Cartier is introducing the latest addition to its collection of handbags, with its iconic image of the panther giving a salute to femininity and sophistication.
The Panthère de Cartier Bag is an elegant and luxurious accessory that adopts the classic Cartier symbol of the panther, originally created by Jeanne Toussaint when she was the luxury brand’s creative director in the 1940s. The magnetic figure of the panther thereafter went on to be an emblem of Cartier jewellery. The trapezoid-shaped bag embraces a minimalistic and structured design. The square flap, the strong but graceful handle and the rounded metal shape of a panther exude an image of femininity, power and sophistication with the purity and realism of its lines and the immaculate accuracy of its proportions. The C shape of the buckle was created in close collaboration between Cartier’s design studio and its High Jewellery sculptors. It reflects @cartier

The classy bag, which has been made with the most advanced and intricate materials, can be worn over the shoulder or carried by hand. Chopard unveils a paradise of rare gemstones that pay tribute to nature, an endless source of inspiration to the maison.
The world of fine gems has been gifted new inspiration as Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director, Caroline Scheufele, presents the brand’s Exceptional Stones collection. Among these treasured stones is the Chopard Insofu Emerald, the most spectacular gem of them all – a 6,225-carat rough emerald mined in Zambia and the object of a traceability and responsibility process. Due to the exceptional purity and record size of the Chopard Insofu Emerald, specialists expect it to yield many high-quality cut stones, from which the Chopard workshops will create a collection of jewellery pieces.
The collection brings precious stones brought back from the four corners of the Earth. It includes some unique specimens, such as a 3.01-carat, pear-shaped, D-Internally Flawless, type IIA diamond and a 4.22-carat, pear-shaped, fancy intense blue diamond – a rare carat weight for a stone of such colour. The duo is set on a majestic ‘Toi et Moi’ ring representing a unique symbol of the union of two equally beautiful gems. The 10.88-carat fancy intense pink diamond reflects the passion for coloured diamonds harboured by the maison’s creative soul that gives the name to the piece – Rose of Caroline. The radiant-cut diamond is placed in a Fairmined-certified ethical gold ring.
A fancy dark grey-greenish, yellow diamond, that owes its Chameleon nickname to its ability to change colour depending on its exposure to light or heat, is a breathtaking 31.31-carat stone destined to be majestically set on a mischievous frog-shaped ring.

CHANEL’s Spring-Summer 2022 collection was inspired by the beauty of this legendary home. The light that embraces La Pausa during this time of the year is the central theme that guided the brand’s Makeup Creation Studio to create the new palettes.
ROUGE COCO BAUME is the main release of this collection. A lip care product with unique sensory qualities, combining the colour provided by a lipstick with the moisturising benefits of a cream. The Celine Haute Parfumerie adds Rimbaud to their day collection of fragrant bouquets. The fragrance embodies the themes of identity beyond gender and the essence of youth and fragility, as well as the French spirit and its cultural roots. It especially pays tribute to French literature and poetry, which are vital parts of the brand’s artistic vision. The character in this new scent is French poet Arthur Rimbaud, hence the perfume’s name.
Created by Hedi Slimane, Celine’s Creative, Artistic and Image Director, it incorporates two important scents. Lavender’s aromatic grace and delicate freshness directly contrast with iris’ exuberance and robustness, creating an interesting paradox and duality, signalling introverted craftsmanship and olfactory fragility as the scent clings lightly to the skin.
Lavender has been an ingredient in the brand’s perfumes since their Privée collection in 2004. With its vivacious and subtle textures, this element is the ultimate archetype for masculine fragrances. The flower is harvested in July and August and gives off its scent when blooming. The gentle and subdued scent of iris comes out beautifully in this edition. The orris, a specific part of the iris, is collected from the roots. It takes six years to obtain the essential oil known in perfumery as ‘Orris Butter’. The rarity of the crop and the time it takes to get this special essential oil make it all the more precious.
