From the 7-8 August 2019, the Thai Province held a joint meeting of the Rectors and the Provincial Council at the Provincial House. On the 7th August 2019, Fr. Nestor Impelido, SDB, an expert in Salesian History, shared with the participants on “Salesian History, Archives and Chronicles”

From the 31 July to 8 August 2019, Fr. Vaclav Klement, the Regional Superior of the EAO, came to visit the Thai Province. He joined the meeting of the Provincial Council and Rectors at the Provincial House in Bangkok.
In my office in Rome, I have a crucifix that speaks volumes to me. It was given to me by the Salesians in Peru when I was visiting them.

สารอัคราธิการ
JESUS AND THE CRUCIFIED OF THIS WORLD
It is a cross (as we well know, the symbol of Christianity), but it is not our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who hangs on this one; rather, it bears the image of a poor boy. The message is clear and very strong: our Lord Jesus is being crucified in those who are being crucified in today’s world. In all truth I do not wish to make you sad, my dear friends, readers of the Salesian Bulletin. Much less, do I want to create in you a “guilty conscience.” But I do wish to place before you this question which I pose to myself very frequently: “Is it possible that we are incapable of making this world more just? Will we never succeed?” I wish to believe that we can succeed, that it is possible, and that we are making headway little by little, by baby steps. But we still have a long way to go! I tell you this because in these last six years, as I traveled the world to our Salesian places, I encountered many crucifixions. This is truly a very strong expression, is it not?

Crucified were the street children whom
I met in our Salesian presences in Colombia, Sri Lanka, and Luanda in Angola (and in many other presences, where, lamentably, children live on the world’s streets). n Crucified were the teenagers whom I came to know in Ciudad Don Bosco in Colombia, who had been forced to become guerrillas in FARC. n Crucified on a cross similar to the one that I have in my office were the teenaged and little girls who were abused sexually in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. These are now being sheltered and cared for in the Salesian house there. There are many others, however, still on the streets or imprisoned by Mafia-type groups. n Crucified were those boys and girls whom I encountered in the Don Bosco Home in Ghana, saved from the hands of the Mafia, who wanted them for organ extraction to sell on the black market to those who are looking for organ transplants. The day in which I arrived, I met nine little girls who had been “condemned” to death by those thugs. Fortunately, through Divine Providence, they were saved by the police at the last moment and brought to the Salesian house. But without a doubt
there are many who still lose their lives. n Crucified were the many teenagers who have been living in prison for many years without having had a fair trial. Every day our Salesian confreres visit them, but they have little hope. Among these young people in the prison some are terminally ill. Little hope is accorded them. God alone is their hope. n Crucified were the girls in various countries that I visited who were obliged to go to work. We negotiated to get permission for them to go to school, but the first to resist our proposal were their own families because they would lose those wages (no matter how little they might be). n Crucified for many years were the families of the Bororo and Xavante peoples in Brazil, who were in danger of losing their lands to powerful land barons (os facendeiros). Crucified, too, by being shot to death were our Salesian confrere Fr. Rudolph and the Indian Simao, whose story I wrote on another occasion. n Crucified are the hundreds of orphan children whom I met in Aleppo. Thanks to an incomprehensible war, they have been robbed of everything. n Crucified for Jesus in these past months were our Salesian confreres Fr. Cesar Antonio and Fr. Fernando Hernandez, murdered in Burkina Faso. n Crucified in this world are all those who drown in Mare nostrum, the Mediterranean Sea, on account of human trafficking. They are launched onto the Mediterranean without safeguards and abandoned by the traffickers after they have paid huge sums of money for each “passage.” What an irony to call their voyage a “passage”! On every continent and in many nations I met those who are crucified in this world. So today I want to say a few simple words to you: I refuse, and we must refuse, to view these realities in which the poor pay such high costs as common, expected, and natural.
In the pharisaical and militant language of war, they use the expression “collateral damage” – but never, NEVER is a death, the loss of a human life, to be regarded as “collateral damage”! When faced with so many crucifixions, we must see – must see only -- and be aware that these things can never be regarded as inevitable, unavoidable. We must be super vigilant to condemn what is worthy of condemnation. We must be so active as to see what we must do and how and with whom we can unite forces. The great people of history, the great and the small saints, have done so. They are many. The most well-known to us is our beloved Don Bosco. He constantly sought just answers to unjust situations. To end, my friends: the next time that you contemplate a crucifix, recall some of these words since, most probably – and I say this with pain in my heart – there will still be others who will be crucified. The Salesian Family joined together to pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Sr. Margarita Montha Radomkit, a member of the Sisters of the Queenship of Mary. The funeral Mass was at St. Louis Church - Bangkok on 26 July 2019.
On 25 July 2019, Sarasit Phithayalai School organized a volunteering activity under the theme “We Do Good With A Heart”. They did some public service around the area in front of the school and along the railway. They offered this merit to honor the sitting King, Rama X, on the occasion of his royal birthday.

