Starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jessie Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Holly Hunter Directed by Zack Snyder Warner Brothers This type of movie is pretty much critic proof, and we know you're going to jump into the family truckster on Friday to catch this one regardless of what we lowly members of the media, as Donald Trump would call us, have to say about it. However, you won't find much to complain about this time, Nerd Nation: Advance word is that Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is riveting entertainment with a big heart – and in the days before this blockbuster’s debut, we’ll give a tip of the cap to the most unlikely hero of them all: Director Zack Snyder (who also helmed the previous Superman film, Man Of Steel) must have a sterling knowledge of these characters and their histories; preview clips show that this looks and feels just like a Neil Adams Silver Age comic book would it if were somehow brought to life. We can think of no greater compliment.

the most athletic Wonder Woman ever (apologies to Adrianne Palicki, who we were rooting for, and also to Lynda Carter, for being stuck in the cheesy TV adaptation). Affleck and Cavill as Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent? Not much to quibble with. Note to parents: The PG-13 rating reportedly is well-earned, and we wouldn't recommend bringing toddlers or those under 12 to this one. Other than that, this could be the best superhero movie since Marvel's Ant-Man.This film begins with a simmering distrust between Batman and Superman, but it will end with this question: Who will rule the box office from this point on, DC or Marvel? Regardless, we're sure the box office tallies will be up, up, and away.

The Dog Wedding (now playing in NYC and via VOD): Funny, fresh, and vibrant, this story of unlikely lovers turned canine owners is as enjoyable as a packed dog park on a spring day – and features two new stars in Rosalie Thomass and Matthew Bloom (yes, he’s the former WWE wrestler known as Albert). My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (March 25): From all accounts, a comedy sequel that will work great 14 years later; most of the original cast has returned, which is beyond amazing.

Guy Davis' Days: Long Davis Island's nationally

distributed blues music label, M.C. Records, recently announced that the album Kokomo Kidd by Guy Davis has received a Blues Music Award nomination for Acoustic Record of the year. Davis was also nominated as Acoustic Artist of the year. Davis' previous release on M.C. Records, Juba Dance, received the same nominations in 2013. The awards ceremony will take place on May 5 in Memphis, Tennessee. Since the release of Kokomo Kidd in September, Davis has appeared in a slew of media, including “Mountain Stage,” eTown, “Beale Street Caravan,” Sirius/XM's “The Village,” and “Kick Out The Jams” with Dave Marsh. Norah’s New Record: Nine-time Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter Norah Jones will perform the rare feat of appearing at both the Newport Folk Festival and Newport Jazz Festival on consecutive weekends this July. The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning artist will make her inaugural solo appearance at the Folk Festival on Saturday, July 23 having previously performed at the 2014 festival with her band Puss n Boots and as a special guest with the legendary singer Mavis Staples. The following weekend, Jones will make her first appearance at the Jazz Festival on Saturday, July 30. "Norah Jones is one of America's great singers of songs," said festival founder and music industry icon George Wein. "The scope of her artistry is so broad Norah Jones that it's possible for her to appear at both the Newport Folk Festival and Newport Jazz Festival, while still feeling comfortable that she will reach her audience and fans at these two historic cultural events. We are proud to have her with us." Jones is currently putting the final touches on her sixth solo album, which is due to be released this fall on Blue Note Records. Jones first emerged on the world stage in February 2002 with the release of Come Away With Me, her self-described "moody little record" that introduced a singular new voice and grew into a global phenomenon, sweeping the 2003 Grammy Awards and signaling a paradigm shift away from the prevailing synthetic pop music of the time. Since then, Jones has sold more 40 million albums worldwide and become a nine-time Grammy-winner. Jones has since released a series of albums including Feels Like Home (2004), Not Too Late (2007), The Fall (2009), and Little Broken Hearts (2012), as well as albums with her collective bands The Little Willies and Puss n Boots. The 2010 compilation ...Featuring Norah Jones featured Herbie Hancock, Willie Nelson, Outkast, and Foo Fighters.

