t bring any peace to my mind. I was stuck in the dark, feeling alone in a reservoir of old sadness. I continued to handle the responsibilities of life, but I felt like my inner sparkle had dulled. By the grace of God I met someone else who had been in a similar situation to mine. She was willing to hold my hand and guide me
through this unknown territory of doubt and fear. She beheld the goodness and light within me, even when I had forgotten. She described how she had managed a similar situation in the past, and how wonderful everything turned out in the end. She empathized with my lack of faith and allowed me to speak about the deepest, darkest parts of myself without judgment. Her unconditional love was a radiant beam piercing the dark night of my soul, illuminating the path home to my inner light and to God. Love is a

powerful healing balm. I began to realize that rather than blame an external God for my troubles, I needed to look at my part in creating them. Then I had to forgive myself for forgetting that I am a Divine child of the universe and worthy of love. My heart light was rekindled by my friend who saw my brightness. A very deep spiritual revolution was occurring in my being and I resolved to live life differently. I had been confronted with my own demons, rather than some external evil force. My negativity had cut me off from my heart light and God, but thanks to Grace I found a way back. At times life sucks; it’s an unavoidable part of being human. But it’s never without meaning, it’s never hopeless, and we never have to bear our burdens alone. Opening The Breath Into Healing
By Andy Marcus The breath is our primary link with life, with the body, and to our connection with something greater than the self. It is also in the breath that holding patterns develop when we are small children to defend against overwhelming conditions. When we breathe less we feel less; in this way we can more easily cope with life and feel that we can survive. While the pattern for holding is common as a survival mechanism in response to trauma, we are not fully alive when we contract our breath. We remain in the traumatic holding patterns of the past; we stay in grief and loss, holding back love and our life force. In the work of Craniosacral Aquatica, one starts to delve deeper into one’s breath, creating the possibility of opening by releasing the holding the body creates and shifting breathing patterns that limit the life force. Craniosacral Aquatica facilitates these openings of the breath in several ways. First, the practitioner creates a connection with the breath of the client while becoming one with the breath in moment-to-moment presence. This creates a full body connection based on the change of buoyancy in the water. The connection facilitates letting go, expansion of the breath, and safety to experience going underwater while creating a rapport with the subconscious. This creates a deep trust. Direct Realization In The Silence By Eli Jaxon-Bear
I recently read an article in an Australian magazine headlined, Spirituality is Now. It reports of a local New York spiritual teacher with 30,000 Twitter followers to whom she sends daily messages of enlightenment. Sayings of the Buddha have long appeared on refrigerator magnets and t-shirts, and Buddha heads have replaced gnomes as garden fixtures. We are in a strange new world. In 1971, when Harvard professor Richard Alpert went to India and returned as Baba Ram Dass, he published Be Here Now. It was well received in the hippy psychedelic community, but ignored by everyone else. In 2000, Eckhart Tolle, the author of the similarly titled The Power of Now, appeared on Oprah. It was the watershed moment when the spiritual subculture went mainstream. Now, millions of us are trying “to just be here now.” We all are just “living in the moment,” as we go to yoga and experiment with raw foods. Zen is no longer an alien word and yoga studios have sprouted like mushrooms. We eat organic food, and believe in compassion and that we are all one. Buddhism has become the new religion as people flock to the Dalai Lama, Zendos and Vipassana retreats. Perhaps like you, I remember the dark ages of the 1950s, when none of this was present in our culture. It has spread with amazing speed through our collective psyche. Compared to the barren wasteland of just a few decades past, this is a welcome relief. However, it is both good news and bad news. I remember a time in the 1960s when long hair, a beard, and a certain style of dress was usually a statement about a philosophy of life. It meant that you had dropped out of the mainstream and were searching for truth, harmony, and a new way of relationship that saw us all as brothers and sisters on Mother Earth. A few years later long hair and jeans became a fashion statement, a lifestyle that was bereft of any spiritual depth. The style entered the mainstream, stripped of all deeper meaning. Similarly, many people today are trying to incorporate their new spiritual beliefs into daily living. This misunderstanding is classically called “the ego capturing enlightenment.” It is a common mistake that we make as we enter the path of freedom and love. It is not as casual an affair as it may seem as we try to “just be here.” The concepts, beliefs and ideas of the enlightened age are often a reflection of the pure truth. However, a concept, idea, or belief is itself the limiting factor to direct realization. Without direct realization, we are forever working on ourselves, trying to be here now, trying to be more compassionate, trying to remember who we really are as we do our daily or weekly practice and try to integrate peace and oneness into our daily life. When it is really