Connect ...

with Parks, Recreation & Culture Electronically: The Town of Windsor website was recently updated and features many ways for you to connect with us – Facebook, Twitter, Notify Me! and more. Later this year, the Community Recreation Center will introduce Pass Management. You will be able to “load” a card for yourself or a gift, and use it for a variety of activities. With Friends: Sign up with a friend! Connect with us in a fitness class (see page 34), through athletics (see page 36 ), or even at a concert (see back page). There are plenty of Community Events in Windsor where you can connect (see page 2).

At a New Park: Visit one of your new parks – Diamond Valley Community Park was recently upgraded with lighted ball fields, restrooms, and a concessions plaza; neighborhood parks in the Brunner Farm, Winter Farm, and Poudre Heights subdivisions will be under construction this summer. Connect with Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture - your Link to quality of life! Enjoy!

Pikes Peak Cog Railway What is a “Cog” Railway? Conventional railroads use the friction of wheels upon the rails, called “adhesion”, to provide locomotive power. A cog, or rack, railroad uses a gear, “cog wheel”, meshing into a special rack rail (mounted in the middle between the outer rails) to climb much steeper grades than those possible with a standard adhesion railroad. An adhesion railroad can only climb grades of 4 to 6%, with very short sections of up to 9%. Enjoy the incredible views as you journey to the top and back down Pikes Peak in about 4 hours Walking Level: Easy -

Active Adults Cherokee Ranch & Castle Tour Step back in time at the Castle. This tour covers details of the Castle’s history and architecture, as well as its unique furnishings and collections of art from around the world. Cherokee Castle (South of Denver) was built between 1924 and 1926 by Denver Real estate tycoon Charles Alfred Johnson and his wife, Alice. The Johnson’s hired Merrill and Burnham Hoyt, well known Denver architects, to design the house. Originally the house was planned to be very modest, but one thing led to another, and by the time the design was complete, the building contained 26 rooms, and sprawled to 10,000 square feet. Indian Cooking with Sapna Von Reich Hearty Indian Pockets and Wraps

Coconut ‘Cuckoo’ Curries

Magical Mystery Kebabs

You might not have heard Wraps and Indian cuisine mentioned in the same sentence. However Wraps are widely eaten and are getting very popular throughout India. With ingredients ranging from chutneys and pickles to savory spiced vegetables, the Indian wraps are a welcome alternative to any curry. Samosa is a perennial Indian favorite and is well known around the World as well.

Calling all Coconut and Curry Lovers!!! Sapna Von Reich will teach you a couple of her modern spins on the traditional Coconut curry. Coconut has a magic all of its own in mutating even the most average curry into a very flavorful dish to savor. No wonder it’s used widely across all of South East Asia and South Asia. These variations on the coconut curries are delicious, vegetarian and very healthy as well.

Kebabs and Sliders are a great food for any occasion. They are most often a meat dish. But did you know that you could have equally tasty vegetarian Kebabs and Sliders as well? They are easy to prepare too! You can make them with beans, veggies, greens, sprouts or whatever you have on hand. In this class, Sapna Von Reich takes you into the endless possibilities of Kebabs and burgers.