in-demand performers – and in this case, it means every country in the free world – Zerdin's unique talents have seen him being invited to perform for The Queen on “The Royal Variety Show” no less than three times, and he’s racked up international TV appearances from Montreal’s prestigious Just For Laughs to ITV1’s Comedy Rocks. His critically acclaimed live shows have seen him sell out theatres across the globe. He also made his Las Vegas debut last autumn at Planet Hollywood. Crucially, Zerdin appeals to both comedy club and mainstream audiences in equal measure. Considered the UK’s #1 ventriloquist, his career has included appearances on everything from The Royal Variety performances to this Paramount show to performing on Comedy Central, ITV Daybreak, BBC TV’s “The One Show, “Sky News,” and Jason Manford’s “Comedy Rocks.” With his combination of technical skill, humoruous ventriloquism, charm, and impeccable comic timing, Zerdin’s live shows see him bring to life several very different characters,

Compiled by Bob Smith, noted as “steady” by a major pen manufacturer.

amongst whom are the cheeky, pre-adolescent Sam; belligerent OAP Albert; and precocious infant Baby. “I see myself as a one man Muppet sitcom, reining the characters in,” said Zerdin. “The old man has a thing for the ladies, and so does Sam, who is about to become a teen and knows naughty words. Between the two of them, they lead the baby astray, and the baby, of course, wants to know everything. I think it is important to have characters that people can relate to rather than, say, talking sheep, which are less believable.” Although the names are not as familiar on these shores, Zerdin has been seen on the cream of British television shows, including “Tricky Business,” “The Big Big Talent Show,” “Rise And Shine,” “Tonight At The London Palladium,” “Generation Game,” and many more. Ventriloquists have been a staple of UK entertainment for years, but it has taken Zerdin to bring his mix of standup and ventriloquism to the forefront of contemporary entertainment to put his art form on the comedy map in his home country. Fun & Frolic: Hold on to your pocket protector: The “World's Funniest Accountant” brings his “Stevie G.B.'s BIG Variety Show” featuring Stevie himself, young music star Kayla Stockert, Sarah Quinn, John Shea, Les Degen, “WIld” Bill Sherman, Lisa Polizzi, Lee Ann Brill, and others to 89 North Music Venue in Patchogue on April 3 at 7 pm. THE BOUNTIFUL GOURMET KFC FUBAR: Ahh, KFC – the huge Yum Brands corporate entity that we all used to refer to as Kentucky Fried Chicken. First, the KFC restaurants lost market share to the vastly superior Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen, which remains the fast food friend chicken joint of choice for anyone with even slightly active taste buds. Next, KFC tried everything from “Famous Bowls” (so righteously and brilliantly skewered by Patton Oswalt) to “$5 Fill Up” cups full of greasy stuff to not one but three comedians (Darrell Hammond, Norm McDonald, and most recently Jim Gaffigan) portraying KFC founder Col. Harland Sanders in an ad campaign so strange (some have called it downright creepy) that a recent online poll noted that more than 70 percent of TV fans who viewed it didn't like it. KFC's response? Much like not caring how clean the seating areas are at many local outlets, they just keep chugging along with their off-kilter ad campaign that nobody seems to understand, much less enjoy. That seems to be a great way to describe KFC's food during the past couple of decades as well; many of the restaurants are now “shared” with another Yum Brand entity, Pizza Hut, and the food is just about what you'd expect: Functional throwntogether by-the-numbers chicken that's sometimes acceptable,

sometimes mediocre, other times soggy and horrible, depending on the location and the time it’s ordered. It's a chain that badly needs to shake things up, and that's exactly what they've tried to do with its new “Nashville Hot Chicken” entry.