the ‘right’ guy?” My mother’s response was immediate, “When you don’t have to ask. Then you will know he is the right one.” Decades later, when I joyfully accepted my late husband’s marriage proposal, I realized that my mother’s words were prophetic. I recently read an article in Newsweek by Dr. Eden Alexander, a neurosurgeon who claims that “Heaven is Real.” After being in a deep coma for seven days, he describes his experience of life after death. Changing The World, One Dance At A Time By Amara Pagano Conscious Dance is an emerging form of movement that is addressing our need to connect body and spirit. In our most recent evolution as a species, we have become quite disconnected from our bodies and grown accustomed to letting our heads lead. This behavioral pattern has broken the balance of our relationship with the environment, with other people and with other countries. We have become a collective mind running the show and have forgotten the inherent wisdom that comes from an embodied state of being. We have become addicted to thinking and have forgotten that there is another way to listen, another way to perceive, and another way to relate. There is momentum building in our collective psyche wanting to heal this rift and reunite spirit and body. Forms of conscious movement designed to reconnect us to this embodied state of being are beginning to sprout all over the world. Imagine a government that was making decisions from this state of being, where the words and the actions were rooted in a body that is able to feel the wisdom of the heart. Imagine yourself moving through life being guided by a connection of spirit and body. On a growing number of dance floors around the globe, people are gathering to practice this con-
nection. The largest and most developed of these practices is the 5Rhythms. Birthed by Gabrielle Roth 40 years ago, the 5Rhythms is currently taught by over 400 teachers in 50 countries, including our very own Maui, where classes are offered at the Makawao Union Church on Wednesdays and Sundays. Gabrielle’s work has inspired an entire generation of movers, spawned barefoot boogies and ecstatic dances, and seeded other forms of conscious movement practices that are blossoming. The Divine Paradox Of Unity Consciousness
By Hermann and Marie Müller How are you coping with the change of the ages? Preparing for the upcoming change—12/21/12—has been an ongoing process. This 26,500 year cyclic shift is opening the way for a new world. Human consciousness has been rapidly evolving; perceptions are shifting, hearts are opening, and minds are being liberated. True yogis who are aware of the beauty and presence of their soul symbolize Unity Consciousness. They withdraw from external distractions and focus on the purification and quietening of their bodymind. They seek out nature—to be at one with it as nature is focused on itself. Nature maintains its own ability to survive through ease and adaptation. Spending time in nature is essential in navigating the current and ongoing consciousness shift at a physical level. Nature follows the creation of its own elemental structure and does not carry the duality or create a dichotomy for us. Instead, it creates a harmonizing resonance for the heart and for healing. This is the reason so many are being called to be with nature and the elements—to experience oneness. We can experience the non-interference of being “at one” with nature in places like Hawaii. These places feel very healing and nurturing to the body, mind and soul. How do we live in divine union with our souls while keeping our feet firmly planted on the ground in our daily lives, all while facing challenges and changes in our emotional, physical and mental worlds? How can one person stay aligned and centered while another person next to him or her is experiencing turmoil and feeling fragmented? Practicing daily rituals and techniques to center and realign ourselves is key. Paulo’s Perspective

Hello Paulo, I have been struggling with the loss of my daughter Melissa who was murdered by her cousin over five years ago and I still can’t seem to communicate with her or really come to terms with her death … but sometimes I feel she is near me. I would also like to know what really happened that day and if everyone is in prison who should be. - Heather Dear Heather, When someone close, especially our child, dies – no matter how it happened – emotional attachment remains for a long time. The grieving process is even more difficult if violence was involved. Trying to communicate with the deceased, or dwelling on the details of what happened (who got punished, etc.) is not going to help your daughter and certainly is not going to help you recover from your loss. While such desires are understandable, they are counterproductive to your primary challenge, which is to adapt and get your life back. I know it’s not an easy assignment, but you need to stop dwelling, for the sake of your own health and sanity. Accept that you have

incomplete information and let that be okay, in order to move on. There’s nothing you can do for your daughter now. Any desire for vengeance is not coming from her. Yo u r f o cus needs to be on acceptance and letting go. It might help to think of your grieving process as releasing your daughter (from your emotional holding on, for one thing). Use a basic breathing exercise several times every day. Think the word “letting” with your in-breath, and “go” with the out-breath, as you visualize your daughter’s soul soaring into the ultimate lightness of being – freedom from all the sufferings of body and mind. Your grieving process is one thing you can control. Letting go is what you have been called to do – for your own sake, but you can think of it as also supporting the freedom of

