FALL LEAVES

KEEP LEAVES OUT OF STREETS, GUTTERS & STORM DRAINS Autumn is upon us, which means the town's Streets Division will be hard at work once again keeping streets and storm drains clear of debris. As a reminder, please do not blow or sweep leaves into the street or storm drain. Street sweepers can easily pick up leaves that fall naturally onto the street, but large piles of leaves and debris can clog the machines and result in expensive repairs. Residents can also dispose of leaves, twigs, branches, tree limbs up to four inches in diameter and grass clippings at the upcoming Fall Clean Up Days, Oct. 15 and 16.

do

rake your leaves and dispose of them properly. Residents can check with their home waste disposal company about yard waste disposal, or participate in Fall Clean Up Days.

don’t

pile, blow or rake leaves, sticks or debris into the street. Doing so can result in clogged storm drains, ice buildups, damage to the street sweepers and a $70 fine.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Improvement Project Begins on New Liberty Road Work is underway for the New Liberty Roadway Improvement Project. This multi-phase project is intended to create a safer travel corridor for everyone and upon completion of the project, the roadway will be widened to better support local emergency service vehicles. Bike lanes will be widened and have a larger buffer between the lane and vehicle traffic. Additional crosswalks will be installed between blocks to provide safer and more convenient crossings for pedestrians.

The project is scheduled to be complete by December 1. Updates will be shared as they become available. Thank you for your patience and always using caution when traveling in work zones. For the latest traffic impacts, visit windsorgov.com/TrafficAlerts.

TIPS FOR SAFE DRIVING IN SCHOOL ZONES • Obey posted speed limits in school zones. Watch for reduced speed areas. • Be extra vigilant in school zones and watch for bikes and pedestrians coming from driveways or behind parked cars.

Poudre Express Expands Service Get on board! The Poudre Express regional bus service operated by Greeley Evans Transit provides an easy and affordable alternative for your daily commute, running Monday through Friday with three Windsor stops. Recently, the Poudre Express added three morning routes and three evening routes to provide riders with more options and flexibility. As a reminder, masks must be worn on board. For more information, visit greeleyevanstransit.com/Regional.

• Never pass a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian of bicyclist. • Never pass a school bus that is stopped for children. • In a school zone when flashers are blinking, stop and yield to pedestrians crossing the crosswalk or intersection. • Don’t honk or rev your engine to scare a pedestrian or bicyclist, even if you have the right-of-way. • Prevent distracted driving. Most crashes are caused by people who think they can pay attention to the road and do something else at the same time.
