PWA World Tour Korea 2016: 2 bullets out of 2. Our results prove our work and performance. Lena Erdil and Matteo Iachino from the Black Team, both won the first event from the PWA Slalom Word tour 2016 on the new AC-One Zero16. 2017 will be the 10th anniversary for Point-7, and this will be another great event result to add to our list of goals achieved. A special year where we want our AC-One to look more aggressive, black and 0.7 as ever. The brain storming from the team, the intense months of this winter training, were having as one of the main focus the development of the new AC-One Zero17. Therefore the prototyping continued for each size independently. “Keizoku wa chikara nari.”, meaning “slow but steady wins the race”. This is the truth on how we built our Point-7 AC-One in these years, with our united and passionate true team. Available from September 2016!

what it’s all about. Given to be the fastest sail for 2016 by windsurfing magazines, with no negative comments, from there we developed even further this 2017 AC-One racing monster! The name ACOne derives simply from the initials and sail number of Andrea Cucchi put together. Point-7 founder, head of development, team manager and the man who last year decided to create a group of young professionals and have them to train together under the name BLACK TEAM. Not only testing the sail for straight-line speeds, but also checking how the sail would perform in the starts and jibing around the marks with seven other riders closely in pursuit just as in real competition conditions for which a racing sail is developed. This level of development and practise of testing took the Point-7 gear to a new level of perfection. The dedication put behind the team and the advance made on the rig ensured podium results at any level: long distances such as the Defi Wind, PWA slalom podium results, overall PWA podium results many national and international results with many young riders being able to make stand out results.

what’s new. Over the last year boards have widened to increase their tail size and volume. This allowing a wider range performance in lighter winds, the chance to use bigger sail and fin sizes, without losing very controllable feeling and speed in strong winds. This board development gave the opportunity for the sails to develop towards that direction as well. This was done by implementing more power to service the new needs, by centring new outlines, new luff sizing, new boom lengths and cross batten profiles. This new development has brought the chance to take out from our range the 9.7, as the power given by the new 9.2 is now satisfying even the heaviest sailors. Using only a 490 mast the 9.2 becomes friendly also to the lightest windsurfers who love racing. The other great advantage is that there is no more need to have a 520 in the quiver. Leaving no doubts to the development team, Point-7 is proud to present the new 8.6 which is using only a 460 mast. A great advantage for a lighter feel in the sail, due to the 25imcs the 460 offers, keeping the big board lighter on the water for earlier planning, easier pumping and riding high over the chop and waves. If this happens on a big board, imagine

the bigger advantage of finally having this feeling when using an 8.6 on a medium board! The perfect match is finally feeling like it’s not a compromise for only a few riders, but a combo ready to work for everyone. Could it be that you don’t need a 490 anymore in your quiver if you are not interested in the 9.2, but having only the 8.6 as your bigger sail? Developing the fast smaller sizes of the range, has a been a dedicated work from many prototyping. The game was to target the correct balance to improve the power of the sail, and into increase the stability in light wind, without losing the trade mark of their hyper speed. Changing sails which have set important results in events such as Defi wind, PWA wins, and taken as reference from many sail brands, had a certain responsibility; well it’s all done. From September you will be amazed to feel the new power of the smaller sizes. The increased range in light wind, and stability in the strongest gusts, from the new 7.9 and 7.2 due to the new outline in the boom area. A total new outline for the 6.2 and 5.6, where the area of the sail has been moved to balance the power more on the lower part of the sail. This offering the extra comfort and the extra speed which cannot be compared to the previous models. Exactly, be ready to have the new AC-One 2017 delivered in September!

matteo iachino. ITA-140 I’m impressed on how development works in Point-7. It was the first year I worked on development with the Black Team. There is no waste of time, no restrictions. It’s all done in a very practical way, that once the next change is thought, in no time we have the sails with the changes, and the next days we are testing. With the fact that Andrea is on the water with us, and he can do the changes, we have no limitations or waiting periods. We don’t need to organize testing days or weeks, Andrea is following us around the PWA, he is training with us in Tenerife in the winter, so we never stop working on the sails. The needs in racing keep changing; the gear needs to be updated to follow these needs. When I joined Point-7, I was impressed by the power and speed of the sails. This year, we have given to each size a big improvement with new innovating ideas, that can be seen just from the specs. I’m totally excited by each change, the master piece in racing is an evolving art that with Point-7 is possible. #riding4albi

black team development. There is no such thing as a racing sail which works for a style, or weight or height of a person, nor for a dedicated board. A good sail works on every good board, and for every person, no matter their body height and weight. This is what we have proven with our Black Team results at the PWA events, down to national and local events. Latest result being this year at PWA Slalom in Korea, where the AC-One was able to win in both women and men division. To achieve this outstanding performance, the development of the AC-One is carried out by involving the whole of Our Black Team. The brainstorming, the fact that the riders are sponsored by different board brands, that testing is done all around the globe, makes sure that the equipment is taken to the limit, mixed in an endless combinations: transforming compromises to winning facts.