The bottle’s rectangular shape is a salute to the French art of glassmaking. The shape is decorated on both sides with sharpedged fluting and adorned with a black lacquer cap. OHLALA’s Fernanda Langhammer visited Dessange Paris Bahrain to indulge in the Sweet Serenity Package – an ode to relaxing and repairing your back, face, hair and nails.
March is the month when we celebrate women and Dessange has created the perfect gift for some of the most valuable women in our lives – our mums! The Sweet Serenity Package brings specially curated treatments. The fantastic pampering session starts at the spa with a wonderful back massage and Dessange Express Facial and moves to the salon for a manicure and KEVIN.MURPHY hair treatment.
As a mum myself, I felt that this selection of therapies hit the right spot and I was excited to press pause and embrace all the love and care that the Dessange team has to offer. The smiley ladies at the reception handed me my locker key. As I know their beautiful villa very well, I went to get myself changed into their super comfy robe and fluffy slippers to start my queen’s session (because, of course, I am the queen of my little home kingdom). I stepped inside the spa area, and Erci, my therapist, waited for me. I met Erci a while ago and was excited to have her treating me once again. The therapy room was beautifully decorated with an orchid, dim lights and serene music. We started with the back massage that involves aromatic and hand therapy. But before I relaxed on the warm bed, she gave me three oils to choose from. She told me to use my senses to pick the right smell that would tackle what my body and mind were in need of. I chose the calming scent (as I believe most mums will!). The other options are balancing and uplifting aromas. The calming oil was applied to my back, and the same scent emanated into the air.
I laid down and Erci started with the most thorough back massage I have ever had, dealing with all my back issues – removing the knots and loosening my stiff muscles. I felt the tension leaving this troubled area, and the scent just enhanced the experience. After 30 minutes, she asked me to turn and it was time for my facial therapy.

Authentic cuisine and family recipes are part of Sima Mohamad Jabbary’s successful Shahnameh Restaurant. OHLALA chatted with the entrepreneur for a glimpse into her work.
OHLALA - When and how did you discover your passion for cooking?
Sima Mohamad Jabbary – I was around the age of 16 and, other than perfecting boiling an egg, I was inspired by a friends’ mother that used to cook delicious macaroni béchamel. I took it as a challenge to cook the same dish, if not better! That was when my passion for perfection in cooking started, which led to a culinary career, dedicating my time, experimenting and presenting what I like to call art.
OHLALA - Why have you decided to open Shahnameh Restaurant? Aren’t family recipes supposed to be kept as a secret?
Sima – I supported my family through cooking at home and offering catering services. With God’s blessings and my parents’ help, along with the encouragement and support of my young adult children, we decided to take up the adventure to open Shahnameh Restaurant to serve the best home-cooked and authentic Iranian cuisine. The recipes we use shall remain a family secret. However, our clients have the pleasure to relish our secret ingredients and unique creations.
OHLALA - What is comfort food for you? Do you have any personal favourite dishes?
Sima – Comfort food is the one that brings happy memories and emotional comfort stimulated by our senses. To me, the dishes that best represent comfort food are Tahdig (a Persian way of cooking rice, leaving a crispy bottom. Tahdig actually means the bottom of the cooking pot) and Macarona Khaloo Zaman (a pasta delicacy). And
my personal favourite dish is my perfected secret recipe for a popular rice dish called Tahchin which we proudly serve at Shahnameh Restaurant.
OHLALA - Which dishes do you think customers must try at your restaurant?
Sima – I always encourage others to stimulate the senses with flavours that they haven’t had before. Regarding the Shahnameh Restaurant menu, we have a variety of dishes that are uncommon in the restaurants of Bahrain, and we are always open to customers’ personal requests.
OHLALA - What message do you want to spread with your food?
Sima – Eat, drink and be merry. Experiencing food is enjoying it and creating memories. And I believe that quality must never be compromised.
OHLALA - Apart from cooking and running a restaurant business, what else do you love doing that not many people know about?
