topp twins are back
The Lake County A&P Society committee is working hard to make sure everything is in place to make the 107th Lake Hayes A&P Show on Saturday 14th January 2023 a fabulous event.
“We are looking forward to returning with a classic mix of entertainment, animals, competitions and much to everyone’s excitement, THE TOPP TWINS.” Said Pip Norton, President of Lake County A&P Society. “As ever, the Show couldn’t run without the invaluable and loyal support of sponsors, funders, and volunteers. We are grateful for funding support from Destination Queenstown, QLDC and Central Lakes Trust,” said Pip” Arrowtown Lifestyle Village has provided valuable support as Red Ribbon Sponsor for five years running. The Committee has set a bold goal of making the Show waste free over the next 3 years. Thanks to support from Queenstown Airport, the Show will be working with the DISHrupt initiative with reusable plates and cutlery rather than single use items. There will be collection points around the Show for these reusable items and food waste, as well as a mug library for reusable cups. The Committee is asking everyone attending to support the zero waste target by bringing along reusable cups and water bottles. There will be free water refill stations thanks to Aquafilter & QLDC. A new dedicated shuttle bus route from Arrowtown will transport locals from Ramshaw Lane to the Show & back without the need for your own car. We look forward to seeing you there. Further info can be found on our Facebook page & website www.lakehayesshow.com

year in review
It’s the end of the year which means it’s community survey time again. Tell us what is most important to you about Arrowtown and how you like to receive information from the AVA. This will help drive our direction and focus in 2023. We will share your responses in January, please click the link of our Facebook page or type the following into your browser www.surveymonkey.com/r/arrowtown22
Committee Chairperson Susan Rowley stepped down in October after 2 years as Chair and many more as a loyal committee member. Passing the baton onto Nick Fifield, the committee would like to thank Susan for her commitment and hard work in support of Arrowtown. In particular, important submissions to QLDC and ORC on their annual plans, as well as, supporting initiatives such as improving Arrowtown’s air quality, the Shaping Our Future Community Visioning Report review, the conversation around restoration of Coopers Terrace, protecting Arrowtown’s heritage zone and urban boundary.
It was also an important year with the realignment of our Ward boundary, which now includes neighbouring small communities from Arrowtown to Shotover Country, Gibbston Valley to Arthur’s Point. This comes with the additional benefit of 3 councillors to advocate for and represent Arrowtown’s interests around the council table. Councillor Lisa Guy was recently announced as AVA’s committee appointment but we will continue to work with all our representatives in support of our community’s needs. There is still a lot of work to do in 2023, evolving conversations and projects, as well as new ones. We are always on the look out for new community spirited and passionate members, so please get in touch directly if you would like to lean more. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Meri Kirihimete from your Arrowtown librarians!
"Pre-loved books are proving to be a hit at the Post Office" reports manager Shalagh Madigan. In fact they’re getting a reputation for the recycling project with collections being donated and at $5 a book and a gold coin for children’s books they are turning over quickly. Shalagh says "they are popular with both tourists and locals alike, with novels, cookbooks and children’s books being especially popular".
