United with the idea of making their own music after having experimented in cover bands for almost 10 years, in 2018 these friends join forces and Pressure is born, straight from Sweden. This is how some time later "The Path of Shadow", the band's debut album, was born. But let's let Simon Forsell tell us more about Pressure. By: Alejandro Pérez.
Hello Pressure, how are you? It's a pleasure to interview you. Hey, it’s a pleasure being your Pressure. How has the pandemic been going for you? The pandemic has been tough on us as all other musicians around. But we have tried our best to make it through and use the time when we have not been able to do shows and stuff like that. We have been working on new material, rehearsing and working on our shows and also trying to network and connect with others during this hard time. I understand that the band emerges in 2018, so you have been around for a short time yet. How did the idea of creating the band come about? The idea formed as some of us had been playing in the same cover/party bands since 2008. But as we wanted to do more original songs and wanted to explore our own music we decided to go all in on our own music. Who are its current members? Current members are Simon Forsell - Guitars, backing vocals, drums Olof Jönsson - Lead vocals Olli Violet - Vocals Patrik Buhr - Guitars Ignacio Arrua - Bass guitar
Could you tell us about your main influences? Pressure are playing what we call Story Metal. When we write a song we always start with the lyrics. Then we decide what kind of music would best fit the story that needs to be told. So each song has different kind of influences. Our songs are connected through their stories and not through a unified influence or sound. How would you define your musical style? Story metal are as I said based true stories which we have experienced and seen through life. To be able to write real Story metal you cannot be afraid of life and what it has to offer. How can you write about life if you don’t dare to live it? The music is influenced by different hard rock/metal genres who is carefully selected for each song to set the right mood of the song. You never know what to expect when you find yourself listening to a new Story Metal song. Story Metal always combines the art of storytelling with the raw power of hard rock/metal to give the listener a full blown experience of being a part of a story.
Let's talk about "The Path of Shadow"; the band's debut album which was released last May. How was the editing and recording process? We did all the recording in our own studio “Pressure Dome” and were guided by our producer Izzy Ander to help us with the different tracks. When we were satisfied with the recordings, we sent the tracks to our producer who either accepted them or sent them back for redoes with notes! It took a long time because we are all very picky about the sound and performances but we are very happy with the result and that we let the album take so long time to produce as it did! How many songs are included and what are the songs about? The album includes 14 songs. And it’s a concept album. As the title describes it’s a story about your own life but told from your Shadows perspective. Your shadow has been with you through your whole life, always having your back, never condescending, never judging, just being there as your support through life. You cannot hide from your shadow as it has seen it all. Imagine one day as your shadow come to life and sits you down and tells you the story about your own life but from his perspective. There will be truths - both the ones you already knew but didn’t want anyone to find out and truths that you didn’t know about yourself. The shadow tells it all as he has always been and always will be around. You can read the story here: http://poas.pressure.band How did you do to publicize and promote it? It was released worldwide on all digital platforms and we had great help with the promotion part from SamBone Promos! How was it received in general, both by the public and by the specialized press? We think that we got a good response. Some had some opinion about our story track where our lead singer is narrating the story of the Shadow - but we really think that it was good people reacted. We are not your ordinary metal or hard rock band! We have got good reviews and a lot of people talking about it and streaming the album. Where is it available? You can find the album on any streaming platform of your own choice. You recently released the music video for the song "Untouchable" and let me tell you that I really enjoyed it and it has a great message. Can you give us details of the video? Untouchable is a song who wants to send the message of strength and self-empowerment. You can get help in your life from all around you, friends, work, society etc. But in the end if you want to achieve or succeed in something – the final step or choice is up to you to make. You can get help up to the final step but you have to make the last one yourself. To be strong on your own in that moment. To be able to fight of your demons for the last time and to get to be on top. That is the meaning of the song untouchable. We tried to show this with strong clips of achievements in the music video.
