The book project "schwarz.rot.gold" is based on my surprise how the relationship of the Germans towards their national flag changed during the last years iniciated by the 2006 World Championship. I have been shooting these images for over one and a half year during my travellings through Germany. I have been collecting about 130 series, each about 20 to 30 images. The series presented in the book consist of 24 equal frames of 24 different pictures of one location. The concept was to catch the changing positions of the flag in a fixed frame. The double pages showing 24 variations of a location with a flag create a new architecture. I found it fascinating to collect all the different places, where the flag suddenly appeared. An English journalist stated that from now on the Germans were to become normal Europeans, as "crazy" as all the others to show and wave their national flag.
