What is the hardest part of your job?

The hardest bit of my job is probably dealing with the myriad of new and expanding regulations and standards which emerge year on year. Luckily in KPMG we have a great technical team who train us through this and great colleagues who I can consult with on a regular basis whenever I have any questions. Having a range of wonderful colleagues to consult with (both locally and across our global network) is one of the aspects of KPMG that I value the most - it helps foster coaching and mentorship and is an important part of our inclusive culture.

Is there a female who inspires you in business?

There are many! Without being too cheesy it is the women who I work with on a daily basis rather than one individual person. Whether it’s the people I work with who demonstrate quality and excellence in their work, my friends who have chosen completely different career paths and who are thriving through delivering on their passions, or those women who perhaps have suffered bereavement, have difficult home situations, are juggling motherhood with demanding careers but who – through all their challenges – are motivated, supportive and excelling in their roles.

What is your career highlight, so far?

Most recently, my promotion to Audit Director. This was the culmination of studying for an exam (after not taking an exam in ten years!), an interview panel, and a quality review of my work. After all went well I was then promoted to director. This was a significant milestone in my career and one I am extremely proud to have taken. Prior to that it was the year I spent on secondment to KPMG in the Cayman Islands – where I took on the challenge of new clients, new colleagues and a very different culture and work environment, all while enjoying the year round sunshine and sandy beaches!
