เมื่อวันที่ 6-9 ตุลาคม 2019 แผนก อภิบาลเยาวชนซาเลเซียน น�ำโดยคุณพ่อ นพดล ยอแซฟ จัดชุมนุมเยาวชนซาเลเซียน (SYM) ในหัวข้อ “สู่วัยสดใส รับใช้สังคม” โดยคุณพ่อรณชัย มัทวพันธุ์เป็นผู้อบรม ณ ศูนย์เยาวชนดอนบอสโก เขาตะเกียบ อ.หั ว หิ น จ.ประจวบฯ มี เ ยาวชนร่ ว ม กิจกรรมจ�ำนวน 115 คน
On the 6th-9th of October 2019, the commission on Salesian Youth Ministry for the Thai Province, led by Fr. Nopphadon Joseph SDB, celebrated the annual Salesian Youth Gathering, with the theme “Enriching the cheerful teenage, serving society,” facilitated by Fr. Ronachai Mathavabhandhu SDB at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Khao Takiab, Hua Hin. The gathering was attended by 115 students.

On the 14-16 / 17-19 October 2019, the THA Salesian Province organize the Annual Seminar on the theme “New Testament Reflections On Mission”.The well-known Fr. Francis Moloney will grace this occasion and share with the participants his valuable ideas on the subject at the Salesian Retreat House, Hua Hin.

THE DANCE OF THE BRONZE CHILDREN
My dear confreres, I greet you from Dimapur, Nagaland, in the Northeast of beautiful India, on the border with other nations. Here the Salesian presence has sunk deep and most beautiful roots of great fidelity to Don Bosco. Indeed, while reflecting on the extraordinary scenes of welcome that I have experienced throughout the whole world, a symbol of love and gratitude comes to my mind: the monument to Don Bosco which his friends wanted to erect to him right in front of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians. Within a few months, we will celebrate its hundredth anniversary. It has worn well, and like a faithful guardian welcomes all who enter the motherhouse. As often happens, we become so accustomed to seeing it that perhaps we give it only a very quick glance and just keep going. To think that the idea of a monument in this piazza had come from the mind of Don Bosco himself! One day, when they had already

begun to construct the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, while Don Bosco was crossing this piazza, which was then still but trampled earth, he stopped to contemplate the outline of the façade that was going up, and then he looked around. With that glance of a dreamer and the decisiveness that was typical of him, he said to the priest who was accompanying him: “Here in the middle I would like to put a monument to Moses as he is striking the rock, and have gush from this rock a stream of water to be collected in a basin.” Today, there is a monument in the middle of the piazza. It is not exactly what Don Bosco had imagined, but it expresses something even more The epic of Salesian ministry On September 10, 1911, the idea for a monument to Don Bosco on the anniversary of the first centennial of his birth exploded during the International Congress of the Past Pupils. Many persons from all over the world joined in the project immediately. The municipality of Turin gave them the space and made
a little contribution. A contest was held in which artists from all over the world participated. The plan that was chosen was the one that sculptor Gaetano Cellini of Ravenna presented. Everything was ready, but the terrible First World War made them postpone the inauguration, which took place at last at 11:00 a.m. on May 23, 1920, vigil of the feast of Mary Help of Christians. When the cloth covering the monument fell, the thousands of persons present broke into devoted and moving applause. Struck in bronze and placed atop a robust granite pedestal is an epic outline of Salesian ministry. On top, the meek, smiling figure of Don Bosco is surrounded by a crowd of children who seem to dance around him. Don Bosco makes a very expressive gesture which seems to say that he wants to lift up one of the children. It is a magnificent symbol of his mission and that of the Congregation: the word to educate means, precisely “to pull up,” to elevate, to make grow. The tone is joyful, which is a certain characteristic of Salesian spirituality whereby the climate of friendship that exists between the educator and the youth is of great help for personal growth. Within the tradition of St. Francis de Sales, growing in faith, even with a guide, would not be possible if there were no true friendship, communication, and reciprocal influence. It is a friendship which reaches the heights of spiritual friendship. The rapport between the Salesian formator and the young has to be imprinted with “the greatest cordiality,” because familiarity brings love, and love
brings confidence. The children look up at Don Bosco with trust because they are certain that they are loved. The mirror Below, a magnificent group represents humanity, bending to kiss a cross presented to it by Faith. “In the beginning our Society was a simple catechism lesson,” stated Don Bosco. This phrase brings us back to the origins and roots of the Salesian Congregation. From Don Bosco we learned that evangelizing passion for bringing every child, every person, to an encounter with Jesus. On the two reliefs in the front can be seen, on the right, a mother with a little boy in her arms who sends kisses up to Don Bosco, and on the left a poor leper who looks gratefully at his benefactor. On the two sides, two of the “holy loves” promoted by Don Bosco, the Eucharist and the Help of Christians, are fused in the idea of the mission ad gentes and in that of the family. On the back portion, three bas-reliefs record how much the Salesians have done and are doing in the assistance of immigrants – both those of yesterday and those of today. I think of how many Salesian houses around the entire world have opened their doors for
migrants of every age. I think of the refugee camps and of the group homes. On the sides are pictured the Salesian technical and agricultural schools. Each day, thousands of young people enter our houses to become “good Christians and upright citizens.” As if by a mirror trick, directly behind the figure of Don Bosco, in the center of the façade of the Basilica, the statue of Jesus with the children stands out prominently. “Let the children come to me, for to such as these, in fact, belongs the Kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14). All around the world I have seen the sons of Don Bosco make Jesus’ words come true with unchanged passion. That is why today new missionaries still depart from this place. Above all, I have felt the infinite gratitude of innumerable men and women for what they have received in Don Bosco’s name. Whenever I arrive in a Salesian house, in any nation of the world, it seems that I see again surrounding me that circle of children on the monument, with their joy fulfilled, something which I wish for every one of you,