Sima – I enjoy gardening. I like providing some ingredients for Shahnameh Restaurant dishes with my garden produce. It also pleases me to help and share with the needy, care for all and plant for a greener future

With the turning of the season and the coming of spring, many of you will be looking to reorganise your wardrobes. We spoke to Shelina Jokhiya from DeCluttr Me to provide you with the best guide to this task.
Before even thinking about how to reorganise your wardrobe, you must think about decluttering. According to Shelina from DeCluttr Me (a company of professional organisers that help to declutter and arrange homes and offices) decluttering isn’t only about transforming your space but also your mental health.
A build-up of clutter and possessions can become a significant source of stress; tackling it properly enables people to live more relaxed, motivated, and productive lives. Studies published in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin have shown that minimalistic exercise helps lessen the likelihood of depression, while studies conducted by Princeton University have shown decluttering leads to reduced stress and increased focus. Plus, donating your clothes to people who may need them is highly sustainable and contributes to an attitude of giving and can help you appreciate the things you do have even more.
Shelina recommends using the: “Buy one, get rid of two rule: when you buy something new, get into the habit of clearing out two existing items (preferably in the same bracket as what you have purchased). So, if you buy one dress, declutter two dresses from your wardrobe.” She recommends: “Decluttering every quarter to clear space in your wardrobe and reviewing your winter clothes every year as you’re unlikely to need 20 thick jumpers in this region. Place the winter clothes you want to keep in boxes or unused suitcases on the top shelf of your closet.”
The central question for many when it comes to wardrobes is the determining factor for ordering their things. Should one go by style? Colour? Type? Shelina says it all comes down to personal preference. One must be able to determine what is most important to them. She says: “It is all about how people live their day-to-day lives. So, if they do a lot of sports or go to the office, those clothes should be the ones that are easily accessible. Once the items are categorised, they can be arranged by colour and then style. Additionally, when doing it by colour, you can clearly see what you have too much of, as well as any colours that are an anomaly and can be removed. Don’t make the systems too complicated. Instead, aim to keep your categories simple so that you can find any item in five seconds.”
When it comes to these very prized and delicate companions of ours, we often get stuck at deciding where to place them. Again, Shelina says it is up to each individual. “Some prefer them to be in their closet, especially fancier shoes. I prefer mine to be by the door in a shoe cabinet, so it’s quick and easy to find shoes for my outfit before I leave the house.” So, since most of us have some very special pairs and since we tend to pile up shoes in the shoe cabinet where they can get damaged and dusty, it may be best to store that special footwear in the wardrobe where they are safe and leave other everyday wear in the shoe cabinet by the door.
For most, outfits are not just the clothes we wear; they are also the jewellery, watches, scarves, and ties we adorn ourselves with. It is, therefore, important we keep a special place for them in our wardrobes. Shelina recommends compartmentalising to keep these items organised and in order: “If you have space to have accessory dividers in your drawers, then use them, as they can be very helpful when organising your accessories. Use boxes or drawers for belts, scarves and shawls, and jewellery boxes for jewellery. Always try to repurpose storage solutions from things you already have rather than spending money on new ones.”
No drawers?
For those unfortunate enough to not have any drawers in their wardrobes, Shelina urges you to opt for storage containers and boxes: “If you have shelves, use boxes to store your clothes neatly. The boxes act like surrogate drawers. If you have a lot of hanging space, hang your tops, trousers, dresses, etc. The only things that shouldn’t be hung are woolly and delicate items.” For most women, long precious gowns and beautiful party dresses are part of their attire and must be stored safely in the wardrobe. For these prized items, Shelina recommends you: “Double hang using two hangers or fold them in half and hang.”
No hanging space?
For those who have very minimal or no hanging space, Shelina recommends prioritising items and controlling your purchases: “Obviously buy less, so you have less to fit in the wardrobe. Then, if you have shelving or drawers, fold tops, T-shirts, trousers and jeans and put them in these spaces. Leave any hanging space you do have for dresses, suits, blazers and abayas.”
Efferve-scent
Scents can be the cherry on the cake when it comes to our wardrobes and can put us in a great mood when opening those closet doors. Shelina recommends using “perfumed wax tablets or lavender sachets” to make sure the storehouses of our most precious items are well-fragranced.

