HERE’S GALLERY’S GUIDE ON WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR WORKOUT

With every new year comes a new wave of fitness frenzy - self confessed over indulgers hell bent on winding back the endless mince pies and tins upon tins of Quality Streets. And whilst we don’t disagree with fitness resolutions and aspirations of five gym classes a week, we believe healthy living should be a year long affair rather than something clutched at in the first months of the year but quickly forgotten by Easter. So if you’re in the camp of long term fitness doers, here are our picks on what to wear for your workout. From pilates to pushups and post-class smoothies, these are the gym garms to buy now.

Bj Rn Borg

Shortly after retiring from his successful tennis career, Björn Borg transitioned from sportsman to fashion designer creating a clothing collection focused on tech fabrics that are as eye-catching as his tennis records. Often coined as a rock’n’roll star draped in tennis clothes, it’s no surprise that Björn’s collection is great. Think retro-inspired patterns and colours applied to modern fits. Take the Borg Crop tank, the navy and white stripes are reminiscent of the American varsity style clothing Borg wore on court in the 1970s but its been modernised with a handy phone pocket designed into the racerback.

Borg crop tank blue - £30

Loose tank grey- £30

Varley

Varley is the cool girl brand when it comes to fashion fitness. Think contemporary and chic activewear you could get away with wearing outside of gym hours. The current collection hits all the right fashion notes in this season's colour palette of cream, caramel and chocolate brown. Pick up a muted animal print crop top and team with a heavy cable knit sweater, the perfect after class layer.

The brand's biggest marketing message is to empower women through fitnesswhat’s not to love about that. One of the first UK fitness brands to produce plus size clothing for curvy gym-goers, Sweaty Betty's most sold product is their Power Leggings, with one pair sold every 60 seconds. Get your hands on a pair, or for something a bit snazzier take a gander at the huge range of colours and patterned bottoms on offer in Voisins now. We love the navy sparkling seamless gym leggings, which come with a matching crop top and would look great with the Pathfinder Jacket.

Fast forward 20 odd years and the tech behind those underlayers remains but the collection has expanded to include everything you’d need to wear to workout. Technicality meets trendy for this season's collection, with neon shades of orange and pink slashing across shorts and tees. There’s plenty of black and navy on offer too for those wanting something a little less loud.