On 17-22 September 2019, Fr. Francis Cais, Fr. Dominic Suphot Riewngam and Fr. Peter Niphon Sarachit represented the THA Salesian Province at the meeting of the persons in-charge of the Salesian Family. This was the English version of the meeting, held at the St. Pius XI Institute, with 34 participants.
On this month of the Holy Rosary, Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil joined the faithful of Mary Help of Christians Church - Krungthep Kritha in praying the rosary and preside at the Holy Thanksgiving on 2 October 2019.

เด็กศิลป์มุ่งสู่นานาชาติคว้ารางวัลระดับโลก Arts Students Go Inter นั ก เรี ย นในโครงการเด็ ก ศิ ล ป์ มุ ่ ง สู ่ น านาชาติ ข องกลุ ่ ม สาระศิลปะของโรงเรียนดอนบอสโกวิทยา จ.อุดรธานีได้รับ รางวัล 18 รางวัล จากการส่งผลงานเข้าแข่งขันในรายการ ศิลปะเด็กนานาชาติครั้งที่ 49 ณ กรุงโตเกียว ประเทศญี่ปุ่น โดยมี คุ ณ ครู ส มชั ย ไตรวรรณทวี เป็ น ผู ้ ฝ ึ ก สอน มี เ ด็ ก และ เยาวชนจากทั่ ว โลกที่ ส ่ ง ผลงานเป็ น จ� ำ นวน 51,688 ภาพ The students in the project “Arts Students Go Inter” of Don Bosco Vitthaya School, Udonthani Province garnered 18 prices from the entries they sent to compete in the 49th International Arts Children Contest in Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Somchai Traiwanthevi was the teachertrainer. There were 51,688 entries in the contest, coming from children and youth throughout the world.
On 25 September 2019, Fr. Suksan Chaopaknam and the Sisters of the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary had a special audience with Her Royal Princess Sirindhorn during the special reception at CS Hotel Pattani. During the royal audience, Fr. Suksan took the opportunity to offer the memorial book printed on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Surat Thani Catholic Mission.
ตะลุยน�้ำพุร้อนปลายพู่ Enjoying Plai Phu Hotspring เมื่อวันที่ 3 ตุลาคม 2019 เด็กๆ ของบ้านดอนบอสโกโฮม บางสัก จ.พังงา ได้ไปบ่อน�้ำพุร้อนปลายพู่ อ�ำเภอกะปง ซึ่งเป็น น�ำ้ พุธรรมชาติทสี่ ายน�ำ้ มีทงั้ น�ำ้ ร้อนน�ำ้ เย็นมาบรรจบกัน นับเป็น ความมหัศจรรย์ที่ธรรมชาติเป็นผู้รังสรรค์ขึ้นมา
ปรับปรุงฟาร์มดอนบอสโก Renovation of Don Bosco Farm ช่วงเดือนกันยายนและเดือนตุลาคม 2019 ภราดาไพทูรย์ ธรรมนิตย์ ผู้รับผิดชอบศูนย์เกษตรและเทคโนโลยีดอนบอสโก เชียงใหม่ ได้ปรับปรุงภูมิทัศน์และอาคารสถานที่ของศูนย์ฯ ให้ น่าอยู่มากขึ้น ปัจจุบันมีนักเรียนจ�ำนวน 7 คนที่ร่วมในโครงการ ด้านการศึกษากับศูนย์แห่งนี้
On 3 October 2019, the children at the Don Bosco Home, Bangsak, Phangnga Province, went to Plai Phu Hotspring at Ka-phong district. This hotspring is a mixture of hot-and-cold water, which is indeed a natural wonder.
During the months of September and October 2019, Bro. Phaithoon Thamnit, the confrere in-charge of the Don Bosco Agricultural and Technological Center - Chiengmai, supervised the renovations of the buildings and surrounding areas. At present, there are seven trainees who joined the project and to learn in this Center. October 2019

