Before you start your next backyard project big or small, know what’s below by contacting Colorado 811. Colorado 811 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting public safety and protecting underground infrastructure such as electric, water and sewer lines. Digging without getting underground lines marked isn’t only dangerous. It’s also against the law.

After deciding where you would like to dig, follow these four easy steps: 1. Dial 811 or visit Colorado811.org. 2. Plan accordingly, allowing time for 811 to respond to the request. 3. Don’t mess with the marks. 4. Be cautious, and dig safely.

National Work Zone Awareness Week In 2019, 2,462 vehicle crashes occurred in work zones in the state of Colorado. Of those crashes, nine resulted in fatalities. National Work Zone Awareness Week, April 11-15, has been recognized since 1997 to promote safe practices in roadway construction areas for both workers and drivers. When driving in a work zone, observe the posted speed limit

and follow all flagger instructions if they are present to direct traffic. Speeding and disregarding signs and directions puts yourself, other drivers and workers at risk. Leave extra time when traveling through work zones and find out when construction is scheduled near you by subscribing to traffic alerts by visiting windsorgov.com/NotifyMe.