your daughter’s soul. Of course, she loves you, but she’s got to move on. Don’t hold her back with your emotional pain. Release her to a higher glory and accept your own fate, even if you don’t know why. Two things we can never change are the past and other people. Your daughter is gone and, like it or not, there is nothing constructive or helpful you can do but courageously become a warrior of acceptance. You have to go through all the steps of grieving, but none of them say “hold on like crazy!” There are many books and counseling services; please avail yourself and get help. Your daughter’s not coming back. Assume that she’s in a better place and also that she doesn’t want you to feel so bad. Even though we often demand it, it is not our ‘job’ to know why stuff happens. Sometimes it takes years, if at all. We may not be capable of understanding anyway. But as per the Serenity Prayer, it is our job to accept what we cannot change, to roll with the punches, to continue living our lives in as healthy a way possible. For your sake and hers, release your daughter… and see what gifts letting go will bring, no matter how painful. Stop obsessing on your questions… letting go is all you are called upon to do. Playing Again
By Ann Nehaya Walsh Many of us played easily and often as children, continuing to play into our teenage years and adulthood. Some of us did not play as children, and still do not play as adults, especially if we do not have children to free us from socially expected conduct. When living in Hana, I often skipped or crawled on the expanse of lawn in Honokalani between the highway and the studio I rented. Sometimes I laid on my back, giggling, as my legs cheerfully teased the air. Play releases one from troublesome thoughts and beliefs, for it has no aim. One is delivered into being, and into breathing joy, as a stack of lilikois roll down hill in a mad race, or while slithering along grass moving between insects and tiny flowers. In this expanse of being, insight comes and solutions bloom. I felt stunned surprise and disdain from passing tourists and local drivers. I didn’t let it stop me. I had the reputation of being without drugs, alcohol, or marijuana. People couldn’t figure me out. I was patient. I understood they were not used to seeing someone who is free. I continued to play, making homes of leaves for menehunes beneath mango trees, looking through a marble at insects weaving their days, and often singing out loud. Eventually, I felt local drivers taking notice with less judgment. I felt acceptance from others as I accepted myself. Living on this side, with less natural space to freely explore, I found ways to continue – skipping along the sidewalk while my sarong flutters in the air, or dancing with wind-swayed coconut trees outside my home while singing. Are We Human Guinea Pigs?
By Debra Greene, Ph.D. The World Health Organization categorized radio/microwave frequency radiation as a Class 2B carcinogen. Recently, the Italian Supreme Court affirmed the link between cell phones and tumors. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine called for a moratorium on “smart” meters. There are thousands of research studies substantiating cancer risks and other detrimental health effects from wireless radiation. Still, the multibillion dollar telecom industry continues to circulate its own biased and outdated “research” to confuse the issue. The fact is, cell phones, WiFi, baby monitors, cordless phones, and “smart” meters carry substantial health risks. The giant telecom industry is able to get away with spreading misinformation because of strong collusion between government agencies and the corporations that benefit. Current exposure limits are based on outdated science. The old science measured radio/microwave frequency radiation (RFR) by looking solely at thermal impacts. This is the extent to which our body tissue heats up – as if we are pieces of meat being cooked in a microwave oven – which happens at high radiation levels. Now scientists realize that living humans are quite different than pieces of meat. Current research shows non-thermal impacts from low levels of RFR. As you can imagine, with profit stakes so high and because of corporations colluding with government, there have been major efforts to suppress and discredit this research. But you know better—you are not a piece of meat. You may be thinking these devices meet safety standards. But sadly, the standards are meaningless. Using the old “cooked piece of meat” approach, they were established decades ago and were meant for electricians who had short-term exposure. They do not reflect the current reality of how our bodies function in a wireless world. Your New Life In 2013
By Maribeth Theisen Have you made a New Year’s resolution to meditate? Exercise? Start a new business? Act on your desires and dreams and have confidence you will arrive at success. The key word is “act.” When working with others I notice the biggest barriers to movement are the four Fs: feelings, focus, faith, and follow through. When a feeling of depression or fear arises, many respond as though it were an indisputable Truth and just give in. Feelings are not facts, just information. Move through an uncomfortable feeling by meditating and asking that emotion, “What do you need?” For example, when I feel overwhelmed, I know it’s time to take a break and enjoy some quiet time. Focus is necessary to see your project through. People lose aim when they allow distracting thoughts to take over. The mind is your servant, not your master. Take charge of your thoughts by becoming aware of their process. For example, when I’m writing and a thought arises that I need to make a phone call, I continue writing and make a note to complete that call afterwards. Faith is paramount because if you don’t believe you will arrive at success, then you will give up. Build your confidence every day by imagining that you have achieved the goal; include rich visual details, sounds, and feelings of pride and happiness. Write and speak daily affirmations about having accomplished your dream. Without follow through, you will drop the ball. Write down the steps it will take to arrive at success. “Chunk it down” so you don’t feel overwhelmed. Simply do the next deed on your list. Make the current task your top priority. When you follow the four Fs, you will create success in your life. Make this year your best year yet! Astrology Impacts Human Evolution