Mumbai is famous – or infamous, some might argue – for its overcrowded streets, the headache-inducing bustle of cabs and rikshaws, its suffocatingly polluted air and its loudmouthed inhabitants. On the brighter side, it is also known for its piquant and delectable curries and chicken tikkas imbued with aromatic spices, colourful saris, active film industry, and vibrant festivals. The city, once an archipelago of seven islands, is saturated with a rich historical past. The Elephanta Caves is a primary example of this. Located on the small island of Gharapuri, the 5th-century caves showcase the sevenmetre masterpiece named Sadashiva, flaunting three carved faces of the Hindu Lord Shiva.
The city’s most prized monument is the grandiose Gateway of India, which was erected in 1911 to commemorate the landing of King George V and his wife Queen Mary. The Gateway was finished years later in 1924 and was thereafter utilised as a symbolic formal entrance to India for the Viceroys and the new Governors of Bombay.
The Taj Mahal Palace [hotel], an admired national landmark and renowned architectural gem, towers the Gateway in the background, with its pinkish, rust-coloured domes emanating a sense of Indian tradition, resilience and charm.
Mumbai is esteemed for its collection of architectural and historical buildings, recognised as World Heritage sites by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Bahrain in 2018. The buildings were thereafter named the Victorian and Art Deco Ensemble of Mumbai.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus is a prime example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture fused with classic Indian designs and is one of the buildings listed in the Victorian Ensemble, making it a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built from 1878 to 1887, its name changed from Victoria Terminus in 1996 as a way for the Indians to go back to their roots.
Opposite the station is the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, known as BMC, another Victorian UNESCO site, built in 1865. Seen towering above the two buildings is the Rajabai Clock Tower, another UNESCO site, more than 140 years old and standing at a height of 85m radiating an image of everlasting strength.
The Art Deco buildings of Mumbai feature the second largest collection of Art Deco sites in the world, after Miami. The sites are mainly located on the east side of the Oval Maidan. These include the Eros Cinema, Marine Drive (a seafront and promenade also known as the Queen’s Necklace), as well as privately owned residences.
St. Thomas Cathedral and Fort was built over 300 years ago and visited by the King and Queen in 1911. Nearby lies the Flora Fountain, built in 1864 of Portland stone and named after Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers and spring, whose statue adorns the top of the fountain.
Apart from St. Thomas Cathedral, Mumbai houses many other religious places of worship, including the famous Haji Ali Dargah, a 400-year-old floating complex and a prized sanctuary for the Muslims in the city. The Shree Siddhivinayak Ganpati Mandir and Shree Mahalakshmi Mandir are of equally great importance to local communities who frequent these cherished monuments, built in 1801 and 1831 respectively.
An absolute must-visit, especially for those enthusiastic about modern Indian history, is Mani Bhavan, a modest two-storey building, located on Laburnum Road, known as the ‘epicentre of India’s struggle for freedom’. It was originally the office of the heroic leader Mahatma Gandhi between 1917 and 1934 and is now a museum and memorial dedicated to the great liberator.
The
Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly the Prince of Wales Museum, is another impressive location as well as an Indo-Saracenic Victorian World Heritage site, featuring artefacts from the Indus Valley civilisation, Buddhist sculptures from the Maurya Empire and jewellery pieces from the Mughal Empire. Other museums include the Dr Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum and the RBI Monetary Museum. For art lovers and appreciators, head down to the National Gallery of Modern Art (a Neo-classical Victorian World Heritage site) and the Jehangir Art Gallery, where you will find installations featuring well-known local and international artists.
Mumbai is a place full of people with different ethnicities and backgrounds. You will find a blend of multiple communities, including Hindus, Parsis, Muslims, Sindhis and Gujaratis. Hence, there is no dearth of cuisines and restaurants. For a taste of traditional food, visit Café Madras, Shree Thaker Bhojanalay, and Lotus Restaurant.