ทีมฟุตบอลเณรเทวศาสตร์ซาเลเซียนที่ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ ร่วมแข่งขันฟุตบอลกระชับมิตรกับทีมคณะนักบวชอื่นๆ ปัจจุบัน บ้ า นเณรเทวศาสตร์ ซ าเลเซี ย นที่ ฟ ิ ลิ ป ปิ น ส์ มี ส ามเณรทั้ ง สิ้ น 55 คน จาก 11 ประเทศ แขวงไทย (กัมพูชา) มีเณรเรียนที่นี่ 3 คน คือ บ.โยชัว (ปี 2), บ.จอห์น นารี (ปี 1) และ บ.อันโทนี (ปี 1)

The football team of the Salesians - students of Theology in the Philippines participated in a friendly football match against the teams from other religious congregations. At present, there are 55 students of Theology from 11 countries. The Thai Province [Thai-Cambodia-Laos] has 3 seminarians studying theology there, namely, Bro. Joshua [2nd yr], Bro. John Nary [1st yr], and Bro. Anthony [1st yr].
Representatives of the student body of St. Dominic School joined the activity entitled “Global Climate Strike” in the project “New Gen No Plastic, No Straw”. They participated in the walk campaign on Friday, 20 September 2019, against plastic garbage which caused world heat. This walk started at Sena Place Hotel and finished at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

