WINDSOR MATTERS FEBRUARY 2021

SNOW REMOVAL SAFETY REMINDERS

Clear sidewalks within 24 hours of accumulation of snow or ice. When clearing snow, shovel or blow towards grass, not into the street. Keep hydrants, mailboxes, intersections, and other right of ways free of snow. Keep drains and gutters free of snow to help prevent ice build up that could potentially create hazardous conditions on sidewalks and flooding of streets. Windsor property owners and/or occupants are responsible for keeping all sidewalks free of snow and ice. Sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours of the accumulation of snow and ice. Residents, businesses, and private contractors are not permitted to push snow/ice into or across the street from private lots, driveways, and sidewalks (Municipal Code 11-3-10). Snow from private property may NOT be placed in public streets, on or around fire hydrants, and town parking lots. TOWN OF WINDSOR PUBLIC WORKS STREETS DIVISION 922 N. 15th Street | 970-674-5400 |

EASTMAN PARK RIVER EXPERIENCE COMING SPRING 2021

The town has started construction of the Eastman Park River Experience Project! Here’s what you can expect in spring of 2021:

COMMUNITY REMINDER:

USE AN EXCHANGE ZONE

• Development of a larger river plaza area • Construction of two river access points will allow for kayaking, canoeing and tubing in part of the river • Additional parking facilities improving access for all users of the park

Websites and apps for buying, selling and trading items continue to increase in popularity. The Windsor Police Department reminds residents to be safe when conducting private transactions. These types of exchanges haven’t been problematic for Windsor residents, but the Police Department would like to keep it that way. When the Windsor Police Department lobby is open, residents can use it to conduct their transactions. The lobby is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. When the lobby is closed, residents can use the front parking lot which is under video surveillance. The Police Department lobby and parking lot can also serve as a location for child custody exchanges.

DON'T WALK ON

THIN ICE!

It simply doesn’t get cold enough for long enough to reliably freeze Windsor’s bodies of water. Ice thickness—particularly at our temperatures and elevation— is inconsistent and unstable. There's been an increase in the number of people testing the ice on bodies of water in Windsor. While Windsor has great access to lakes and the Poudre River for summer recreation, during the winter months we need residents and visitors to stay off Windsor’s rivers and lakes.

Snow on ice is not an indicator that the ice is thick. In fact, snow is a natural insulator that often covers thin ice. The ice may look safe, but it’s not. Play it safe and stay off the ice.