A host of classic vintage Mumbai cafés is still functioning in the city, such as Leopold Café. Established in 1871, this endearing nook possesses a certain charm and offers a splendid mix of different cuisines. Others include Café Churchill and Britannia & Co. Mumbai’s famous Iranian cafés and bakeries include the iconic B. Merwan & Co., Kyani & Co., and Yazdani Restaurant & Bakery.
For special road-side snacks and fried goodies, visit Khau Galli, where you will find anything from charcoal-grilled corn on the cob, roasted peanuts in newspaper cups, fresh cane juice, frankies and toasties, samosa, bhel puri, pau bhaji, and yummy sandwiches. Check. And don’t forget to try hot masala chai while you are at it.
March is a good month to be in this vibrant city packed with festivities and fun events, including The Jio MAMI, Mumbai’s renowned film festival taking place from March 11 to 15, as well as the Holi Festival of Colours, an ancient Hindu celebration of spring where people come together in the streets and throw paint on each other, taking place on March 18. The Ganpati festival and Diwali are other important festivals taking place in September and October respectively.

Tapas was the order of the day as Liz O’Reilly checked out the new brunch at Salero.
Ihave to confess, brunch has been a long way from my thoughts since the beginning of the pandemic. But, when an invitation arrived to try the new tapas brunch at Salero, I was just too tempted to say no. I’d actually forgotten how much I love driving up to The Westin City Centre Bahrain, valeting my car and walking into that cavernous lobby with its feeling of stylish calm – from the outset, it feels like a real treat and brings back memories of glasses of bubbly during girly shopping trips – before the world went mad.
A whoosh in the lift and I found myself greeting the multi-coloured papier mache bull who guards the door of Salero, the hotel’s chic but informal Spanish dining restaurant. Inside, we were just a few, gathered to try the new tapas brunch which will run until April 2 and will then be back with a roar straight after Ramadan.
Quickly seated and clutching glasses of delicious virgin sangria, we didn’t know what to expect but the first round of these delicious little Spanish bites soon arrived. Laid out on long wooden serving boards was a feast for both the eyes and taste buds.
We quickly tucked into toasted bread with fresh tomato sauce and garlic, a familiar mix of flavours that set us up for the rest of the offerings. The first platter also included classic Spanish potato salad, deliciously creamy and actually rather filling, despite the small portion size, thanks to the inclusion of egg and tuna.
I surprised myself by trying and really enjoying the Mussels in Escabeche, poached mussels and confit with thyme, garlic, onion, carrots, olive oil and grape vinegar. I try to avoid most types of shellfish and usually find the texture of mussels rubbery, slightly slimy and off-putting. But these had been de-shelled and cooked to perfection, introducing an almost meaty consistency bursting with all those poached-in flavours. I actually went back for a second bite.
Both myself and my dining companion were blown away by the Gazpacho Andalùz, the traditional Spanish cold tomato soup but created with a twist. Gazpacho is usually red but this was green, colour and additional flavours coming from spinach and apple. Slightly salty with a delightfully fresh tang, we just couldn’t get enough of it and one tiny pot was simply not sufficient.
But, let me explain, that’s the beauty of this tapas-style brunch. You will be served portion after portion of these small tasters and, when you find something you really like, you just order more of it (and more and more in our case). Bravo!
As our first board was cleared, my confused (and obviously disappointed) friend asked: “Is that it, is that the full selection?” She could not have been more wrong. Within minutes another board arrived bursting with new flavour combinations.
Spanish Omelette, light and fluffy with added interest from the slightly metallic hint of spinach; cured anchovies with seasoned tomatoes on toasted baguette – I simply adore this flavour combination, the salty, almost brackishness of the fish coupled with the bursting fresh sweetness of the tomatoes is a winner that screams Mediterranean, I could almost taste the early morning atmosphere of a tiny seaside market from my last Spanish sojourn. And sautéed mushrooms and truffle topped with goat cheese – be still my beating heart. The mushrooms were just the right side of cooked through, leaving the flesh firm and the subtle flavour intact, while the surprise of the goat cheese added salt and a light crunch. Perfect. The hot tapas were equally impressive. I particularly loved the beef meatball served in a beef and almond gravy. High quality meat made crunchy on the outside, pink and juicy inside, the gravy providing an unfamiliar dash of nutty sweetness to complement the gamey taste of the flesh.