All cultures throughout the entire pilgrimage of human evolution have been influenced by cosmic forces that can be understood through astrology. The commonality of human potential can be defined by the movement of our solar system through the constellations of the zodiac. These twelve signs, which are each entities of vast consciousness, impact our experience of reality. It is commonly known that we are concluding a cycle impressed by the qualities of Pisces and entering the new Age of Aquarius. However, many of us know little more than the ideas generated from the 1960s song by the Fifth Dimension predicting that “peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars.” Humanity is being propelled into transformations that we are helpless to resist. A concatenation of cosmic and human cycles is generating a tsunamic force for quickening consciousness that is fueled by technology and communication. The challenge is to integrate this inrush of shifting ray energies and adjust our priorities to be congruent with our new perceptions. Astrologically, these global influences can be explained by the dynamics of the outer planets. Yet, with compassionate Neptune favoring transcendence, rather than annihilation, we have had some time to open our hearts, grow and adapt. Neptune dissolves the pretense of boundaries that have engendered a false sense of separation between man and man, man and woman, man and nature, man and God. Together these planetary intelligences are bending their wills to augur an opportunity for transmutation that will dramatically shift our collective experience of reality from the inside out. Esoteric teachings reveal that the veils
between the physical world and astral plane are being ripped open, and all that has been subtle or imaginary can visibly exist in our awareness. Like the Matrix movies suggest, our world may simply be a simulation, or just a reflection, of our inner landscape. The perception of “awakening” to a new dimension is presenced by the ruling planet of the Aquarian Age, Uranus. Clothed in the initiatory garments of the fiery sign of Aries, Uranus rules revolution, surprises and breakthroughs. Like Aquarius, it stands for altruism, brotherhood and universal aspirations. Letting Go Of The Past
By Eliza Bassett We’re here, at the end of 2012, with the pressure upon us to let go! To release those experiences, life lessons and burdens of emotions, thoughts and physical pains we grip to so tightly. We can’t receive a gift, a new concept, or a loving embrace if we hold strongly onto the past. Some Sun signs can’t find flexibility. It is in their nature to be sturdy and rigid; they are the ones who do not move. They are called fixed signs for a reason. How many have witnessed Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarian friends being stubborn to their own detriment? Those born in a mutable sign – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces – have the ability to go with the winds or current, and modify as needed; it’s part of their nature. Those who are born in a cardinal sign – Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn – are sometimes impatient and want or seek change. Give this child a solid band to wrap around his or her midsection, and secure it with hooks and eyes. Put on goggles and a breathing mask. Pull the hoodie up and tie securely. This way, your inner child is completely covered with a Divine protection field. Start and end your day with this protection until it is constant. Etiquette In Sacred Places By Rev. Debbie Dehm I have been fortunate to visit a few sacred sites in the world. Recently I went to the sacred mountain of Mt. Shasta, California; this was my second trip to Mt. Shasta. I was eager to visit in the late summer when there is no snow in Panther Meadows because I wanted to see this magical place. My friend and I hike together often, and we always follow our intuition about which way to go and what to do. Panther Meadows is not well marked and we found it with our usual intuitive directions. We left a gift of sage and small crystals, and asked permission of the spirits of the mountain to visit this special place. Feeling welcome, we followed the stone path through the meadow and to the head of the creek that comes right out of the ground. It was just as I had imagined – beautiful with the heather and wild flowers in bloom. The next day we decided to visit Pluto’s cave. We had been there three years ago – it was full of spirit and we got a lot of orb pictures there. Pluto’s cave had also been difficult to find, but this has changed because of a housing complex being built nearby. This year there were no orbs in our pictures. The cave walls were covered in graffiti. The feeling of spirit was gone. We could tell that many more people had been to the cave and showed it no respect. As usual, we left our offerings but the energy had left this