Meeting With The Governor of Sihanoukville คณะผู้ใหญ่และผู้บริหารโรงเรียน ดอนบอสโกสีหนุวิลล์ ประเทศกัมพูชา ได้เข้าพบผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดพระสีหนุ เมื่อ วันที่ 30 กรกฎาคม 2019 โดยได้พูดคุยถึง เรื่องการพัฒนาทรัพยากรบุคคล The superiors and the administrators of Don Bosco Training School Sihanoukville, Cambodia met with the Governor of Sihanoukville Province on 30 July 2019. They discussed on the ways to develop the human resources.

เมื่ อ วั น ที่ 18-20 กรกฎาคม 2019 ทีมแพทย์อาสาสมัครชาวเกาหลีมาบริการ ตรวจสุขภาพให้กับคณะครูและนักเรียนของ โรงเรียนอาชีวะดอนบอสโกพนมเปญ รวมทั้ง ชาวบ้านที่อยู่รอบๆ โรงเรียนด้วย The Korean Medical Volunteer Workers in DBTS Phnom Penh on July 18-20. They checked on the health of the students and teachers and will also serve the families around the school.

There were 30 participants in this cultural-exchange programme between the two schools.

พักผ่อนร่วมกัน Community Recreation เยาวชนอาสาสมัครของศูนย์เยาวชน ดอนบอสโกพนมเปญ ประเทศกัมพูชา ภาย ใต้การน�ำของคุณพ่อชาร์ลส์ อารุญ จ�ำนวน 40 คน ไปพักผ่อนและท�ำกิจกรรมร่วมกัน เพือ่ ความเป็นหนึง่ เดียวทีเ่ มืองสีหนุวลิ ล์ โดย พักที่โรงเรียนดอนบอสโกสีหนุวิลล์ ระหว่าง วันที่ 27-28 กรกฎาคม 2019 40 young volunteers of the Youth Center of Don Bosco - Phnom Penh organized a community outing in Sihanoukville Province and engaged in group activities to create unity in the group. Fr. Charles Arun, the group animator, led them in this event. They stayed at Don Bosco Training Center - Sihanoukville from 27-28 July 2019.

This event was organized by Fr. Suthep Jusuay, the school bursar. Some 60 persons were involved in this sportsfest, among them Fr. On 26-28 July 2019, the catholic students, high-school 1-3 levels, of Sarasit Phithayalai School and Huahin Vithayalai School, with 33 students and 10 students respectively, held together their spiritual recollection for school year 2019, under the theme “On Holiness”, at Santitham Savio Center, Sampran, Nakorn Prathom Province. Fr. Ronachai Mathavabhandhu animated this activity together with the young confreres of the Salesian formation house. Together with this spiritual exercise, the students went on a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Fr. Boonkert Kritbamrung and at the Carmelite Sisters. Moreover, Fr. Nopphorn Joseph, the rector of Sarasit Phithayalai School, officiated the concluding thanksgiving Mass. After the liturgical service, the students went on an educational trip to the nearby ‘Crocodile and Elephant Show’ in Sampran. August 2019

The recollection was animated by Fr. Nopphadol Joseph, the confrere in charge of the youth pastoral ministry of the Thai Province. The recollection was held at ‘Baan Savio’, Sampran, Nakorn Prathom Province.
การประชุม VDB ระดับโลกครั้งที่ 8 The 8th General Assembly of the VDB ระหว่างวันที่ 18-26 กรกฎาคม 2019 คณะสตรีฆราวาส ผูอ้ ทุ ศิ ตนของคุณพ่อบอสโก (VDB) ได้จดั ประชุมระดับโลกครัง้ ที่ 8 ที่เมืองฟราสกาติ (Frascati) ประเทศอิตาลี หัวข้อ ‘The Mission of the VDB Today’ มีผเู้ ข้าร่วมประชุมจ�ำนวน 84 คน ในจ�ำนวนนี้ มีคณ ุ พ่อยอห์น ลิสซันดริน จิตตาธิการ VDB แห่งประเทศไทยเข้า ร่วมประชุมด้วย ปัจจุบันมีสมาชิก VDB ทั่วโลกจ�ำนวน 1,200 คน ใน 60 ประเทศทัว่ โลก ส�ำหรับประเทศไทยมีสมาชิก VDB จ�ำนวน 12 คน From the 18-26 July 2019, the Volunteers of Don Bosco held the 8th General Assembly in Frascati, Italy on the theme “The Mission of VDB Today”. There were 84 participants, among them Fr. John Lissandrin, the chaplain of VDB Thailand. At present there are 1,200 VDB members in the world, present in 60 countries. In Thailand there are 12 VDB members.