Where was it filmed? The video was filmed in a live set in a very cool set which is actually located in a parking garage in Kista/Stockholm. You would imagine that the sound would be horrible but it’s really good! How did you feel once you saw the finished video? We were really happy with the result. And felt that it really captured the meaning behind the song. As a Story metal band this is so important for us to be able to show the meaning behind the song and the story within the video. I called my attention that you are from Sweden. Could you tell us a little bit about the rock scene there? Sweden normally has a good rock scene but all venues/clubs and shows was cancelled so we don’t really know who everything will be now after the pandemic but hopefully is soon back to full strength. People in Sweden love their rock music. Is there a diversity of musical styles? Yeah, Sweden has a lot of styles and music genres. There is different groups listening to different genres. I would say that there is a vast diversity of styles in Sweden but a good rock scene! Has it been difficult for you to make your way competing with so many bands? We don’t see it as a competition, as a musician we all know that there is a lot of struggling. Don’t compete, support. We support local bands as we do national and international bands. We think the way to success it to help each other out. With so much music being released all the time it’s important to keep your friends close and to expand the circle all the time. Back to the band. What are your plans for the next months? (pandemic permitting) To start doing shows again and keep writing. We are working on a lot of new things. We also have plans for a new album coming on late spring 2022. You can expect both new singles, shows, videos and much more coming in the near future! Can we expect any video soon? Yes. In September we will release a very powerful video for our song “Where are you now”. It’s one of our best yet. Really powerful stuff! Cannot wait for you guys to see it! Do you already have any gigs planned? We have a couple of live streams planned but no, not a “real” show as the restrictions in Sweden are still in place as of right now! Well Pressure, that's all. Con una década a sus espaldas, Rabia Pérez ha sabido abrirse camino y hacerse de un nombre y prestigio dentro de la escena madrileña. Luego de varios cambios en su alineación y con un sonido totalmente renovado y fresco, la banda ha comenzado una “nueva versión” a la cual han titulado Rabia 2.1. Pero dejemos que sea Gabriel Peñasco quien nos comente más sobre la banda a propósito de “Un Nuevo Mundo”, el más reciente trabajo musical de estos madrileños. Por: Alejandro Pérez.
¡Hola Rabia Pérez! ¿Cómo estáis? ¿Cómo os ha llevado la pandemia? Un placer poder entrevistarlos. ¡Hola chicos! Muchísimas gracias por darnos esta oportunidad de entrevistarnos. Pues la verdad es que las ganas no las perdemos nunca jeje por lo menos de momento. La pandemia en este sentido no nos ha tratado tan mal puesto que hemos sabido adaptarnos a la situación y hemos decidido trabajar más que nunca durante este periodo Según su bio la banda se forma en el 2011, por lo que en este año estáis cumpliendo vuestra primera década de creados. ¿Cómo os sentís? La verdad es que no nos podemos quejar, hemos hecho todo lo que nos hemos propuesto y hasta hora lo hemos conseguido, unos se van y otros vienen pero siempre miramos porque el nombre de la banda siga brillando como el primer día. ¿Cuánto ha crecido la banda en estos diez años? Hemos hecho infinidad de conciertos rodeados de los mejores y eso no tiene precio, tenemos 3 discos en la calle habiendo grabado los dos últimos con uno de los mejores productores de metal del país, unos cuantos videoclips profesionales en las redes... de momento no se puede pedir más. Estamos muy contentos con todo lo que hemos conseguido hasta la fecha, pero somos conscientes de que aún queda mucho por recorrer. ¿Podéis presentar a los miembros actuales, pues supongo que la alineación haya cambiado en tanto tiempo? Desde luego, ahora mismo somos 6 integrantes. Tenemos a Fati y Korpa en las voces, Gabriel Peñasco y Mau Nadalig en las guitarras a Xavier Saavedra en el bajo y Paris Lakryma en la batería.