place. Please remember sacred sites are gifts to be appreciated. Spiritual Revolution Or Not? By Shalandra Abbey Well, here we are in December of 2012! Some people say our world will come to an end this month. We have heard about this for a long time from Hopi prophecy, Nostradamus’ predictions, and the Mayan calendar. Shall we choose to live in fear of disaster or excitement for change? As a full-time Reiki master, I have worked with the energy that surrounds us for over 20 years and counting. I have an intimate relationship with the energy of life. I know it well. I know what it feels like when someone has blocked energy in the body, mind and spirit, and how each area has its own unique, identifiable vibration. In 1992, I was living and practicing Reiki on Kauai when hurricane Iniki hit. We were told our island would be hit hard by this hurricane. A few hours before the storm arrived, I sent it a distant Reiki treatment. As the energetic connection was made, I was surprised by the loving vibration I felt in my hands and throughout my body. The energy of the hurricane told me, “No one will be hurt unless they hurt themselves.” It was true. For the past several months, the energy coming through me has become more heavenly, more refined, and more powerful. We Are The Sun
By Maurgana Stiatsny We are the Sun. We are the stuff from which stars are made. The more we can remove the blocks that keep us from our full expression, the more radiant, whole and resourced we will be. Many of us are awakening and evolving to be more present, more loving, and more kind. We are living from our hearts more fully, with a deeper knowing of our connection to all things. We are realizing that we do not live in a vacuum; we affect the world around us. We have opportunities to wake up and be present every moment. It is important to ground and feel the earth under your bare feet every day. We can harness the energy of the earth, sky, moon and sun. Filling ourselves with that light and then radiating it out to the world around us does not take much time, but it does take a relaxed effort. Daily practices of mindfulness are very helpful. Examples include Qi Gong, Tai Qi, Yoga, breath practice, meditation and prayer. It can be anything that makes you totally present and focused. The little things you do to be more present will have a larger impact. As we move forward into this new time, we are being called upon to awaken to our true nature. I find it helpful to place a hand on my heart and breathe into my chest and belly. This will bring you into a harmonic resonance, allowing you to feel your heart and move from that space. Your heart is filled with many neurons much like your brain, so it can help your entire being to focus on and move from your heart. Living from our hearts is the true spiritual revolution. Picking The Right Cause
By Sharleé Maher Recently, I read about a woman in Darfur who had to travel many miles and days to get her seven children to a refugee camp before they all would be met with starvation. On the way there, one of her daughters became so weak that the mother had to stop. Knowing she could not risk the lives of the other children by staying and caring for the child, she was forced to abandon the little girl on the roadside and keep going. When the mother arrived at the camp, she was so inconsolable over what happened that she could not even utter her own name. After reading this, I broke down in tears. When I shared the story with my husband, I told him that I wanted to send money, immediately, to aid in relief for these refugees. My husband was hesitant! This was not an unfamiliar scene between us. Whenever I read a moving story and shared it with him, I immediately followed it up with a request that we send money. This time, he felt that we used all of our charitable money for that month for earthquake relief in Japan. After a few more tears, I realized that I needed to re-evaluate my charitable donation strategy. I decided that I would find one cause that I am passionate about, and that would be the only cause to which I would donate. If the cause empowers women (the cause I chose), I am free to give. For appeals that do not fall within my criteria, I am able to kindly offer promised prayers of support. This approach has made decision making effortless when donations are requested, and is one my husband found easy to embrace as well. At any moment our emotions, libido, or our connection to self or each other can be measured subjectively. As a couple, you would be in a highly connected state while sharing profound loving space when your hearts and souls are fully open. Conversely, when you are in significant conflict and are feeling contracted as an individual or as a couple, you may rate this as a “minus 10.” Here is how you play. Living Fully In Oneness

Grounding Ourselves
By Heather Ardoin There is a lot of fast moving energy coming to us on earth at this time. We are being called to make shifts in our inner and outer lives every day. Some of this intense energy shifting can leave us feeling ungrounded. It can be helpful to have a quick and easy way to feel grounded when we are not able to go for a walk in nature or do some other full body grounding techniques. The Prithivi Mudra, or earth mudra, is an easy way to ground yourself wherever you are. Place the tips of the thumb and ring finger on top of each other, using light pressure. Extend the other fingers. Do this with each hand. Sit on a chair or stand with your feet flat on the ground. On inhalation, imagine that you are absorbing the earth’s energy through the soles of your feet. Guide the energy up through your legs, body, head, and into the stars. Hold your breath for a few seconds. On exhalation, imagine the energy sinking back into the earth as a renewing force. Feel the balance of giving and taking. Repeat this a number of times until you feel grounded. It can also be helpful to repeat an affirmation, such as: “The earth’s power gives me stability and self confidence; the power of the stars opens me to new opportunities of growth.” Like a flower, we need roots into the ground for nourishment, and light from above for inspiration. Learning Roles Evolving