Iberian Benedict Eggs was another favourite, the use of Iberian ham on a sourdough roll base adding a little something exotic and interesting to a familiar dish.
My dining companion was in raptures over the selection of fried chunks of cuttle fish and shrimp each offered with a dip and lemon. She said that, for these alone, she would return with her husband who would be over the moon to find a representation of their Brazilian homeland. For myself, I was more than happy to consume indecent amounts of fried calamari rings, crispy batter yielding to the perfect rings of flesh within.
And then it was the turn of the piece de resistance. Paella, prepared in pans specially imported from Spain for their thin bottom, which allows the bomba rice to cook perfectly without sticking. The chef brought out two of these pans for us to serve ourselves, one chicken and one vegetable. In honesty, I was already full but the aromatic steam wafting through the air made abstention impossible and I tried a small serving of each. My favourite was the vegetable version. Total and utter comfort food, the juices of the veggies imbued in the fat, round grains of rice. I have decided that Paella is like eating a hug!
Desserts had been specially decorated for us with the logos of OHLALA and our sister publication FACT, so it would have been hard to resist. And, to be honest, we needed little encouragement to dig in since my friend had been eyeing the traditional churros with hot chocolate sauce since we arrived. She was not disappointed with the crunchy outer that melted into the soft, yielding interior. I went for the fresh strawberry mini tartelette, simply because I adore the creamy Chantilly cream that nestled beneath the fruit, the height of indulgence and the perfect way to end one of the most exciting and interesting brunches I’ve ever experienced.
A wise man once said: “Life without tapas, is like a heart without love,” and having tried the new tapas brunch at Salero, I’m inclined to agree.

As spring approaches in the northern hemisphere, it is a good time to reflect on ways to renew our wellbeing. Wellness means different things to different people, and there is a wide variety of things that give us joy and peace in our minds.
It is also a perfect time to restore our minds by spending time with nature. After being confined inside, not just during the winter period but also after the long pandemic we had to endure, it is important to find outdoor spaces that make you pause and breathe deeply.
A guest in our resort asked my husband and me which were our favourite places on the island. My husband’s answer was the Sunrise beach as he loves looking out at the water; it brings calmness into his hectic life. Mine is walking through our organic vegetable and herb plantation and seeing the slight differences and growth that happens daily. Both spaces feed the soul and offer a peaceful place for reflection.
This spring, I encourage you to carve out time in schedules packed with work, juggling family commitments and all the other things that crowd our time to find that place, or thing, that makes you pause. That allows you to breathe. Also, move a little more to make your muscles relax and have fresh blood flow. This is vital in revitalising your body. Of course, for me, wellness is intrinsically linked with food. Spring is a great time to cleanse our bodies of the heavier foods that are often eaten in colder months. Consider some cleansing tonics that include citrus, turmeric and coconut charcoal. If you don’t already start your day with warm water and lemon juice, this could be a great new start. The flower season brings wellness through food by giving us a bounty of fresh vegetables such as delicate lettuce and crunchy asparagus. In desert countries, many fruits, such as avocado, flourish. This is the perfect time of year for nourishing our bodies with the vitamins and minerals fresh produce gives. Seaweed is a great companion to fresh foods, offering a plethora of health benefits.
Ingredients:
80g fresh tuna
40g avocado
2g chopped spring onion
Lime zest and juice
Salt and pepper
Dill and sliced radish to garnish
Seaweed Tartare
10g wakame seaweed dried
5g capers
2g nori sheets
5g spring onion
Green oil
100ml olive oil
Small bunch of parsley
Method:
To make the seaweed tartare, soak the nori and wakame in water until soft. Drain and chop the ingredients together. Dice the tuna and place in a bowl with lime zest and juice; add salt and the chopped spring onion. To make the green oil, blend olive oil and parsley together and fine strain. Chop the avocado and lightly mash with a fork, add salt, pepper and lime juice. Arrange the avocado in a round shape on the plate. On top, place the tuna and the chopped seaweed in the middle. Add the garnish dill tips, red radish thinly sliced and dribble the green oil around the dish.