Hasta ahora la banda tiene tres trabajos musicales, siendo el EP “Un Nuevo Mundo” (2020), el más reciente. ¿Cómo fue el proceso de edición y grabación? Nosotros tenemos una forma muy peculiar de grabar nuestros últimos discos y que casualmente nos ha venido muy bien durante los inicios de la Pandemia. Solo grabamos en el estudio voces y baterías, las guitarras y bajos los grabamos en el local de ensayo a modo de línea y que luego re amplificamos en el estudio, es una fórmula que muchas bandas utilizan y que a nosotros nos están funcionando muy bien, por presupuesto y por la forma de trabajar de la banda. ¿Cuántos temas trae y sobre que tratan? Son 6 temas los que hemos decidido incluir en este EP y de los cuales seguimos manteniendo nuestra crítica social, en este disco puedes escuchar temas que hablan sobre la depresión, tener miedo al miedo como es el caso de “Los Pájaros” al igual que sobre la superación de uno mismo ante una adversidad como es el caso de “Rabia” tema con el que inicia el EP, “Nada será igual” totalmente premonitorio puesto que no sabíamos lo que estaba por suceder en el mundo con respecto a lo del Covid 19 y el tema lo detalla al milímetro, aparte de todo esto “Un Nuevo Mundo” tema que llevaba compuesto por Gabriel Peñasco desde el 2008 y que se decidió sacar a la luz al ver que cada día nos cargamos más el medio ambiente que nos rodea a pasos agigantados. No nos olvidamos tampoco de lo enganchados que estamos a las nuevas tecnologías y de lo peligrosas que pueden ser las redes sociales para muchos de nosotros por eso decidimos hacer el tema “Sueño Virtual” y por ultimo “Inmortal” en el cual dejamos claro el mensaje de que digan lo que digan sobre uno, nosotros mismos sabemos nuestra propia verdad y eso nos mantiene inmortales por el paso del tiempo. ¿Posee algún material audiovisual? Es cierto que debido a la situación actual nos ha sido difícil poder grabar dicho material con este disco y de momento solo tenemos publicado un vídeo-lyric del tema “Rabia” pero somos muy cabezotas y somos conscientes de la calidad que tienen los temas y aunque haya pasado algo de tiempo cabe la posibilidad de que hagamos algo que sorprenda a nuestros seguidores con algún que otro tema de este EP ¿Cómo dieron a conocer y promocionar el mismo? (ya que os pilló a principios de la pandemia) Simplemente lo lanzamos al público y nada más, tampoco hicimos mucho ímpetu por promocionarlo, lo que se pudo mover fue por cuenta de nuestra promotora LadyStoneMusic y nuestros fans, sabíamos que la gente estaba en casa igual que nosotros y verían el material publicado. ¿Cómo fue recibido el mismo de manera general, tanto por el público como por la prensa especializada? La verdad es que desde que lanzamos “Venganza” a la gente ya le suele gustar de por si nuestra pegada y no ha sido lo contrario con “Un Nuevo Mundo” y eso nos gustó
muchísimo, fue una alegría que tuvimos que compartir a distancia (en una video llamada) lamentablemente por aquel entonces. ¿Dónde se puede obtener copia del mismo? Debido a la situación de no poder hacer conciertos (que es donde más copias solemos vender) decidimos no sacarlo en formato físico y solo está disponible en plataformas digitales, suponemos que un futuro lo sacaremos en formato físico, eso desde luego. Hace poco acabáis de estrenar el videoclip oficial del tema “Reflejos”; el cual formara parte de vuestro próximo trabajo musical. Sí, es un adelanto de nuestro 4º EP el cual, si todo marcha bien entraremos a grabar en el estudio en noviembre de este año con intenciones de publicarlo en 2022, pero claro, con esta situación nunca se sabe, desde luego siempre tenemos un plan B según como nos traten las circunstancias. ¿Podéis comentarnos sobre el mismo? ¡Jajaja! A ver... siempre es una intriga saber mantener a los fans contentos con el material que publicamos, desde luego la gente con nosotros espera sorprenderse y que les “volemos la cabeza” por decirlo de algún modo y creo que lo hemos conseguido con “Reflejos” en este caso no podemos ser más claros, el 4º EP es más duro y a nivel de sonido será diferente a un “Un Nuevo Mundo” sobre todo porque tenemos a Korpa aportando ideas y más agresividad a nivel vocal en los temas y eso se nota, hasta aquí os puedo contar y creo que es mucho ya jejeje! ¿Qué mensaje quisieron transmitir con el mismo? Si hablamos del tema “Reflejos” somos bastante oscuros y depresivos... Creo que el videoclip habla por sí solo y la canción también “ Sufro en el rincón, dolor fantasma que nunca existió” somos conscientes de que mucha gente se ha sentido así durante esta pandemia, ansiedad por querer ser libres, relacionarnos, y no hemos podido, nunca sabes lo que tienes hasta que lo pierdes. ¿Cómo se sintieron una vez vieron el video terminado? Pufff, Siempre nos pasa cuando trabajamos con PromioFilms, son especialistas en ponernos la piel de gallina, de hecho nosotros pensamos que hasta que no está grabado el videoclip el tema no está terminado. Cuando terminas el rodaje ya tienes los nervios de verlo terminado y cuando lo ves, es indescriptible lo que sentimos y sabemos que a los fans les pasa lo mismo. Como dije “Reflejos” formará parte del nuevo trabajo musical de la banda. ¿Podéis adelantarnos algo? Como os comenté en preguntas anteriores, no dejamos de superarnos día a día, trabajo tras trabajo y os podemos asegurar que este último trabajo será otra vuelta de tuerca, si la gente pie más pegada y agresividad nosotros nos esforzamos en mantener a nuestros seguidores contentos, jeje.