By Apollo Grace There’s a major shift happening in the nature of spiritual development right now. What I have seen in workshops I attend, in workshops I lead, and in my own experience as a seeker, is that students of awakening are taking more responsibility for the shape of their own growth and evolution. This has led to an appropriate change from rigid teacher/ student hierarchies to a community of equals. Collectively, we are emerging into a new level of autonomy. We don’t need to project our deepest gifts on to others; we know that if we can’t find awakening in our own heart, we won’t find it anywhere else. And yet, teachers and coaches are still extremely useful; there are skills, techniques, perspectives, and information that we can get from others that can advance our journey. So we direct our growth by choosing from the many opportunities available. In schools, workshops, and trainings, we have refined the use of hierarchy. We need a functional hierarchy, where for this class, we take the roles of facilitator or participant. It serves our common purpose to drop in to those roles as deeply as we can. But we also recognize that this functional hierarchy is based on a more fundamental equality; the teacher isn’t better than the student in any fundamental respect, but brings skills, perspectives, and challenges that are useful to the student’s growth today. Perhaps another day, the roles would be reversed. This demands great responsibility from each of us, as we steer ourselves past ego to find the deepest truth. What it brings to the world is the emergence of a consciously co-evolving humanity, taking us to places beyond any current imagining. Exposing Our Shadows
By Heather Gangnier A revolution is “a dramatic change in ideas or practice.” Isn’t that what we are asking for? Marianne Williamson once said the biggest problem with the spiritual community was its refusal to deal with its shadow side. The shadow side is that part of us we try to keep hidden, out of shame or fear of being controlled, rejected, ridiculed or punished. It’s usually our deep wounding. We actually created our shadow side when we were children; we made up, accepted, and believed limiting ideas about ourselves. The shadow side runs our behavior to an extent. Somewhere deep within, the shadow believes it’s helping us avoid more pain. As a result, it drives our behavior and emotions, orchestrating aspects of our lives at a deeply unconscious level. Conflict usually emerges when we consciously desire something that the shadow may feel is threatening, or when we lack the huge amount of energy required to repress the pain associated with the wounding. This point is a great opportunity for healing if we avoid the temptations to turn away from our pain or look away from something we feel may be ugly, dirty or unacceptable. When we choose to take a deep look inward and allow the shadow to emerge into the light, we ultimately discover that what we were so afraid of was only an emotionalized idea. The world at large is just a reflection of the individuals that make up the whole. So if we really want to experience a spiritual revolution, perhaps it is time for us to take back our power and realize we never really lost it in the first place. I Am Because We Are

The ancients lived by the concepts of Oneness. They understood the web of life and how everything is connected and interdependent as seen in nature. It is time for us to choose to create the best for all concerned, not just for ourselves. This was articulated even in our recent political campaigns. By Uma Gal The ancient seers believed that milk and ghee are the only elixirs available on earth. In Ayurveda, cow’s milk and ghee are believed to be the best for human consumption. Ghee is full of nutritive and spiritual qualities and it enhances physical and mental strength, keeping the body healthy. It also helps to take out impurities from the body. For thousands of years in India, fire ceremonies called yagnas were performed using cow’s ghee as the main fuel to feed the fire. The power of this fire would remove atomic radiation from the atmosphere. Ghee balances vata (wind), pitta (fire) and kapha (water) when applied three times a day in the inner lining of the nostrils. When used as medicine, ghee can manage high cholesterol and cure skin disorders, gout, general debility, and more. Ghee increases agni, the digestive fire, improving absorption and assimilation. It is good for improving memory and excellent for the eyes due to its cooling nature. It soothes and strengthens the eyes and can help to improve vision. Want to make ghee? Here’s how: Place 1 lb. unsalted butter in a one-quart saucepan over low heat. Allow to melt completely, and then raise heat to medium. When the butter starts to boil, giving off its water content, lower heat and cook slowly for about 10 minutes. The ghee is done when all the moisture has cooked out and the milk solids at the bottom of the pan have turned light golden brown. There will be a nutty aroma. Remove pan from heat, let cool and filter through layers of cheesecloth into a clean, dry glass container with a tight lid. Ghee does not need refrigeration. The medicinal properties are said to improve with age.