PS.: This recipe is also delicious as an avocado tartare, with fresh lime juice squeezed on top, for those following a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle.

In 1948, an unknown visionary named Ferdinand Porsche began producing the first of his creations, the Porsche 356. Employing a mere 200 workers and producing only 52 cars in a humble garage, he couldn’t have known at the time just how legendary his label would soon become. Today, Porsche is recognised as one of the most successful motor vehicle manufacturers on the planet and their logo has become synonymous with both luxury and high performance. Amongst Porsche’s vast array of superior offerings is the celebrated Macan range. First unveiled in 2014, the Macan has not only enjoyed commercial success but has received an array of accolades from within the industry for its outstanding design. Now, in 2022, Porsche have recently unveiled their latest generation Macan range and OHLALA was fortunate enough to receive an invitation from Porsche Centre Bahrain to test drive this latest import.
The 2022 Porsche Macan is a five-door luxury crossover SUV whose very presence made us ache with longing to get behind the wheel. The superlative designers of this deluxe vehicle have created a sporty, robust and refined machine that looks fantastic whether on the roads or parked in a garage. The visual components have been sharpened, ensuring it is even more striking than its predecessor. The nose has been redesigned and now features an inlay in the exterior colour, emphasising the Macan’s breadth and adding to its imposing presence. This fetching feature is complemented by the new body coloured air intakes that lead the eye towards the flowing lines of the flanks. The side blades now include a 3D structured element, whilst the 21-inch alloy wheels hint at the vehicle’s on-road intentions. The back end has been rounded off towards the road by a prominent and technically designed diffuser that sits perfectly above the twin trapezoidal tailpipes. All-in-all, the exterior is a true testament to the superior skills of the Porsche Macan design team.

As far as the noticeably enhanced interior is concerned, we could easily go on about Porsche’s use of exquisite materials throughout the vehicle, the intricate attention to every detail, the perfectly designed and positioned steering wheel, the elegant structure of the new centre console, the impressive ergonomic layout of all buttons, dials and features as well as the adjustable, supportive and uber comfortable front seats but, in truth, it was the infotainment system that held our attention. This system is one of the most responsive and user-friendly setups we have experienced. The remarkable resolution of the 10.9-inch full HD touch display is crystal clear and we could always see the screen perfectly, even during the midday sun. This responsive and practical system allowed us easy access to all the vehicle’s features and functions, helping to fully immerse us in the 2022 Macan experience. This infotainment arrangement also provides wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay, superior navigation and an impressive 10-speaker sound system.
Finally, it was time for the tarmac! Needless to say, we were exceptionally keen to get this beauty out onto the roads to see what she could do. The latest generation Macan houses a newly developed, turbocharged, fourcylinder engine that produces 195kW of power. This combined with the seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system, enables this model to power from 0-100km/h in a respectable 6.2 seconds and to reach a top speed of 232km/h. We could immediately feel the superior performance of this latest model over the last generation. The acceleration is far more responsive and the drive quality is much smoother thanks to the sport air suspension. Other notable features include the car’s superb Drivetrain Traction Control, as well as the ABS braking system that allows the driver to safely navigate through the trickiest of conditions. Importantly, Porsche have also managed to successfully reduce the Macan’s CO2 footprint. Always keeping the wellbeing of you and your loved ones at the forefront of their creations, Porsche have included a multitude of both safety and performance features in the new Macan. These include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), cruise control, lane departure warning, hill control, a tyre pressure warning system, lane departure warning, outboard front lap and shoulder safety belts, ParkAssist with front and rear parking sensors, a back-up camera, side impact beams, airbags throughout the vehicle and so much more.
