Leave the car at home and bike to work! To celebrate bicycling for transportation, fun and health, Colorado has designated June as Bike Month. While there will be many events around the state throughout the month, the highlight of the month is Bike to Work Day, when employees leave their cars at home and enjoy bicycling to work. Breakfast Station: A breakfast station will be provided at the Community Recreation Center for anyone riding their bike to work on Wednesday, June 26th. The station will be open from 6am–8am. Staff from Spokes Bicycle Shop will be on hand to offer repair/ help to riders who stop by. Fresh fruit, granola bars and other healthy snacks will be provided for FREE! Jun 26 6–8am CRC

Arbor Day 5K Run/Walk The Town of Windsor Tree Board will host the 8th Annual Arbor Day 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 20th. The race will start and finish at Boardwalk Park and follow the Windsor Lake Trail. Proceeds will go towards planting trees throughout the community. Leashed dogs are welcome. Preregister and save money or register on dayof beginning at 7am. Fee includes a t-shirt (while supplies last). Awards will be given to the top runners/walkers.

Walking Levels for Trips and Tours

The following Walking Levels will be assigned to each Active Adult trip or tour to help you decide which trips and tours are suitable for you. Each level is based upon research done by staff. The Windsor Community Recreation Center reserves the right to change levels if necessary when additional information becomes available. Walking Levels: Easy: Minimal walking, primarily flat surfaces. Moderate: Difficult:

To fully participate there may be leisurely walking over primarily even surfaces and some uneven surfaces, standing may be required and possibly a few stairs.

To fully participate there may be extended periods of walking over even and uneven surfaces and some incline. There may be steps and extended periods of standing. Participants with physical limitations should take this into account.

Steamboat Springs Balloon Festival (Over Night Trip) The Hot Air Balloon Rodeo and Art in the Park offer artistry and color both on canvases and in the air making them a staple of Steamboat Springs, Colorado in the summertime. Get to the launch grounds early to see the balloons inflate, and if you’re lucky you may even be asked to help crew. The rodeo portion consists of fun contests like dipping into Bald Eagle Lake and since balloon pilots can be pretty competitive, you’re guaranteed a good show. Once the balloons are in the air, sip on coffee and eat a yummy crepe from one of the vendors as you watch more balloons dot the Yampa Valley sky. In this class, middle to high school students will learn the basic entry level skills for both flat water and white water kayaking. 3-Day Colorado River Canoe Trip Canoe the Colorado River from Grand Junction to Westwater, Utah with instructor Bernie Kendall, certified licensed instructor, from White Water Canoe Co. Paddle through Ruby & Horse Thief Canyons, view the beauty of towering Jurassic sandstone cliffs of ancient sand dunes, climb to the Arches of Rattlesnake Canyon, star gaze or relax and enjoy a cool dip in the river. Learn to surf a canoe on the waves of Shale Rapid. No prior canoe experience is required, as certified guides will provide instruction. Instructor Bernie Kendall, from White Water Canoe Co. (certified licensed instructor), will teach the basic fundamentals of sailing using the state-of-the-art Sunfish Crafts. Upon completion you will be able to launch the boat, rig it, sail it both up and down-wind, do tacks and jibs, and right a capsized boat. All equipment and gear is provided. Meet at Poudre Ponds in Greeley for classes. Parents are welcome to attend with their children. Directions and supply list available on receipt at registration. Challenge Island Lands on Shark Tooth Island

Challenge Island is a whimsical, wildly popular summer camp that promotes creative and critical thinking skills in children. Loosely based on a well-known reality TV show, Challenge Island has kids dividing into cooperative tribes and taking on a vast array of exciting challenges set on action-packed thematic “islands”. Everyone knows that the Harvest Festival is a huge celebration in Windsor. Intermediate football will be offered in conjunction with the Coal Creek Midget Football League (CCMFL). Teams practice in Windsor & travel to the Northern Denver area for games. Participants are placed into divisions according to age. Player’s weight may prohibit them from playing certain positions. This league does not have an equal playing time requirement. The league follows 11-man NFHS rules with league specific additions or changes. Teams are scheduled for 6-8 games plus end of season playoff. Sports – Youth Challenger British Soccer Camp Challenger has developed a unique camp program that offers players a much broader soccer skills experience. Camp coaches are selected and trained in the UK. They are professional, outgoing, have a cool “British” accent and a genuine interest in helping each participant develop and provide them with a very memorable and positive experience. Challenger’s NEW 1,000 Touches Curriculum has been created to address the key areas of the sport. Participants will learn the basic skills of soccer; such as the ABC’s (agility, balance and coordination), The Moves, Freestyle Soccer, Dribbling, Passing/Receiving, Shooting, Heading and Tackling/Defending. The more time the players spend in contact with the ball the quicker they will master important core skills. The British Soccer Camp program also provides a unique cultural experience for the players, highlighted in the Camp World Cup. The coaches use this daily tournament to teach the players about life, customs and traditions of other countries. The campers are asked to make up soccer chants, wear the team colors of their country, bring flags and learn as much as they can about the country they represent.

Camp includes a ball, a t-shirt, a personal player evaluation and a giant soccer poster.

Parent Meetings Parents Assoc. for Youth Sports & Sport Specific Info. The PAYS program helps parents and youth leagues work together to provide the best possible sports experience for children. If you have previously attended the PAYS portion of the Parent Meeting, you do not need to attend again. Concussion training starts at 7pm. This training educates parents about the signs and symptoms of concussions while emphasizing the seriousness of head injuries. If you have attended the concussion training you are not required to attend again. The sport specific portion of the meeting starts at 7:30pm, which covers season schedules, rules and more. The Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture Reduced Fee Program is funded through generous donations from multiple sources including the Windsor Town Board and United Way of Weld County.