Zombie Wedding

Naturally, KFC has only managed to bother people once again; recently, Twitter lit up with people who actually live in Nashville who actually know what the dish dubbed as “NashvilleStyle Hot Chicken” is supposed to be – a hot, smoky, sizzing plate of the

kind of fried chicken that leads one to take gulps of water between bites. Real Nashville-Style Hot Chicken (and we know, we've had it) is full of black ground pepper, brown sugar, chili poweder, paprika, hot sauce, and enough cayenne pepper for five dishes. The real thing isn't for the meek; it's for serious BBQ fans that like hot (spell that HOT) to go along with their tangy. Naturally, KFC's version is akin to what a Entenmann's vanilla sheet cake is to a layer cake from your favorite bakery: A shoddy imitation. Thrown as us like the morning paperboy would at the Jericho outlet, this dish isn't too hot … and it isn't too hot, either. Bascially, it seems to be regular style KFC chicken with some very mild hot sauce applied before it was baked, then doused with some (again) very mild spices and served with a pickle slice along with each piece you've ordered (the only thing authentic about it). Nothing special about this; it reminded us of McDonald's McRib sandwich – nothing offensive, but there's not even one actual rib to be found. It’s an area rife with such incredible places for fried chicken such as L.L. Dent in Carle Place, Zorn's all over the place, and Maple Tree BBQ in Riverhead ... and you still eat fast food chicken? You probably think Papa John's is “pizza,” too.

Easily ranked among the most popular standup comedians in the history of The NYCB Theatre At Westbury is Sinbad, whose string of appearances at the famed theater in the round has led to return shows and packed houses for years. So it’s no surprise that the stylish comic will return to the area on Saturday, April 2 at 8 pm, naturally at The NYCB Theatre at Westbury. Tickets are on sale now, and are available now online at ticketmaster.com, charge by phone at (800) 745-3000, or at the Westbury box office located on Brush Hollow Road. For more information, visit thetheatreatwestbury.com. Sinbad's latest comedy special for Comedy Central, Make Me Wanna Holla, is available now on DVD at Amazon.com and virtualy everywhere movies are sold. It wasn't all that long ago that this actor and comedian arrived on the scene with a "hit 'em in the face" style of comedy that has kept audiences laughing in the aisles for the past two decades. He freely admits that he doesn't know any jokes except for the ones that his dad told him "back in the day." The basis of his humor comes from everyone he's met, everything he's seen, and everything he's done. Ranked by Comedy Central as one of the top 100 standup comedians of all time, Sinbad has built a loyal following by taking the painful trials and embarassing tribulations of day-by-day life and throwing them back into his audiences' faces. Although he's not any kind of choirboy, Sinbad is the son of a preacher,

Sinbad

and he decided to keep his comedy

Sailing clean after his father attended one of early performances. Up until that Back To his time, he had described his own NYCB Theatre comedic style as "semi-dirty." Sinbad At says that he learned that night that is funny," and noted that Westbury "funny masters of dirty comedy – such as

Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce – had all been able to work clean without losing a step. Sinbad has also drawn fans from his HBO comedy specials "Brain Damaged" (1991), "Afros & Bellbottoms" (1993), "Son Of A Preacher Man" (1996), and "Nuthin' But The Funk" (1998). His HBO music concert series, "Sinbad's 70s Soul Music Festival," received the NAACP Image Award for consecutive two years as the Most Outstanding Variety Series/Special. He's also known for his appearances in hit movies such as "Jingle All the Way," in which he played opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, and "Houseguest," which co-starred former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Phil Hartman. Later, Sinbad was also a cast member of the TV sitcom "A Different World," which premiered in 1986, as well as his own series, "The Sinbad Show," which ran in the mid-90s. More recently, he was a regular on “Celebrity Apprentice.” Live standup, however, remains this legend’s forte, and its that rare skill with audiences of all ages that keeps him an “A-list” headliner.

