On 30 November 2019, Archbishop Timothy Costelloe, SDB, was the celebrant in the Deaconal Ordination of 4 Salesian students of Theology. Among them are 2 deacons from the Thai Province: Bro. Thomas Nattawut Kitsawad and Bro. Daniel Rafanomezantsoa at the St. Joseph Church, Melbourne, Australia.

GOD IS BORN ALSO AMONG THE “DIFFERENTLY-SKILLED” CHILDREN OF AGARTALA
Merry Christmas to all of you friends of the Salesian Bulletin and of Don Bosco’s charism. I’m writing this greeting to you a few hours after returning to Rome from visiting Nepal and the Salesian province of Shillong in beautiful Northeast India. There I met with my Salesian confreres, the laity, the members of the Salesian Family, our FMA sisters, and our Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC). These sisters serve in a center for boys, girls, adolescents, and young adults in Agartala who are “differently-skilled.” They totally captivated my attention when in the Holy Mass on that day about 45 of these boys and girls, deaf mutes, were in the front pews of the church and “sang” all the songs with sign language, following the Sister who stood in front of them, signing the lyrics of the songs for them. I was moved to see how they 2

sang making signs, how they paid attention and concentrated, and their expressions of happiness. I prayed with faith. I prayed with them and for them. The following morning we were able to visit them at their home: the Bishop Ferrando Rehabilitation Center of Agartala in the state of Shillong. The Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians [an Official Group of the Salesian Family founded by Venerable Bishop Stephen Ferrando, SDB, in 1942 in Guwahati, India] serve 150 boys and girls from the Tripura region. Among these, about 62 live in the house with the sisters. During the visit, they performed for us a traditional “Hojagiri” dance. It was impressive to see everyone dance, and dance to the rhythm of a music that they don’t hear as do we, but they do “hear” and listen very well with their other senses.
Another youngster, a gymnast, surprised us with her high level of skill. The most beautiful things of all were her sensitivity, joy, smile, expressions of gratitude in her sign language, and her prayer for us. I thought about those little miracles that they make happen. They are trained. They are happy. They prepare for life. Several of their schoolmates, who preceded them years before, have finished their studies at the university. In that house I felt at every moment the presence of the Lord, the fraternity of the Sisters that becomes self-giving and service, and the joy of those children and adolescents who are grateful to the Lord, grateful for what they’re receiving in life. And I watched, observed, and felt gratitude in the depths of my heart. So it is, once again, that I’ve been able to verify, as before in Nepal or in Siliguri, that God continues to write beautiful life stories in those in whom He is present. He is born in so many hearts. I learned some signs in those few hours – enough to greet them, to tell them that I enjoyed everything, and to thank them. It felt good and I felt that we should thank the Lord for the gift of Don Bosco and of this,
his Salesian Family, because we all add to it, even if but a little – but everything is for the good. With this letter, dear friends, I want to help you to see those little, though great, “miracles” of education and salvation. Therefore, this Christmas I proclaim again that the Lord is present among all of us (whether we are very aware of it or not so much), and He becomes Life, first and foremost, among the most humble and simple, like the children of Agartala. I promised these children by signs that I would pray for them and ask other people to do so. They thanked me; their look said it all, and their smile reached deep inside me. It’s Christmas, dear friends. It’s a time of salvation, today and forever, but we receive it as an evocation and Life in a special way at this time. Together with the “differentlyskilled” children of Agartala, we wish you a Merry Christmas – a happy birthday for Baby Jesus, who is Love for all of us. With affection, Again, Merry Christmas! Salesian Band รับเสด็จโป๊ป The Salesian Band Welcomed His Holiness, Pope Francis วงโยธวาทิ ต ซาเลเซี ย นซึ่ ง เป็ น ตั ว แทนนั ก เรี ย นจาก 5 โรงเรี ย น คื อ โรงเรี ย นสารสิ ท ธิ์ ฯ โรงเรี ย นเซนต์ ด อมิ นิ ก โรงเรี ย นแสงทองวิ ท ยา โรงเรี ย นดอนบอสโกวิ ท ยาและ โรงเรี ย นหั ว หิ น วิ ท ยาลั ย ได้ แ สดงและบรรเลงเพลงรั บ เสด็ จ สมเด็ จ พระสั น ตะปาปาฟรั ง ซิ ส ที่ ส นามศุ ภ ชลาศั ย เมื่ อ วั น ที่ 21 พฤศจิกายน 2019 The Salesian Band, composed of students from the 5 salesian schools - Sarasit Phithayalai School, St. Dominic School, Saeng Thong Vitthaya School, Don Bosco Vitthaya School, and Huahin Vitthayalai School - performed and played the music that welcomed His Holiness, Pope Francis at the Suphachalasai Stadium on 21 November 2019.
On 29 November 2019, Fr. Anthony Restelli, the Rector of Don Bosco Technological College - Banpong, was the celebrant in the ceremony remembering the departed teachers, students and school staffs. Members of the teaching staffs, students and relatives of the departed joined in the memorial service.

From 29 November and 1 December 2019, Fr. Aaron Alcoseba, the Rector of Mary Help of Christians Church, led the Parish Pastoral Council and members of the ADMA Group to a spiritual renewal at the Salesian Retreat House in Huahin, Prachuabkhirikhan Province animated by Fr. Siriphong Phongwathana.

On 9 December 2019, Fr. Dheparat Pitisant, the Salesian Provincial of Thailand, together with the members of the Provincial Council, signed the Memorial of Understanding between the Chiangmai College of Agriculture and Technology and the Salesian Foundation of Thailand to support the training of the Certificate Level Students under the care of the Salesians in Chiangmai.

From 9-10 December 2019, the Salesian Cooperators of Thailand held their Congress at the Don Bosco Home - Bangkok. The council of each unit and the provincial council, together with the respective spiritual moderator, joined in the meeting. In this meeting, there was the election of the new provincial council, and Mr. Pornsawad Lertvitayavivat was chosen as the 10th provincial coordinator.
9 December 2019 — 2 parishioners of Mary Help of Christians Church, Bangkok, expressed their desire to be members of the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA). They made their promises to promote devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist and to Mary help of Christians. This significant ceremony took place during the Eucharistic celebration with Fr Aaron Alcoseba SDB, Vice Provincial and the Spiritual Animator of ADMA-Thailand, and Fr Charles Velardo. On this special occasion, all members of ADMA-Thailand also renewed their promises.

Mr. Ratchphol Udomsomboon, 18 years old, a hearing-impaired person and Mrs. Ratiphorn Thongmee [sign-language translator] of Don Bosco Technological College - Bangkok were seated close to His Holiness, Pope Francis, at the end of the Holy Mass for the Youth at the Assumption Cathedral on 22 November 2019. His Holiness, Pope Francis embraced, blessed, and gave them a rosary as a souvenir.

1. What do you feel when you met Pope Francis? I feel so happy and proud at meeting the Pope; I feel so lucky. 2. If you can talk, what do you want to say to the Pope? I would like God to be beside me; I would like to have the same chances like the normal people and let the people of the world have equal happiness. 3. What is your intention? I would like to study catechism at the church, to increase my faith and to try to improve myself. December 2019