¿Cuántos temas traerá y cuál será el título del mismo? Contando “Reflejos” hay que sumarle 4 temas más, si, será corto pero intenso ¿Para cuándo estará disponible? No sabemos si será a principios, mediados o finales del 2022. En cuanto a planes futuros. ¿Tenéis planificado algo inmediato? Tenemos un par de fechas confirmadas a finales de este año y volcarnos en grabar las líneas de guitarras y bajos del 4º EP ya que eso corre por cuenta de Gabriel Peñasco, Xavier y Mau, al igual que terminar de darle forma a los nuevos temas. ¿Podremos esperar algún videoclip en breve? Puede que sí y no... Todo dependerá de nuestra situación monetaria, pero de una forma u otra sacaremos material. ¿Tenéis planificada alguna presentación? A finales de año si todo va bien con respecto a las restricciones y demás, tenemos un par de fechas confirmadas en Madrid. Teitan was born in 2009 as a musical project between Devi and Damon and after Damon's departure, Devi took on the task of continuing with it. If you are one of those who like dark and mysterious music then you are in the right place and you should listen to “Vákuum”, the most recent musical work of Teitan. But let's leave it to Devi, the mastermind behind this project to give us more details. By: Alejandro Pérez.
Hi Devi, how are you? How has the pandemic been going for you? A pleasure to interview you Hey man, Thank you so much for reaching out! This is actually the first interview I’m doing for Teitan and it’s a pleasure to talk with you about this project. The pandemic obviously sucks for everyone. I am very lucky to have a very steady job and income and also to be in good health and haven’t caught the virus yet. I used the pandemic to write a lot of music and do a lot of work for my bands in general. And I also belong to the small group of people to benefit in a strange way from this whole situation, for I live very healthy at, and can concentrate more on the important things in life, such as music. It was in 2009 when you decided to create the Teitan project with Damon. How did the idea of creating this project come up? What are your musical influences? Well, going back to 2009, I was 19 back then. Damon and I played in a black ‘n roll band and wanted to create a project about extreme, chaotic and evil music. Like a lot of teenagers do haha
We were influenced by bands like Marduk and Gorgoroth. It never really went anywhere, but a shitty demo. After a "pause" period, due to Damon's departure from the project, Teitan's debut album "Weight of the Void" was released 10 years after the first demo. Tell us a little bit about this album? How was the process of editing and recording? How many songs does it include? How did you publicize and promote it? How was it received in general, both by the public and by the specialized press? Where is it possible to get a copy of it? Damon was even way younger than I, he was 15 at that moment in time. He stopped listening black metal and I got in a bigger black metal band. And ten years past. Damon and myself are still good friends and one day, he was at my place, joking about how cool it would be if 10 years after the demo a debut album would appear. I saw the fun in that and started working on some song. I am not a professional music producer so the recording phase is really messy. I do everything myself and learn a lot from every minute of music I record. Since it was basically meant as a joke, I didn’t make the effort to find a label and do a paid promo campaign on it. I just emailed a few small media, and a befriended label released less than 50 tapes. The reviews were very positive (there weren’t that many reviews, but still). I worked with a combination of raw black metal and dark drone elements. Which later brought me to the idea of working this further out. There may still be some copies around at Zwaertgevegt Records. But you can listen to it on Spotify and YouTube. While I was writing this interview I could listen to your music and to tell you the truth it is something totally different from what I am accustomed to listen to. Where does the inspiration come from to compose and create your own songs? Do you reflect personal feelings or experiences? Oh, but I’ll take that as a compliment, thank you very much 😉 But all jokes aside. Making experimental and new music is mandatory for a standard in my creative output, no matter what project I’m working on. The concept that I’m working on for Teitan defiantly needs some more work, but I’m confident that I’m working on something refreshing. Well, I did (and sometimes still do) a lot of psychedelic drugs. LSD, mushrooms, DMT etc. and also I work in the field of psychiatry, so exploring the human psyche is something I do for both fun and profession. I like to express my subjective psychedelic experiences in my music.