Who: Bursting out of the gates with raw energy and high spirits, Pocketphuzz is a blues, jazz, and funk-inspired rock big band with members from throughout Long Island – all of whom are still in their teens. Given their vast array of influences and talents, their sound belies their scant ages; already, the group has performed at many of the area’s top venues, including Revolution in Amityville, The Blue Parrot in Massapequa, Katie's Of Smithtown, D.S. Shanahan's and Past Times in Kings Park, T.J. Halpin’s in Centereach, The North Tap in Mt. Sinai, and more. The “Phuzz,” as their fans refer to them, consists of bassist Matthew Vicari, singer Julianna Gape, guitarist Zack Silverberg, keyboardist and trumpet player Nicholas Barone, trombonist Blake Carey, and drummer, percussionist, and vocalist Jager Soss. The Artists & Their Sound: “We play blues, funk, jazz, and jam music, including covers and originals,” said Soss in describing this unique band. “Our style is a fusion of New Orleans funk, Allman Brothers jams, and heartfelt soul; we even rock a little Jackson Five and Stevie Wonder. We have only been together since June and we have already played about 15 live shows ... Some of our originals include the songs ‘More Rhythm, Less War’ and ‘Be Yourself.’” Both songs can now be heard on the band’s website. Our Take: Upon a listen to this group without seeing it, it is hard to believe that the musicians’ ages range from just 15 to 17. Displaying strong creatve command and a range of influences far beyond their tender years, Pocketphuzz offers up such a sweeping musical palate that the group has to be heard to be appreciated. It would be unfair to describe this act as a “jam band” – this is a group that swings from rock to funk to soul to jazz to pop without missing a beat ... and they manage to be an absolute good time all the while. – Bob Smith To Learn More About The Artists: For news of upcoming performances and recordings for Pocketphuzz, log on to pocketphuzz.com, or find them at Facebook, Twitter, and on Instagram at #pocketphuzz.

The First Superstar Producer: This seems to be the year of classic rock “rest in peace” wishes. No one is getting any younger, but there does seems to be a deluge of passings since the end of 2015 and the new year's first light. The name of George Martin is one that will forever be

and, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson have gone on to become very successful singers – but for the most part, the show is a vanity project for creator Simon Cowell. Thankfully, “Idol” is wrapping up its last season, a lackluster victim of diminished ratings. Sticking around is NBC’s still-popular "The Voice," which will eventually bite the dust in the same fashion as “Idol.” So where’s the music? These days, MTV offers a series of reality-type stunts shows (“Catfish” and the properly titled "Ridiculousness"), sometimes seemingly running for an entire day,

associated with The Beatles; as a producer, A&R, and counsel, he was a prime factor in the band's signing, their sound, and the progress they made as artists in the studio (remember recording studios?) as the years went on. Martin was the type of classic, important character that just does not seem to emerge any longer, probably because of how the music business itself has changed so dramatically – and certainly not for the better. Tube Music: Television has always played a major role in how pop music makes its way into the public psyche; it is certainly how The Beatles became the monolith that they remain 50 years after making their first impact. Shows such as “Shindig” and “Hullabaloo” in the ’60s and “Solid Gold” and “Soul Train” in the ’70s were major forces where record sales and new trends were concerned, and Dick Clark's “American Bandstand” was there from the very beginning. Of course, next came the ’80s and MTV (back when music was the network’s priority). In the 2000s, the role music on TV took a turn for the worse with “American Idol,” a product of karaoke

Adam Lambert

and social media; unique personalities, bands, and trends were gone, and the “selfie” era had arrived. “Idol” resulted in similar shows popping up on competing networks, and the onslaught began. Record deals and stardom were promised, but with a few exceptions, it was all smoke and mirrors. Sure, it was good to discover the awesome Adam Lambert (who didn't win the competition, but did win stardom),

George Martin

probably a victim of budget slashing due to MTV's deserved low ratings) – and then there's “Teen Wolf." What a sad situation it all has turned into. MTV's sister station, VH1, has become the urban hip hop choice, and is somewhat hipper than MTV itself, but not by much. The music still takes a backseat to lifestyle programs, a trend that’s burning out faster than these networks seem to realize. They would be better off devoting time to the current obsession with comic book/fantasy entertainment, which is very “now” and bringing in big bucks at the box office and in merchandising. The biggest current buzz for young people (and some of us older ones) is the massive international success of Deadpool and the imminent arrivals of Batman v Superman and Captain America: Civil War. These type of events and the cosplay that comes along with them all has become the new rock & roll for many young people, and the MTV/VH1 folks are asleep at the wheel. Wake up!
