THE PLAN / The plan showing the placement of the larger building - Bradford Civic Society and Fuse art gallery, and smaller building - the Assembly co-working spaces. The buildings create an oval square, where people can walk by the gallery walk and sit in the cafe or the oval planter/seating area.

THE BUILDING / The elevation of the Fuse gallery and Bradford Civic society is noticable because of its large columns and the artwork noticable through the facade of the building, achieving a gallery walk.

EXPERIENCE / The route taken by a person walking from the Bradford city centre. Noticing the building, seeing the art through the windows, noticing the entrance, experiencing artwork, visiting the roof terrace and seeing the office building, going to the office building and finally, seeing the Rawson’s hotel from the roof terrace of the office building.

THE STREET / The route from the main pedestrian streets of the Bradford centre. The street opens up a view of the building, the gallery shop and in the back, a distant view of the Rawson’s hotel with greenery surrounding it from the roof garden.

THE ENTRANCE / The wooden elements emphasise the area of the ticket office, resemblig the rounded shape of the building itself. The wooden waves grow from smaller to larger ones, creating a flowy ceiling for the entrance of the gallery.

THE GALLERY WALK / The gallery walk is open to the outside via the large windows, thus inviting people from the outside - inside. The separation between the pedestrian street and the wall is by the larger windows, thus creating a feeling of a forest with the large wooden columns and trees surrounding the gallery.

THE VOID / The void opens up the first floor, letting in more light. The void allows visitors to see artwork, like sculptures, also from the top. Smaller separation walls are installed along the walkway to obtain some darker area for installations, etc.

THE PASSAGEWAY / The small passageway from the Darley street opening up the view of the cafe, the seating area in the square and constant movement by people passing by.

THE RAWSON’s HOTEL / The plain facade of the art gallery celebrates the Rawson’s hotel, thus emphasising the detailing of the hotel and not taking away it’s charm. However, a small peak of the square is seen, inviting people to the new square.

THE VIEW / A view from the facing building, looking over the oval square. People pacing around the square, some going into the gallery and the large office windows show people at work.