50 ปีมิสซังสุราษฎร์ฯ 50 Years of Surat Thani Diocese เมื่อวันที่ 28 กันยายน 2019 บิชอป โยเซฟ ประธาน ศรีดารุณศีล บิชอปของเขต ศาสนปกครองสุราษฎร์ธานีเป็นประธานในการฉลอง 50 ปี มิสซังสุราษฎร์ธานี โดย มีผู้แทนพระสมณทูต ปอล ชาง อินนัม, บิชอปยอห์น บอสโก ปัญญา กฤษเจริญ, บิชอปโยเซฟ วุฒเิ ลิศ แห่ลอ้ ม, บรรดาบาดหลวง นักบวชและสัตบุรษมาร่วมงานจ�ำนวนมาก ณ อาสนวิหารราฟาเอล จ.สุราษฎร์ธานี ในโอกาสนี้ได้มีการบวชบาดหลวงใหม่ของเขต ศาสนปกครองนี้ จ�ำนวน 3 องค์ คือ คุณพ่อยอแซฟ อมรเทพ สุรปิ ะ, คุณพ่อฟรังซิสอัสซีซี ชัยณรงค์ ฤทธิ์สารพิทักษ์และคุณพ่อฟรังซิสอัสซีซี ยุทธการ กอบวัฒนกุล ก่อนหน้านี้ได้มีการเตรียมจิตใจสัตบุรุษทั้งเขตศาสนปกครองเป็นเวลา 1 ปี โดยเริ่ม จากพิธีเปิดปีแห่งการเตรียมฉลองในเดือนกันยายน 2018 โอกาสนั้นได้มีการน�ำเกวียน ซึง่ มีรปู แม่พระองค์อปุ ถัมภ์ประดิษฐานอยูเ่ ป็นสัญลักษณ์ของการฉลองไปตามวัดต่างๆ ทุกวัด เหตุที่ใช้เกวียนเป็นสัญลักษณ์ก็เพราะตั้งแต่เริ่มก่อตั้งเขตศาสนปกครองนี้ พระคุณเจ้า คาเร็ตโต ซึ่งเป็นบิชอปท่านแรกได้ตั้งปณิธานที่จะน�ำแม่พระไปสุดปลายแผ่นดินไทย ทางภาคใต้ (คาเร็ตโตแปลว่าเกวียน) นอกนั้นได้มีการจัดตั้งทีมฟื้นฟูจิตใจเคลื่อนที่ ซึ่งประกอบด้วยพระคุณเจ้าประธาน พระสงฆ์ ซิสเตอร์คณะผู้รับใช้ ซึ่งเดินทางไปฟื้นฟู จิตใจในโอกาสฉลองวัดให้กบั สัตบุรษุ ในเขตศาสนปกครองตลอด 1 ปี โดยใช้วธิ กี ารร�ำพึง พระวาจาแบบ Lectio Divina, การรับศีลอภัยบาป, การสวดสายประค�ำ ฯลฯ On 28 September 2019, Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil, SDB, the Bishop of the Diocese of Surat Thani, was the main celebrant in the 50th year anniversary of Surat Thani Diocese at the Archangel Raphael Cathedral. The celebration was graced by the Representative of Archbishop Paul Tschang In-Nam, the Nuncio of Thailand, other Bishops, Priests, Religious and many other faithful. On this occasion, there was also the ordination to priesthood of 3 deacons. One of them had been partly formed at the Salesian seminary. October 2019

วงโยธวาทิตซาเลเซียนเตรียมแสดง ต้อนรับสมเด็จพระสันตะปาปาฟรังซิส The Joint Salesian Marching Band Prepares to Welcome His Holiness, Pope Francis วงโยธวาทิตของโรงเรียนในเครือซาเลเซียน จ�ำนวน 5 โรงเรียน ประกอบด้วย โรงเรียสารสิทธิฯ์ โรงเรียนแสงทองวิทยา โรงเรียนดอนบอสโกวิทยา โรงเรียนหัวหินวิทยาลัยและโรงเรียนเซนต์ดอมิ นิก จ� ำ นวน 195 คน ครู แ ละผู ้ ฝ ึ ก สอน จ�ำนวน 30 คน ได้เข้าค่ายฝึกซ้อมเพื่อแสดง และต้ อ นรั บ สมเด็ จ พระสั น ตะปาปาฟรั ง ซิ ส อย่ า งเป็ น ทางการ ณ สนามกี ฬ าแห่ ง ชาติ ศุภชลาศัย ระหว่างวันที่ 1-10 ตุลาคม 2019 ณ โรงเรี ย นสารสิ ท ธิ์ พิ ท ยาลั ย จ.ราชบุ รี The marching band of five Salesian schools, composed of Sarasit Phithayalai School, Huahin Vitthayalai School, St. Dominic School, Saeng Thong Vitthaya School and Don Bosco Vitthaya School, numbering 195 students and 30 teachers - trainees, started the training camp for their performance to officially welcome His Holiness, Pope Francis at Suphachalasai National Sports Stadium. The camp is schedulec from 1-10 October 2019 at Sarasit Phithayalai School, Ratchaburi Province.