Also I read a lot and love to read about science and philosophy, and obviously all those thing bring me to strange concepts that I deem very fitting for dark art. I think I mostly reflect personal feelings in my art when it comes to my everyday frustrations. Also I am a most energetic person (ADHD) and found a very healthy outlet through making extreme music. Back to the project. Next September 15th will be released the EP 'Vákuum', which also coincides with your birthday (so congratulations in advance!). How was the editing and recording process? Well thank you. Recording this work started off with the artwork. After Weight of the Void I wanted to do more with Teitan and after being deeply touched by the artwork made by Wolfstone I wrote a few songs on the feeling I got from the artwork. Five of them resulted in the EP Vákuum. How many tracks does it include? Recording it was a fluent process of going back and forth through instrumental sections, lyrics and the production itself. I am still very much in an accelerating learning curve when it comes to production, or any aspect of making albums on my own for that matter. How will you make it known and promote it? I work together with Hardlife Promotions to make sure that the upcoming EP will be heard by fans all over the world. I try to make the EP in to a complete experience and dance the dance of the media. For the most recent news people should follow my Facebook page. How do you think it will be received in general? I am not quite sure how it will be received. It’s always exciting when you publish something, but this time its extra exciting for me personally for it is the first time I put out something I recorded and produced alone. Where is it available? The digipacks are already available for pre-order at Voidwanderer Productions and Onism Productions, the tape can be bought at Zwaertgevegt and off course it will be available on most streaming services. On another matter. Besides being the mind behind Teitan you are also the guitarist of the band Cthuluminati. What is the current state of the band? Are you working on a new album? Guitarist and singer to be exact haha Cthuluminati is very much alive. We were very much a live band before the pandemic and currently used this ocean of time to develop some awesome new stuff. We’re working on new stories, new music and a brand new website where people can read the first book and other awesome stuff. We have written a lot of new music and are in a strange process of making a few albums.
So very much alive and expect a lot of news coming up! Back to the project. Besides the next album, what else can we expect from Teitan? I am already writing new music. For this album I want to do some new things, so I am currently creating different songs in different styles that would fit Teitan so I can choose what direction I want it to go. Also I am putting out something else concerning Vákuum just before the actual release. So stay tuned for that! Well Devi, that's all. Charlie Watts, baterista de los Rolling Stones, falleció a los 80 años La noticia fue dada por su agente, quién reveló que el músico “falleció tranquilamente en un hospital de Londres rodeado de su familia”.