By Yvonne Conner, M.D. Whether we are aware of our ancestral lineages or not, we are highly affected by the thoughts, feelings, attitudes, beliefs, habits and intentions of our ancestors. I find that up to 85 percent of our health and psychological issues come from our ancestors—not only from the current lineages connecting to our four grandparents, but all lineages from all of our past lives or multi-dimensional selves. There may be generational curses, birth karma, limiting vows, oaths, contracts, or ancestral ego in our history. A useful tool is Ho’opono’pono, or forgiveness. Forgiving the situation diffuses harmful effects, including asking forgiveness from those our ancestors harmed. As Kryon teaches (through David Brown), our relationship with our family constellation is an inner reflection of our relationship with Source. Our relationship with our inner mother and father, including whether the inner child gets clear messages from the inner parents or has carried or inherited a terrorized child, is reflected in the dynamics of the family constellation. Some of these “gifts” from our ancestors include seeds of aging, suffering, war, polarity, infantilism or death. Recall some of the stuck patterns of your ancestors and you will most likely find them encoded in your DNA. Some ancestral spirits may still be attached to you even if they were adopted outside of the family. Often they hold patterns of disease or possess your emotional body, resulting in bipolar or mood disorder. The father of one of my patients died of lung cancer. He remained in his daughter’s energy field until she joined him in the after life. Unless your relationship with your family is completely harmonious and highly functional, you could greatly benefit from ancestral clearing.
WAKING UP TO THE REAL VALUE OF LAND Change only happens when the existing systems aren’t working. It takes a shock to wake up. Every day brings more shocks as we realize that our financial systems are giant Ponzi schemes, our governments are corrupt and dysfunctional; we have a high-tech health care in a feudal delivery system and even our food is corporate controlled and extremely contaminated. We have to do something, but where do we start? Start with food! Food brings us all together! Grow your own and sleep better knowing that it’s chemical free! Share the abundance with your friends. Asked what he thought of Western Civilization, Gandhi said that he thought “It would be a good idea.” We can say the same for sustainability, a word that means one thing to farmers and another to politicians. (Hint: malls only sustain developers and the consumer culture.) But out on our Haiku farm ‘sustain’ means preparing the soil with compost, using all cuttings for compost, using the fish waste on the garden – basically imitating nature as best we can.
We have benefited from local and visiting teachers, even recently hosting a ten-day permaculture course. Next year we will give a series of seminars to share our methods and system. Because it is up to us to upgrade our communities so they are more resilient – to make them more self-sufficient, sharing, robust and imaginative as we move further into uncertain times. We are encouraged by the spread of farmers markets, the Maui Farmers Union, the Maui Food Web, SLIM seminars, more Ag courses at the college and even farm tours for the visitors. Together we are building a stronger, local food systems that we will need as world food supplies become more scarce and expensive. I’m not sure how we will survive the GMO menace in our midst, but I know we are taking critical steps to feed ourselves. Final proof is that more of our real estate clients are asking for properties with fruit trees and gardens and proximity to local markets. Is organic food important to you? Radiating A Healthy Glow
By Amrita Grace No matter what the state of our health is, we have the opportunity to love and appreciate ourselves. The more we are able to do so, the more we radiate a healthy glow. It sounds so simple, but in this rushed and over-stimulated world, it becomes challenging to devote time and energy to ourselves. Giving to ourselves is a dance of balance, attention, and awareness; it’s a choice we make over and over again. Here are some ways you can make choices that support self love: Take time in the morning for yourself. This might mean setting an alarm and getting up before the rest of your household. Mornings are quiet and peaceful, and an excellent time to meditate, exercise, set intentions for the day, or enjoy the sunrise over a cup of tea. Stop when your body tells you to. So often we push through exhaustion, overextending our energy and drawing down our precious resources. Over time, this impacts everyone around us as we become angry, resentful, and unavailable to ourselves or anyone else. Although we may tell ourselves the world can’t run without us, when we test that theory, we usually find that it does just fine. Look in the mirror. Notice things that you like and appreciate about your appearance. Find ways to compliment yourself, even when you don’t feel polished and presentable. Get comfortable with the real you. Feel your feelings as they arise. This may seem inconvenient, but I have found it to be an indicator of connection to my own heart. When I am not feeling, my heart is less accessible and I am not available to love myself or anyone else as well as I can.