The 36th Charity Bowling of the ‘Sons of Don Bosco’ เมื่อวันที่ 3 สิงหาคม 2019 ศิษย์เก่า ดอนบอสโกกรุ ง เทพ รุ ่ น ที่ 46 ร่ ว มกั บ วิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีดอนบอสโกกรุงเทพได้ จัดโบว์ลงิ่ การกุศล “ลูกพ่อบอสโก ครัง้ ที่ 36” ทีศ่ นู ย์การค้าเมกาบางนา จ.สุมทรปราการ โดยมีคณ ุ พ่อมานะชัย ธาราชัยเป็นประธาน เปิดงาน On 3 August 2019, the alumni of Don Bosco Bangkok, batch 46, together with the Don Bosco Technological College - Bangkok, organized the “36th Charity Bowling of the Sons of Don Bosco” at the Mega Bangna Commercial Center, Samut Prakarn Province. Fr. Manachai Tharachai graced the opening of the event.

Ugo Sanna โอกาสทีค่ ณุ พ่อแพทริก มัชโชนี ไปเยีย่ มบ้าน ที่ประเทศอิตาลีได้ไปเยี่ยมคุณพ่ออูโก ซันนา ที่วัดนักบุญเปาโล เมืองกัลเยรี คุณพ่อซันนา ได้ฝากใจเยี่ยมสมาชิกซาเลเซียน สมาชิกในครอบครัวซาเลเซียนและศิษย์เก่าทุกคน On the occasion of the home-visit of Fr. Patrick Maccioni to Italy, he visited Fr. Ugo Sanna at St. Paul Church, Cagliari. He brought the wishes of the Salesian confreres, the members of the Salesian Family and the Alumni to Fr. Sanna. On the other hand, Fr. Sanna sent also his greetings to all the Salesian confreres, the members of the Salesian Family and all the Alumni. 6

1st National Scout Reserve Rally ตั ว แทนผู ้ ก� ำ กั บ และตั ว แทนลู ก เสื อ ส� ำ รองของโรงเรี ย นดอนบอสโกวิ ท ยา จ.อุดรธานี ร่วมในการชุมนุมลูกเสือส�ำรอง แห่งชาติ ครั้งที่ 1 จัดขึ้นที่ มหาวิทยาลัย ราชภัฏอุดรธานี ระหว่างวันที่ 5-6 สิงหาคม 2019 Representatives of the leaders and reserve scouts of Don Bosco Vitthaya School, Udonthani Province, joined the 1st National Scout Reserve Rally held at UDON THANI RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY on from 5-6 August 2019.

ฉลอง 50 ปี กลุ่มคริสตชนบ้านทับคริสต์ (1969-2019)
50th Anniversary Celebration of Thap Christ Village Phanom
เมื่อวันที่ 21 กรกฎาคม 2019 บิชอป โยเซฟ ประธาน ศรีดารุณศีลเป็นประธานใน มิสซาฉลอง 50 ปี (1969-2019) กลุ่มคริสตชนบ้านทับคริสต์ วัดแม่พระองค์อุปถัมภ์ อ.พนม จ.สุราษฎร์ธานี ซึ่งเป็นวัดที่ได้รับการบุกเบิกและอยู่ภายใต้การดูแลของ บาดหลวงซาเลเซียน ก่อนการฉลองได้มีการเตรียมจิตใจบรรดาสัตบุรุษโดยมีคุณพ่อ และซิสเตอร์ไปเยี่ยมเยียนสัตบุรุษทุกครอบครัวและมีการร่วมมิสซาตามเขตย่อยของ หมู่บ้าน นอกนั้น เช้าตรู่ของวันที่ 21 กรกฎาคม 2019 คณะกรรมการสภาภิบาลของวัด และคณะกรรมการของหมูบ่ า้ นได้จดั “Thap Christ Mini Marathon” โดยวิง่ ตามเส้นทาง รอบๆ หมู่บ้าน มีผู้เข้าร่วมมากกว่า 1,600 คน เพื่อเป็นการฉลองในโอกาสนี้ด้วย On 21 July 2019, Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil, SDB, Bishop of Surat Thani Diocese, was the main celebrant in the Mass celebrating the 50th anniversary [1969 - 2019] of the Catholic community of Baan Thap Christ. The Mary Help of Christians Parish, in Phanom municipality, Surat Thani Province was pioneered and continued to be under the care of the Salesians. At present Fr. Terry Tapay, SDB, is the parish priest. Before the feast proper, there was the spiritual preparation of the faithful, where priests and religious sisters visited every family. There was group celebration of the Holy Mass according to clusters of the village. Aside from this, on the morning of 21 July 2019, the pastoral council together with the local government with the cooperation of the head village and many volunteers organize the “Thap Christ Mini-Marathon” which started at 06.00 hrs, and passed through the streets and alleys of the village. There were more than 1,600 participants.