El baterista de los Rolling Stones, Charlie Watts, murió el en Londres a los 80 años, anunció su agente lamentando la muerte de “uno de los mejores bateristas de su generación”. “Con gran tristeza anunciamos la muerte de nuestro querido Charlie Watts”, afirmó su agente en un comunicado, añadiendo que “falleció tranquilamente en un hospital de Londres hoy mismo, rodeado de su familia”. Aunque se desconoce el motivo del fallecimiento, Watts fue tratado por cáncer a la garganta en 2004. La noticia llega poco después de que se anunciara de que el baterista no podría aparecer en parte de la gira de la banda por los Estados Unidos debido a un procedimiento médico. “Charlie ha sido operado con éxito, pero sus médicos creen que necesita descansar”, explicó entonces, sin más precisiones. El baterista, que cumplió 80 años en junio, llevaba en los Stones desde 1963. Junto con el cantante Mick Jagger y el guitarrista Keith Richards, Charlie Watts era uno de los miembros más antiguos de la famosa banda de rock, en la que también han participado Mick Taylor, Ronnie Wood y Bill Wyman. La muerte de Charlie Watts fue sin duda un golpe muy grande para el seno de la banda y para los fanáticos alrededor del mundo de los Rolling Stones y para los amantes del rock en general. El baterista había decidido no estar en el tour de la legendaria banda inglesa por los Estados Unidos para recuperarse de un problema de salud. “Las fechas de la gira de los Rolling Stones avanzan según lo planeado”, destacó en un comunicado la productora Concerts West, que llevará al grupo a doce ciudades estadounidenses a partir del 26 de septiembre. Los Stones tuvieron que posponer estos shows, que originalmente se planeó para el 2020, por la pandemia causada por el Covid19. El esperado tour de sus majestades satánicas arrancará en St. Louis, Missouri, y se extenderá hasta el 20 de noviembre terminando en Austin, Texas. Según publicó el diario británico The Sun, con la palabra de una fuente cercana al grupo, quieren hacer del espectáculo una celebración de la vida de Charlie Watts. “Él era como un hermano para ellos, pero ellos sabían que hubiera odiado la idea de que cancelaran los conciertos. Charlie les había dado su bendición para hacer una gira sin él, por lo que honrarán sus deseos”, sostuvo. El 4 de agosto, la banda anunció que Charlie Watts no podría acompañarlos en la gira para recuperarse de las secuelas de una operación. El músico murió el martes a los 80 años de edad. Spencer Elden, quien apareció desnudo cuando era bebé en la portada del álbum de 1991 de Nirvana "Nevermind", ha afirmado que la obra de arte icónica del disco es pornografía infantil y está demandando a la banda por presunta "explotación sexual infantil". La portada del álbum de rock muestra a Elden, quien entonces era un bebé, nadando bajo el agua mientras está desnudo, con los ojos fijos en un billete de un dólar. Pero en una denuncia, presentada este martes en un tribunal federal de California y obtenida por CNN, los abogados de Elden dijeron que la imagen era pornográfica y que había sufrido "daños de por vida" como resultado de su participación. La historia del "bebé de Nirvana" Elden, ahora de 30 años, ha incluido a los miembros sobrevivientes de la banda, los albaceas de la herencia del cantante principal Kurt Cobain y varios sellos discográficos como acusados. Till Lindemann de Rammstein fue detenido en Rusia
Till Lindemann, el cantante de Rammstein, se encuentra en serios problemas en medio de su estadía en Rusia. El músico iba a presentarse en el marco del Maklarin For Homeland Festival en Tver -ciudad que se encuentra a pocos kilómetros de Moscú- pero la situación se complicó por cuestiones de protocolos sanitarios y esto derivó en un altercado con la policía. Dicho evento estaba planeado para unas seis mil personas en un lugar cerrado, pero dado el incremento de casos de coronavirus, el show debía realizarse para un aforo de 500 personas, incluyendo a los músicos y al equipo técnico del festival. De esta manera, los planes del evento violaban las leyes del país, razón por la que el cantante de la banda de metal industrial fue detenido por las autoridades. Aún no ha habido declaraciones públicas por parte de Lindemann o su equipo, por lo tanto se desconoce cómo ha seguido el proceso policial que enfrenta el cantante. Por otro lado, su manager Anar Reiband también fue detenido por ser uno de los organizadores del evento y además haber ingresado al país con una visa turista, cuando en realidad su visita se debía a cuestiones comerciales. Recordamos que en forma paralela a Rammstein, Lindemann lleva una carrera solista y era con esta propuesta musical con la que iba a presentarse en Rusia. Además, su gira por el país también contemplaba dos shows para el 4 y 5 de septiembre en Moscú. Esta no es la primera vez que el frontman de Rammstein tiene problemas legales en Rusia. Recientemente se enfrentó a la ley por un NFT que puso a la venta que correspondía a una de las escenas filmadas en el museo Hermitage de San Petersburgo para el video "Beloved Town". Si bien aquellas imágenes fueron rodadas con consentimiento para el clip, no así la posibilidad de comercializarlas como NFT.