Releasing Your Limits
By Judy Levy As I study A Course in Miracles, there are several references to the “unhealed healer,” which refers to many of us who love offering our healing work. Yet, we still have “work” we each need to do on ourselves as well – more forgiveness, purification, and expansion to help facilitate others’ evolution during these times of ascension. Incorporate Tenderness Into Your Life By Baraka Kanaan Inhabitants of Maui, if I could make a single paradigmatic operational suggestion for you to incorporate into the trajectory of your life, tenderness would be it. Scientists have already proven the long-term benefits of kissing, whereas the rest of the words on this page have no basis more reliable than my own bearish experience. None-the-less, I will dispense with the poetics. Take pleasure in the grace and elegance of your intelligence. Chances are, you will not fully recognize your heart’s true gift and inner genius until they’ve faded. But trust me, years from now you’ll look back at this very moment and be willing to trade every day from this day until then for one opportunity to come back here and make good use of the power you’ve been given. Laugh more, talk less. Do not give in to depression. If you go through the worst, it’s so that you can become your best. Remember – you are not as alone as you imagine. Life is full of cycles; sometimes you ‘win,’ other times you ‘lose.’ The key is learning what you can in the process, and knowing that you can never really be lost. Don’t sweat the small stuff, or sweat it, but know that anxiety is as effective as trying to do rocket science by taking a bubble bath. Try not to waste a single moment of your life in competition with someone else’s definition of success. The road of life is long; some days you’re up, some days you’re down, and in the end it’s about how much you’ve truly enjoyed yourself while you were around. Inquire into every discipline, even if you
return to that person or place that keeps you grounded and safe, for wherever your muse is, so too is your home. Dream big. Question everything, dare to challenge the prima facie truths. Nations will war, economies will collapse, and you too will die. When you do, and that terrible recognition of mortality comes into focus, you will want more than anything to be held in the comfort of knowing that you have loved and been loved in return. Don’t be afraid to cry uncontrollably; it lets you know you’re still alive. Don’t expect the world to meet you half way. If you want something to happen, take the initiative and go out to find it where it lay! Be careful whose rhetoric you listen to. Words are a form of energy, dispensing them is a way of altering the world around you. However, if you adopt nothing else I’ve shared on these candlelit pages, at least trust me on the tenderness. Breakfast Club Growing
By Gaia Best Maui Vision Magazine recently created a breakfast gathering called the Metaphysical Breakfast Club, which meets at Stella Blues Cafe in Kihei. We recently came together for the second time and filled three long tables! After mingling with others and enjoying our breakfast, we attendees introduced ourselves to the group, sharing about who we are and our talents. A host of old and new friends who practice various forms of bodywork, energy work, and all things related, attended the gathering. Great connections were made and new friendships developed. We all had a chance to connect and reconnect, having a lot of fun in the process. I took a head count at our most recent gathering and there were 33 attendees! For you numerologists, this is an auspicious number. Speaking of numerologists, there was a numerologist who attended the gathering and offered all attendees free numerology readings. Revolution Or Evolution?
By Catherine Blake Traveling far from home leads me to seeing new ways of being and thinking new thoughts. Boston, Massachusetts has a very different paradigm than Huelo, Maui. In Boston the intellect reigns supreme (even in spiritual matters). Here on Maui I find that nature dominates the Hawaiian language, “Malama malama, aloha aina” – do the right thing and nurture the land. As I continue to seek sustainable spiritual strength, I discover the gentle golden treasures of Buddhism. I also explore Hinduism, yoga sutras, and Jainism. From a Catholic perspective this is a spiritual revolution. After all, it was considered a sin to miss attending church on Sunday. As I braved the punishment of missing mass, I experienced an organic shifting and opening of consciousness, a spiritual evolution. Casting aside the binding robes of my early teachings would be to embrace a new future. And yet, I hesitate. Long-standing traditions remain deeply seated in my consciousness. It is quite a job to unravel fond memories of my youth from the rote rituals of the holidays. Now I embrace the best of all the traditions. I encourage freedom of thought and personal growth in myself and others. I cherish the merging of my early awakenings with newly discovered spiritual truths. Global New Thought is upon us now. Rather than becoming iconoclasts and destroying that which no longer serves our highest good, let us feather it out into the truth of today. Let us embrace the best of where we have come from and marry it into the best of what we are now, to create a symbiotic future. Only then can we be authentic. Only then can our spiritual evolution be sustainable. May your journey be richly blessed with love and light!
